Reposting my question here: Imagine like a small 640p 60hz screen phone but you put in a modern battery (say 4000 mAh). How long would it last in usage and standby time?

that seems to line up with most of the other reviews I've seen. and my own experience. it handles the only games I play (MTG Arena and Arknights) just fine to boot.
the performance they've managed to get out of a chip benching so poorly points to good optimization of what they've got. so does the heat and battery management.
if they didn't raise the prices I think there would've been a lot less bitching.
then again, maybe the only reason I feel that way is because I barely give an ass about resource intensive phone gaming. or video editing.

I'm looking forward to it. I hope they won't screw it up by, once again, using an outdated GPU. Still, in a world where RedMagic exists and it's dirt cheap, Google has a lot of work to do in the hardware department. I can overcome software shortcomings, but I cannot fix broken hardware.

You'll have to eschew wireless charging if you want that. Unfortunately glass is the best material we have. At the very least you'll need plastic antenna lines to avoid the holding-it-wrong iPhone debacle. Also you don't want your phone to be a Faraday cage if you want to receive cell and wifi signal.

Ok buy a OnePlus. It's a nice feature to have, particularly if your port breaks. You're already setting your phone on your desk, why not plop it on a wireless charger? It takes no additional effort, and you can keep between 40 and 80% without stressing the USB port.

What's good anons?
Can anyone who has owned a pixel 7 recommend a really strong full body case? One with a built in screen protector and is really rugged? Something with thickness to it that is built for protection not some thin piece of plastic.

If you're entrenched in Da Apaul Ecolisystem you will need to backup all iCloud and local iPhone data to new storage to be accessible by Android. You will also lose your blue bubbles and iPhone herd identification if you need those. If those are not issues then you get a device that can do much more than iOS.
>browsers other than safari, brave, yandex, and tor
>emulators up to 360, 3DS, and Switch
>tachiyomi forks for manga without any ads whatsoever
>newpipe forks for youtube without ads and a download button below the player
>twire for twitch that hides ads
>mixplorer file management
>standard mouse cursor shape when connecting a bluetooth mouse
>photos saved to the phone retain their filename instead of being relabeled
>proper image galleries with image management and folders
>drag and drop audio files onto phone without middleman software and play using media player of choice
>muh nova launcher full home screen customization in addition to other home screen launcher firmware choices
Here's an example. Some fag forked the FOSS Tachiyomi manga reader app into an app called Tachimanga. Many basic functions are locked behind a paid subscription and the app has ads on the App Store fork, but everything is free with more features without ads of any kind on Android forks. You can also export your settings and other data to a file in case you move to another device or fork. If you couldn't care less about manga then this is still an example of iOS being more restricted than Android. iPhones are good for mainstream apps like Instagram and serve as an identifier for people who care, but Android phones are better media consumption devices if you don't rely on anything Apple specific.

>burn in after 9 months?
>I'm worried about my x6 now
Weeelll... I will admit a likely factor why Poco's WQHD AMOLED screen already has signs of burn in is partly on me and my fault too.

I am heavy user of of my phone, have used it for work in my temp contract job, use it as media consumption machine. As in watching YouTube, shows and movies in full HD or 4K, HDR and high brightness. I also constantly bring my Poco phone with me in jogging workout every morning and afternoon, meaning it does get exposed to direct sunlight and heat during morning and afternoon jogging sessions.

And most of all, I play Genshin in high settings with performance mode enabled via game space AND sometimes even enabled the phone's performance mode on along with the game space performance mode enabled to get extra frame rates with the high graphics... Sooo yeah, part of my Poco's AMOLED burn is also on me.

BUUUUUT! It really isn't bad. I emphasize my Poco's showing signs of AMOLED burn, but it really doesn't have burn in yet. Like I said, it's artifacting or the shadows and marks of the bottom home screen buttons that're now the visible signs of AMOLED burn. And the home screen buttons' artificating marks/shadows are only ever visible if my screen is white and very bright if you also squint too. But if my screen is in different colors or in different scenes, especially if you're just watching videos, shows or movies. You won't notice it at all.

