am I, a below average human, going to notice the difference between a 137ppi density screen and a 163ppi screen? I'm currently using old 24" 1440p monitors and am ready to upgrade. I like the idea of having 32"s being significantly larger than what I'm used to (even mix of gayming and cad work), but I'm sure i'll be fine with 27"s if the increased pixel density is significantly and noticeably "better"

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M3yTL9USA ~$2000First time building a PC, trying to make sure it's fairly portable since I'll have to carry it around a lot. Planning on using it for college (data science) and gaming (Most intensive game I plan on running is probably Arma 4 when it comes out). I just want to confirm with you guys if the parts look good (also I have to get all my parts from Amazon since they're a gift from my parents and they don't want to buy parts off other websites).
I need help upgrading.I've been using an i5-9400f since 2019 and up until I started playing Cyberpunk 2077 I did not feel it was bottlenecking my 3060ti. Friends are saying ddr5 has its issues such as boot times and some boards are finicky on the am5 side. I do not want to be stuck on an older generation again just because of the socket on my motherboard. Where do I go from here?
What's a good and quiet 140mm RGB fan?
AYYMD was always a second source supplier living in the shadow of Intel. Their response to Hector Ruiz still holds true to this day.>Intel pointed to AMD's "playing it safe... with anemic investment in manufacturing capacity, leaving Intel to shoulder the burden of investment to enhance the usefulness of computers and enhance the market." In addition, Intel claims that AMD has been "dogged" by a reputation of being unreliable as a supplier, has traditionally lagged in innovation, and has seen products delayed well beyond original launch dates. >AMD has only itself to blame for failing in the marketplace. When AMD delivered on time, it gained market share. Intel has no control over their delivery schedules, that is completely in AMD's hands, they just aren't living up to their customers and it shows with their market share.>Intel said it has demonstrated over a 30-year period that it can deliver faster, better, and cheaper products to consumers, in part because of its continued multibillion-dollar investment in new capacity and research and development even during downturns in the semiconductor market. >"In short," Intel wrote in its response, "AMD's colorful language and fanciful claims cannot obscure its goal of shielding the company from price competition." Particularly bang on pointing out AMD's poor reliability as a supplier (especially now since they are fabless) and lagging behind in innovation and launch dates whilst investing little in R&D and capacity. It's less of Intel and NVIDIA being bad and more AMD just being stupid as always.

>>101173075Cope. Intel and NVIDIA used every lever at their disposal to gain market share and deny it to their competition, "rules" within the market are just dressing for pencil pushers. If they didn't think they could get away with it, they wouldn't do it. Especially considering the incompetency of their main "competition", particularly in diplomacy and marketing.
>>101173087RAM can be too fast? Also I don't really plan on using it as a plug and play, it's just that I'll be moving around every couple of months so I don't want carrying it to be hassle. Besides that though everything looks fine? Also a big concern I am having is that it seems like only 1 of the USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers is connecting to the case despite there being 2 headers and 2 ports, anyone know why that's the case?
>>101171429Depends on how you see itYou can see it as these drives have been running constantly for 5 years in a rigorous operating environment and that alone make them untrustworthy to useOr you can see it as these drives are otherwise in exceedingly good heath despite how long and hard they have been ran and thus likely have lots of life leftPersonally I see it as it's $80 for 12TB, a new WD red is $240 for the same capacity, you'd have to get very unlucky for a new drive to be worth it.
>>1011732186400 is too fast for most am5 CPUs since you'd have to run the fabric at 2133mhz where most CPUs max out around 2066mhz (6200mt/s ram)Plug and play means that you'll not have to fuck around with voltages, clocks and timings manually to get it working reliably. If you're into overclocking, by all means get a 6400 or 6800 kit to play around with.
My pc is from 9y ago. I got an RX 6700 XT on a discount some time ago and I would like to upgrade my pc. It would have to be basically a new pc. I don't know much about pc building but I was thinking about jumping to ddr5. Any advice or some builds to recommend?
>>101173218Its a quirk of the architecture, if the memory speed is too high the infinity fabric can't keep up and switches to a lower speed ratio to the memory speed which hurts performance
>>101173100>Intel and NVIDIA used every lever at their disposal to gain market share and deny it to their competition, "rules" within the market are just dressing for pencil pushersNot him but why do you people exist. You will never have any of this benefit you because you are not a shareholder. Competition applies positive pressure to provide people like you and me better products and services, certainly. But the result of eschewing the 'dressing' you're dismissing is borderline scam products like the 4060 Ti 8gb, and more and more predatory price rigging.
>>101173273>the infinity fabricis that what the cosmic stones are wrapped in?

