Few days ago I posted this screenshot because I thought there was something fucked where it wasn't. Nothing to do with my display.Thing is, it's hard to "show" but I have a game that does this weird stutter that's more like the image is trying to catch up rather than a full stop. It's really weird and inconsistent. It is trying hard to achieve a certain framerate it clearly cannot in some areas so it drops down, but it doesn't stay down.Have you had something like this happen?

This avoids the major pitfall of OLED burn-in and will give you the highest increase in user experience from the perfect contrast, viewing angles, better colors, and instant pixel response times that don't depend on the refresh rate. The INNOCN 27A1S WOLED is $550 and the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 QD-OLED is $650, QD-OLED is slightly superior in terms of color gamut and volume as well as picture uniformity but either again would curbstomp a $1500 LCD.

>>102344081The only way you buy the 7900 GRE for 1440p is if you're making a HUGE bet on FSR getting good. Otherwise, DLSS makes almost every game better, as current games require DLSS to hit 1440p and this is only going to get worse for the GRE as time goes on (i.e., lower and lower input resolutions, where FSR is even worse)
>>102345239Why do they always choose to exhaust themselves from the three fans in the front like that? Because it gives a better view of the fans? These people are animals.
Is this build alright for a 1080p monitor and casual gaming (meaning fps usually stays at 30fps and never 120p, occasionally 60fps, and won’t really play those demanding games like wukong)https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rd6twg

Are SSD thermal pads/heat shields a scam? Especially for pci3/4 ones?
>>102345660Depends. Most motherboards have their own IO plate and it works with the current tech we have right now. PCIe gen 5 isn't available to the public but it's been reported that it produces a lot of heat, more so than the motherboards heat plate. So, PCIe 3 and 4, they are a scam. PCIe 5, it might be needed but no real world numbers yet.
>>102341790For my first build I specifically bought a case that had a youtube video of someone putting it together. But honestly the only complex part is wiring
Intel 13/14th gen are fucked so you are left with 12th gen which beats AM4 for performance and leaves you with an upgrade path when they fix their shit with Bartlett Lake if that is true. But then... you have a processor that is power hungry, needs some contact plate to ensure it will last long and not bend and the motherboards are also expensive if you want something with good vrms capable of handling the cpu unless you snag a Z690 for cheap or something (like this MSI on Amazon for 145). So what is the use case for them? If you're on a budget AM4 works. If you have a bit more money you can surely afford DDR5 for AM5. If this like the middle option?
>>102345808For my first build my parent broke my 1060 that I spent with my own money because they thought I was wasting my time. Oh man, I remember crying so much that time. Luckily I had a CPU that had an iGPU but I wasn't able to play my games.

This is the build I have so far: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/H92pygIs this good for 1440p gaming? And is the CPU bottlenecking the GPU? I'm new to PC building so I'm unsure if the parts I chose are compatible. I tried to aim for 1500 CAD (without the monitor) but went above by about 200. Is it possible to shave off a few bucks?
Interesting note for new socket motherboards for upcoming Arrow Lake:https://videocardz.com/newz/next-gen-z890-motherboards-to-ship-with-intel-default-profile-enabled-by-default>On another note, motherboard manufacturers also mentioned that the Intel Z890 chipset motherboards will mainly ship with the “Intel Default Profile.” However, the BIOS will allow manufacturers to add other profiles, such as “Extreme Profile,” for users to select.
>>102346346> I tried to aim for 1500 CAD (without the monitor) but went above by about 200. Is it possible to shave off a few bucks?Yeah, I think you can do better here. Give me a few minutes.

>>102346346>>102346423 hereAlright I'd swap to the 12600KF which saves you $60 and is around the same perf as the 5700X3D in games (so it won't be a bottleneck on the 4070S), while it's slightly more powerful in general usage applications.https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-9950x/27.htmlIf you still want the 5700X3D order it on AliExpress and save $25https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007442107865.htmlAny cheap tower cooler is sufficient for such a lower-end chip.Did you NEED integrated Wifi? You could save $20-30 on the mobo if you just plan to run Ethernet (you can also buy an add-on WiFi Dongle later if you don't require it immediately). All modern NVME storage is basically the same in real-world performance. No need to pay any premium here.Way overspending on the case and necessary fans.Slightly overpaying for the PSU.Edited PCP List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/84w9fySame or better performance, now inside at your ~1500 CAD budget.Again, can be even cheaper if you don't need WiFi.
>>102343058Lucky bastard. It's $280 here.
>>102346538Yeah, and it's a mid-sized die that isn't going to be faster than the 7900XT, will have improved RT performance but still be average due to CU count. If you're in the market for that tier of performance then it's a total gamble whether to wait or not.
>>102346346The days of CPU bottlenecking GPU have been constantly moving behind us. The new hotness with renderers is GPU-driven rendering, where you have compute shaders generating the draw calls and doing the sorting and culling right on the GPU, so the CPU doesn't do much other than upload buffers when state changes. We're constantly trending towards them becoming more and more asynchronous. Whether the CPU or GPU is the bottleneck is mostly up to individual use cases, not the GPU being starved because the CPU can't give it work to do.

