We had an outside auditor pentest our network and discovered that the CEO's password was literally 'GUID'. This revealed two problems: upper management had a policy that none of us knew about that exempted them from various security rules including those about password complexity, and two, at some point our previous CISO told the CEO that the best password was a GUID, which is why he literally picked GUID as his password.
We're a regional telecom and considered vital to national security and this assclown is our CEO and our upper management, who have the most privileged access, have the least security. This is the dumbest shit since the time we discovered that the back stairwell at a previous employer was being left unlocked so the VPs could enter and exit through the parking deck without needing to go all the way down to the security desk and through the security gates.

This is par for the course in Europe, where telecom "companies" were state owned and top management was stacked with party members who were automatically entitled to privileges and exempt from legal repercussions.
Around here they fired the /sec/urity people, possibly offshored what was left. To nobody's surprise, they just looked helplessly at the screen as a state actor drained all their data. Pulling out cables or emergency shutdowns were way outside their skills, and certainly outside the skillset of whatever clown outfit had been entrusted with security operations.

And this had exactly zero consequences for anyone in the management.

https://www.britannica.com/money/capitalism
>>
>>101832435
The problem with capitalism as concept, are all those that prepend various qualifiers of questionable relevance, such as turbo-capitalism or late-stage capitalism.
Capitalism is as >>101832552 points out: that the means of production are owned and controlled privately. In addition, there is also the requirement of transparency to keep cartel and trust building in check. It is often the latter that fails in a declining society, where politicians creep into industry, with direct and indirect control.

In Europe we no longer can get that infamous cigarette paper in between industry and government, a classigal sign of fascism. This is now so wide spread that the "intellectual elite" of the West simply had to redefine was Mussolini actually meant. In other words: the rot is here.
>>
>>101832552
Educate yourself you economically illiterate ape. Capitalism died with the introduction of the Federal Reserve (and other central banks) along with the end of the gold standard. Central banking and fiat currency are all tenants of socialism, which have dominated economic thought for the past century. You can't have a capitalistic system where the underlying monetary policy is built atop a central bank creating money out of thin air.

>>101834303
It's literally capitalism in name only. Like in 1984, words typically mean the opposite of their true meaning. We live in a corporate oligarchy propped up by government created fiat currency and quasi-socialist welfare programs. None of that relates to the actual definition of capitalism which is solely about the idea that free markets are the best means to distribution labour and resources (protip: we haven't had free markets in over a century).

>I think US politicians would much more likely describe their country as "capitalist" rather than "socialist" though, since "socialism" is such an unpopular concept in America.
And that goes in with what I'm saying that actual definitions don't matter anymore. Americans will proudly say they're capitalist, freedom-loving, patriots, and then turn around and shop at Walmart which takes billions in government subsidies which allows them to create a near monopoly in most cities, while they pay their workers so little they have to get actual government welfare (SNAP, Medicaid etc.) which Walmart also gets to benefit from as well. None of what I just described is a capitalistic free market.

ARE YOU A FUCKIN JEET
>>
>>101847428
that's a pretty cool problem

I'm just a janny jeet nigger larper, so don't take my shit seriously, but here's my take:

the "virus" would be in the form of malicious code which could be seamlessly part of the image data itself and not the metadata (which would be exif and other shit which some formats might have)
this malicious code would be run if the interpreting program runs it, so the image viewer or whatever would have to be vulnerable
to protect, you'd have to keep the programs up to date

separating potential malicious code from binary image data is basically impossible
>>
>>101847903
ps: idk about metadata possibilities, you might be on the right track
running malicious code from the metadata would still depending on the program which is reading that data
>>
>>101847903
>>101847962
How rare would such a virus be do you think? Would the exploit/malicious code only work on a certain viewer or potentially any viewer?
>>
>>101847979
if a couple of image viewers depend on the same library, then they will all be vulnerable

random example CVE:
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2022-3857

From there we go to the dudes who found it for more info:
https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230406-0004/

Now that Win10 will reach sunset in October 2025, while Win11 is still bad, and recent processors are faulty and capable of self destruction, I really wonder how this will turn out.
Complexity is out of control, both for hardware and software, leaving security holes you can fly an average gas giant through. So upgrades will in reality be downgrades.

So what do you think will happen? I Guess it will, somehow, not be the year of the Linux desktop, and that the government will lean on MS to provide a long term support for WIn10 until Win12 is ready. Intel will probably also get some pressure. A processor with 4 in-order cores and a few disconnectable OoO cores would help, with security and also power consumption.

