Somewhere around 2018, I got a gaming PC with a 1060ti, i7 7700, and 16GB of RAM through a friend I handed the money to build one for me.
For various reasons, I need a new gaming setup, built from scratch/prebuilt, and I know I can't just go online and buy my exact setup. I can't even find prebuilts/cards from the RTX 2000 series anymore.
I check online and see 70 different variants for the 3060ti. I read reviews and see horrible stories regarding purchases, warranties, etc. I check youtube and see (pajeet) techbros talking nonsense, stroking their dicks and playing CP2077 and Warzone. I'm even willing to risk getting a second-hand setup if it means having a gaming PC that will last me another 6 years *at least* (because I don't intend to give up the old one).

TLDR; I want recommendations for a stable gaming PC. I'm not interested in a fancy-looking rig. I'm not interested in fooling myself that my new games run well because I'm using DLSS or TAA (well, I haven't really touched AAA games since 2020 except for Hitman, Death Stranding, and Dead Island 2, which aren't really AAA). My wish is to have an opaque tower, to crank up all the settings in a game to the max, and to comfortably play anything at 1080p 60fps that isn't shit like Minecraft.
I live in Romania with a budget of around a thousand euros btw, and my best friend as far as I can see is amazon.de

I'm getting the HUGE dark base Pro 901 for my case. I also want to have an installed dvd/blu ray player, even though I know most people don't these days (I have externals but I WANT one built into the computer). Does that case even have a place where the front panel can be removed to install one? It looks like one piece where you can only remove the whole thing.
My old case from 2016 had a little section you could remove so you could put an optical drive. Maybe that's not allowed anymore.
>>
>>101141495
Try this: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/fHWmt7
I've left ~€100 in the budget for any shipping/import fees and such.
Card price is a placeholder since I don't know what the used market is like in Romania. If you have some budget left over, consider also a new 4060Ti or RX6800 at ~€400.
Everything else is fairly standard "1k gaming rig" but feel free to ask about the parts selection and reasoning.

Look for a used 7700 XT or 4060 Ti for light 1080p gaming (if you can use German Ebay do so):
https://www.ebay.de/itm/235611993600?epid=28061882377
See 1080p results here: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/xfx-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-magnetic-air/36.html
Spend up to about 500€ (or 50% of your total budget) on the GPU and the rest towards a system that won't bottleneck it.

I recommend something like this:
https://ro.pcpartpicker.com/list/pJnX6D
Googles says ~5000 RO ≅ €1000 so that was my goal, and as I said you can knock off a few hundred € buying the the GPU used. Also take a look at >>101141726 which is largely similar and run the numbers cross-shopping build part lists to see if importing from DE is a better deal.

elp very much appreciated! After 9 years i finally wanna get a new pc and since i dont know a lot about this topic i need some advice for a complete build.

My budget is ~1000€. (I could probably squeeze out another 100€ if you say there are some parts where it is very important or makes sense, otherwise i would rather use it to maybe get a new monitor). Im from Germany and will probably simply end up putting in one of your suggested configurations into an online pc shop, let them build and ship it to me.

All i want to do with it is basically watch youtube, movies, twitch etc. and play games (For games i dont really care about ultra high settings more about performance and i just want to be able to play some games that came out the last few years like the Resident evil remakes, Red dead redemption 2 and maybe GTA 6 when it comes out).

Some requirements:
-Doesnt need flashy colorful lights or to look cool.
-I want normal Air cooling and not a water cooling system
-I need 3 usb ports in the front
-Preferably Nvidia graphics card (my old one was an AMD and it sometimes caused some annoying blackscreens and also i read everywhere that AMD in general causes more problems than nvidia)
Also i dont know anything about things like overclocking and buying new parts and adding them in the future so that is all completely irrelevant for me.

Im someone who barely ever changes anything if it its working alright so I just want another solid and reliable PC which i can use for atleast the next 5 years. Thanks in advance!

Should be a good template to get you started. Maybe change the case to get the FPIO you want (or buy the type-C upgrade).
>>
>>101141951
Thanks. I actually saw the other guys post and your reply and thought this sounds kinda similar to my situation lol.

Btw i see the "de" in your link so if you are german aswell can you recommend a site where i should buy a pc (select the config, let them build and then ship it to me)? For my last pc i used caseking and i remember being happy with the service but i just checked their site and their configurator is kinda shit, like you cant straight up choose the parts you have to select some base system first and it wouldnt let me select all the parts i wanted. So do you know any good shop?

Yes, that is the 5.25" bay.

>>101142021
The other guy is me - it just so happened that the Romanian fellow wanted to order from Germany. I'm not German myself so I can't help you with the integrator service, sorry. Were it me I'd just assemble it myself. It's not hard.
>>
>>101142043
Ah i see. Well i know its not that hard but ive never done it before and this is a lot of money for me and im scared to fuck things up so i will rather just pay a litte fee for them to build it. Thanks for your help tho

Your MB heatsink should have a thermal pad on it already. If it fell off or got misplaced, get a thermal pad, even the cheap blue chink one will do. Running without thermal pad is not recommended.
Yes, fast SSD runs hot. The faster, the hotter. You could get away with running without heatsink at around 4500MB/s.

