How do I bullshit my way into literally any tech position? I'm working on my degree but I cannot fucking live on 18/h from a bullshit job and I'm wasting my life and I live paycheck to paycheck.Should I just lie on my resume? I got promoted this week. My bosses indirectly said they were scared of losing me ("we know other companies are reaching out to you"). I still plan to leave the company in a few months, I get opportunities from recruiters that would double my current salary. I just wanted to be able to say I did a good job in my first role, now that I've done a good job it's time to move on.

Is having the CISSP worth a damn if I don't aim for a cybersecurity job? I do quality for 4 of the domains, but I'm looking at pivoting towards a more managerial role rather than one strictly centered around IT. Enlighten me, anons.
>>103066907It's the easiest, that's why.
>>103067260My guess is that my company (over 20k people) can see LinkedIn metrics on certain people (like me), I only get reached out to "in writing" on LinkedIn from competitors, I get roughly one serious message per month. I expect my LinkedIn to be monitored which is fine because the actual offers I'm considering aren't on LinkedIn, I would never use LinkedIn for actual jobseeking, only the meme of scaring my current employer and making myself look competitive, because apparently no one has a skillset and credentialing and location that I do. A recruiter directly told me I am "one of a dozen people in [large metro] with your combo", I didn't respond to that guy just like I didn't respond to the other dozens of recruiters and CEOs and everyone else directly messaging me, I didn't say anything when directly accosted by my bosses in the pre-promotion chat we had, I know my worth as a hard worker and so does everyone else, if I say I'm going then the world will acknowledge and flip in my hands willingly.
How is the IT job market for Americans in South Korea?
Reposting:Who should I vote for, twg? I'm legitimately evenly split between kamala (less chaos, slightly better economic policy, obvious downsides), not voting at all (maybe the moral choice) or Trump (tiny chance at reversing American decline at the cost of extreme instability and more billionaire corruption). Bonus points go to the candidate who will do the most damage to the software industry.

Why is anyone in here trying to get into this industry? You have to be a fucking idiot if you don't have specific reasons. I did a PhD for 5 years, I worked 2 years as an academic researcher. During those 7 years, I have managed research projects, coded a lot, taught students etc. Now, I'm applying for jobs outside of academia. What should I state as my experience? What roles should I apply for? I kinda don't think that I should apply for the same jobs as some 21 year old bachelor graduates with literally zero experience.
If I am a self taught dev and mainly program databases, sometimes work with C# and JS, would it be worth for me to learn assembly programming or doing a course in C compiler development? I've found that learning low level stuff helps me understand how things work, where devs with degrees and more experience struggle to get it, but that has all been in relation to databases. So I am not sure if learning assembly or C compiler programming would be worth it?
