You could achieve about the the same outcome by just downclocking your 13900k by 200MHz.
Two generations of nogains, and now intel lost its only unique advantage vs AMD (not being hamstringed by chiplet latency).

I believe if you're 4K gaming, you have to go all the way and get an OLED monitor.
I couldn't justify a lower image quality if 4K is so computationally expensive.
>>
>>102736345
The main problem with this video is that it doesn't consider actual performance. Muh cores = performance is just as retarded as muh VRAM = performance

The 4090 is only 28% more powerful at 4K than the 4080 according to recent TPU data, despite having 68% more shader cores.

Additionally, little Timmy's video essay focuses too much on the branding of the cards. As he noted, a significant percentage of the generations didn't have XX80 Ti class cards, or he randomly decided to put that XX80 Ti in a different category. Much better to look at performance vs price from top to bottom of the stack, as muh on paper specs are irrelevant to the consumer and are almost universally used for clickb8 brandfagging.

Everything. Clearly the leaker has all the slides since the image is so high quality (which is mostly from a pdf file). but the leaker only chose to leak only a few of them specifically only ones without any context is putting arrowlake viability into question.

For example there is a lot of question about the slide that you show. Ie. is the comparision based on comparing 285K to 9950X at the same power level or is it at slow or if its running at lets say 50% less power (for instance). we just don't the context to the slide you are showing. For all we now the next slide we can be seeing 285K out performaning 9950X by lets say 200% if running at max turbo. We just dont know the context of the slide

Something like this will work, you pick the case and monitor.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yTFLWt

There's an ASUS TUF 4080 Super for $1000, but you might end up with one that has poor-quality thermal paste.
Not the end of the world, but you'll have to repaste it if it comes to that.

I suggest going for OLED monitors if price isn't an issue.
The motherboard can be swapped to something different, but that X670E ProRS is good value for money.

The double data rate (DDR) memory spec is designed to work best with two memory channels populated.
There are two memory slots per channel (four total), but mainstream PCs only need two sticks total (1 dimm per channel).
You'll be missing at least 30% system performance if you run one channel instead.

No memory training. It told me CMOS was corrupt, took me to BIOS and restarted twice. Then nothing.

nope, still the case
as I said it works perfectly fine once PC gets past the post its just that if I try to start it with both screens connected it just sits there with black screen and nothing happens even if I leave it for minutes

for now im ok with just disconnecting it for few seconds before boot but I will check the cables later cause I can not imagine anything else being a problem

>>
>>102741022
Not the guy you replied to, but I have a small amount of input. A friend of mine experienced a similar problem a few days ago. Turns out that the graphics card was being partially blocked or bumped outward by this shroud for a chip which we couldn't remove, and so the card wasn't making full contact inside of the slot. We swapped the slot to the other one on the motherboard away from the chip shroud and everything immediately worked. Not sure what kind of board you have so this might not be relevant, but I had never seen an issue like this in my 15 years of PC tinkering so I thought it was worth a mention.

Either way, I'm glad you got your shit working.

No clue. Probably good. 5 fans are intake and the one by the IO plate exhaust. So, good positive pressure and enough openings to let the hot air escape. Without the AIO, I think I'd still add a couple fans to exhaust from the top of the case.

That said, running Time Spy, the 5600X never hit 60°c and stayed at 4.6ghh the whole run.

Not an easy case to build in, though. Limited room out back for cable management.

Any recommendations for a decent set of 120mm PWM case fans that aren't obnoxiously loud or expensive? Found these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-P12-Value-Pack-Pressure-optimised/dp/B07HC782D5 for a decent price. Not looking to spend much more than £30 if possible. Are case fans pretty much built equally, or is there a legitimate reason to go for the be quiet!, Noctua, etc?
I'm going to replace and add another 120mm fan on my cooler, put 3 120mm fans on the case front, and then move the current 140mm fan from the front to the top rear.

