B650/x670 are enough for am5 right? Or is the e version necessary? B650e and x870 have no noticeable differences right?

They theoretically shouldn't melt unless the case reaches 100C, which is unlikely if you have a decent fan curve. Then again, I wouldn't do it. It's a meme, if anything.

I mean I'm waiting to see if G.Skill releases the 64gb version of those 28cl sticks, which was announced at the same time as the 32gb kit you posted. Apparently Kingston is the best DDR5 brand right now, as far as cooling goes, but their AMD selection is sparse and I don't think they have an EXPO ready 6000mhz 30cl 64gb kit. I might go with Corsair if they have better heat mitigation, but I haven't looked into them yet. Also pretty sure you want to make sure whatever kit you do end up getting is using a Hynix-M/A die, as those are supposedly the best for DDR5 right now.

I just need to connect like 8 things but I HATE SATA cables.
I think SAS is fucking sexy and want it inside of me.

Are there any affordable HBAs that can be bought new that just do basic JBOD/access each drive seprately things that aren't weird 20 year old cards resold by literalwho on ebay and aliexpress?

Having ONE cable come out the PCI-E card and then break out and split into multiple SATA to plug drives in is exactly what I've always wanted but have been too poor/dumb to figure out what and when to buy such a thing.
It seems evident that SAS won't be coming to motherboards.. I had originally thought that might be a thing but nope never seen it at least not for consumer stuff not even the hightier gaymur stuff it just has been missing in action for far too long so now I wanna get a card to carry with me from pc to pc and stop worrying about whether a board has enough SATA or not.

>>
>>103157284
well the case, psu, ram, cpu cooler are pretty fine and dont immediately lose their value
the issue in that build are the nvme's, people generally dont want to buy used ssds, then the cpu is weak and will bottleneck the system so people might not want it at all over just buying new. Pairing it with 3080 ti isn't ideal.

the gpu is obviously good and is maybe 350-400€ on its own

So with Hitler-with-a-spray-tan threatening 10% tariffs on all imports, and 60-100% tariffs on all imports from China specifically, I finally have the motivation to upgrade after eight(!) years.

Current specs:
CPU: Intel i7-6700k 4GHz
RAM: 2x8 GB Ripjaws (don't remember exact model)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
PSU: EVGA Supernova NEX650G
Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A

Keeping:
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper (don't remember exact model)
Case: Corsair Carbide 500R ATX Mid

Planned new parts:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
RAM: 2x16 GB DDR5-6000 CL30 (Teamgroup T-Create Expert)
GPU: RX 7900 GRE 16GB (PowerColor Fighter)
PSU: Super Flower Leadex Titanium 850w (80+ Titanium)
Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk

I do kinda want to stay in the $400-$600 range for each of CPU and GPU, and/or around $1500 overall.
Gonna keep an eye on prices for the rest of the month, especially around/on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

That's probably an older model, but it's not a bad option considering the price.
The newer models have to meet generally stricter ATX 3.x standards, like higher transient load tolerance (+200%) for the video card and better efficiency at low power loads.
But a Titanium unit should be overbuilt enough to not worry about transient spike tolerance.
I thought you picked a $300 80+ Titanium unit.

oh
well you might want 9950x3d, its gonne be the hot shit cpu and a big watercooler makes more sense for that instead of a 120w 8 core cpu which only requires modest air cooler
more than 32gb ram is not needed in gaming and you prob can eek out performance with getting faster sticks instead of just more of it
psu too is oversized, even with a 5090 you will stay under 1k w by far
mobo seems silly, you're not ocing or doing heavy 4k media work so
case seems bad and focused on water cooling, Id just get a basic air cooling focused case like fractal north or something

Memory speed is too fast for the IMC & fabric to work ootb, especially for dual-rank modules.
Stick to 6000MT/s for most likely compatibility, 6400MT/s might need manual tuning.
Good luck finding a reasonably priced Seasonic Prime TX-1300.

>>
>>103158199
You make a good point with the CPU. That said, I genuinely want to avoid air cooling as much as possible, and by that I mean stuffing a ton of loud as fuck fans into this thing. Phanteks has treated me well in the past (I own a discontinued case that they sold that I am only upgrading from because I know for a fact that the 5090 will absolutely not fit in this fucking thing) in terms of sound. Even under load my current case is quiet as a mother fucker. I am also considering this case because I will probably switch over to a watercooled build once a 5090 block becomes available and I can be assed to do it. It'll be a fun project. Like the other anon mentioned, I will probably change up which PSU I am using, but here is my concern. With what you are suggesting for a CPU it pushes the build to almost 400w without the GPU, I throw in a GPU that could potentially use 600w and suddenly we're at 1000w. I want a buffer, meaning 1200 or 1300w. I'll pick something cheaper, but I am sticking to this because of the future water cooling and potential other power draws that could come into play at some point. As for the motherboard, I hear what you are saying, and I don't necessarily disagree - I am open to other, cheaper options (I don't care about QoL shit so much) so long as they can support the drives and the GPU.

>>103158226

Nvidia aren't making that mistake twice. The 3080 was meant to be that mistake and it was screwed over by a pandemic and weird transient spikes.

3080 @ $700 MSRP, 3080TI was $1200 MSRP

The only "mistakes" they make now are bad ones where they overprice everything. Then we wait for a year and the new 60 class card that got downgraded and shit on is once again the bestselling card in the world.

