'm torn on which basic Samsung tablet to get. I know there's the A9 Plus now, but both of these are very cheap used, I'm finding excellent deals on both and I'm torn in which to get. I mean, the A8 has 4GB of RAM, while the A7 has 3GB, for a lot of people that'd settle it, but I'm torn on one thing, A8 has a Unisoc Tiger T618, while A7 has a Snapdragon 662. I'm thinking of the Tab A7 simply because of it's LineageOS support, which the Tab A8 lacks, but the 3GB of RAM, compared to the A8's 4GB of RAM, is also a big deal. The A7's processor is a Snapdragon chip, while the A8's isn't, but from what I've seen the A8's slightly better, so when it comes to hardware the A8 takes it, it'll also be supported for a year longer. It's a hard choice.

Are you guys informed on smartphone security and shit? I got a Fiio dongle dac which has it's own android control app for EQ and other settings. The problem is that it wont connect unless you give the app both location as well as nearby devices permissions. Why would an app like that would need either of these and why should I allow them? Nearby devices I guess for bluetooth or wifi devices I assume? This isn't wireless though. It's just a USB connection. And what does my location have to do with listening to music? I also think I read in the terms that the app can read information related to your music library or what you're listening to but I don't remember. That's ridiculous to me.

Two months with the Pixel 9 Pro XL and for the most part I haven't really missed Samsung that much. I still have my OG Galaxy Buds Pro and a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic but I'm not really using them, might get a Pixel Watch 3 but the Pixel Buds Pro 2 sucked, horrible ANC quality and weird audio issues.

Actually the battery degrades way slower if you charge to only 80%.

Charging to 100% is 1 battery cycle. Charging to 80% is 0.2 battery cycles. Charging to 80% twice in a day does less strain than charging it to 100% once. You don't have to charge to 80% every night, just do it on the nights that you know you'll be home.

How long are you planning on keeping it? Pixel 7 Pro MAY get its last OS update next year October, with a couple years of security updates.

8a on the other hand has support until 2031 both OS and security updates. Even if you want to run GrapheneOS you need current Google updates or you don't get updates for GrapheneOS.

The main differences between the two is size, 7 Pro is larger... Telephoto camera on the 7 Pro can take great pics from far away, 8a doesn't have it... finally, I'm pretty sure the 8a has a plastic frame but I could be mistaken.
