Threads are going ridiculously fast this morning, is this related to the IT outage?

What upgrades can I do on a t480 besides display? Can I buy it online fully upgraded?

I recently purchased an x61t and it didn't bring a charger. What type of charger would I need for an L7700 CPU x61t? I was thinking about using it for personal use but with the way things are heading with censorship I was also thinking about memebooting and using it as a dedicated wrong think machine. Should I use this model for that or should I just get something shittier? These can be pricey sometimes.

Yeah, it's unironically over.

Classic keyboard mod.

Should I upgrade my 8th gen i5 T480 for an Intel X13 G3? Would cost me around 700€ total

Going to engineering school next year.

any 65w charger for *60, *61, *00, *10, *20 and *30 machines (I think) will work. The big yellow circle plug, not the newer rectangle plug.

*61 machines cannot be corebooted/librebooted. Only *60 and *00 machines can be. If you want a cheap libreboot machine get a T400, T500 or W500. You can get an X200 too but they are by far the most popular libreboot machine so you will probably pay more for it.

Alternatively you could get an X60 or T60 and libreboot that if you want a 4:3 screen. Make sure if it's a T60 that it has an intel GPU, not an AMD one.
>>
>>101477664
Also, the X61T has a fatal design flaw if it has the 1400x1050 screen. See https://xiphmont.dreamwidth.org/90510.html

Should I sell my x220t? I find my T480 to be more power efficient and for tablet usage my Yoga 11e last longer unplugged.

My ThinkPad has no odor. If yours does, then maybe that reflects your own poor personal hygiene choices.
>>
>>101482141
i buy alot of thinkpads and alot of them smell
i found out that its usually spill from original owner
ie the latest thinkpad i got had cola spilled inside with visible stains on the roll cage and it smelled bad

so if you want it back just pour something that has sugar on your thinkpad and let it rot

Is there any decent and cheap tablet or 2 in 1 from Lenovo?
10" screen preferable, or 11" if the bezel is thin (ruling out the Yoga 11), must have a real keyboard and x86 CPU.

I upgraded my x220 from windows 10 to windows 7. Holy fuck it feels a lot snappier AND my battery went from struggling to get 3 hours to getting at least 7.5 hours on a full charge now. Like magic!

nice lie because os does not impact power draw
what draws power the most:
display
pci
usb
tick scheduler

What model is this ? Ugly thickness and weight but ugly keyboard as welll?
>>
>>101487484
>nice lie because os does not impact power draw
lmao what kind of retarded cope is this
x220 was specifically made for Windows7
vs Windows10 which is bloated having 200 extra processes and scheduled tasks and dog shit defaults which sucks the battery way faster

try it yourself retard instead of making these retarded posts
>>
>>101491166
>x220 was specifically made for Windows7
you dont make "hardware" for specific windows
windows is created to support everything and have all drivers

>try it yourself retard instead of making these retarded posts
i literally did and there is no difference
power draw is the same

>having 200 extra processes and scheduled tasks
this doesnt draw more power
they will use mere milliwatts of power
you can check with powertop in linux for average process power draw

i told you what actually matters for power draw (display, pci, usb, tick scheduler)

T480/s gotta be the most overrated memepads. I've tried them both and they do NOT live up to their meme-status.

What's the next best meme-pad? T14s Rizen?
>>
>>101472090
Double heat-sink from what I can tell you. T480 runs HOT. T480s fan runs like it's Armageddon
>>

finally got my T14 as a replacement for the X220 I've been using for years now and jesus christ, 1080p feels otherworldly
>>
>>101492181
What disappointed you specifically?
>>
>>101492181
Yes.
>bad screen, the worst one is brightness
>bad, loose USB-C port
>nice external battery, until you realize finding replacement is hard. If only re-cell the 9-cell battery is easy.
I own the rare but more overrated one (with Nvidia dGPU), and modern iGPU btfo MX series into discontinuation.

The next one will be T14 G5.
Good:
>2 RAM sockets is back
>AMD option
>16:10 screen
Bad:
>only one, internal battery (force you to use powerbanks as "replacement" of 2nd battery)
>Soldered WLAN
>Shallow key travel
>Camera/mic bulge, like Z series
>No more physical buttons for trackpoint. At least it is haptic touch than mechanical one like in xx40
>design wise even getting more & more consumer-like. Bet no more spill-proof.

Hello G, I'm looking for a new laptop that bends all the way backwards because my current one is dying. Do you have any reccomendations? Something that's under or around 1k but can still smoothly run games that doesn't have a soldered ssd or ram. Battery life isn't too much of a concern. I tried looking for laptops like this online but i'm pretty illiterate when it comes to this sort of stuff so I couldn't discern whether the laptops bent only halfway or all the way whenever they were listed as 2 in 1. Not sure if this is the correct thread for this but I couldn't find a laptop thread.

Say you have a normie friend that asks you on advice for buying a laptop. They are not going to take used/refurbished, and they are not going to coreboot it. They're just a normie with 500 bucks for a budget.

Which Thinkpad would you recommend them for that budget? They don't need a dedicated GPU.

Thinkpads with Yoga in the name
>>
>>101496244
>doesn't have a soldered ssd or ram
Tough choice. Only few Business 2-in-1 models with replaceable RAM
>ThinkPad L390 Yoga
>Latitude 5310 2-in-1
>HP ProBook x360 435 G8
Most convertibles have soldered RAM (like ThinkPad X-series Yoga, Latitude 7000 2-in-1)

ironic given that using older, unsupported windows is what saved southwest airlines from having a network crash compared to delta/united et al with their "modern" windows and "updated" security

Not specifically a thinkpad question, but I'm looking for a budget laptop for programming at school. Ideally >8 hour battery life with no overheating. dont care about screen quality or speakers, just needs decent keyboard / hinges / workable mic and camera. Budget is about 500. Don't want Apple. I'm looking at the Pavillion IdeaPad and Inspiron but they look like dogshit. IDK. Won't be playing games. As high CPU / ram performance as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks.
