>>
>>103213789
Sadly reduce motion only affects things like switching between apps.
I can barely find anything about it when searching for the issue either. It wouldn't be so bad if it actually left all elements interactive as it bounced but instead there's something like a ~300ms delay which stops you. Which is enough to get irritating when you know exactly where you need to tap.

Why would you wanna do that when AIO is better most of the time? Otherwise you just unscrew it and it's off. You might need to change some of the brackets though, since AIO coolers and a lot of air ones use their own, and for that you'd need access to the back of the motherboard, although cases have had that for decades.

Ok so, I have a question about my PC and the HDD/SSD/NVMe and their power supply because I'm not really understanding what's happening to my computer

my pc is configured like this regarding storage devices: 1 HDD, 2 SSD, 1 NVMe. Last week the HDD had some problems, I removed it to replace it with another, and while I was at it I bought a new NVMe, so my situation was as follows:

1 HDD, 2NVMe, 2 SSD: when I turned the PC back on, however, at this point one of the two SSDs was no longer recognized, if I remove it and connect it externally the PC reads it but I don't understand why.
Could it be the power supply? I have a 750 corsair 80plus gold

Weird situation. My old AMP broke like two years ago, so I went and replaced it with a new one. The audio quality is definitely different between not having my headset plugged into it versus having it directly slotted into my motherboard. However, it is distinctly quieter than my old AMP.

At first I figured it's a case of me getting older, or something being wrong with the AMP. But then I decided to try something out and downloaded a plugin for Firefox that increases your browser's volume. Lo and behold, it works. And not just kinda works, it works fantastically. I can really crank up the volume if I want to, but of course this is only for my browser. There isn't anything I can find in Windows to increase how loud an application is capable of being besides the Volume Mixer.

Exactly how is it that this plug-in is making my headset louder? I am befuddled by this because it's not like it's redirecting more power to my headset. And why is it that I have to use a plug-in to make shit louder? Why can't I do this natively? I guess I need to go to the audiophile general and ask about a hardware solution for other applications (games, music, etc.) but I'm just perplexed at there being a simple software solution that I can't expand to every application when that's ideally what I'd like to do, nor do I understand how it's doing it.

It looks really cheap so I'm guessing it's just kinda crap and they get away with it by having "Up to" 300mbps.
Only thing to try is updating firmware and factory resetting. Sometimes that can help.

>>
>>103216410
Protocol overhead is a thing, yeah? You only have a 100Mb WAN port, so of course you're not going to see exactly 100Mb data speed.
>but where does 300m come from
2x40MHz spatial streams at 150Mb signaling rate each. That's signaling rate, in one direction at a time. Data rate will be slightly under half that at best.

Read wiisfi.com if you want a full breakdown. You have to understand protocol semantics a little bit to know what network speed you should expect.

It works for games if your PC is literally a dedicated gaming PC, but it's mostly just retards buying the biggest number.
>>
>>103217340
People don't realize 4K is only good for media and it makes normal desktop usage impossible unless you get a TV-sized monitor wall-mounted. So icons/text/improperly scaled game UI become impossible to use. So they zoom 150% to make things legible but never bother going back to 100% when watching videos or playing games that do scale UI properly to 4k.
>>
>>103217307
Thanks for explaining, even tho the box literally says "300mbps wireless speed" i'm guessing it's just a lie?
In any case, if i buy one of those 1gbps\mesh\wifi6 or whatever routers, is it guaranteed to reach my 500mb connection speed for both ethernet and wifi?

Anything relating to wireless speed is all theoretical maximums you'll never achieve. How much you get depends on so many things. For ethernet you need everything in the chain to support it. The ethernet card, the wire, the router, the modem and what your ISP actually delivers from the wall.
>>
>>103217369
People who do this are blind, and I am saying this as someone who literally cannot see without their glasses. I bought a middle-of-the-road 4K TN panel 27" monitor four years ago for $350 dollars and have never needed to increase the text size. Everything perfectly is perfectly legible
>>
>>103217485
There are no guarantees with wifi because you can't guarantee the state of the transmission medium. Mfgs just throw out the biggest number conceivably related to the tech so nobody else can undercut them with same product / bigger number.

