I've installed W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021 but can't install Photoshop because it needs w10 22h2 but I can't update to that version apparently. How do I upgrade to get intall Phototshop? Or amI shit out of luck?

Use Photoshop CS6, the last version before cloud faggotry.
You certainly won't need the absolute latest version unless you're a professional and even then it's questionable. Photoshop is a very mature software by now. More like ancient.

I use it at work. Generative fill is slightly useful, but still needs work to smooth things out when you generate to expand photos (using the same tools you already used to generate your own fills before AI). The lack of a competent upscaler really limits PS's AI feature set. Since they removed all 3D capability from PS to sell you more products (not included in the CS standard package), it's hard to recommend going past CS6.

All the AI features are cloud-based, so you *will* have problems if you try to use them without paying.

And what do you need it for? Are you running VirtualBox or similar? If so you don't need to enable it in Windows Features, as long as the hardware support is there VirtualBox or whatever will work just fine.

Installed 11 on a 4th gen i7 laptop and it's... surprisingly not shit, it feels relatively smooth and decently responsive, definitely not as good as 10 (specially the file explorer), but it's barely noticeable 2bh. I found it interesting since I've tested 11 on more powerful and supported hardware and sometimes it feels way jankier, maybe it's because of 24H2 or I just got lucky with drivers. I made a in-place upgrade from 10 and it worked fine.

Although it definitely feels like it eats just a bit more ram and CPU, even after doing some debloating with shutup10 but at least fans don't kick up more often than with 10

Is it true you're supposed to lower the desktop resolution before playing a game for better performance? Not talking about the game resolution, the desktop resolution.
I can understand if it's running on borderless windowed fullscreen, but actual fullscreen? Does that matter at all?
>>
>>102801270
>Does that matter at all
nope, the game should switch the resolution if you are running it fullscreen at lower than desktop resolution
>>
>>102801321
Yeah, the game itself changes the desktop resolution, right? I mean I'll be honest, I don't get why it has to do that either, why it's tied together, mostly because I see explorer.exe and game.exe as separate entities that don't rely on each other but maybe they do

But yeah, saw some dude talking about lowering desktop resolution as if it was giving the game more juice. He was a tech guy, too

Kind of a weird issue but ever since a recent update I've noticed a lot of my startup programs aren't launching when I start my PC anymore and I have to start them manually, despite still showing as enabled on the task manager startup tab. >>
How can I copy my entire C drive to a folder on another drive? I just want to ensure I have everything. When I just copy and paste it gives lots of access errors & other weird errors.
>>
>>102801426
If you don't want to deal with installing any external programs I usually do something like this

>open elevated (admin) command prompt
>C:
>X: (where X: is the letter of the drive you wanna copy to)
>mkdir [whatever]
>cd [whatever]
>robocopy C: X: /E /B /XJ /MT /R:0 /W:0

Then let it go for a while. After it's done you can run the command again and it should skip any files that have already been copied and are unchanged since last run and quickly do anything it failed to copy or changed since last time.
>>
>>102801417

Windows 11: Everything works, immediate compatibility with new input device, simple, polished, never need to troubleshoot anything, well made programs.

Linux: programs look 20 years out of date, compatibility issues, need to troubleshoot often, dinky programs, still doesn't have features Windows has had for ages, many problems unsolvable until patched by devs, freeware ecosystem.

Being on Windows is so nice compared to Linux. I don't know why anyone would bother with freeware OS.

It's an old Asus Zenbook, like six years old. BIOS is up-to-date and I'm pretty sure I have all the power settings set for stability, but I'd have to look again. I've been having sleep issues for years, and I've tried all kinds of settings. It may not even be a sleep problem exactly... if I just close the lid for too long while it's running, that usually results in the same style of crash (black screen, lights on, fan running, but have to hard reset). I tried rolling back video drivers for several versions, but that didn't have an effect.

And I see no information for 11, I can wait.

I can check chipset drivers later
Sometimes I wonder if it's a hard drive issue... because I have dropbox and I know if it's currently 'syncing' and I hit sleep, it will definitely crash. But after the latest update it's crashing even when not syncing, and even when HD activity is 0% in taskman
Maybe later I'll try closing the dropbox app entirely and see if that helps...

So long post, possibly torment of my own creation, but here goes;
>been running off of a decent work laptop for better part of a decade now; got it for free and it's still fine for the most part, just lacking in terms of it being a laptop (eg, memory issues, especially when running VEGAS, occasional APPCRASH / BSOD)
>see a PC online that's way too good of a deal to pass up (4060 + 5 5500 + all periphs for $780), take the dive
>new PC arrives, defaults on W11, hate it, try to stick W7 on it
(spare me the lecture, I know the downsides, I don't care, I just want what I'm familiar with + just werkz, and I've never had a security issue in the years I've used it, compatibility issues mean nothing to me, I know you can just change the registry for most programs otherwise)
>it's not behaving at all, mess around with it for a while (main thing being that the keyboard / mouse drivers aren't installing from USB, even with the with rufus + motherboard USB driver things; while on desktop install it'd get part-way through then just refuse IIRC something to do with system language, but there was other things that I was eithe too tired to remember or give a fuck) - basically, at every turn fucking up in 'some way'
>after 2 days of my free time (not as much as it sounds to be fair once waiting on downloads was accounted for, but still a solid few hours), decide to just send it to the local shop and let them deal with it; since I wanted them to buy a few other things from them like sort out some HDD's for storage (they offer them at a conditionally discounted rate) + do a check to make sure it wasn't burnt out after crypto or something (if it sounds too good to be true etc)

