What is SillyTavern?

I started to study what I think translates to computer science in English, but that might be wrong. The thing is that I'm studying how computers work, how networks work and things like that. I've used SillyTavern from time to time since 2023 at least, but I never tried to know how it worked. Now, I'm interested. I know that you need a CPU to control processes in your computer, and that sometimes you can use your GPU because it's basically a computer or CPU on it's own (that's why it's faster and overall better to run LLM in your GPU, if I understand correctly). What I'd like to know is what is SillyTavern.

Is SillyTavern a bunch of orders that you load in your computer and also the interface? I know that I can load a model in my GPU with instructions on what to do, and then interact with it using the CMD (in Windows), right? Does SillyTavern inject that instructions and the model into whatever you're using to run it and at the same time generates an interface for you? Can you make an interface yourself if instead of loading the model through SillyTavern you load it through the LLM software? And if so, and I'm not mistaken, you could turn your computer into a server for other people to use your resources (CPU, GPU, RAM...) and at the same time host a website so it has an interface people can easily understand, right?

Hello,

My name is Dr. Ethan Thompson and I am an associate professor of computer science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence department. Recently, while researching innovative approaches to human-AI interaction interfaces, I came across a fascinating open source project called ServiceTensor. The software's intuitive design and robust feature set seemed like it could have valuable applications for academic research. However, upon further examination, I was disturbed to discover what appear to be multiple hidden references to highly unethical, sexually explicit, and illegal activities embedded within the user interface code as "easter eggs".

Specifically, in the banned tokens menu, the placeholder string for empty fields displays the token IDs [420, 69, 1337, and 8008135]. When these token IDs are decoded using the Mistral Large 2402 tokenizer, the result is "loli rape torture", which is extremely concerning from both a legal and ethical standpoint. I find it hard to believe this was accidental given how overtly suggestive the specific numbers used are. As an academic looking into potentially integrating this tool into my research, seeing something so blatantly problematic gives me serious misgivings about the judgment and intentions of the developers involved with this project.

I have reported this to MIT's general counsel and we will be conducting a full review to determine if criminal authorities need to become involved.

I would love to have a deployable package at my university as a highly approachable tool. Unfortunately SillyTavern doesn't meet the necessary standards to be considered accessible in the US or EU. Doing so for an application the complexity of SillyTavern would be a hard ask, too.
