Everything is already from China, but in here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

1st rule of /csg/: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

check if you have the pcie key slot under your IO before ordering anything.
in this exact scenario I usually buy a PCIeX1 kit like the one in the image because it comes with the PCI bracket, antenna, and wire connectors.
I then splice and solder extra length to the wire to run all the way from the IO/wifi card to the empty PCI case bracket.
you can find Intel wirelessAC kits on ebay for $10

>anon gets a memecatprinter doesnt know about the open source app
oh i tried a couple of them, none even detected the printer. mxw01 is not on the list of any.
expanding on this thing, i opened it up (two screws on the back, two on the front bellow the hinge) and while its a very simplistic design its quite well built. foam padded 1.2ah 18650 with protection circuit, and the paper feed is powered by a motor that looks like the ones found inside a 3.5" diskette reader to move the heads. i gathered what info i could find from the inside, sorry didnt take any pictures, and the main processor only has
>bp24948
printed on it, seems like a fake model number. there is a soic8 tp4056 to handle the cell charging, a
>sa883c
that seems like it handles the paper burning strip thing but i cant for the life of me find any information about it so it might also be a fake designator. and like 5 or 6 sot23-3 mosfets/transistors to drive the paper feed
i also did some digging into code used to connect to these things and the chink app code a bit. i decompiled what i coudl from the chink app, its a shitty react app, so i could only get a crappy 600k lines of very poor js code that i couldnt make heads or tails out of it (hermes minified/protected) and a bunch of java files that also didint tell me any sort of commands that were sent to the thing. all i was able to learn after skimming through some of it is that it uses bluetooth le and doesnt seem to actually to conenct to the printer, just issued a bunch of specific 2-byte command to it (or to one of its not advertised capabilities bluetooth functions or whatever they are called).
i reckon i could try some more brainlet debugging using an esp32 and step by step iterating through the connection procedure emulating one of the parts each at a time but that is tedious.
well see if i ever have the time to do that

Some new stuff. Cat toy fell apart and started fraying after one use. Also adhesive organizers. I got two extra clear ones that I am going to put on my kitchen cabinets for spice storage. Looks great and comes with drainage holes so water/grime won't build up. Also got a silicone ladle and spatula. Very impressed with the quality
>>103106519
I've purchased plenty. A lot of them are the same products as what you'd find at petco, petsmart, daiso, etc sans the markup. I've seen plenty of cat products from ali/temu that I've purchased at those places.
Like everything chinkshit, some pet products can be exceptionally shitty such as the teaser toy that I got today. So don't set your expectations too high.
Things like jingle balls, corrugated cardboard scratchers, most grooming tools, placemats with raised edges (great for cats that knock water bowls around), customized pet tags (way cheaper than buying in person), and so on are always a good bet. Don't buy any toys with stretchy/elastic strings. They're a choking hazard. I also got a pet trimmer from there awhile back for shaving my Maine Coon's butt. It works really well.
Don't bother with catnip toys. Also avoid the chink automatic litterboxes. I have heard about cats being crushed to death by those.

They are fully ball-joint and cute. Faces are a bit flat and the accessories are held on with putty/bluetack, and are hard to properly pose, but since 6 of them combined are half the price of one nice Azone doll, I still want them.

youtube.com/watch?v=Pj-o4jLP_Rs - woman review
>>
>>103111639
Yeah the faces are putting me off a bit, maybe if they were a bit cheaper I might buy some blind boxes. Though on a different note you did remind me that I actually bought some 1/12 assault lily azone dolls for cheap ages ago and promptly forgot about them.
>>
>>103111597
>>103111610
Those are good points. Most western countries don't produce cheap products on their own so since they don't compete it may not have any effect. Because it can still be imported through other countries at only 20% it probably won't have much of an impact on consumer spending.

Anyone wants to wager whether these jackets are gray market genuine items or replicas?
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006836824244.html - supposed to be an Arc'Teryx Alpha SV
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005007394776657.html - supposed to be an Arc'Teryx Beta SR
I found out that they're manufactured in China for the chink market, and at some times like during the pandemic for the western market as well since the Canadian factory couldn't keep up with the demand.
I bought a pair of Asics running shoes for about €43 some 4-5 years ago and I didn't find anything that led me to believe they were replicas, but even if they were I'm not sure I would have found out, while a technical jacket that's supposed to be made of multi layer Gore-Tex would be a waste of money if it wasn't really made of Gore-Tex or an equivalent fabric.

