I had been running Ubuntu 16.04 essentially untouched since it came out, with the exception of always maintaining my own recent locally built git. I was so burned out that eventually I got rid of all technology in my house except for a refurbished cheap ipad and an xbox, which I can also use to stream TV like things via Edge full screen. It's like I was just sick in my soul.Honestly, seeing these threads over time somehow got a pulse going back into my heart. Like that faggot with the W10 IoT setup, shit reminds me of the early days getting Enlightenment blinged out on my Slackware and trying to get the X mode settings right without starting my CRT on fire. Or even back further trying to get expanded memory tricked out on my 386sx16 running desqview and getting that 1200 baud whistling to the nearest BBS to check my fidonet messages.Somehow I got it into my head to give things another crack. Bought an i7 9700K with 32GB ECC and 512GB SSD off ebay for $200, kitted it out with a new nvme 2TB, asked around if anyone had a unused monitor (someone did), and built a shitty desk for an odd space by a window. It's not the money, I could have spent $10,000, it's just something else, like a weed growing in a crack in the cement. Kind of just for the fuck of it all.Which brings me to current moment grappling with Ubuntu 24.04.1. Jesus christ things have gotten bad. It's a cacophony of neo-boomers (millenials), controlling trannies, pajeet random brownian motion, and chink driver quality. It's fucking dire.