>Updated XZ Code For The Kernel Looks Like It's Ready For Linux 6.12
https://www.phoronix.com/news/XZ-Update-Linux-6.12-Queue
>The past few months have seen patches for updating the XZ (de)compression code within the Linux kernel that's been a lengthy process in part due to the XZ backdoor situation earlier this year and the reputable XZ developers in turn being busy cleaning up that mess. In any event it appears that the updated XZ code for the Linux kernel is now on track for mainlining come Linux 6.12.
>This code adapts to the upstream XZ Embedded shifting from public domain to the BSD Zero Clause License, drops the notorious "Jia Tan" malicious contributor from being a maintainer, and Image.xz support is added in the process for ARM64 and RISC-V kernel builds.

>On Friday, four days after Georgia Democrats began warning that bad actors could abuse the state’s new online portal for canceling voter registrations, the Secretary of State’s Office acknowledged to ProPublica that it had identified multiple such attempts…
>…the portal suffered at least two security glitches that briefly exposed voters’ dates of birth, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers and their full driver’s license numbers—the exact information needed to cancel others’ voter registrations.

This Undiscord shit is a total crapware, but AFAIK there are no good alternatives. Undiscord crashes when it tries to remove messages from deleted channels/guilds (due to improper error handling), having you to restart the whole process again. Sometimes it skips entire pages of messages and it has dumb algorithm for checking if theres any messages left (discord backend lags out -> sends an empty page -> undiscord thinks that we're done). And having to tinker with message deletion/page load delay settings is not entertaining, too.

Also fuck discord, imagine not having an option to delete your conversations. The only option are either delete them manually, one by one, or selfbot (which is against TOS). Absolute dumpster fire of a messaging app.

Listen to it? I downloaded it yesterday!
The following music review excerpt was iGPU brute-force extracted from the ethereal pages of /CYB/LOID/ Ragazine:

"... Evoking images of Break Dancing in 1980's New York City, DJ Cynus' new track "WebP Botnet in My Underwear" is as raw & dirty as it is gritty, and a true AI tour de force. After listening to that track, I felt I needed to take a shower, or I had just eaten a deep fried rat cooked in recycled sewer oil in ChinaTown. I WANT MORE."

>CHINESE TCP/IP STACK IN MY CHIMNEY
I look forward to listening/reviewing this future track.
You should also know that you have been 'signed' to Deep /cyb/ Media's soon-to-be-announced ethereal record label, as soon as I deside a name for it. You are also the only artist we have at present. I'm toying with the following names:

> /CYB/LOID/ Records
> Piggumoto Music
> FAFO (Fug Around find Out) Records (inspired by a current project)
-Suggestions welcomed.

The ethereal record label's primary funtion will be to produce iGPU brute-forced memetic album covers, promote the music, encourage artist to produce original music for /cyb/ and archive 'choonz for posterity. I think your latest joint is prime sampling material, and is ripe for a remix using a proper DAW.

I'm serious about the sample-ability of that track. I listened to it about 8 times yesterday and a few today, and keep hearing remixes in my head using Audacity to chop-up and mix in AI generated voice samples and other analog treatments to make the song longer and danceable. I think it could really benefit from a human, analog touch, but - you're the Suno whisperer. I encourage you to continue to push AI generative music boundaries by brute-forcing Suno to bend to your will, (as you did with the growling) and craft something really unique to you.
Some of the songs you posted in the previous thread sound good, but 'cookie-cutter' to me, as if Suno said to you, "You vill accept this AI slop, und you vill be happy." I saved them none the less. In my view, 'WebP Botnet in My Underwear' feels like fragments of a seed that needs to be assembled by human hands, and then planted. You gave Suno the blueprint, Suno gave you pieces of a groove- not the groove itself- if that makes sense.

>THOUSAND YEAR VINYL
Explain the reference to me.

I also thought about calling the record label:
>CompactFlash Records
and using a CopactFlash image with a square hole in the middle and consentric squares on the top to mimic a vinyl record, sitting on an analog turntable. "Become Unplayable" is the motto. We strive for originality here at Deep /cyb/ Media. Whatever the label name becomes, it will have a custom memepic logo to promote the artist(s), (you) and hopefully encourage more OC for this thread.