So my Poco phone's screen is still pretty good and fine and the home button artificating marks are negligible. And the colors of my phone screen are still fine and pretty good and as colorful and vibrant as always.

One UI is actually pretty damn good. A lot of little bonus features that add up. That and Good Lock let's you customize everything. Per the last thread:

>Modes and Routines: Can make your phone do certain things automatically under certain circumstances, like whenever my phone connects to my car's Bluetooth, it knows to open Maps and GPS but turns off GPS whenever it disconnects. Or it turns on battery saver mode automatically if my phone isn't connected to a charger by 10pm.
>Secure Folders: Hide apps and files, make them password protected. Android is JUST now getting this feature this year, Samsung has had it for years.
>Calandar, Gallery and Alarm apps are all better than what you get from Google or the app store
>Good Lock: Samsung exclusive app that let's you customize EVERYTHING, go watch a YouTube video on that
>Three different levels of battery saving: Stop charging at 80%, slow down charging to fully top up when you're about to wake up or have it charge to 100% then decrease to 95% and then top back up to 100% over the course of the night.
>Can natively make gifs and videos your background, lock screen or call screen, don't need a third party app
>Native split screening and picture-in-picture with every app
>Samsung DeX turning phones into desktops

I say try it out for a week first. All of that isn't worth throwing away for "clean android".

>My Poco phone only having 3 years worth of updates and security patches
Yeah I'm aware of my Poco F5 Pro only having 2 years software updates and 3 years security patches, compared to iPhones and Samsungs flagships having 7 years of OS and security updates.

But I am still confident my Poco F5 Pro can last for more than 3 to 4 years. I can even picture myself using my Poco F5 Pro potentially 6 years and minimum 4-5 years simply because it's got the powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Besides, I'm sure most to of you know more than a few people who're probably using older model Android phones stuck at Android 9, 10 and 11 for who knows how long and many years. My uncle's using some shitty ancient Oppo that's probably below Android 10. But it's still works for him in calls and basic bitch media consumption.

I guess so long my Poco F5 Pro keeps getting Google Playstore updates for many years to come. I could keep using my Poco F5 Pro for many years until a buy a newer phone.

I need some help.
Most of the reviews I see seems to focus on things that I don't give a single shit about like photos and videos. The things that most reviews seem to care the most.
The things that I do care about: screen quality, internet connection and battery life (I don't play games on my cellphone directly but using cloud services but Ido listen to music while reading and working) does not seem to change that much based on descriptions and reviews between models (even between mid and high end models).
Overall, can you recommend a reviewer that don't focus on shit that only women cares about?
>>
>>102122004
You don't need to watch a youtube video to find out what phones have 120hz screens and a large battery. The internet connection thing will depend on your phone provider too.

Maybe instead of trying to find an "anti woke youtuber" you actually go outside and have healthy interactions with people?
>>
>>102122368
It seems like I hit a nerve of a retard.
I never mentioned anti woke. I said that most reviewers focus on things that no men will care about: photos, videos and shit like that instead of practical aspects of the phone and asked for recommendations of good reviewers that focus on that.
Is not that hard, bitch.

>>102120607
The biggest appeal of the oneplus phones up to around its 6th generations was what it offered for the price and it was one of the best examples of the idea of a flagship killer.
With them hiking up their prices over the years and steering more towards a direction of just copying what is popular and new, a lot of their original appeal is gone.
I doubt they will ever try out shit like the 7 pros retractable front camera again (I must say, they finally have gotten their shit together with cameras as it it used to be one of their weakest points).
Their phones are not bad by any means, but they don't really excel at anything either and with the aforementioned price increases their offerings just don't stand out anymore.

Otherwise, pick the Android of your choice. A girl should like you for you and not your possessions.

