Anything terribly wrong with this built? Workstation with storage space that should run cool. SSDs are from the old setup. Went for more expensive MB to future-proof; should work well with 9000X series out-of-the-box, 5x M.2 slots, M.2 doesn't interfere with GPU(?). If theres a new patch of GPUs coming up in january, then I probably shouldn't invest heavily on GPU. 3060 should be good bang-for-the-buck card for workstation.

Reminder that DLSS and 1080p can work very good, you just have to tweak the scaling factor because indeed even at quality mode the resulting resolution that the game renders at is smaller than even what 1440p balanced has to work with.
To fix that use a scaling that results in a resolution with 0.00% aspect ratio error and which sits above the balanced 1440 preset.
Pic related are the scaling factors, the dark green is matching 1440p quality and the brighter one matches the minimum balanced 1440p. Already made sure that all the values have the proper aspect ratio.

It's fantastic, it increases measured contrast but the more fantastic thing is that it changes the perception so much your monitor suddenly feels premium. You should research what DLSS is and does.

DLSS allows you to adjust the level of detail (LOD) bias easily, so that a lower resolution render, like 1488x837, can utilize assets and rules designed for higher resolutions, such as 1440p or 4K. This lower-resolution image is then fed into a convolutional autoencoder network trained on massive datasets. This network also receives motion vectors, and potentially other inputs like depth information, to infer the missing color and brightness values of the intermediary pixels. It also uses the upscaled previous frame and its metadata to upscale to your target resolution (e.g., 1920x1080). in my case it was generally too big, I had to compensate the size by pushing the monitor further and further away up to a point where it felt very unnatural and it impacted the way I managed my desk space.
it also kinda forces you into a single monitor setup because finding a matching monitor setup isn't too easy. I personally dislike using window management tools cause burn-in goes hard with it, and my workflow and softwares are more tailored for multiple monitors.

the 32" LG OLED monitor was a huge disappointment. the matte coating is grainy, HDR sucks (unless you like blasting white), whites have a tint, and I'm not that big on 4k resolution since games need DLSS otherwise you're just getting fucked with DSC for imaginary 240hz.

as long as you're fine with the size and get a QD-OLED I don't really think there's any downsides to it, just make sure you actually have control over the ambient light in your room because OLED is pointless in bright environments.

So how good is 14600k actually with 4x ddr4 samsung bdie tuned? I have hard time finding any up to date information. 14600k is fairly big step down from 14900k in normie benchmarks due to smaller cache, but that should mean memory would make even bigger difference, bringing it closer? Hardware Unboxed are using some cucked ddr5 setup on whatever gear, whereas on Frame Chasers and some other random guy showed that DDR4 gives worse avg but better lows compared to high-end ddr5 which I like. Then on the other hand, 7600x and the like got boosted in newer Windows updates, are slightly cheaper, but would require buying DDR5 and selling my bdies. I guess tuned 14600k would be likely better than non-3d AMD. But then again it's dead end platform and questionable if the CPU would last 5 years with the flaw. On 7600x system I could upgrade to 9800x3d later.

Look around for two sticks of 24 Gigs of RAM with higher clock speeds and timings. You will never need 64 Gigs of RAM. 48 will become the new 32. Game bloat has zero chance of reaching the need for 64 until the new gen of consoles come out and start pushing for 8K gaming.

Can I get some opinions on my planned build/upgrade? A bunch of stuff was already purchased or is getting reused like the GPU and 970 EVO Plus.

My main concern is the mobo, Pro RS and Tomahawk seem more competitively priced in EU but not sure how much worse they are in practice.
I think the RAM might be A-die? I got it for super cheap with the AliExpress sale recently so hopefully I'm not getting memed.
Would also like to keep that PSU, only seems to miss the second EPS12v for modern motherboards but it's been reliable for me.

SW is mostly pertaining to single core loads. There's some multi-core stuff going on but it's largely bound to processor frequency. So an x3d chip might be good for gaming but they're worse for work loads due to lower clock speeds

Those eat like 20-40W, maybe 50W if he goes B650E/X670E/X870E (those are dual chipset, which adds another ~8-10W). Which puts you at ~760W with a 9800X3D and a 4090. A 80+ Gold 1000W PSU can easily handle ~750W max load including occasional spikes 10-20% above it.

And that's without the fact that if you disable turbo clocks and undervolt the GPU, they'll both use half the power.

A "workstation" needs more RAM: 2 x 48GB makes sense to START with! Even for gamers 2x24 makes more sense than 2x16 as games already start to require 32GB (Stalker 2) - and eventually more - for best performance. I suspect you guys are so poor that you can't even do reasonable long term investments of some few bucks that would buy a goyslop meal at best.

Let me take a moment to talk about DLSS from an engineering perspective.
The average human can perceive about 15 frames per second. TV here in the US is typically displayed at 27 frames per second. Your LED lights in your house are cycling at 60 frames per second or 60 hertz.
Here are a few questions to consider:
Can you see the lights blinking in your house? Generally NO!
Can you see your TV shutter or blink? NO could you imagine the crybabies that would come out of the woodwork!

Can not perceive anything above 30 frames per second, f@#@ no!

This higher framerate thing is all about a reduction in latency, here's why:
Starting at 60 frames per second, the real word latency works out to be 14ms (14 milliseconds) 1 milliseconds is equal to 100/1 of a second 14 milliseconds is equal to 14/100 of a second.
120 frames per second = 8ms. Even though you cannot see the difference between 8 milliseconds and 14 milliseconds if you stack together hundreds of frames cumulatively you can definitely feel the difference in total frame time. Ever play one of your piece of crap Xboxes or PlayStation, any PC Gamer will know they feel like garbage because of the inherent latency.
Where am I headed with this? DLSS adds to latency and increases average frame time. Guys you can't see the fu***** frames. But you can feel the difference if 100 frames are stacked together this is why latency matters!

Responsiveness is all about frame time and nothing about frame rate. Where it's really confusing is that by increasing the frame rate under normal conditions you decrease the latency and it's directly proportional. But if you have some fake generation crap, your ship sh$%$ NOT going to feel better

Don't buy into the hype, and don't believe everything that a company is trying to sell you!
I suggest you use science, and objective reasoning to rationalize an outcome not what some Jack wagon tells you.