>What if it's -5°C and snowing heavily?
Armpit vents on a conventional raincoat, that allows for sweat to leave the coat and keeps you dry. You could also use a normal non water-repellent winter coat and put a rain poncho over it. You can also go with a waxed jacket or parka. Lots of options that aren't gore-tex. Try some stuff out, see what works best for you. If you must have gore-tex anyway, pick up a cheap alternative since the patent has expired in 1997 and anyone can produce it.
>>
>>103112225
>waterproof and breathable
do you know that this doesnt really work? it has a slightly better breathability for a given permeability, but it is not that much better than anything else, so you will never be both waterproof and breathable, is a range
>>
>>103112305
>>103112317
I could use a number of different solutions if I were to forego some or all of my requirements.
>a gore-tex jacket is not breathable and waterproof
A new goretex jacket is going to be 100% waterproof and pretty breathable, did you ever own one?
You guys are pretty good at explaining why I'm asking the wrong questions, but you've yet to answer one of them directly.
>>

>>
>>103112346
>A new goretex jacket is going to be 100% waterproof and pretty breathable, did you ever own one?
yes i had one and no it is no, the real waterproof ones are also airtight when wet, the breathability part comes from the general design.
also see https://youtu.be/GGEzJJYiROk
>>
>>103112346
>A new goretex jacket is going to be 100% waterproof and pretty breathable, did you ever own one?
Yes I did and yes they are breathable and very waterproof, but not at the same time. That is one of the issues I have with them, what's the point of breathable raincoat if it isn't breathable when it rains?
>>
i think goretex is just some sort of nylon-polyester with a thin layer of some waterproofing polymer on the outside, while the inside doesn't which is why people think it's breathable

Are the 64gb SD cards from kodak legit?
$2 for 64gb, I don't know if this is already considered a too good to be true deal
>>
>>103112446
No it's a polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS), similar to the coating on a non-stick pan. It has a semipermeable membrane of the stuff usually as the middle layer of the coat, which doesn't allow liquid water to enter while allowing air to flow through. Once the outside is saturated with water it doesn't allow air to flow through anymore, making the main feature pretty useless. Many of the studied PFAS are known carcinogens and last pretty much forever in nature. It has been found all throughout the human body similar microplastics, even in the population of people that live on islands far away from any factories that produce the stuff. Gore-tex is not only a scam, but also extremely harmful to our health and the environment.

update on this https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/102637013/#102661197
contacted seller, on ebay, about it on the same day i posted that, seller apologized and said he would re-ship it. two weeks pass, contacted seller again asking if he ended up shipping the thing or not, turns out he shipped another package 13 days ago and provided me with the new tracking number. a couple extra weeks go by, new package tracking info had no updates for 9 days straight after "plane arriving", since period for opening refund case was almost running out (original package should have arrived one weeks after placing order) opened case stating that i still wanted the item, so that in case something goes south i still had one extra month to sort things out. ebay fully refunded a couple hours later. left neutral feedback and seller apologized again for wasting my time. re-shipped package arrived yesterday, asked seller to allow me to revise the feedback, changed it to positive.
and this is how i "wasted" 1.5 months of time only to get a couple of items for free in the end. stupidest part of it all is that the items themselves were being sold at just 30% of their regular price, so i would have gotten a good deal either way.

Gore-Tex is made of teflon/PTFE, which is not a PFAS.
The outside layer of a Gore-Tex jacket will be impregnated with a substance that makes the fabric waterproof, so for as long as that substance is there (months of heavy use or years of moderate use in general, after which the coating can be reapplied) the outside layer won't absorb any water.
PTFE might break down into PFAS in certain conditions, such as when it's heated above ~260°C, and those pose health and environmental concerns, but saying the teflon layer sandwitched in a jacket is a scam and extremely harmful to our health is no more level headed than saying dipping sushi in onions sauce will make you effeminate.

I have some stuff like Zoyi multimeters or a Zeeweii oscilloscope, they're okayge, but like some anons said, I wouldn't really want to use them on any high voltage/mains stuff. For just low voltage side of electronics they're perfect.