>We’re Entering an AI Price-Fixing Dystopia
>Algorithmic collusion appears to be spreading to more and more industries. And existing laws may not be equipped to stop it.
https://archive.is/1zsSK
>If you rent your home, there’s a good chance your landlord uses RealPage to set your monthly payment. The company describes itself as merely helping landlords set the most profitable price. But a series of lawsuits says it’s something else: an AI-enabled price-fixing conspiracy.
>The classic image of price-fixing involves the executives of rival companies gathering behind closed doors and secretly agreeing to charge the same inflated price for whatever they’re selling. This type of collusion is one of the gravest sins you can commit against a free-market economy. Agreeing to fix prices is punishable with up to 10 years in prison and a $100 million fine.
>But, as the RealPage example suggests, technology may offer a workaround. Instead of getting together with your rivals and agreeing not to compete on price, you can all independently rely on a third party to set your prices for you. Property owners feed RealPage’s “property management software” their data, including unit prices and vacancy rates, and the algorithm—which also knows what competitors are charging—spits out a rent recommendation. If enough landlords use it, the result could look the same as a traditional price-fixing cartel: lockstep price increases instead of price competition, no secret handshake or clandestine meeting needed.

im running cpu on lower clock so i can have fan turned off completely and stay on 60 C

but you know how it goes
make it work
make it good
make it fast

the distro already worked but im making the toolchain optimized

static link build of clang

replacing lld with mold
building musl with mimalloc (clang and mold aswell)

multi stage bootstrap so i end up with fully openmp and polly optimized compiler-rt libcxx and compiler

there is no guide how to build this perfectly on first go so the llvm build usually throws random error i have to resolve then i restart build

like 20 more builds and it will work fine i swear

The footage sees Leto's titular character heading to the real world in order to look for "something important" known as Permanence, as well as Lightcycles and Recognizers being in the real world and causing damage, including cutting cars in half, and ending on the note of Bridges' Flynn greeting Ares in a white robe. New character details were also revealed for the threequel, with Evan Peters playing Julian Dillinger, a descendant of the original movie's villain, and Greta Lee playing a human named Eve Kim, who is "a programmer whose greatest work provides a path for Ares to come into the real world".

Subscribe to HTB vip and be sure to do all of the starting point machines. If you're stuck just take a peek at google and the walkthroughs if you must because the point is to understand the resilient hacker mindset more than memorizing bash commands or hr buzzwords. Tryhackme and HTB academy are great but you're better off skimming through pirated PDFs, reading docs and watching youtube.

Become an actual HTB/CTF junkie. I mean it. Replace all of the mindless coomer zoomer brainrot with cracking boxes. Don't stop there either. Specialize in something. Be it web related or malware dev/reversing. Build your own active directory home lab and showcase that shit on a blog somewhere. You can use neocities if ur a cheap bastard like me. We're all gonna make it dawg you just gotta live and breathe for this shit.

Yeah sounds like paypal. They don't even let you remove a number one you've given them one, they only allow you to change it for another number. Another example of them sucking ass is their password policy (min 8, max 20) and them only allowing one security key to be signed up.

I'm in need of a color printer. Laserjet, inkjet - I don't fucking care. I need one that has good Linux support, doesn't want my kidney for a subscription, has cartridges/tanks that I can refill myself and not buy a new one every single time, and preferably, the one that doesn't print yellow dots(I know that's virtually impossible with modern ones, but I'm okay with getting a secondhand/old one; you can still probably obfuscate the pattern with adding your own dots, IIRC). Price range is wide, but cheaper options preferred.

What models should I look into? Or maybe there are DIY open-source projects for color printers? I tried looking it up, but the best I got is a repurposed 3D printer with an ink nozzle.

>Personal Data of 3 Billion People Stolen in Hack, Suit Says (1)
https://archive.is/WC3gU
>Jerico Pictures Inc., a background-check company doing business as National Public Data, exposed the personal information of nearly 3 billion individuals in an April data breach, a proposed class action says.
>On April 8, a cybercriminal group by the name of USDoD posted a database entitled “National Public Data” on a dark web forum, claiming to have the personal data of 2.9 billion people, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, which said the group put the database up for sale for $3.5 million.
>To conduct its business, National Public Data scrapes the personally identifying information of billions of individuals from non-public sources—meaning plaintiffs didn’t knowingly provide their data to the company, the complaint said.
>Some of the information exposed includes Social Security numbers, current and past addresses spanning decades, full names, information about relatives—including some deceased for nearly two decades—and more, according to the complaint.

Are such stories now so commonplace that people no longer care?