I bought the Poco F6 because I got a coupon from the Xiaomi store at launch day plus a discount from all the Xiaomi points I collect every day by charging up the space ship in the Mi Store. The 8s is still faster than any other midrange phone in the 300€ price bracket.

I game a lot on my phone so it's the best bang for the buck. In 3 years I'll have upgraded to Pocophone F8 or F9 anyway by then.

>>
Don't know much about smartphones. My Galaxy A20E had a basic case I bought in 2019, leather wallet-type glued to some sort of hardened plastic. It's worn out and I'm looking to replace it, what's the best material that's cheap and lightweight. Want to protect the screen too ideally.
>>
>>102126757
No. They stopped being a good value a few years ago. They get dropped from software support much quicker than they used too and they killed the rom community. Plus they are more expensive than an equivalent Motorola that has less bloat.
>>
>>102126913
Custom roms are for poojeets and schizos. My Poco F6 gets 4 years of updates and is faster than any other phone in the 300€ price range.

I will never buy a phone where the camera sticks out like a retard. If you want to take up photography buy a fucking camera. Is 12mp not enough for you? Fuck off. I don't want or need telescopic lenses or AI to approximate what I point the camera at.

>>102126757
I was trying to buy a xiaomi flagship killer for years and nothing came.

I wanted to buy a xiaomi 13, but ordering a xiaomi 13 global was going to be $1300 CAD while I paid $500 for an S23 instead. Their prices are so fucked and their use of mediatek chips on the mid-upper range ruins those phones.

I just buy Samsungs now. S23 or S23+ for family that wants flagships for $500ish, S20 FE 5G (SD865 6gb) for anyone that wants a poorfag $200 phone. No ROMs no nothing just stock.

I only specialize in aliexpress stuff, way cheaper than local. got Poco x6 for 180€ couple months ago.
never messed with used market cause I don't trust the used battery.
I think here anons seldom talk about cheaper phones. hopefully someone can recommend something used too, but Poco seems like the go to for price performance combo. have to look at how good that CPU is though. mtk has some trouble with some emulators I think, but it might be the newer ones like the switch (which it would probably have trouble with anyway due to performance)

well like I said, I got x6 on Ali on sale for less than 200, these are the more recent ones.
compared to m6 pro, x6 has no SD slot, but a better chip, better screen, faster memory (I think) and storage, way better camera cause of snapdragon even though the module is the same, but m6p photos look deep fried. 8gb is plenty and you have to turn off memory extension because it rapes performance and it has zram anyway.
I haven't tried emulating much yet though (there are benchmarks with emulators on YouTube) but feels like a great middle ground. and people wanting to push high settings in games get x6 pro but it has no phone jack.
x6 also heats up a bit when you push it. I think m6 pro is more stable due to weaker chip.

How good are Samsung phones for custom roms? I'm want to get a Pixel 8 and use graphene on it but I keep seeing people opting for samshit phones instead. I've been using the S9 for almost 5 years now and I can't stand it anymore I also really hate how ugly and bloated Samsung One is and I think my brother who has the S23 is seeing ads everywhere, Samsung apps are really bad so that's another reason I want to use lineage or some other rom on it. both a oneplus 8t and a galaxy s21 (base model) are refurbished on amazon for 180 usd and can arrive by 10 am tomorrow. are either of these good? would want good performance for genchink impact and ZZZ

obviously I'd be better off getting some chinkshit phone with 2 weeks shipping but considering I don't have a working cellular device as I type this (and I've only got 200 in my checking account) that's not an option and I'm basically forced to amazon if I want it to arrive in 16 hours

Are software OS updates and security updates just a meme? The tech nerds, tech reviewers and all the Mrwhostheboss and Marques Brownlee clones and LinusTechTips of the world keep emphasizing and hyping OS and security updates as super important features.