But yeah, not necessarily for an electician workin on mains voltages.

Uni-T stuff may be safe enough to use though, they've been on the "western" markets long enough to have learnt not to fuck around.

the light is pretty damn good. all metal, battery is pretty heavy, type-c charging, controls are fine for me (hold short time for on off, long for strobe mode which will fucking blind you, click for mode switching with memory, doubleclick for lock mode)
lens is good, nice focused in the middle but also has a nice flood light all around with some gradient towards the edges, no need for zoom memes. hard to illustrate the beam properly on photos.
modes go low, med, high, turbo which is real bright and heats up like a motherfucker pretty fast. but it actually lights my room the fuck up.
what else... double-sided clip is really nice, magnet in the butt. also one click on the button when off turns on the button led which gives you charge level in color, which is nice. spare oring seal in the box.

definitely my most expensive flashlight I ever got, 12euro.

PTFE is one of the compounds that are collectively known as PFAS, so PTFE is a PFAS compound but PFAS is not just PTFE. I think it is important to call it out by its collective name, since companies will just use a slightly different variation and call it something different to rebrand. It'll still probably be bad for you, but consumers will only see "oh they no longer use X, so it's safe now". You are correct, it would be more accurate to call it PTFE, I however choose to call it a PFAS.

Also, your main point seems to be that a layer of this stuff sandwiched in your coat shouldn't be much of a problem. However I am completely opposed to the stuff altogether because it never goes away. If it happens to not leech away, the coat will one day wear out and go to a dump, what happens then? Also how much PFAS are leaked into the environment during production?
It is the same as microplastics or some synthetic musks. They'll stay in the environment for a very long time, they build up in your tissues, and we know that they are toxic. Sure the tiny bit that could potentially shed off your coat won't kill you, but when almost every product contains it and it leaks into the environment throughout the entire lifecycle of the product from production to landfill, are you still so certain it won't impact our collective health negatively?
I see it about the same as I see tobacco, it earns the companies that produce it a lot of money and even though they know it's dangerous they'll do anything to keep raking in the money. If you aren't tough on these companies because "a little won't kill you", we'll be stuck with a completely fucked environment in a few generations.

NTA but the onus of our earth's pollution does not rest on customers of products. The responsibility by sheer numbers lies with companies who take shortcuts with manufacturing, waste disposal, and the processes / enforcement of waste processing by municipalities worldwide. One guy's Gore-Tex jacket doesn't mean shit. Companies around the world wantonly dump kilotons of waste and harmful chemicals as we speak.
>>
>>103113958
I don't entirely agree with you, but I understand your point. I believe that if you have a choice (e.g. you can pay for a better product) and you understand the issues of a product, that you bear some of the responsibility. Obviously the companies that produce it and whatever authorities there are where they produce it bear a much heavier responsibility. That said, corruption happens and if we don't do our part the companies and local governments may just choose to continue ignoring the issue. I live in a country where the government was once paid off by a company producing PFAS, to allow their factory to dump some of it into our rivers. This issue still hasn't been resolved, but people are working hard to finally fix this. If we do nothing then nothing will happen.

Mexico doesn't have the means to produce most of the stuff we buy on aliexpress, our freedomland friends will just see the disappearance of cheap chink shit with nothing to replace it, meaning they'll either not spend that money, or, most likely, spend roughly the same amount to buy less, with a sharp decrease in chink goods revenue and a slight increase in US tax revenue.
The people who will benefit from this are the US companies that lobbied for the effective ban of the sale of (Chinese made) products cheaper than theirs.

let say for an example, if the original coins discount is 1%, and on the discount finder page says """extra"" 50%, it doesnt mean 50% of the listing price, its 50% of the original 1% coins discount. so you get %1.5 total (1+(0.5*1).

6x units of Ryzen Mini pc for less than $300??? yeah no shit i know the adage "if its too good to be true blablala". but what if it is just an unintentional listing mistake on their part? and by right, they sould comply with what is listed.

should i do it bros? i mean, how bad can it get, right? if they do send and not cancel the order, on delivery day, i can just do a full documentation of the unboxing. best case scenario would be actually getting 6 of them (lmoa yeah right), a more realistic case would be just getting 1 unit (and i'll demand for refund at 5/6 of the paid sum).

