Between my server and desktop I will eventually employ 15 if the cheap shit thermalright fans9 will run 24/7, 6 will be intermittent use.I'm a interested into how long it takes for one to fail.I'm honestly confident that the leds or electronics will fail before the bearing, I've never had a fan that was bought separately fail or get super noisy, even basic sleeve bearing fans after 8+ years of mixed RPM use.

Hey anons, I'm in the market right now to upgrade my GPU from my 1060 6gb, and I'm pretty torn between the 4060 or the 3060 12gb. For some context, I bought the 1060 in 2018 for my original system built in 2012, and last year I finally built a whole new system but moved the 1060 into it. So from a GPU perspective, it's been 6 years. I'm still on 1080p and plan to remain that way for at least a few more years because my kids are little and I want to wait until they stop breaking everything to upgrade to a 4k OLED TV. So I'm mainly looking for the best 1080p card that can run games best for the next ~5 years.I'm on the fence because the main problem I'm facing right now with these newer games is VRAM. 6gb just is not enough to run these newer titles with everything cranked. So I'm wondering if I should go with the older generation with more VRAM, or if I would be better off with the performance improvements of the newer 4000 series with only 8gb. They're both $300.Appreciate any and all advice!

When you get the 4060, it will give you more FPS, which is will increase smoothness, but in my opinion it just hides fact not every frame has an equal frame time (so you might rotate your camera in some AAA game, and you might notice the fps stutters a little bit because obviously more / less things being rendered causes the FPS to change).Of course the 1060 can't do much, like to run cyberpunk you need to use mostly low settings + FSR to reach 60fps (but the steamdeck only gets like 30fps if you are lucky).

>Samsung is trying to buy IntelI've bought only intel cpus since Prescott. Could call me a fan boy even though I'm in my 30's. It's kind of a melancholic feeling that the company that invented the microchip, easily in the top 5 the most humanity changing inventions in the last 2 million years alongside things like the plow and the combustion engine, may be going insolvent soon. The father of the modern age is about to be traded and bought like it's just another company in the gutter. It's not like I'm a mindless consumer though, I bought 11th gen in spite of zen 3 being out, I knew it was inferior but I value platform stability over everything, and I trusted intel more than amd. Trusted. M-Die 3Gb chips are easier to clock high than A-Die 2Gb chips. 2x16GB A-Die make sense if you want something like DDR5-6000 C28 or lower, otherwise 2x24GB M-Die is better. Going dual rank 2x32GB or God forbid single rank 4x16GB is mental retardation.

Data gathered by overclock.net users clearly showed Intel did in fact bin the IMC for i9s.I don't know if it's true because no one ever tested it but he also claimed some really esoteric stuff like mounting pressure affecting memory stability beyond thermal implications of bad/good mount. ADL and RPL are just really fickle with DDR5 at frequency, it don't see why he would attribute its stochastic nature to mounting pressure. I have never noticed a difference between different coolers and a delidded 13900K which affects the mounting pressure a lot because you reduce the distance between the die and IHS by removing the glue and replacing indium solder with liquid metal. So what's the rationale behind AIOs being near perfect with reliability with zero maintenance while a custom loop needs vigorous yearly maintenance?AIOs are mixed metal loops and are apparently "fine" for years with a glycol based coolant, custom loops are usually full copper and it's easy enough to get coolant but are still problematic according to the internet.

a few days after applying this PTM7950 thing I read that you're supposed to have it go through some heat cycles by running heavy applications for a bit then idling then back again with the benchmarkingIs it strictly necessary? Do I need to sit there for about an hour or two doing this shit or is it just all about seeing results quicker?

sorry for the taboo, but are pre-builts worth it for the tech inept?

>>103015702Brighter in non-white colors and a wider color gamut. Also most QD-OLEDs look sharper as they come default with a glossy finish while regular OLEDs are default Matte which gives the picture a hazy look. If you are on a budget and the OLED is $100/150 or more dollars cheaper I'd consider it otherwise QD-OLED is generally the better option. Keep in mind QD-OLEDs don't have a polarizer meaning that in bright environments where you can't control ambient direct lighting by dimming lights or curtians/shades from rear windows the blacks will become lifted with a purple tinge (not noticeable with content).

>>103015549Nzxt's can do that

Hey peeceebeegeeI'm trying to install nvidia drivers through nvcleanstall without telemetryEverytime I disable driver (not installer) telemetry the installation just fails. I'm using Wangblows 11 24h2. Installing them without disabling driver telemetry works fine. Anyone run into the same issue?
I had a dream that Intel double downed on pajeets and the company stopped existing by the end of the year after reading a news article at night about boeing bringing back retired staff to fix their issues.
>>103016413No one ever said "My PC is running too cool!". Get as much airflow as possible and work on it being positive pressure. And, with more fans, you can adjust the curves so it's not as loud under low loads.
What's the best price/performance GPU currently?
Should I get a ASRock B660M Phantom Gaming 4 or an MSI Pro B760M-E for an I5 12600K?They're both on sale at a similar price, I've seen good things about the MSI PRO but the PG4 looks like a more complete package.
>>103016590It's an important factor, but I would narrow down by what resolution and fps is your target and choose from there. I mean a GTX 1080 can rock 1080p gaming and can be had on the cheap.
>>103016640Look at features first. Number of M.2 slots, things like wifi 6 and a USB-c header, the number of power lanes, the VRM cooling.

>>103016868OLED is perfectly fine in well light rooms, the only reason it's called out is due to QD-OLED having a glossy coating which r reflects light.
>>103016868What many overlook when it comes to brightness especially with QD-OLED is not only are every component color other than white brighter and purer but that saturation and expanded gamut allows images to be perceived as brighter than they would be by nominal nits measures alone vs. LCD according to the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch Effect. For example in picrel all the colors are exactly the same luminescence but our eyes see the Red & Magenta as being brighter.https://tftcentral.co.uk/articles/exploring-oled-brightness-improvements-woled-vs-qd-oled-and-the-need-for-new-metrics-and-specs
>>103014869hd599 or hd600 if that is your idea of cheap (you need a dac+amp though)
>>103016917I understand the complaint if it's direct fucking sunlight, then you need assloads of nits that will fry your eyes any other time in the day, if you gonna place infront of a window with the screen facing it, get a bright lcd since it will look like shit regardlessthe glossy coating is literally fine did not see anything, and if it's fine matte will just be worse>>103016936I realized this on lcd running a sub 100% srgb gamut display and having to crank up color saturation just to get any color back and more saturated color = more percieved brightness even if there is no more direct lightI do not overlook it I know it's important, never again buying shit color reproduction displaysit's looking like it's qdoled time

I'm starting to see the limitations of mITX motherboards. Not only is there basically no choice, the lack of PCIe slots when one is dedicated to the GPU kinda FUCKING sucks if you don't like what they put on the motherboard.Like, say I don't like the Ethernet chip on the Gigabyte B650I Aortus Ultra. I'd have to desolder and then resolder the fucking Ethernet chip on the motherboard itself. I don't even know if that's possible, but I sure as fuck know that it's not a good idea. Maybe taking the SFFPC pill was a bad idea...
