Anything terribly wrong with this built? Workstation with storage space that should run cool. SSDs are from the old setup. Went for more expensive MB to future-proof; should work well with 9000X series out-of-the-box, 5x M.2 slots, M.2 doesn't interfere with GPU(?). If theres a new patch of GPUs coming up in january, then I probably shouldn't invest heavily on GPU. 3060 should be good bang-for-the-buck card for workstation.

Reminder that DLSS and 1080p can work very good, you just have to tweak the scaling factor because indeed even at quality mode the resulting resolution that the game renders at is smaller than even what 1440p balanced has to work with.To fix that use a scaling that results in a resolution with 0.00% aspect ratio error and which sits above the balanced 1440 preset.Pic related are the scaling factors, the dark green is matching 1440p quality and the brighter one matches the minimum balanced 1440p. Already made sure that all the values have the proper aspect ratio.https://github.com/emoose/DLSSTweaksBy default on all resolutions DLSS works with a fixed scaling factor that is underwhelming for the lower res.
>>103217734Man do you know how easy it is to remove the coating from a display? The only downside is that you're voiding warranty so do it to an old display, a very cheap one or a second hand one. It's fantastic, it increases measured contrast but the more fantastic thing is that it changes the perception so much your monitor suddenly feels premium. I'm confident that a big part of why OLED displays look so good to people is because they often come with glossy panels, so it feels like you're staring into a clean window.

>>103217817If you cannot move the source of light from the front of your display just craft a monitor hood over it, it will also increase your contrast further - also do not play with windows behind your monitor in full daylight, use moderate room light to no light at all.Matte coating is only necessary for wagie slaves in very bright slave offices with lights above and behind them.
>>103217817I've used the glossy oleds in retail store lighting and it was fine but idk maybe autists have different triggers
>>103217773You should research what DLSS is and does.DLSS allows you to adjust the level of detail (LOD) bias easily, so that a lower resolution render, like 1488x837, can utilize assets and rules designed for higher resolutions, such as 1440p or 4K. This lower-resolution image is then fed into a convolutional autoencoder network trained on massive datasets. This network also receives motion vectors, and potentially other inputs like depth information, to infer the missing color and brightness values of the intermediary pixels. It also uses the upscaled previous frame and its metadata to upscale to your target resolution (e.g., 1920x1080). The result acts as anti-aliasing, removes the blur often associated with Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), and looks very close to native resolution. This entire process creates an image that fills all the pixels of your display, appearing as if it were natively rendered at that resolution. Your suggested method of integer scaling results in a blurry image because it significantly reduces the pixels per inch (PPI), especially on larger displays (27 inches and above). It's also less computationally efficient because you're rendering at a higher native resolution anyway. You don't get the benefit of LOD bias without the associated resource cost, you don't achieve the same anti-aliasing quality, and you experience a significant drop in frames per second (fps).
>>103217815>comparing the competition here vs the 480hz oledagain any cheap 165-240hz strobe will outperform OLED in image persistence and motion clarity, refresh rate is entirely irrelevant at that point.don't talk about motion clarity if you don't actually care about it for anything else than shilling OLED.>I thought it was nearly the same thingit's a lot more restrictive. OLED brightness with BFI gets down to 100nits or lower, on top of reducing your refresh rate by half at least : not worth it.>it has 240hz/120 bfi alsoall Asus OLEDs have BFI even the 240hz, it's not new>leaning towards 4k 240hz qdoledgood, just make sure size is fine for you.I tried 3 times to make 4k OLEDs work (owned 55" LG C1, 42" C2, 32" 240hz LG monitor) and I could never get used to it, much prefer the 27" QD-OLEDs even at 1440p.>ok I will get back to you when I have purchased allyou don't even own a single one of the things you talk about, you're just parroting hearsay and projecting cargocult from youtube and reddit.
>>103217888Also each rendered image has sub-pixel jitter (slight, imperceptible adjustments to the camera or viewport) which helps stabilize a lot of elements. People have measured its latency impact and it's basically non existent and only improves with time. Also it's a single, generalized network that works across games, you can update the network with ease. You could argue that what it does is to make highly educated guesses based on past and present data, motion vectors, and sophisticated algorithms, each guess being near perfect and contextually proper and as fast as classical methods.

I personally dislike using window management tools cause burn-in goes hard with it, and my workflow and softwares are more tailored for multiple monitors.the 32" LG OLED monitor was a huge disappointment. the matte coating is grainy, HDR sucks (unless you like blasting white), whites have a tint, and I'm not that big on 4k resolution since games need DLSS otherwise you're just getting fucked with DSC for imaginary 240hz.as long as you're fine with the size and get a QD-OLED I don't really think there's any downsides to it, just make sure you actually have control over the ambient light in your room because OLED is pointless in bright environments.