Which low-end to midrange Intel CPU from 12th and 13th gen offers the best balance between energy efficiency and performance (even if the e-cores don't do their thing)? There seems to be steep price competition between the i3-12100/13100 up to the 13600 in both the regular and T variants.

You gamers cling to your mesh and glass, as if it will not become obstructive and impair you. One day the crude mass of multi-colored LEDs that you call a tower will go out of fashion, and you will beg my chassis to save you. But I am already saved, for the workstation is immortal…

You can use the FSR3 Frame Generation with DLSS 2 and 3.5, basically the same thing for less money.
I recommend to avoid anything below 4070TiS, since there’s 0 performance difference with the previous gen but more hw related issues such as low bus width and VRAM

The difference likely stems from the Ryzen system being a year older. In my experience larger vendors are pretty stupid on their pricing and just do initial price - time, so you get dumb shit like 10 year old parts selling for a grand. It's a pretty good sign you're being overcharged.

So two intake and one exhaust fan is all I need? Feels kinda lame
>>

Generally yeah. Adding more fans doesn't do much (though a side intake to blow over your gpu can give some notable temp gains) next to just having fans push moar air.

>>101148450
You'll get maybe a 1ºC improvement by adding one extra intake.
Adding too many fans to your case worsens airflow, temperatures, and operating noise.
You need to consider custom water cooling with a high-quality pump if you want to significantly improve system temperature.

Telling ppl to buy GPUs in the 600 bucks range that come with 12gb VRAM in 2024 should automatically get you gun down.

Reminder that AMD is so cheap that not only are they using chiplets as a cost cutting measure, but they are also using non-carcinogenic pcb masks thinner than paper that biodegrade over time.

xfx bought reference boards and decided that was a good enough with a different cooler slapped on. sapphire/powercolor use their own custom boards.

>what specifically do you want?
I am happy with the G502 I have on my main but I need to buy something for a quaint office PC. I would just re-use my Deathadder 2013 but that thing doesn't scroll anymore and double clicks like hell. And the basic optical mouse from Microsoft is being used by someone else right now. So anything at or below that tier is fine by me.
>>101150658
>>
>>101150767
get the deathadder v3 wired then. 54 bucks and you can see if lightweight gamin mice might be something you enjoy

how the fuck could i explain to my retarded friend that amd sucks for gaming and overall desktop experience is worse than on nvidia

his arguments
> i will have npu in the cpu so i will not need to run ai on my gpu
> vulkan support is better
> linux support is better
(last time used linux with nvidia card about 4 years ago and then switched to mac)
> i would not buy 3060 because it has less vram than 6800xt

>>
>>101150792
>30000 dpi
Damn that's a lot of DPI since 2013. Around the same price point as the current G502 as well. Might try it out if I don't need another mouse with lots of buttons since I do like to play Quake every now and then.
>>
>>101150842
you cant
they will die on their shit hill
there is zero reason to buy amd these days
nvidia destroys them on every front but price and thats because nvidia is king dick they can do whatever they want
>>

Minus NPU retardism this guy is stuck in 2018/2019 like I was. Bring up all the features NVIDIA has besides CUDA I'd say and explain the merits of all that shit. Oh and the recent drivers that they released for Linux.
>>
>>101150860
dpi doesnt mean anything. stick to the dpi setting you always used like 800dpi. might be worth it to go higher if you are interested in playing with higher polling rates
>>
>>101150875
He doesn't need to lie.
>>101150894
Yeah I know, I'm just remarking on big number go bigger over the years. FPS fags like to stick between 400-800 DPI anyway at 500-1000 polling rate as far as I remember.
>>
>>101150911
4k and 8kpolling is all the rage rn but you need a good pc for that and it doesnt make a lot of difference. most pros at least in cs2 still use low sense with 400-800dpi at 1k.
>>
>>101150842
> i will have npu in the cpu so i will not need to run ai on my gpu
NPU perfermance isn't even in a similar league to gpu. It's a marginal accelerator that barely improves on (shitty) CPU inference. Greatest bottleneck of CPU inference is shitty (usually dual, at most quad channel)DDR5 memory bandwidth anyway. Cheap android phones had them a decade ago.
>vulkan support is better
Vulkan works perfectly fine on nvidia. If you are linux gamer dxvk is slightly more performant on AMD, but Nvidia still performs mostly fine.
t. daily diving 3060 Arch.
>linux support is better
True but follow simple driver installation instructions and Nvidia works without any major problems. Refer to above.
>i would not buy 3060 because it has less vram than 6800xt
Unless you are AI fagging 12 gigabyte is enough. The cards will be obsolete through raster long before vram.
>i don't care about rtx
DLSS is still noticeably superior.
