With all these new products and sales, people will be inclined to buy these parts and build their pc, therefore sell their old stuff. Since the market will be overflowing with old shit, the price is bound to go down, right?

It doesn't matter because of regulatory agency capture anyway. For an example - the same jews that want to deregulate so they can dump sewage into rivers have already been dumping sewage into rivers because Uncle Shlomo works for the EPA and is giving them a pass or a small fine that just gets added to the cost of doing business.

Regulation, in and of itself, was the safeguard to keep jews from cheating us but the agencies weren't appropriately gatekept so now it's just another racket. This isn't an endorsement of deregulation, it's simply a statement that the regulatory agencies focused on the wrong problem and it's unfixable until they do.

This outcome may depend on whether warranty is covered by the retailer or manufacturer. I did inquire about turning it in and paying extra for a different model, but the rep stated this was not possible under service.

I will ask him and see if I can get a full refund or not through either party, I've known the guy for a bit so we'll see if he can come up with something again. Because as far as i'm concerned, the replacement is a sidegrade and not an upgrade. I bought the monitor because it was 23.8" and IPS, I am not trading that off for 27" curves (as nice as it is) for the same resolution and a VA panel (I want colors and image quality done right), something I do not have interest in.

I'll see if I can do something tonight or not.

Some shops are offering Black Friday or holiday price protection until next year.
If you find a deal in these stores, grab it now before the parts go oos.
There's always a handful of idiots here trying to time the best deal and end up having to pay more in the end.

Some sellers will try to get more money out of the sale to damped whatever tariffs are applied next year.
Economists already figured this out years ago. Tariffs cause more inflation.

I read through the OP and like the Lian Li A3 the most since it gives me a compact PC without compromising on airflow + overpaying for ITX/SFX crap since I could use the saved $$ for a better CPU

Can a motherboard kill memory over time (besides manually overvolting it)? I've burned through 3 kits, each only lasted around two months, running at their respective XMP profiles. They never failed memtest either, one of the two in the kit would just suddenly and completely die. They could all have been slight manufacturing defects but I find that ridiculously unlikely, they were different brands and bought from different stores.

Am I a big brain or tiny grug brain Ork mechanic

I got myself a 16 core 5950x
I bought a AIO water cooler
I'm going to overclock the 16 core too
This is for workstation purposes, for using Blender while having various browser tabs open for tutorials and whatever else going on

My PC case will just about fit the cooler, but I will be cramping my case - I would also have to remove the back exhaust fan and rely on the 2 AIO fans as exhaust for the whole case, this will not be optimal airflow for the front 3 case fans or the cooler

It seems like pic related is the easiest and cheapest option
For a DIY mod it will be reasonably neat, and it will be fun to do
Not 100% sure what to use as a custom frame mount just yet - I want it to clamp or grip the holes in the top of my case, not to just sit there by gravity only

I need a PSU with a ton of power for my next build, and the Seasonic PRIME TX seems to be the right one (I don't want to have to deal with shit cables that I'm just going to have to replace from CableMod), but there are a lot of people claiming that their PRIME TX died after like a month of use, or was DoA and Seasonic's customer service made the RMA process a fucking nightmare, so I am skeptical. I was looking at Super Flower's high end offerings, but Newegg has plenty of pictures posted by people who bought their's that ended up frying the cables and their rigs.

Are there any other options I might have looked over? I am half-tempted to wait until the Noctua brand PRIME TX comes out, but that doesn't have a date aside from "late 2024" and we're at the end of 2024, so I figure it's getting bumped to next year and will be a pain in the ass to get due to the cult of Noctua all grabbing one.

in my experience there's no performance difference between the two, though on some loops a top mount can prevent additional noise stemming from air bubble shenanigans
but if you have something of good build quality that ships properly topped off with liquid like an Arctic LF3, or if you're doing a decent enough custom loop, it will absolutely never make a difference
the only thing you should never do is make the pump the highest point of the loop because that may accumulate air in it and force it to work harder, shortening its lifespan

it shouldn't give you any trouble in a front mount and the fans are quite easy to detach, reattach, and wire. better than 90% of AIOs out there for sure. I've front mounted an LF3 420mm in my case and it works like a charm.