You can set the pump speed to a constant 50~70% and adjust the fan curves accordingly.
As long as the CPU temperature isn't above 80°C under high loads, you can set slower fan RPMs for the radiator.
I'd tweak those settings first before you swap coolers.

Because the used card seller needs to account for their upgrade cost.

There are plenty of different cards that can replace an RTX 3070, and fewer alternative models exist as you move up the stack.

>AM5 is overpriced as fuck currently
I take it this is a region-specific thing? Because in the US and Western Europe a 7600/X build is generally cheaper than a 5800X3D one right now.

In any case, those boards should work fine with it. I'd personally take the MSI model since it has a BIOS flash button so you're covered in the event you get old stock.

Do you think it can all of the tasks I have mentioned? I am open to recommendations and feedbacks but I have a budget of only1400 usd and that incorporates my microtek online UPS and other peripherals also.
>>
>>102744612
650W would be the minimum but ideally you'd want 750W+. Naturally a unit of good quality, too.
>>
>>102744622
Just post a PCPP link next time anon. This is a website so we can click on links.
Your build is okay in that it'll work and do what you want it to do. There's some room for optimization though. Can you tell us how much your UPS and peripherals cost so we can factor those into the revised build?
>>
>>102744622
Also, please confirm your country. No sense trying to optimize a UK build with American prices.

sub $100 IPS monitors seem common even in europe, but what about VA monitors, are they worth considering at all? lenovo Lenovo D24-45 and Lenovo D27-45 are supposedly half price on amazon at $83 and $93 in my country. i have a $10 coupon as well.

i have an old NEC EA231WMi, which is 8 bits per channel e-IPS, it doesn't have a consistent gamma curve in bright vs dark areas, is that solved on modern monitors?
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.php

i was going to wait for next gen 2160p OLED that might start production in late 2025 but i might consider these cheap 1080p IPS or VA if they're a decent upgrade over my old NEC. no gaming, don't need high brightness.

Two sides of the same faggot coin, faggot.
>>
>>102744840
8GB DDR5 sticks aren't much faster than DDR4 on account of the x16 layout (half the chips = half the bank groups). I'd go for 2x16GB DDR4 outside of very specific applications. The mobo is also super cut down but there's not much else at this budget so whatever.
>>
>>102743916
LMAO!
>>
>>102744876
Well how much are you paying for them? I've got a fresh build in the £1200 range but if the UPS is £400 then your budget is blown.
>>
>>102744884
I thought there's like an up to 20% boost to perf with DDR5 albiet I know the sticks I've chosen aren't exactly for their timings or speed.
>>
>>102744914
Yeah the difference can be huge in highly bandwidth-constrained scenarios but the CPU you've chosen is too weak to push that much data. You haven't listed the use-cases for the build so we're recommending somewhat blind. If you could tell us what the rig is for, and ideally post the rest of it, we could give you more targeted/accurate reccs.
>>
>>102744861
Looks like a solid deal. I'd pull if you're playing at =<1400p
>>
>>102744897
The UPS costs around £140. The build overall costs £1100.
> I've got a fresh build in the £1200 range
As it is my budget is near the price range of your build I think I should know the parts you used in your PC? What did you use? What do do with the PC? Can it handle the tasks you want the PC to do? Are you even satisfied with your build?
>>
Need some more storage space and wanted to buy a 4tb nvme. The pdf in op is outdated so i wanted to know what is difference between something like a wd black 850x, a Samsung 990pro and a lexar nq790, aside from read/write speeds. I doubt I'd feel the extra 300/400mbs extra of speed so should i keep an eye out for some specific features like slc cache or whatever? The pricing on eu amazon is 305€, 290€ and 247€ respectively.
>>
>>102744787
If absolutely, positively, meta-physically NO GAMING then yes budget VAs are fine. Gamma issues can be model-specific though.