>>102346629I thought rdna2 was ok
>>102346592>why is the amd gpus division so incompetent? is this the result of dei?1. Divided resources and attention vis-a-vis CPU division which is currently the favored child for Server/DC Revenue2. Related to #1, starved of resources to hire a larger army of coders to make sure their drivers and game optimizations actually squeeze all of the performance out of their silicon possible3. Competing against Nvidia that never took their foot off the gas unlike Intel4. Being a slave to TSMC constrains their ability to compete on volume or price even while they lose the war on features and performance compared to Nvidia that will pay whatever it takes to remains on topThe only good AMD generations are when they are basically contracted by Sony/MS with console cash to make a new architecture for them which they can then port over to PC.

thoughts including price?I want another SSD and I've got a bunch. The idea is I use this one as my main drive and my current main drive (kc2500 that I got for cheap). I want all of my old data too. I don't have any issues with the performance of the kc2500, so I could get a shittier one, then clone the contents of this drive to that and reuse my current one, but I'd rather not. I'm leaning towards the P3 Plus based on cost/performance and reliability. I have some hesitation towards it, I see some fearmongering with QLC and stuff, but I don't know how true it is, and considering most of the PC building world is underage and just parrots Mr techtips's thoughts, I don't know what to trust. The cheapest stuff is from brands like Silicone Power and Adata, but I'm not that keen on having all of my data nuked one morning. It doesn't have to be limited to this list.

Mark Cerny is fucking insane for STILL having only himself know exactly how the PS3 worked and never sharing it with anyone aside from those secret CELL developers at Sony. They were either falling behind in development, or realized that this was utter fucking stupidity, so they went plan B and asked Nvidia to give PS3's GeForce 7800 was also kind of old, being a pre-unified shaders design that was absolutely obsoleted within a year of the console's release by the 8800, bolted it on, and shipped it.Mark Cerny wanted PS4 and PS5 to be AMD APUs because it was cheapest and easiest for programmersFX-8350 @2GHz, a HD 7850 and a 5000 RPM hard drive are roughly equivalent to a PS4.Ryzen 7 3700X and an RX5700 which are roughly equivalent to a PS5.

I was insanely tense about my first build and the cable management is completely dogshit, but everything works exactly as it should. For all intents and purposes, this build serves me really well, I don't really play very GPU intensive games, mostly just valve games, and for that it is running extremely smooth and I have no complaints. I'm actually kinda amazed at the fact that things load as fast as they do and the frames I get now. I cheaped out on the SSD since I didn't exactly have the largest budget on earth, and I bought a package that contained a MOBO CPU and CPU cooler plus 16gb DDR5 RAM. >>102348194>ask a simple question>hivemind ignores it and pushes its own bullshitThis site really was better 10 years ago.
>>102348005>>102348025nta but the power consumption is mostly going up because of competition in the market. The manufacturers are juicing their CPUs to squeeze that last 2% out so they "win" in benchmarks. As node density increases you'll be able to set a lower power limit for minimal performance loss. You can already see this with top-end Zen4 chips where a 150W (PPT) limit is like 3% behind the stock 230W. On lower-tier CPUs the difference is even less because there simply aren't enough cores to make use of the high power limits. What I will say is that the fans on those cheap dual towers are extremely low quality. You can definitely expect to replace them in that 10 year period.

>>102348894>That's only affecting Windows, right?Yes, it's "only" affecting the OS 72% of the global desktop market uses>I only use Linux, so I guess it's a non-issue for me.You are part of the elite 4-5%.AMD spent two years and who knows exactly what ungodly amount of money and engineering hours to maximize the highest performance they could target for the smallest number of actual systems and applications with the most underwhelming performance improvements in several generations in every other instance resulting in the worst sales since the end of the Bulldozer/Piledriver/Excavator-era (not that they really care about non-EPYC silicon anyway). This all-consuming lust for highly-narrow margins at the expense of widely-leverageable volume sets the entire industry back.
>>102348985Well, I'm buying the CPU for me, so the Windows issue is just a curiosity.Of course I wouldn't recommend the 9000 to Windows users then. But aren't you guys getting a Windows update that solves the issue and improves the performance greatly? I've read somewhere that it's on the Insider builds already.
>>102349009The update have disabled unneeded mitigations across zen3-5zen5 still has performance oddities in intercore latency that amd has yet to fix but are working on making right
>>102349009>Of course I wouldn't recommend the 9000 to Windows users then. But aren't you guys getting a Windows update that solves the issue and improves the performance greatly? I've read somewhere that it's on the Insider builds already. That's the thing, early/preview testing shows that whatever scheduling fixes and other optimizations the new Windows update provides, confers roughly the same proportional uplift to Zen 3 & 4, meaning the performance uplift over prior generations (or lack thereof) is still not any better than it was at launch. To put it another way, the core deficiencies of Zen 5 were so bad that attempts to fix it in software/OS patches retroactively made two prior generations' performance better as a side-effect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izqEZmjTfuM
Dumb question: is it alright for Noctua U12P to be mounted downwards? The fan is usually on the side on the pics and vids I've seen, but the brackets I've got only allow to mount it like this. The blades direction seem to match the GPU and the top fan. Also, do I need to worry about Ryzen 7600 heating up to 90°C during Aida stress test with this tower? It also runs at 4.9-5Ghz, but as I know it should be fine even with the stock cooler.
>>102349088>s it alright for Noctua U12P to be mounted downwards? You can but it isn't optimal.>but the brackets I've got only allow to mount it like thisI severely doubt that>do I need to worry about Ryzen 7600 heating up to 90°CZen4 will do whatever it takes to boost as high as possible until it hits 95c. If you are getting under that then the cooler is more than enough for the chip.
>>102349088>noctua mounting kit support ftw!!