It's made from nylon, so it's not a PFAS but instead is made from petrochemicals. While it's not perfect, I'd still prefer it over PFAS since there's fewer health risks associated with nylon. There's still pollution during production and nylon clothes will take hundreds of years to degrade in a landfill, but you can't have everything. It's a step in the right direction, change won't come overnight so it's best to focus on the worst first.
I'm no chemist or scientist though, this opinion was formed by reading random free articles on the internet and watching youtube videos, so probably take what I say with a grain of salt. That probably goes without saying for any post on here.

my enchen boost clipper head sounded a bit strange when i went to use it earlier and upon taking it off the body of the clipper, i found that the ceramic blade and the frame was sort of loose
i put it back on hoping that it would last one more shave but as i thought it, it broke upon the next runover on my head

i've heard horror stories of shavers having catastrophic failures where it breaks and takes tufts of hair or pieces of skin with it, but this thing sort of shattered safely and softly into many smaller pieces
nu-age chinkshit is always impressive to me because of how they're designed. it feels like they use a minimal amount of components and when they do break it doesn't feel like you lost too much

i bought it for $11 maybe 6.5 years ago and the blade never had problems with blunting and the battery was always good

The game rules and calenders are set through the 11/11 sale. I haven't been around long enough to know how unusual it would be if they suddenly pivot to something completely different.
I am playing the games but so far the rate will be a few dollars credit at mostly from Prize Land (the watering game). Maybe the hardcore grinders have a way to get much more. I don't know.
It looks to me like signs are pointing to shitty savings this year.

The wheel game (Play & Earn?) is supposed to be a year round thing. The diamond points expire in 12 months. It doesn't look like the main attraction of 11/11.

I don't have the shake game. It's geoblocked. So I don't know what's going on there.

bought as a birthday gift for someone else, it's alright i guess

>11.6 in Portable Monitor
Put this on my crash cart. Standing bracket is cheap as fuck but I expected that. Screen looks okay, if a little washed out. I wouldn't use this on my home PC, this is definitely a special use case item, but having a portable monitor for my lab is worth $35 instead of having to drag my bulky ass other monitors around. Brought it to work a couple of times for some of the guys in the NOC to use. I'd recommend it, but if you wanna spend a lot of money I'd get the networking tool in the general.

>industrial tweezers
Bought these to round of a tool bag of a dozen different picks I got for a couple bucks. They're nice, feel heavy and precise. Can't go wrong ig.

>nail kit
Keep it in the backpack to keep me from biting my nails. Work well overall, I don't know what everything in this thing even does but the ones I do use are okay. See the same kit (or close to) at walmart for more than double so ymmv.

wew lads, that was quick, >>103065078 is already here, or at least part of it since chang decided to split the order into two packages (only received the camera and the little ratchet thing)
the little ratchet is surprisingly solid, the detent thing has no slack in it and i can go full gorilla mode on it without it flexing.
as for the wifi camera, chang really want s me to install their malware. it only advertises a bluetooth connection "LLM_FTxx_xxxxx" that requires you to install "ftycam" to be able to pair with it and then configure the camera. there is no wifi in the default/factory mode and resetting the setting with the button only make the camera throw a moon runes audio curse at you for a few seconds.
i didnt open it yet, but supposedly these are very similar those "a9 spy camera" but motorized, with more illumination and hopefully a better image sensor.
it will live inside of drawer, making company to some esp32, until i have some time to wither reverse engineer the app (ill probably fail, just like with the kitty printer) or find another way to configure it and make it advertise a wifi connection

NTA. I'm looking for something sub $40, which the 8bitdo New Ultimate 2.4G is during the sale with a coupon. That one comes with a dock, hall effect sticks, and programmable back buttons. I also don't need bluetooth, my PC doesn't support it and there's nothing else I'm going to use it with. I did see one store sell the Vader without a dock, on sale with a coupon that would be just over $40, but I'm not sure how trustworthy game hub store is so I'm not so sure that would be a good pick. Would I really be better off with a gamesir T4 (cyclone) Pro? Are there any other options that are worth considering in this price range?

