I miss 11 inch laptops. Hate using an iPad.

what laptop should I get lads, planning on using it for stuff

guys,

What's the best laptop you can get for Linux? Best ram, CPU, video card?

Can you do a laptop 4090 (i.e., a rebranded 4080) with two external GPU cases so you can have two real 4090s or 3090s?

No room for a desktop system since I move in with different friends and family every month and a half but still want something beefy.

What is the ideal laptop model for the person who hates Steam, hates Valve, hates PC Gaming, hates Gabe Newell and wants the most anti-PC gamer laptop of all?

Should I get a Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 /lg/? I'm looking for a Ryzen laptop with an 8gb gpu, 16" 120+ hz high srgb coverage screen and freesync for under $1500. Right now the 4070 model is $1200 and that seems like a good deal.

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05 on a dedicated chip
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>serial numbered battery that prevents boot if you replace it yourself
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by half decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever

theres no PC laptop as total fucking currynigger shit as crapple's streetshitterbooks
they are one of the biggest heaps of steaming currynigger shit in the history of computing second only to curryPhones

is it a dumb idea to buy a macbook m2 pro right now? is it too outdated? i'm stuck between an M2 pro and base M3 both with 16gb ram. the internet gives conflicting information and there's a lot of negative reporting around the base M3 since a lot of morons bought the 8gb version and complain
>>
>>102365220
I use my M1 macbook pro every day and it runs great.
What are you planning to do on it? I use it for work (video editing) and it's never struggled.
I don't really like the OS, but the hardware is very nice.
>>
>>102365238
indesign work mostly, illustrator too and some light photoshop work as well
no videos except for 2d text animation desu
good to hear that the M1 still works so well
>>
>>102365276
I could do all of that easily on my M1, so you'll have no trouble on an M2.
Being forced to not use 32 bit apps (without work arounds) sucks tho, unless you really know you won't use older software, I would't recommend a mac.
I got this thing for free from work and I wish I asked for a windows laptop honestly.
>>
>>102361089
To be honest, I don't see the point of Frameworks when Thinkpads exist. Both are about as repaireable, have good Linux support, but Thinkpads have way better quality (especially the keyboard), firmware support/updates and are cheaper.
>>
i own the acer swift 1, got one for an absolute steal, upgraded the memory but i cant upgrade the ram, sad that it lacks an ethernet port but i have an adapter, general thooughts on the more "minimalist" thinner laptops getting rid of some features?
>>
>>102364112
soldering on shit is ultra retarded
>>
>>102365220
Everything below the M3 Pro Pro is a trap option, and even the Pro chip isn't the best value proposition compared to the Max. Go M2 or wait for the inevitable refresh and reshuffling of tiers and prices come October.

Macs are like flagship phones where you have to do the trade-in treadmill every 3 years to get the most value out of them. Bonus points if you can write them off on your taxes as an expense over those 3 years. It's one of the better freelance and small businesses write-offs because they hold value so well.

Which laptops are great for hackintosh? Any success story
I'm thinking with Dell latitude 7300. Small, yet without soldered stuffs.

Need an upgrade from my Surface Pro 7. I've been so put off with it that I'm considering switching to a Macbook or Ipad or something as a replacement despite being a long time windows user. The main problems have been being slow as shit, low storage capacity, crashing on Zoom if I use virtual backgrounds, constant screen flickering, and dogshit battery life. Idk if I just got a lemon but I've had nothing but problems with this shitbox. I really just need something that can run and load VMWare quickly (mainly just for Epic), handle the virtual backgrounds on Zoom without literally crashing the whole computer, and last longer.

Looks like the newer 11 series of the Surface are running around $1200, are they any better than the older models?

I always buy chromebooks, flash them with regular coreboot, then wipe chromeos and install Linux. You can get much better hardware for less money this way. For example, this thinkpad is only $499 right now
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadc/thinkpad-c14-chromebook-enterprise-14-inch-intel/len101t0022
i7
16GBs RAM
256 GBs SSD
Touch display
lots of ports, a thunderbolt on each side

You just have to open the case and disconnect the battery in order to flash the bios with real coreboot.

Been out of the market for ages. Best gaming/work(IT) laptop? It's gonna be a primary when not at home and secondary otherwise. Can go up to 3k USD but would prefer mid-high performance/price ratio without wasting dollars for incremental performance. Not partial to anything but Windows. Would like a large screen with high res.
