1440 27 inch or 4k 32 inch? Currently using a 32 inch 1440p but want to upgrade to an OLED and considering if I should just go 4k 32 inch instead of downsizing. It is a little too big for me right now but I can probably deal with it and it's more future proof.

since 4K is 4x1080p is the scaling for 1080p good enough for the image to be sharp for gaming?

all upscalers assume you're using 1440p or higher.

Wonder if FSR 4 "AI" version will be supported on RDNA 3? I'm fairly sure that it has the necessary AI cores and I feel like they'd definitely want it on the current generation of handhelds with AMD APUs.
I'm actually basically satisfied with my 7800 XT, 16GB VRAM equals practically no VRAM relate stutter like I had on my 3070 Ti and there are no games for which I'd want to upgrade to Blackwell or whatever.

can't play modern games very well anymore :(

what do you guys think??? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated is AM5/ DDR5 worth is?
Or should i hopback to AM4 knowing i won't have an upgrade path but it will be cheaper

I watch a lot of stuff on my monitor and I'm honestly tired of IPS glow. What is a good monitor to get for movies and TV? I guess it needs HDR too for newer stuff. That would go against AMD's vision for FSR so far. I've read speculation specifically that RDNA 3 has the hardware to support FSR 4 but not gain quite as much FPS. It's not going to require an NPU. RDNA 4 will just have more updated "AI" cores that RDNA 3 already has. We'll see, I suppose.

Most games don't need ALL their ram all the time.
Like imagine you have a huge map full of rooms of enemies, one seamless map so the game does not need to pause and load data
But that's what they want you to think, actual map is split in smaller chunks, that's what doors and twisting corridors are really for
With big enough cache the entire chunk with its few enemies and objects and whatnot can fit into it at once, so the cpu does not need to read and write ram all the time, only when you move between rooms

Hello anons, i recently upgraded my system except for my gpu which is now 2 years old. Since upgrading i'm having issues with playing at 1440p with 144fps. My gpu fans would speed all the way up and my monitors go blank and then i have to turn off my computer via the power button.

The problem occurred most of the times while playing WoW and Red Dead Redemption 1 on fully maxed out graphics settings and about 100+fps in WoW and 144fps in RDR1 with 1440p resolution. My temps in rdr average about 70 degrees. When capping the fps at 60 i don't seem to get these issues. I never had these problems with my old system config but I also didn’t achieve 100fps+ at maxed out settings.

I already tried deinstalling gpu drivers through DDU and reinstalled them, checked the cables and don't overclock (to my knowledge at least)

My new system including old gpu:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Noctua NH-D15
MSI MAG B650M MORTAR
Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-6000
Samsung 980 Pro
MSI GeForce RTX 3080 VENTUS 3X Plus OC
be quiet! Pure Power 12M 850W 80+ Gold

My old system:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite
G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600 16 GB
Crucial P1 NVMe M2

I have seen a lot of people have issues with be quiet PSUs as of late. Anecdotal of course but also just a friend fix all his issues with a new PSU. If you have the cash and time go get another PSU to test with, return if it doesn't help, otherwise feels like that 3080 may need some RMA work.

I used two when I had an RX 480 for gaming and an entry level HD 5450(?). Problem was: when I hooked two or more monitors on the RX 480 the memory clock maxed out constantly and it generated heat, so the zero fan feature became a nightmare, as the fan was ramping up and stopped like every 30 seconds. I swear it was even better to leave it on 35% constantly than hearing it speed up and stop every minute.

You are just in time for 11.11 discounts and coupons on 5700X3D - should be good enough for a couple more years and you won't need a new motherboard or ram.

buy a 2tb SN770 NVMe
update your motherboard's BIOS for it to be sure there's no compatibility issues with 5xxx CPUs
get a 5700x3d
GPU is the annoying thing as nvidia is charging too much and there's a new gen coming, and AMD isn't really recommended for VR (although I haven't had any issues with a 6800xt but I used a lenovo explorer for only 15 minutes and never touched it again) and workstations

I'm using a cheap Samsung VA 4k 32" for that. Samsung has some VA panels that are much better than the common ones. If you want better than that, you'll have to pay up for OLED, which is in a league of its own.