>>
>>103124825
I'll consider getting it, it does come with a dock which is nice. I'm not a retard who abuses his controllers and needs the Vader 4 Pro's extremely drift resistant sticks, though being able to change the resistance the sticks give is a nice feature I don't think it's worth paying almost double the price of the 8bitdo to get it with the dock from the official store. From a quick look online it seems like the T4 Cyclone Pro is more of a preference thing when comparing it to the 8bitdo and I'm not that picky.

minor update on this, decided to open it up a bit (only the top part, not the bottom/psu part) and pic related is what is on the inside (stolen from some reddit faggot). the audio amplifier for the speaker is an 8002d and the motors driver is an uln2803l and everything else is handled by the mcu itself, a bk7252uqn48. there seems to be a rx/tc/gnd serial debug port on the chip, didnt try to see if it even prints anything, i doubt it accepts any sort of commands.
another thing, this is literally the same internals as an hb66 (and similar) cameras that go for ~$18. yes those have antennas, but those antennas are placebos, the antenna on them is still only the traces on the pcb, nothing more, lmao. check the reviews on this one
https://www.banggood.com/A13-1080P-2MP-WiFi-IP-Camera-PTZ-Wireless-CCTV-Security-Camera-Motion-Detection-Night-Vision-Two-way-Audio-Surveillance-Cameras-reviews-p1978079.html
while the pcb is green and component placement is not exactly the same, the parts and functionality are the same.
also did some digging into the app itself, its some kotlin piece of shit, it includes ads for _everything_, quite literally, ads from chink marketeers, faceberg, and a bunch more, eww. it also seems like it requires an alibaba login account before you can even pass from the first activity screen onto the next. and there is som much repeated code and "generic factory" shit that i still havent found the code responsible for the bluetooth connection setup (is also seems to be ble like the kitty printer). fucking chang wants to mine every little piece of info he cans, no wonder this is cheap as shit (the two 5v stepper motors alone cost as much as the camera itself).
into the drawer it goes until i can find some time to fuck with it

If we ever arrive at that point alternative chans will make a comeback, doesn't matter how shady they've been in the past. All they need is serious moderation, good anti-spam filters, and a bit of transparency to build trust.

Sure, but sometimes you have to balance between time you can spend on something and money you could spend on it instead. It's mostly a hobby thing for me, but my time's still quite limited.

1/2" are pretty hefty compared to that 1/4" on the image. Your best go would be shop vac or household vac. Turn the power down if you can, but sucking will always take lot of energy and will not be enough. You can use small aquarium pump for vacuum, but that's nothing for dust extraction, it's only good for holding stuff. Alternative could be to use inline duck fan and extract the dust outside of your window without catching it in bag.

I actually saw in the google translated instructions that the gap is intentional, it stops the head hitting the body which could be annoying I guess. I've just been taking the head off and cleaning and drying everything after every use so hopefully I don't get grime/mold.

Complete newfag here, I want to buy a CPU (5700X3D) off Aliexpress (never used the site before) and I heard there'll be a big sale tomorrow, anything I should know beyond using the coupon code they give me? Can you stack coupons? Is it better to pay the full price including VAT or do I just pay the taxes myself at customs? How likely am I to get scammed?

Plates as in armour plates you insert in vests and stuff? That sounds like a bad idea to me, even if they claim they're made in italy. Remember you can't complain if you're dead.

Those optane drives are probably legit, they came out as a cheapish alternative to ssds, but then ssds dropped in price so they were basically useless. The 16gb were especially useless iirc so it wouldn't surprise me if chang was selling old drives for cheap.
I have an orico enclosure that is decent, but I'm sure all the usual suspects (ugreen, baseus, etc) enclosures will be fine. Just make sure you get the right one as there's a few different types of M.2 drives that aren't compatible with each other.

Use the best coupons you can find
Coupons of the same type don't stack, but you can use a seller coupon and a aliexpress coupon at the same time
Vat depends on your cunt, aliexpress sometimes will automatically take it
It's the chinks, there's always a chance they will try and scam you, shop smart

they are legit, and they are the perfect mini cache drive. the problem is that they are way too small to be useful out of some hobbist niche
just look how the 32 gb are waaay more expensive than the 16 gb
still i am going to get one or two, why not

Ehh I can see chinks ramping up prices just before the sale... That doesn't work anymore, does it?

If you're outside US then what you see is USD currency going up after the elections rather than chinks ramping up prices.

holy shit that's a good point
i set it as usd so the fluctuations are surprising because they change every day