Or is the whole OS and security update commitments just both a meme and some marketing and gaslighting scare tactic by phone companies to force or incentivize people into buying higher end models and flagships and to keep buying new phones as opposed to using your old phone for years? It appears to be a thing with entry level and budget phones who's SoCs are MediaTek Helio G series 4G chipsets. Such phones have bare bones and basic ass stock android and have poor to very little or no OS or security updates.

why Infinix phones suddenly popular for no reason? I have a friend that bought one for it and it's seems not really pretty good for a phone, i mean the specs are okay but the software updates seems rarely, and when you have a software updates for it, it makes your fingerprint disappear and can't be used, it's strange for me that a fingerprint features just suddenly disappear after software updates. Looking at the specs of phones, the high end versions seem to have a lot of useless features (to me) that will not affect my daily use. The features that I do think are relevant seem to be only slight better than mid and lower range phones (battery life, screen, internet downloads and uploads and multitasking).
After all that, this is my question: is my initial impression correct or is there something that I'm missing?

I have the Pixel 9 Pro XL and I like it so far, but the battery is confusing me. I watched a video today where someone got 7 hours and 45 minutes of screen time with wifi off only using data with moderate to heavy use, video meetings, games, messaging, etc.

Throughout my day on average I'm on data for about 9.5 hours and wifi the rest of the time. While I'm at work I use my phone moderately with messaging, listening to music and occasional browsing through Twitter or something. Doing that today, I'm at 3 hours and 45 minutes of screen time and my battery is at 35 percent. Am I doing something wrong? Can I really expect another 4 hours of screen time on that 35 percent or did I not fiddle with my settings enough?

She has literally been through over two dozen chargers in the last 5 or so years compared to my 4 chargers form my one phone in the last 4 years. Technically 3 if you count the one in use for adb because one only charges.

Does anyone here have a pixel 6 pro?
I got one a few weeks ago and the standby time is bad.

I heard it had modem issues before I bought it, but I didn't know that applied to standby time as well, just signal strength in certain areas when on mobile data.
The screen-on time is still good, and the standby drain is not a deal breaker or anything, but I would obviously prefer my battery not to drain so damn much from standby.
If anyone had the phone and has a solution or something. Let me know!

Forgot to mention I only use WiFi and have mobile data turned off, I also turned off always on mobile data, or whatever its called. I may just install a custom ROM at this point. Because apparently not only the pixel 6 pro has this problem, but a few other pixel phones.

why doesn't auto-update in the playstore ever function
YES its turned on

same

It defaults to only doing it while charging and idle on wifi I think. I have noticed it sometimes leaving things not updated though, so could be a bug.

lads how do I return a smartphone I used
in my country they give you two weeks for return but if you want to return it just because you don't like it it basically needs to be unopened and unused
well I've used mine for a week now and I'd like to return it but now I need to make some excuse
anyone dealt with this before and has some good excuses?

That entire second paragraph is *chef's kiss*. You hit the nail on the head. The typical consumer thinks

>Updates = Good
>No updates = Obsolete

Meanwhile updates wasn't even part of the conversation in 2018 and you would never know your phone ran out of updates if your phone didn't tell you.
>>
prove to me that "security" "updates" actually do anythingngood to show menhowbtheybatop something bad from happening to your phone. I never seen or heard anything bad happening
>>
>>102130814
This is bullshit. All security update notes are incredibly vague. Literally just says "security improved" without any explanation. And using a phone without updates is perfectly fine, you should try it for yourself since you clearly have never.

It doesn't. The ransomware, viruses and hacking that'd happened in early 2000's Windows PC's is genuinely a thing of the past and is not at all applicable to smartphones.

Nah, my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has a 3 day battery life. Apple Watches have garbage battery life.

Yeah, you don't sound like a shill at all. What was the point of even posting here then?

No one needs updates. I was updooter in terms of phones and now I'm not. Having s24 ultra now.
You will upgrade your phone in a 2-3 years anyway, why bother.
No one will use same phone in 7 years.