Not unusual.Importantly, you won't see those kinds of temps under the grand universe of most applications and in gaming.
anons, whats a good 650watts sfx psu. Both modular and non modular. My case is a Mechanic master C28
Should I attempt to upgrade my CPU (inevitably mobo too) during nig Friday?I see the prices are not great, not sure how to go about it. >have a Ultra Durable mobo from 2016>have an i5 6600 since 2016>have an RX 2060Should I go AMD? What mobo/CPU combination is good nowadays?
>>102349205>Should I go AMD?that depends on if the new intel platform is competitive or not>What mobo/CPU combination is good nowadays?this is the standard entry level AM5 setuphttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/pXf4Xy
Poorfag here, I want a new PC and I used to have a rig with a 1200AF and I have found the Xeon rig for cheap on Ebay. CPU performance almost matches the R2 1200.I actually use a Pavilion 23 as a giant tablet just to watch YT and transfer ISOs and Roms to my PS3.Under $300 CAD in total, I already have a GTX 960 4GB and a 128GB SSD with my GNU/Unix OS on it and a few 1TB and 500GB drives in a box. Should I buy and upgrade the RAM, SSD and GPU later? I just to be able to play DS3, Elden Ring, Hitman WoA, Sekiro at 720p if necessary with mixed settings.
Looking at getting a ryzen 5 7600 5.2ghz, will the wraith stealth cooler be enough for cooling?
>>102349240xeons suck for gaming, you would be better off getting a 5600 and swapping out the 1200AF
>>102349240If you have a 1200AF you (should) be able to bolt a zen 3 cpu into your platform - like a 5600 or 5700x3d.
>>102349240yeah, $150 for a 5600 https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dCm3Zw
>>102349312>>102349313Sold the rig, had to move out ASAP
>>102349232I think I could do a Ryzen 5 5600. Absolutely no possibility I can afford brand new intels.
>>102349393if you've got $300 you're still better off going AM4
>>102349383if you've got $300 you're still better off going AM4
>>102349448Yeah but I need a new case, PSU, SATA cables, heating if not included, carbon pad. Very expensive in Canada
>>102349232>>102349393It's good though. I have 8GB Ram sticks.Maybe get this CPU and a Ultra Durable Gygabite B550 mobo again.Yes. AM4 is the only way to see some noticeable differences in games. I can keep the 2060 for now too. I don't mind mid/high 1080p gaming.

Long story short, i put a dildo in my PC case to support the weight of my GPU and I guess because it's porous and cuz I smoke weed in my room the fucking things rancid, it's sticky and smells like shit. and i think the plastics started to melt, anyways, i need a new thingie to support the weight of my 3090, what do i buy?
>>102349916>sticky and smells like shitwe all know what you did with it fag
Why do Asus GPUs have these collectible cards?
>>102350043yikes the card borders arent even standardised
>>102347972I have montech air max 903 is it a decent case? I found one video where a guy build assmebles a pc in it.>>102341862Yea I made sure I can fit my AIO and GPU into my case and got correct socket for cpu etc.

I literally cannot find a single displayport cable in my entire flat I gave my mate one a few months ago and that must have literally been my last one unbelievable
>>102350160Why would it ever compete with a good modern gen card
>>102350160it doesnt have 64mb of infinity cache so i'd be surprised if it even performed like a 7700xt
Will a 5950X be enough to avoid major bottlenecks with a 3090/4090 running at PCIE 3.0 or should I just ditch my 3700X system and go for the new Pluton spyware CPUs?

Can I keep my tower and install a new mobo in it? Will it matter if it will be intel or AMD?
>>102351538Depends on your CPUCan't go with a Intel CPU and a AMD Mobo because the socket is different.>Can I keep my tower and installWhen your motherboard has the same formfactor as your new one has, yes you don't need a new case.Google your old motherboard.