But yeah, 2 stream AX will likely deliver 500Mb-ish with good signal. Assuming your clients are up to it. gl-inet Beryl AX or Flint 2 if you want a recommendation. All the hardware in those is supported by the mainline Linux kernel, so they'll get software updates through openwrt for probably 20 years.

Give it to me straight. Is everyone who graduated college during the pandemic with a degree in IT, Cyber Security, etc and were unable to get job experience because of a bad job market totally fucked? Is there any reason to learn Python to "service the AIs" or is this now a useless skill? What about non-coding skills like risk management, system hardening, network traffic analysis, etc?

Is "Just learn to code" really being replaced with "Just learn to weld", or is there still a reason for young people to try to get in this field?

Will Trump's mass deportations help more young people get jobs by removing cheap foreign labor or are we still fucked? Will the need for people in cyber security increase by a meaningful amount if the US goes to war with China?

The situation looks horrible no matter how I look at it, but the internet is too important for every job to just disappear, but I don't know how exactly the job market will change over the next few years with AI

I feel like "learn to code" is being replaced with "learn to be a charismatic outgoing fashion model sycophant who is also a stellar academic with lots of original research" unless you're a person of "people who REALLY matter".
We really can't count on any deportations or a reduction of visas.
If anything is going to change about the internet, I expect the cat and mouse game between spammers and anti spam is simply going to end with the spammers winning due to them being both impossible to detect and a protection racket against what they do. Every major operating system now ships with a tool to rephrase any text input and easy access to an image generation service. There's no way around what's coming that can preserve the human aspect of the internet that isn't a mess of authoritarian lockdowns where we presume everyone is a bot unless you're using a botnet laden terminal that remotely attests that you're not.

why is it that there are a lot of old devices with 3-10 inches displays(old handheld consoles, MP3 players, netbooks, very old tablets, etc), some of which with resolutions even as high as 720-1080p, all being sold for anything between 5 to 50 euro, yet there isnt a single 3-10 inches display with HDMI input selling for less than 100 euro?
I just need a cheap ass small display to put in front of my keyboard to display various stats and whatever, it shouldnt cost same price of a full 24 inches 180hz monitor with plenty of additional features, yet there is none, they're either fancy displays made with this exact purpose in mind and costing 100 euro or more, or literal components for 30 euro which also need an user provided device(raspberry pi or the likes) and a diy case etc

What I need, explicitly, is some application that can open .html files. However, I'm pretty sure that means "I need a web browser". But if that's true, I need a browser that is instanced entirely to the localhost- that is, it can open local .html files, but it can't connect to the Internet. the "300Mbps" is peak symbol rate, peak as in "perfect conditions", meaning little to no interference and very short distance, and symbol rate meaning the raw information going between devices, before any overheads are accounted for
wifi, being a wireless standard, is heavily affected by interference and distance, you can't expect perfect signal quality most of the time. also in part because of this, wifi has a lot of protocol overhead as well, to allow it to be more robust despite the potentially unfavourable conditions
basically this means that you can't expect to reach the speeds listed for wifi devices, expect more like half to a third of what it says
>>
>>103223978
for things that don't have strict signalling requirements, like power wires, all you really need to think about is thickness. just don't use thinner wire than the original and you're good

>>103232408
Nah, the perfect conditions DATA speed is around 200Mb. That's using 40MHz 2.4GHz channels, which is basically untenable around any other electronics. The practical max is 100Mb. Slightly under if you do anything but send packets in one direction exclusively.