It really surprised me how much of cooling is just diminishing returnsLike, a perfectly good dual tower air cooler is $35, yet a 360mm AIO over 3x the price is only marginally better. Lots of fans are also unnecessary, just 2 intake and 1 exhaust will significantly decrease your temps vs no fans, but adding more case fans barely does anything, I guess unless you need lots of low rpm fans for a quiet build but still with good temps
>>101173274Let's not also forget that prior to the onset of the 2010's how AMD has been making virtually no money or growth from their product sales due to Intel simply being able to shut them out through bribes towards retailers and OEMs among other unfair tactics all over the board as the US DoJ put it. Most would probably be able to remember how you literally couldn't find systems with AMD parts in the early 2000s even when they were dominant for over 7 years, or that most people would be completely unaware that they even existed or had better performance in both desktop and servers. That, and the decades of litigation since the 1980's where Intel was trying to kill off AMD from the start and have the x86 market to themselves. Had they succeeded, and AMD went bankrupt come 2010 due to having no money left to invest in R&D or fabs (which Intel likes to poke fun at deliberately ignoring why they don't have the resources to spend in the first place) then NVIDIA would have also likely been shut out of the market overnight as Intel controls the PCIE and ATX standard. They were that close to becoming a total monopoly. This would also trickle into the graphics market, as Radeon GPUs would become neglected and sidelined in favor of CPUs. So even the current GPU market can be partly to blame on Intel's corporate antics.
>>101173381>yet a 360mm AIO over 3x the price is only marginally better. it is all about what heat load you are throwing at it.

If someone could help me with understanding PCIe SSDs and NVMe and stuff I would greatly appreciate it. I am in the process of building a brand new PC but ran into trouble late last night while installing windows. Both windows and my bios did not recognize my ssd. I have a gigabyte b650 eagle ax motherboard and my ssd is a team group 2tb 4.0 x4 with NVMe. I installed the ssd into the first (top) PCIe slot on the motherboard, which I am now seeing is actually a 5.0 slot. Is this why it is not being recognized? I see there are two other PCIe slots behind where the GPU would sit that are apparently 4.0. To be honest I haven't built a computer or dealt with new parts in over 10 years so this is all very new to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on taking the GPU out and trying those other 2 slots today, but I just want to know if that is actually the reason why the ssd was not recognized.

FSR 3.1 is out in a few Nixxes games by the way.The reason you're not hearing anything about it and AMD didn't bother to advertise it is because there's virtually no improvement over the previous FSR version whatsoever. >>101183647Turns out the mobo only has A1 and B1. Tested the stick in both, still no boot or beep, and the red light continues the same.I'll try reinstalling my old CPU later and report back.

Frozen Edge or LF III for a 360 AIO?Leaning towards Arctic but it seems like the Frozen Edge is better (at least for the 240 variants).
>>101183852I would get neither, I would get an air cooler
>New mobo will launch 2 months latersounds to me like amd is rushing zen5 out the door presumably because they fear arrowlake
>>101183957AMD on 5nm is still struggling to grab market share when intel is on 7nm. intel on 2nm will be a death blow to amd
>>101183451Why can't Nvidia make reliable GPUs?
>>101183957Why would anyone buy Zen 5 now when you're stuck with last gen boards and no X3D?wtf is AMD doing?
>>101183957This seems like AMD asking for trouble for its board partners, as there's no guarantee whatever board the customer gets will have an updated BIOS, and plenty of retards don't know about flashing
>>101183576What CPU and motherboard? Have you updated the bios?
>>101183957Computex 2024:>camm mobo shown exclusively on Intel mobo>cudimm mobo shown exclusively on Intel mobo>backside power still exclusively on Intel mobo (despite being 2 years already)>more arrowlake mobo than zen5 mobo>All of this while intel releases months laterComputex 2024 showed us one thing: no one wants to make AMD motherboard. All the manufacturer are lining up behind Intel because they know once arrowlake is out, no one will buy amd anymore.
>>101183957BasedIt only shows how flexible their platform is for not needing new boards for new CPUs to work
>>101183957That's because zen5 is just copy and paste from zen4 with most of the ipc work done by tsmc. amd right now is very reminiscent of intel during skylake era with 0 innovation
>>101183997
>>101184079amd bros not like this
>>101184079The only GPUs I've ever seen flat out die were AMD, in fact my old 6870 also killed my motherboard and PSU in the process
>>101184027>no one wants to make AMD motherboardSocket longevity is probably one of the reasonsIt's great for the consumer who doesn't have to buy a new motherboard every second generation like on Intel's side. But it screws the board manufacturers because now they have to support their older boards for longer and they can't even guarantee additional board sales when people upgrade within the same socket.
>>101184157amd cope. Intelchads gets all the cool new things while amd fans gets to play in the mud

>>101184299I hate Qt6. All my favorite applications are moving to being written with it which makes them incompatible with Win7, so I'll probably be forced to upgrade to Win11 next build.