The converse becomes true when you run Gear 2 etc. and try to push max memory clocks to counteract the latency penalty from decoupling. The vast majority of users are in the first group where the IMC is the relevant limit.

Is there any reason not to go for the RTX3050 for a workstation? Presumably 8GB is the way to go with it. People are saying the 4060 is bad value, and I can't really justify getting a 4060Ti considering I barely ever play video games, and never play games that aren't at least 10 years old. I only want an RTX series card because apparently their drivers are getting open sourced for linux.

>Games can't use more than 8 cores, having a 16+ core CPU actually gimps your gaming performance.
Not entirely true
Games are beginning to push this - Cyberpunk will cause some peoples PCs to use 12 cores if they push performance, and it's a 4 year old game
16 cores is now not a crazy dream number
Strategy games can test big CPUs
You don't need more than 8 cores right now, you don't NEED it - Every game isn't trying to crack the sky open like Cyberpunk and reach for the total peak of visuals and complexity

There is a very slight negative to doing comfortable mid tier gaming with an over built PC
If you have 64gb of RAM, it's like 1-2% slower than 32gb of RAM
16 cores has the same performance as 8 with a lot of games, you're better off with a high speed new generation 8 core if you want pure peak performance
Even a high speed 6 core is going to be excellent in the majority of cases
But the downside to tons of cores is actually tiny
And there is an upside too
Cores do help when you want to game and have internet tabs open, or something else in the background, and you have 2 screens
Cores mean you don't have to close things in order to fine tune gaming performance
Cores do actually help with loading up programs, and loading screens in games - This is a real world practical concern that is left out of Youtube benchmark tests on empty fresh install PCs

The final score is that having a crazy CPU is definitely good
Is it worth it for the money? That's changes everything, depending on the person and how much money you have
If your only going to play chess then forget it
No one needs to ever play a video game, it's all a modern luxury and it's all about comfort and what you want
A banana crazy PC is a great thing to have
>>
>>103166628
From what you've done you've basically narrowed it down to the CPU or mobo. Weird that anons would suspect the CPU first because they're usually a lot more reliable than mobos. Unless it was an unlocked 13/14th gen Intel in which case I understand.
In any case, with the new CPU also failing that leaves the mobo as the most likely culprit. IMO for either one of those taking it to a shop is the right idea because spending $100+ on a hunch is a fool's errand.

It has less hardware than a 3060 but it's the new optimised software and hardware tech, making it more powerful with less
The end result is the 4060 is just a 3060
They've massively cut the price of 4060s for this reason and now the 4060 and 3060 cost about the same
They aren't exactly bad but it's just a puzzling sideways progression
They were very expensive on release for no justifiable reason which caused people to rage

I can save approx CAD$200 building an AM4 system with 5700X3D, prob save upwards to CAD$300 if I go aliexpress route

I live in the US and am looking to spend about 3k on a gaming PC without getting too far into exponential costs.

I've been frankensteining my current Theseus's PC for the last decade and have no idea what I'm doing. I was initially going to go RX 7900 XTX, but it has crept closer to price of the 4080 super

How far from reality am I?
>>
>>103166797
one of the most annoying problems i've encountered in my troubleshooting "career" was a faulty sata -> molex adapter. one of the molex pins was badly clamped onto the secondary wire (leading to the next molex pin) and it would rarely disconnect during hard drive usage as it vibrates. since the primary wire was attached perfectly, you could pull on it and it would stay in place giving you the illusion that the pin is clamped on properly. of course the entire system would freak out, crash or stop responding but like once every week or so
so yeah, you sometimes have problems like this

As I understand it the GPU acceleration in CAD is very light if present at all and of course a 3050 is far more than enough to drive a 4k monitor. On the other hand, it is really weak for 3D rendering so look elsewhere if you do a lot of that.