>cut to today
>phone call, goes along the lines of "yeah, everything seems fine but it's too new to run W7, wdywd"
>stinks of bullshit, go online, skim around seems bullshit, but now it's got me thinking

[2/2]

So here's my crossroads, in preferable order;
1. Am I just missing something obvious here, and I can actually get W7 working? I've seen mention of wufuc, and I think that might be the solution to this issue - but at the same time, it doesn't change I can't get the initial install sorted myself, and I'm not sure what my bro is running into
2. Should I trade in for slightly worse hardware just to get W7 working if that's the main problem? (This is more an emphasis on how much I don't want to do the next point)
3. Is W10 to a point where it's not a complete bloated piece of shit? This is my absolute last resort since I'm an unapologetic stick in the mud, but I'd guess I could move across if it doesn't run like shit, if I can sort out a similar UI (currently on a W7 UxStyle + personal custom goatse windows icon in the bottom left because it makes me laugh) and not have 101 pieces of bloatware and unremovable spyware running in the background at all times.

Begrudgingly, it might be the case. How unbad can you make it these days out of 10? Is the ghost of Bill Gates sacrificed soul still going to try to monitor me to some degree, or has it finally been cleaned up.
Not going to change me hating the everloving shit out of W10, or stop me from trying to constantly stick W7 back on it and I'm probably still going to stick with my W7top for day-to-day shitposting and browsing.

>>102816126
That was a thought process too, since Archive was down (hence me sending it to the shop). Apparently the issue is with the Motherboard itself (Busses are incompatible, first I've ever heard of such a thing), and it's crashing mid-install.

I tried shadowmaker but it doesn't let me easily select what drives I want included and what folders I want excluded like the windows one would.

Any recs?

I've installed mpc-hc but I'm not getting (some) video thumbnails in the explorer, just the mpc icon. This is the first time I installed it without the k-lite pack. Am I missing a toggle somewhere in the settings or do I need to install the codec pack?
>>
>>102818685
Just install k-lite codec pack mega.
It comes with Icarus or something that does previews, that is a separate program.

My grandpa just called me saying he "messed something up while trying to open his emails" and now "everything is wrong"
I think he reset or logged out of his user or something, he seems to be missing his usual task bar icons and edge seems to be logged out/his history or bookmarks or whatever are missing. I never used w11.
One clue from a photo he sent me, is that on the desktop there is now a file "Deleted Apps".
What could he have possibly done to reset everything, and can I unfuck it when I inevitably drive over there after work?

How do I stop reinstalling Windows every X months?
I keep installing shit over shit which slows it down by a tiny bit
I like how fast a fresh install is but there's too much shit I need to install to make it usable

Maybe upgrade your (slowest replacable component)? I upgraded my GPU from an really, really old 980 MX to a 4070 Super and it made every.thing.better for me. Another good trick is to maximize the amount of RAM in your system, just stuff it full of matching RAM even if it means tossing the old RAM out.

>I keep installing shit over shit which slows it down by a tiny bit
What do you mean? Are you installing software just to test them out and leave them on your system?
Here's what you do: take note of all software and settings and routines you do on a fresh install (ooshutup10, winutil, windows updates, drivers/SDIO, winget, office suites, etc). Then if you just download a shitton of software for shits and giggles or for giving them a try run, use the windows sandbox.
>>
>>102820589
no retard, only working as expected

>Are you installing software just to test them out and leave them on your system?
Yeah to test some when I need to do X thing, I do uninstall them with Revo Uninstaller to completely remove everything but I'm sceptical in it actually removing 100% of it
>>
>>102820801
post your system specs (CPU/GPU/motherboard/RAM/HDD) and maybe we can help with some system tuning, anon
>>
>>102820801
I don't know if it'll fit your needs, but check out the windows sandbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UywHb0rOHVI
This way it won't leave a trace on your system, no extra software needed

i personally would max the RAM, Windows will run more smoothly with 32GB and much more smoothly with 64GB

>pic related and my box (which is realllly old) runs Windows like a champ.

Been thinking about that but not sure what speed though, I'll ask /pcbg/ that question, especially since I'll have to go with 2x16 as my mobo only have 2 slots

if you can swing 64GB into the budget you will be happy long time

Because I fucking said so, and that's the end of it. Maybe the 0.00001s extra it takes me to scroll past it, or the 0.001W required to display it's ugly icon is enough of an inconvenience for me to want it gone.