>>103143625
Remove that extra 120mm in the center. Just stick with the 140's on the outer edges, simply giving intake on one side and exhaust on the other side.

>5700X3D
NTA, but wouldn't the 5950X be vastly better for 3D work? Yes VR loves the X3D chips, but if 3D work is the prime concern, and given how blender loves multithreaded performance, I think the 5950X would be better even if more expensive if he must stay on the same mobo.
>>
>>103145089
3600 and 1660ti definitely won't cut it for VR. 5700X3D is the minimum you should consider, and the X3D part is mandatory for VR. For the productivity work, 5950X3D is an option, but if you're willing to spend money, an AM5 build wins in productivity, and 9950X3D is coming. If you're too poor to afford the big core count CPUs, just get 5700X3D.

That SSD will get full and is kind of slow. 2TB nvme is cheap these days. The GPU is going to be the pain point. I use a 6950XT in VR and it's good, but to run AMD in VR you need to be able to troubleshoot. If you don't know what you're doing and want it to just werk, use nvidia for VR since some indie devs are just one guy who doesn't even own an AMD GPU to test on. Don't bother with 8GB cards. 12GB is the new poorfag tier, 16GB+ is preferred, and we'll find out what the new generation is like soon. It'll probably be overpriced. There's people buying used 3090's for VR, which are also great for productivity, but you have to be very careful since used 3000 series cards can have burned out VRAM if the previous owner was a faggot.

That's a nice bundle, you americanons have it good.

I'm thinking about getting a 9800X3D sometime next year and upgrading my 10yo PC as well, but it's most likely overkill for my usage. 7600-tier performance would be enough, but I would want to have at least 8 cores in 2025. X3D also improves speeds and 1% lows by a lot and that would also be nice to have.

I'm looking for a replacement 240mm AIO to fit my Lian-Li Dan A4-H2O. The computer will be used for games primarily. I'm looking at the 9800X3D, so it must support AM5. Location is Sweden/Europe, budget is $250.

The A4-H2O is an ITX case and only has a pump clearance of 55 mm, and a radiator+fan clearance similarly of 55 mm. This disqualifies the Arctic Liquid Freezer (68.5 mm?) but not the Thermalright Frozen Edge (53 mm) listed in the OP.

It currently has an EK Basic 240, but I intend to take all the current innards and put them in a different case, so I can't reuse it in this one.

The case doesn't have a window, so something with an LCD screen would be completely wasted on it. RGB is also fully optional, as I would turn it off/not connect it. If I can be picky I'd prefer the colour black, so the radiator or pump doesn't visually stand out as white between the holes of the perforated top/side plates.

The Lian-Li Galahad II is too big. The NZXT Kraken has that LCD screen. The pump of the Corsair H100i seems to be 56 mm? I see conflicting figures when I search for it. The be quiet Pure Loop II fits though and is available locally.

Any tips?

3090's capable of 4k. I use 3 monitors, 4k+1440p+1080p, on a card slightly slower than 3090. I wouldn't try 4k on a 1080, but 3090 completely destroys 1080. 1440p monitors still have better selection and prices, don't need to use upscaling for desktop applications, and you can run them at high fps with a 3090. You should probably look at sample monitors in a physical store to see whether you like 1440p or 4k before committing.

Did you try just asking customer service to replace it anyway? You can probably get an invoice from the seller's website or credit card bill too.

Assuming I can somehow get my hands on a 9800x3D, will air cooling be enough if I don't OC it? So far everything I've seen says AIOs need replacing every 3-5y, assuming they don't wash all the magic smoke out of your system when they die. I'm trying to build a new rig that will last another 10 years to replace my ailing i7-5820K/GTX980, so aiming to get components that won't need periodic replacement.

Thank you anon, appreciate it! The existing cooler itself probably won't work due to only having an LGA2011 mount, but the PWM fans might still be re-usable if the dust isn't too bad, so I'll hold on to those. Can use them as case fans if nothing else.

>>103147728
Good to know, thank you. I read the "recommendation" for coolers on AMD's website, but AIO seemed like overkill if I'm not going nuts with OCing. Haven't built a gaming rig in 10 years so wanted to ask advice before spending money I didn't need to.