power delivery to cpu and shit, pretty much if you run real real real shit boards and they skimped on the vrms higher power draw cpus wont even run at max advertised speeds and also run hot and reduce the life span of the mobo
we largely escaped this and mobo makers started putting retard tier overkill power on mobos instead, but some shit still exists check hardware unboxed mobos on b650 or whatever it was that performed like ass, or a620s or something
so unless you purposefully go super shit this will be avoided
but double check reviews if existing

You need at least some background electronics knowledge to understand how it works in theory but all an end user really needs to know is that some boards can deliver more power to the CPU than others which is a consideration when building high-end.
FWIW, in the last 5 years or so the manufacturers have been really overbuilding the VRMs on their mid+high tier boards so you barely need to worry about it if you've got a decent budget. Just don't put an R9 into an A620 board.

I've decided that I'm just going to try and keep my current system going for a while longer. I was tempted to just put together a completely new rig, but barring a couple of things I haven't really run into much it can't run satisfactory yet. My current components are
>B450 tomahawk max
>16gb ram (2x8gb)
>R5 3600
>RX 6700 XT
>550W seasonic prime platinum
As you can see, I'm not really that up to date on hardware and I just used a cookie cutter build back then. The gpu wasn't my first choice, but I had to take what I could get from the drops back in 2021 because my old gpu died and the prices in stores were wack. But it's been totally fine so far.
I was thinking of adding some ram and upgrading the cpu and calling it a day. Couple of questions tho
- The 5700X3D is still the way to go?
- Is there any issue with the B450 tomahawk max combined with the 5700X3D, or is it good to go as is?
- Does the 5700X3D require more cooling than the R5 3600? Currently I have a ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports for cpu cooling, not sure if I can just slap that on it or if I'll need something beefier
- For RAM, can I add 2 more 8gb sticks, or should I just get a 2x 16gb kit instead? I know this questions has been asked time and again, but I tried googling it and there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut answer at first glance
I live in the benelux, if that matters much

I don't get it. Does this thing suck dick or is it actually good? Having only 1 PCI-E 5.0 slot is... okay, since I am only going to conceivably need that for a future GPU. I've always been foggy on how M.2's interact with lanes. I've been told that if you put more than two M.2's into even a very high end board with just a GPU it'll only run at x8 instead of x16.
>>
>>103167020
Alright, here's an example without cutting anything too deep:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tyFmGJ
Most of the changes here are just basic efficiencies and price shopping.
If you don't need B650E/X870 (same shit) you could save another $50+ on the board (for a gaming rig you probably don't).
I'm also a little skeptical of paying $200 over MSRP for a 4080S but I owned a Gaming X 1660Super so I understand the impulse.
>>
>>103167170
read the mobo manual and it will tell you what lanes each port uses
>>
>>103167170
Only some boards do that. Best practice is always to RTM on any board you're interested in buying. In any case, x8 lanes of PCIe5 is still like 4x the bandwidth needs of any card on the market so it's unlikely to bite you.

Oh, I just want to clarify, I am not actually going to put more than 2 M.2's into the build. I don't need that much fuckin' space on demand. 6 TB between two different drives is more than enough for me, and I can just dump the rest on externals if I need to. I am just confused as to why this thing isn't more expensive. People were hyping up the NOVA, but that only has one Gen5 slot for an M.2. and also only has one PCIe 5.0 slot with the rest being 3.0's and before they discounted it, the fuckin' thing was, what... 600 dollars? That's ASUS is gonna go be jagoffs and charge a billion dollars for some shit board, that goes without saying. It's just that this board in particular is cheaper than the rest and seems to be better in most ways according to the specs. Thus, I can only assume that it's so cheap because of under the hood shenanigans or part's quality being bad.
>>
>>103166983
yeah, it's a cheapo mobo too, but so was the 5700X3D mobo, pic related is the equivalent of US$350

just looking to see if this mobo is even decent (guess it just has to have enough VRMs for 65w-105w to not bottleneck since it's AMD anyways). I mean it's probably shit but for the price I dunno if I can complain provided it does not bottleneck

still gonna see how the cost of the 5700X3D + RAM bundle compares with a decent mobo , vs 7700 + decent mobo
