My current rig is un-upgradeable dogwater from 10 years ago. Which option should I go for?1) Get 7800x3d + 4080 super now, get 5090 when it comes out (or 4090 if I can't get it) and sell 40802) Get 7800x3d + 4090 now, call it a day3) Don't buy anything for now, wait for 9950x3d and 5090 release in Jan and get them4) Same as 3) but I go with the 4090 after 5090's release makes its price drop (if it does...)

I had the P-cores at 5.6ghz and the E-cores at 4.4ghzNow, no matter what I do, this is what I get- 5.3ghz on 3 cores and the rest all at 3.4ghz max. Any thoughts? Is the CPU starting to crap out on me? I tried overclocking with and without intel limits enforced, tried SVID Behavior auto and typical, and Intel adaptive boost auto and disabled. No change I make to settings makes any difference. Thoughts? Thanks.

>>102278857the bios update changed how boosting works. if you dont like it then revert.
>>102278910It's not even boosting to the factory stock 5.4ghz. That's what made me wonder if the CPU is starting to decay. I will consider rolling it back, I mean wth, 3.6 years left under warranty, but if that's Intels answer, it's shit. I had a huge performance hit in productivity shit like AI noise reduction in Adobe software. I kinda liked that extra punch from overclocking.

My system is Ryzen 5700X and a GeForce 4070, along with a decent PSU and case. I game at 2K resolution @ 144Hz I have $1000 available for an upgrade. What should I invest in?
>>102278897The price is fine, I suppose, but I wouldn't really want either of those components in isolation. The 7950X3D is a solution in search of a problem and the XTX a $1000 card with $600 RT perf (and if you don't want RT just buy a GRE).
>>102278795You have waited for 10 years. Don't wait further and just get 7800x3d + 4080 super. Just add 360mm AIO for the CPU. That combo will keep you going for another 10 years.
>>102279037Depends how cheap you want it. Maybe around $450 if you cut it to the bone but you could easily spend $700, maybe more, if you want some "luxuries". Nice case, big storage, good cooling, etc.

Three monitor questions.I am only for 1440p monitors.1.My current model is Samsung Odyssey LC27G75.As far display is fine, it's day to use features are fucking painful.- can't turn off led diode- switching between screen is too slow- especially when given PC manage to shut down which makes to "turn on" pc screen- displayport sleep messes up multiwindow as it "disconnects"- not enough portsDid I messed two years ago?2.Regarding ports. My huge ass working/gaming desktop involves many devices and consoles. I would rather avoid using external HDMI switches. If I would go for new monitor I would have a good use case of 5 inputs, 6 tops, but there are hardly any with more than 4 inputs. Then there is USB-C but I have hardly any idea about its capabilities. Are there such models existent or those are expensive for workstations class?3.Finally, there is apparently a DP feature that allows me to do following setup:PC <-- DP --> Monitor #1 < -- DP --> Monitor #2that sounds neat option as it would save me a lot of cabling. Though, I have no clue how viable are they. Would then PC <-- HDMI --> Monitor #1 < -- DP --> Monitor #2 work?

Nothing fancy, just some mobile apps and the like.I have no idea about hardware so I've just picked whatever sounded good from some of those prebuilt PC's. I mainly need help choosing between the GPU's and finding a good PSU. I have no idea of what makes a good PSU and I definitely don't want to make any mistakes with it.For the case I just picked the first one I found that didn't give any warnings since the one I already have seems to be too small.I plan to keep my 1080p monitor since playing at higher resolutions isn't a priority of mine and that way I can save some money. According to the OP, I'm overshooting with my choice of GPU's for 1080p gaming, but I want something to stop worrying about being able to run games (mainly Monster Hunter Wilds) while also knowing I won't have to spend much more money in the future if I ever decide to upgrade my monitor.Any comment on the build is more than welcomed,. Thanks in advance, anons.
>>102279767What sort of upgrade are you doing where a full rebuild is being done but ram is being kept? The intel chips that support both ddr4 and ddr5 benefit a lot from the bandwidth of ddr5. 16gb capacity likely rules out going from consumer grade gear to the HEDT lineup as MOAR RAM is often one of the big features of those platforms.
>>102279767Don't buy a DDR4 motherboard in 2024 unless you are buying ultra low-end. You'll be stuck with DDR4 till the next upgrade. Memory is the cheapest component of the computer, why wait on the ram? It's like $115 for a decent kit of DDR5.