I don't understand how PCIe lanes work. Consider these two motherboards:
https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X870E%20Nova%20WiFi/index.asp#Specification
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X870%20Steel%20Legend%20WiFi/index.asp#Specification

X870E Nova supports:
>1 PCIe 5.0 x16
>2 USB 4.0
>1 128Gb/s NVMe
>4 SATA 3
>3 64Gb/s NVMe
>1 PCIe 3.0 x1
>1 PCIe 3.0 x2 OR 1 16Gb/s NVMe

X870 Steel Legend supports:
>1 PCIe 5.0 x16
>2 USB 4.0
>1 128Gb/s NVMe
>4 SATA 3
>1 64Gb/s NVMe
>either 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 OR 1 extra 64Gb/s NVMe

They both have the same number of PCIe 5, USB 4, 128Gb NVMe and SATA 3. What I don't understand are the differences. One board has:
>2 extra 64Gb/s NVMe
>1 extra PCIe 3.0 x1
>1 extra PCIe 3.0 x2 OR 1 16Gb/s NVMe
The other board has:
>1 extra PCIe 4.0 x16 OR 1 64Gb/s NVMe

How does the hell does the Nova have 2 extra 64Gb/s NVMes (and more!) when the Steel Legend can only have 1 extra 64Gb/s NVMe?
>>
>>103233656
The anwser is throughput
>PCIe 3 x2
>PCIe 4 x16
Larger PCIe needs more throughput, so if you swap it for NVME you keep the throughput more or less
Layout, how much the consumer wants to(can) pay, and possible materials/minimum quality standards also are factors
>>
a place I'm looking at moving into (that is otherwise high on the list) apparently only has a max line speed of 67 megabit down, 13 up. my only available options around that speed are 50 down 20 up, or 100 down 20 up, and while I don't specifically need 100, it'd be a nice-to-have, as well as the prices of the 50 & 100 are only a couple dollars apart

would there be any issues with paying for 100 on a line capable of max 67, or would it just be lost/wasted bandwidth?

How do you guys organize your images? Do you use any kind of automation to make it easier?

I have several folders each filled with thousands of random images of beautiful 2D and 3D women. I used to have fun manually organizing them into folders by name, franchise, universe, timeline, character, hair color, etc., but now it's becoming too much work. And with this image-friendly site, combined with the AI-generated image craze, it's too easy to get carried away downloading several hundred new images in an hour, creating even more work.

Not sure how you'd even be able to get an AI assistant to do it for you, considering it would need to be trained on recognizing not just the character, but all the different depictions of her within her own franchise, and the seemingly endless variety of art styles from countless fan artists. It might even get messier with crossover art or cosplay scenarios.

It wasn't. IBM had superior fabs at the time and just buried it with clock speed. Pentium Pro demonstrated that ISA doesn't matter because you can translate to a different instruction set with negligible overhead. Intel didn't cash in on it properly until a long time after.

Basically fabrication tech superiority leads processor speed superiority. With near 100% certainty in consumer CPUs because the market is so cost sensitive.
>also how is arm basically beating now?
Basically it isn't, but once again market dominance is downstream from access to fabrication tech.

No. It does not matter where i plug them in they still make noise. I dont even have to plug in the aux cord, the usb power is enough.

I am not using any extension cables. Just the cable that goes into the unit and into my computer or whatever else has a usb port. So far the only thing that i think might change something are those ferrite things since they are kinda everywhere but its still weird.

Some reviews complain about noise while others do not. So i think its the source but still.

Yup. Got hired at a tech job one time, based on the assumption and ability to put up with race jokes.
A different job interview had 2 separate days parts. 1st is personality, and 2nd is ability to the actual job first. Logically it should be the other way, if it was a really skilled job to begin with.

Why do computers get slow after a couple years and how to fix it?
>>
>>103241556
there's many potential reasons for this, though the first thing to know is that computer hardware doesn't actually get slower over time. about the only reason why hardware could physically get slower is because of something like accumulation of dust, which can cause components to throttle their speed to prevent overheating, which can be fixed by cleaning the computer. on the software side, this is usually just because people tend to accumulate junk, people install more things, which they forget about but still use resources, or they're updating software, and newer versions use more resources and so run slower. also even if you keep the same software, external things you use such as websites may themselves become heavier over time, or things you create or edit such as photos and videos become larger and the things you want to do with them more complex, which can affect your perception
another reason is by comparison, a computer may appear to get slower over time, as a user is exposed to newer, faster computers

basically, if you want your computer to stay the same speed forever, keep it clean, keep using it the same way, never update your software or do new things with it, and don't look at new computers

i bought a cheap refurbished chinkshit 2k 144hz va monitor off of ebay. it has these really weird horizontal white scanlines. they're really noticeable on red and green tones. you can hardly see them on a white black or grey background. if i go to a higher refresh rate they become less noticeable. is there anyway i can fix this. i'm using really cheap hdmi/displayport cables. im really not in the mood to return this i'll have to walk all the way to the fedex store buy ducttape package it up wait for it to get back to illinois and then wait for a new monitor to arrive