Anyone stupid enough to 100% trust an "encrypted" communications source is a fool. Nothing remains encrypted forever, encryption is only as strong as it's weakest point, and the glow loves putting back doors in everything. Mix these things and it's always a matter of time until things get broken if they weren't compromised from the start. The more popular and public the project, the higher the chance it's already leaking or will sell you out. This isn't paranoia. It's being old enough to know batter.

>Iran’s electronic confrontation with Israel
https://archive.is/HjZfE
>The choice of target also broke with the past. Iran and Hizbullah had not previously attacked Israeli hospitals, says Mr Portnoy, a retired brigadier-general. After October 7th Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, ordered cyber-operations against Israel to be expanded, he says, citing Israeli intelligence. The result has been a barrage both more intense and more refined.
>The rate of cyberattacks against Israel rose three-fold after October 7th. Iranian ones have grown more sophisticated, with less spillover beyond the intended target. “They are more accurate, they collect better intel and they go to the right places,” says Mr Portnoy. “They know more about Israel, sometimes, than we do.” Previously it would take Iran weeks to exploit software vulnerabilities that had become public, he adds. That has fallen to days.

Thinkpad and get a fuckload of USB wifi dongles from China (they are 2 dollars a piece, but as long as it supports listening it's good). It's mostly due to MAC address fuckery and some other stuff you can do, since everything has a unique ID, and you want to lower it's usage as much as possible. If you really want to be autistic, you can get a USB dock for more USB slots and use it for USB wificards. But anything for trying to gather data you want to only use a wifi dongle once or use an extender with it, since for penetration testing most of the time, any very high class system can tell what you are doing if you use the same wifi card and information.

I just saw the reply you got to your second post over at /dmp/. While I wanted to mention this to you before, I thought it would be best to observe quietly and see what happened with that request. that anon's reply reenforces what I have always felt about the creative process, and that is never 'outsource' work we should be doing ourselves. Few will have the same devotion to a project you are working on than you do. Anticipating the response you got, I looked around for some software yesterday and found something you *might* be interested in. In a nutshell, it is a set of open source AI tools for use in Audacity. While they were made for use with Windows, a pull-request with a script is there that you can use to install the tools in a Loonix environment. It's not Suno, but it *is* free, and runs without the need to connect to an external server. No accounts necessary. A search of "open source suno alternative" yealded for me a surpising list of results. Same for following the algo on YT.
More importantly, you might also be interested in searching "granular synth VSTs" on YT as well, which lead me to this amusingly named project among others:
Since I have no idea what direction you want to go in creatively nor what machine(s) you have at your disposal, I'll stop here. Suffice to say that there is a wealth of software out there to assist you in your AI music endevors.

I encourage you to look into these tools *if* they interest you, and look forward to listening to what you might produce with them.

From your many previous posts, I am confident that if anyone has the tenacity and technical acumen to solve the technical challenges, it's you. My one concern with this is that you are spending more time solving technical issues and less time being creative. We may "be here forever", but we will not *live* forever.

i got openmp from llvm to compile as static lib, despite -DOMP_ENABLE_SHARED=OFF being set it still tries to build libomptarget as dynamic lib, i had to edit cmake files manually then made sed script to automate it
i will not report ze bug and keep fixes to myself

actually my brain is fighting two types of autism
i am considering compiling everything with compcert + hardened_malloc vs clang+openmp+polly+rpmalloc

one is for performance maxxing and second is for security maxxing
also considered building xorg with hardware accel

dont know who poisoned me

i have decided fully on user space software but havent really on desktop
dwm
vs rio
vs fvwm
vs cwm
vs fullscreen emacs o_O
, will finally decide after i enchant the toolchain
https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/100740430/#100759252

another thing worth investigating is if thinkpad x230 could support ecc ram, there is quad core cpu that as ecc support that i have in my x230 but it doesnt boot with ecc ram present, there might be some coreboot hack possible to make it work unless ecc support also depends on motherboard dimms or something like that

This time I asked it to add the text in quotes and it mostly works. The results are sometimes funny using the exact same prompt, for example it gave me a headless hacker one time then another wearing a light blue covid mask, ect. It doesn't always get the lettering right, but the results are great.

I haven't suggested any app. Markdown is a way to write documents fairly easily without having to use special features in some editor. There are quite a few markdown interpreters on fdroid that aren't bad when it comes to privacy and security.
However, microsoft word without internet access is probably good enough for your problems.