>>102279916Yeah, TSR is pretty close to FSR but claiming FSR is the best visually of all the upscalers is some shill behavior. FSR is great, I used it on my 1080Ti before upgrading. It works and does the job. FSR only uses spatial upscaling, it's objectively worse.

>>102279544>Would then PC <-- HDMI --> Monitor #1 < -- DP --> Monitor #2 work?DisplayPort MST only works like this when the source is also using DisplayPort, I am using this and it works fine but you've gotta keep in mind there are some bandwidth limitations and DP1.4 only supports 3x1080p daisychained or 2x1440p.

So I got a corsair shift PSU to avoid having too many cables in the shroud area since I plan to install some intakes on the bottom (the case is a Lancool 216, it does actually take some air from there). Was this a stupid decision? Do corsair PSUs blow up? What about coil whine? I'm aware this PSU is fine on this case and there is enough clearance for the gimmick.
>>102282610Pave the road leading up to your home. Get a compressed air duster and use it at whatever frequency works for you.
>>102285201Personally I wouldn't risk that on direct-die. Assuming it's not conductive* I'd rather have some excess because missed spots on a bare die can kill the chip if you get unlucky. You have plenty so no reason to skimp.*If it is conductive, don't use it.
I want to buy a 4k Oled monitor for movies and games, but I don’t want to upgrade my GPU until the 5000 series comes out. Will there be any issues with running this setup on my 6600 xt until then? I assume I can just set games to 1080 even though the monitors 4k?
>>102285333 (observed)The Shift is a top tier unit. Should have no problems although coil whine is still a lottery. With that said there's little benefit to bottom intake on the 216 - it has excellent GPU cooling at stock and the intake fans will have to move air past two obstructions. By all means try it but my guess is you'll be hard-pressed to notice a difference in field conditions.
>>102285378well you prob want a 1440p monitor for games
>>102285389I see. I guess it's still good for easier cable management. I'm just trying to avoid as much GPU fan noise as possible (given that there's no coil whine to be noticed there) ironically by installing more fans. I thought that if the front intakes were pushing air through the shroud at the bottom without the HDD cages in the way, and without much cable mess down there either, there'd be a benefit. Maybe it's not the best idea or the gimmick rear fan for the PCIe slots on the 216 would actually help more with GPU temps, there's mixed results with that from what I've seen. I don't have either the case or the PSU yet at hand so don't know how that goes. We'll see.

>>102285090I use ptm7950 for everything. You have to put it in the freezer before you install it, otherwise it's too soft and hard to get your square off the plastic sheet without ruining it. By buying the 216 and (presumably) a good card model you've already got the low-hanging fruit re. card noise. There's a tradeoff to adding more fans whereby you get more airflow for a given (total) speed but you do add more baseline noise. You're probably in the range where those effectively cancel out. Again, feel free to try it - there's no substitute for testing.

>>102285008Worth keeping in mind that for that mobo the x4 PCIe and the 2nd m.2 slot are chipset lanes, so if you connect 3 GPUs on x8/x8 (direct CPU lanes) /x4 (this one is a chipset lane) and use both m.2 slots, the 2nd m.2 SSD will share bandwidth with your 3rd x4 connected GPU. Remember zen 4 and zen 5 have 28 lanes total of which only 24 are available direct lanes, the other 4 go downstream to the chipset. All mobo lanes connecting to the chipset will be sharing bandwidth upstream to the CPU on the 4 lanes connecting the CPU and chipset, as the chipset acts like a multiplexing lane switcher. In practical usage there shouldn't be a saturation problem unless you need to use both m.2 storage devices intensively while your x4 GPU runs.

>>102285887For high resolution gaming the 4070 super is basically junk at this point

>>1022859674070 super Ti + 7600x for sure. You most likely won't fully utilize the 7600x but definitely will get bottlenecked by the 4070 super at 1440p especially with newer games
>>102281393If it isn't natively part of your screens then honestly I'd just run two longer cables over buying an MST hub, it'll be cheaper. The only reason to do it really is when you're using 4+ monitors.Hubs aren't that pretty
>>102285090I used it just yesterday on my CPU, it's really easy to use, just put it in the fridge(not the freezer) for 15-30 minutes, and when you put it on chip do not use fingers, take a credit card and press on it with the card.

>>102284909Lmao this is 100% a MSI QC control problem but yeah this connector and all cards that use it are lemons