>Can I trust this recommendation for 2x16GB 6000CL30 blindly?
more or less, just make sure you're buying Hynix 6000CL30 and you'll be fine, single/dual rank doesn't really matter for DDR5.
there are "easy" timings you can copy on any RAM with Hynix memory chips that will get you 99% of the performance of a fully tuned OC, works with both A-die and M-die but the former is generally better if you want to autismmaxx your PC.

Zen 4/5 CPUs don't seem to scale too much with memory frequency compared to Zen 3, but they're pretty sensitive to tighter timings (see pic rel).

>>103159699
you shouldn't pay that much for a 1080p monitor in 2024, backlight strobing is a neat feature but it's really only useful in competitive games and highly restrictive otherwise.
unless you solely play competitive games named Valorant/CS/OW, just get the Koorui and save that money towards something better.

>How's it "that much"
it's 1080p anon, only ultra competitive gamers or pros still pay premium for strobing and 540hz at that res.
even certain pros are swapping to 1440p 480hz OLEDs because it doesn't have to rely on strobing for motion clarity and just looks better.
>every decent 1440p monitor with comparable speeds costs double
Koorui has a 1440p 240hz that's about the same price as that Viewsonic, no strobing though but better at everything else.
>so it can be used for any game
it can but why would you? it disables VRR, generally kills color accuracy and dials down brightness a lot. you'll also run into crosstalk and eyesore stutters if your FPS isn't stable enough.

6000CL30 is the balanced option as far as far as compatibility, availability, speed and price goes. DDR5 indeed does not matter that much, hence why you're better off spending any extra money on GPU and CPU.
>>
>>103159926
Is 96 usd really a premium for the feature?
>oled doesn't have to rely on strobing
what are you even talking about? it does beause oled also relies on sample and hold but it usually cannot implement bfi due to the massive cut in brightness

I just told you that there's nothing better in my country, those are my prices, everything is already 21% more expensive than in US due toe VAT+ fees.

>generally kills color accuracy
It doesn't, brightness doesn't distort color accuracy on sRGB and the strobing has a static brightness.. I already own a calibrator so I can just 100% accuracy at 200 nits + strobing if I want to.

It has the least amount of cross talk even against monitors for e-sports that cost thousands of dollars. You really cannot go lower than that on the crosstalk and it's hardly noticeable in game motion even in worse implementations.

>you'll also run into crosstalk and eyesore stutters if your FPS isn't stable enough.
this can be valid but If my 1% and maybe 5% lows are in the 90fps all the time I just lower my static strobing from say 120 to 90 and I've fixed all the problems.
It's 1080p, it's much easier to drive it. I'm also pairing a 7800x3d and a 4070.

Anyone here have any experience with Keychron products? I know very little about keyboard brands, so when looking at a replacement board I came across this brand with decent-ish reviews.

They seem like a middle ground board which is sorta up my alley, but are these actually any good?
>>
>>103159977
>Is 96 usd really a premium for the feature?
it is a premium, it's only up to you if you care enough to pay for it. you didn't really put out any more info regarding your usecase or country
>oled also relies on sample and hold
it's sample-and-hold but the pixel transition being near instantaneous and the lack of a backlight essentially compensates for it.
compared to an LCD at the same refresh rate the motion blur is far lower, and at higher refresh rates BFI isn't that noticable.
at lower refresh rates (120-240hz) BFI would be necessary to match the motion clarity of 1ms strobing though, I agree.
>1080p, 7800x3d and a 4070
a shame but you do you

you seem to have covered most of the downsides from strobing and just generally don't seem to care about anything but motion clarity so I'll rest my case, just go for the Viewsonic so that your autism (non-derogatory) doesn't go to waste

I honestly don't believe it can compensate, it might be actually worse since, as you've pointed out, there's no backlight so it has to perform a true black frame insertion which will make the motion be choppy, this goes beyond brightness reduction as a reason why it's not implemented there for sure. Keep in mind backlight strobing is actually magical, it reduces a % of the brightness inside each real frame, bfi has to add a black frame, quite literally in the refresh rate window.
And besides, already with strobing disabled, the viewsonic 1080p display is not that far from an oled display, we're speaking about 3ms g2g after all, perceptually I meant for a human, screen by screen - but for that matter neither the koorui one since it has similar g2g transitions.

Well thank you for your time helping me figure things out. Strobing requires baby-sitting but it can be magical.

$300 on an AIO is absurd, 1300W PSU for $300 is needless. Other anons are right about the RAM, another $100 overkill. Rather sure you can shave an easy $500 off by being 5% more reasonable with your options. Have anything against the $90 arctic liquid freezer III 360? Or the $140 1000W ATX 3.0 MSI MPG PSU? Functional equivalents for hundreds less that are still quite premium. also the mobo Christ. I spent $500 in 2022 for the X670E Taichi to get all the features. There are no new platform features this gen yet you are buying a $700 board...why? The Asrock X870E nova has all the high end features for literally half the price at $350 and even some more than mine. Want a relatively high end board that will have everything you need for even cheaper? Pro RS WiFi, dual usb 4 on a $210 board. That's interesting at least. I just don't see a point in blowing more than $350 on an AMD board this gen unless you really like burning money or have a really really specific use case. Not to lambaste you anon, it's gonna be a choice build either way.
>>
>>103161387
The AG400 is twice the price of the AG200, and the AG620 is more than twice that again. I'll likely stick with the baseline 7600, so the AG400 seems sensible I guess. The AG620 is rated at 260W, but I can't find any specs for power dissipation for the other two. How do people size their coolers, do they just look at the flow rate without taking into account the actual conductivity of the heat-sink? What the fuck?