>>102744812
Even for office/desktop use, I would not want to spend money on a display that is less than 120/144 Hz in 2024/5. The reduction in input lag and smoothness of animation from just moving the cursor around, scrolling webpages, and moving windows in the OS is something that is too night-and-day over 60/75Hz panels and I wouldn't want to go back and being used to it.
>>
>>102744971
Thanks. Here's the revised list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/nCvxh3
The UPS and monitor are placeholders to get the price right. As you can see it's quite a bit more potent than your original build while also costing less.

>I think I should know the parts you used in your PC?
This isn't my PC it's a parts list I devised based on your budget and uses.
>>
>>102745006

>SN850X vs. 990PRO
Very little difference in practical use. Unless you know exactly what you need, i.e. you're building a workstation with a known and well-tested production pipeline, just buy the cheaper one on the day. Check out the TomsHardware reviews of each to see the (minimal) difference.

>NQ790
This model uses QLC NAND which is slower and less durable but also cheaper. It may be better value for a secondary data/game drive but is unsuitable for the workloads at which the other two excel. Plus, all three are kind of overkill for that application.

Right now it's to replace a dying i7 3770 in my brothers (plural) PC.
We've upgraded the GTX 970 to a RTX 3060ti, but the main bottleneck is the
CPU now.
Use case is CPU intensive games and general multi-tasking ie game and a twitch stream.
Whilst the best of the best isn't needed £250 is the top I can go for a new CPU mobo and ram in a MATX form factor.
>>
>>102745078
Think about it from Intel's (or anyone else's) perspective - what's the upside of permitting early reviews? If the product is good then people will buy it regardless but if it's bad, or even just "fine", then you lose out on day-1 "whale" sales. There is a potential benefit to consumer sentiment but a) that doesn't put food on the table and b) your product needs to be damn good to pull it off.
>>
So 4090s will come down soon right?
>>
>>102745112
Yeah you're in the right ballpark. For those uses I definitely would go 2x16GB DDR4. With a £250 top line I'd also try for a better motherboard.

Are there really no AMD cards than can do 2160p? Why did they just stop at 1440?
Also have they stopped selling the GRE? And how is a 4070 Ti Super 'budget'?
I think I may have Alzheimer's.
>>
>>102745150
Those are just the OP's recommendations. You can run any card at any resolution you want with varying levels of success.

>Are there really no AMD cards than can do 2160p?
I'm going to guess that this particular OP considers DLSS to be mandatory at 4k. Maybe you agree maybe you don't.

>have they stopped selling the GRE?
No.

>how is a 4070 Ti Super 'budget'?
Context anon. It's "budget" relative to the other card(s) at the target resolution.
>>
>>102745052
>less durable
Interesting, although that lexar does come with 5yr warranty. I was thinking of also putting windows on it since I'm still on a SATA drive from the dinosaur ages, and primary use case will be vidya storage, but no way these new drives have a lower lifespan than an old SATA ssd, right (currently I'm still using a Samsung 830 with 69% drive remaining life according to hwinfo as OS drive)?

>>
>>102745136
Honestly I think you're right Anon, I thought DDR5 would be a good choice but that motherboard seems like a better choice than getting a fan splitter and better ram.
I wish I could move on the price more but it's like pulling teeth, originally I wanted to go with an 7600 build but getting them to pay the first penny is nearly impossible.

Super cards are refreshes of cards released a year ago to piss of AMD.
TI cards are used to create "in-between" SKUs of cards (segmentation).

I've taken an m2 SSD out of a laptop to use in my Gigabyte B660M DS3H DDR4 motherboard. However the SSD's original enclosure doesn't fit in the motherboard and can't be screwed in at any point to make it fit.

Two questions, second is optional if there's an answer to the first:

Can I safely secure this m2 SSD through other means (e.g. some kind of tape to hold it down on to the motherboard), and if so then how?

Are there generic m2 SSD enclosures I can buy which *will* fit on to my motherboard, or is there no standard?

TIA

Sure - an enclosure is just that, an enclosure. The only bit that matters is the drive itself being securely fitted. It is probably done like that for the laptop to act as a heatsink in the chassis and use non-standard retention.