Bouncing a port to another IP isn't reverse proxying. Right?
To me reverse proxying means

>incoming connection to http://whatever/3 reverses to internal service c
And so on. Assuming you are running all the services locally.

As >>103244722 put it, basically no.
Your laptop screen must be very good to have it be worth using and most are not. It will be simpler and more effective to just buy a portable monitor or something instead.

Same goes with smartphones, it would be neat to scrap a phone but repurpose the screen for tiny displays but they're made in such a way that they're basically e-waste and not meant to ever be reused.

If your laptop screen isn't 14" 4K 144hz or something it's junk.
>>
>>103244700
Port forwarding/bouncing/redirecting isn't reverse proxying in any sense.
Reverse proxy use case could involve a number of services you want to appear under one.
Like bittorrent console at 127.0.0.1:9091/bittorrent and a CockPit console at 127.0.0.1:8888 -> you could have them available globally at a singular URL hosted by Nginx or similar software.

Is there a way to emulate different a different system environment like GPU under Windows10?
Without VirtualBox. I'm thinking of something like WINE emulator under Windows.

I have around ~30 hours in simple game called Dust to the End with a game-breaking bug and its driving me crazy.
The game is made with unity and haven't received a meaningful update in years. The bug seems incredibly unique, nobody ever seems to have encountered it.
It's a graphical glitch that appears in the later regions of the game and freezes crucial non-skippable combat encounters. It manifests through missing textures and frozen animation. I could work around the bug so far, but not anymore.
I've tried everything. EVERYTHING, including recompiling part of the C# game code in hopes of preventing the specific mob spawn likely causing it, without success. I've downloaded the game from a dozen different sources and saves are not compatible between versions. I'm losing my mind...

The game is made by chinese devs and I suspect the dumb chinks accidentally left a character somewhere in the code relating to animation that gets triggered by my system. I literally have every language pack installed since my system needs to be trilingual. I have no other idea why it's affecting only me.
So I need to emulate Windows under Windows... Or emulate Linux under Windows, to emulate Windows.... or emulate an integrated GPU... or something, without going down the VirtualBox rabbit hole!

We do. It's just that we have a lot of climate zones where snow and ice are very rare and it's too warm and wet for true winter tires through most of the season. Even the area I live in, which does get a decent amount of snow, basically swings back and forth between +5-10C in the daytime and -5-10C at night, almost every day from November to April, with multiple dry weeks and then a few days of snow, and it makes tire choice really hard.

>>
>>103251865
I am not an expert. However:
Unless there's some hardware limitation (check for your old windows versions) or hardware magic OS license (common for enterprise machines), I'm pretty sure it should work. If it doesn't, you can just move it back to your old machine. You really should be backing up your stuff though, anon. Even handling old spinny drives can damage them.
>>
>>103251865
You could try to boot it for the lulz but I don't think you'd see anything past the startup animation. Even if it could technically run, Windows anti-features would kick in regardless and prevent it from working.

Community colleges usually have an 'intro to programming' class. Though codeacademy or just the Python manual is probably what you want. Computer science is a networking venue not a trade school. have you considered that maybe it's not related to your gpu/3d subsystem, and rather it's something else blowing up, which simply has a side-effect of corrupted textures/animation?
like maybe marginal ram
i mean, if you're getting /the same/ corruption between native directx, wined3d and dxvk, then it's really unlikely to even be a graphics-related glitch, rather something happening before that point
one tool i know of which can change what gpu is reported to a game is dgvoodoo, though it's more for older games. some games, especially older ones, have different code paths if you have a different gpu (like ati vs. nvidia vs. intel, or particular series), so faking what card you have could change its' behaviour by itself