So how good is 14600k actually with 4x ddr4 samsung bdie tuned? I have hard time finding any up to date information. 14600k is fairly big step down from 14900k in normie benchmarks due to smaller cache, but that should mean memory would make even bigger difference, bringing it closer? Hardware Unboxed are using some cucked ddr5 setup on whatever gear, whereas on Frame Chasers and some other random guy showed that DDR4 gives worse avg but better lows compared to high-end ddr5 which I like. Then on the other hand, 7600x and the like got boosted in newer Windows updates, are slightly cheaper, but would require buying DDR5 and selling my bdies. I guess tuned 14600k would be likely better than non-3d AMD. But then again it's dead end platform and questionable if the CPU would last 5 years with the flaw. pretty much the build im wanting to buy for black friday>AMD Ryzen 7 9700X >NZXT Kraken 280 (outtake fans)>X870 AORUS ELITE>G.Skill Flare X5 64 GB>Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB>NZXT H6 Flowi dont really play games anymore so i went with the 9700x
>>103219791rumao. The 5090 by itself is going to use 600W, my dude. The 9800X3D is 115, I believe, right? So that's 715 before you factor in the RAM, the motherboard, the drives, etc. If you can pull it off, god bless.
>>103219811If you want to do gaming there's no reason not to get a 9800X3D right now as it's barely worth more than the 7800X3D at retailers right now, if it goes up in price due to the demand THEN it will be worth looking back to the 7000 series.
>>103215121I can't wait to be team blue again!Watch the top end Intel Battlemage gpu come with 16GB of GDDR6X and cost $399
>>103219828GPU is going to be my old 2070 until i decide to upgrade to a new GPU
>>103219828Look around for two sticks of 24 Gigs of RAM with higher clock speeds and timings. You will never need 64 Gigs of RAM. 48 will become the new 32. Game bloat has zero chance of reaching the need for 64 until the new gen of consoles come out and start pushing for 8K gaming.
>>103219765not really it will work fine. bottlenecking would be if you had a 4500 or something weak like that. 5600g is basically like 5500
Can I get some opinions on my planned build/upgrade? A bunch of stuff was already purchased or is getting reused like the GPU and 970 EVO Plus.My main concern is the mobo, Pro RS and Tomahawk seem more competitively priced in EU but not sure how much worse they are in practice.I think the RAM might be A-die? I got it for super cheap with the AliExpress sale recently so hopefully I'm not getting memed.Would also like to keep that PSU, only seems to miss the second EPS12v for modern motherboards but it's been reliable for me.
>>103219833what about for multi-core work loads in programs like solidworks?
>>103219871>24huh? they do that now? I thought it was 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 like that
>>103217671High end boards are pretty gay.
>>103219908SW is mostly pertaining to single core loads. There's some multi-core stuff going on but it's largely bound to processor frequency. So an x3d chip might be good for gaming but they're worse for work loads due to lower clock speeds
>>103219911
>>103219829>before you factor in the RAM, the motherboard, the drives, etc. Those eat like 20-40W, maybe 50W if he goes B650E/X670E/X870E (those are dual chipset, which adds another ~8-10W). Which puts you at ~760W with a 9800X3D and a 4090. A 80+ Gold 1000W PSU can easily handle ~750W max load including occasional spikes 10-20% above it.And that's without the fact that if you disable turbo clocks and undervolt the GPU, they'll both use half the power.
>>103219871i use a lot of photoshop and lightroom so that 64gb would be useful for me
>>103219936Oh, that's fair. Pretty much everyone here is just trying to play video games and browse the internet. My mistake for assuming.
>>103219945oh yeah no worries. its hard to convince myself not to go for the 9800x3d when every other anon here plans on getting it for vidya
>>103217640A "workstation" needs more RAM: 2 x 48GB makes sense to START with! Even for gamers 2x24 makes more sense than 2x16 as games already start to require 32GB (Stalker 2) - and eventually more - for best performance. I suspect you guys are so poor that you can't even do reasonable long term investments of some few bucks that would buy a goyslop meal at best.
Let me take a moment to talk about DLSS from an engineering perspective. The average human can perceive about 15 frames per second. TV here in the US is typically displayed at 27 frames per second. Your LED lights in your house are cycling at 60 frames per second or 60 hertz. Here are a few questions to consider:Can you see the lights blinking in your house? Generally NO!Can you see your TV shutter or blink? NO could you imagine the crybabies that would come out of the woodwork! Can not perceive anything above 30 frames per second, f@#@ no!This higher framerate thing is all about a reduction in latency, here's why:Starting at 60 frames per second, the real word latency works out to be 14ms (14 milliseconds) 1 milliseconds is equal to 100/1 of a second 14 milliseconds is equal to 14/100 of a second.120 frames per second = 8ms. Even though you cannot see the difference between 8 milliseconds and 14 milliseconds if you stack together hundreds of frames cumulatively you can definitely feel the difference in total frame time. Ever play one of your piece of crap Xboxes or PlayStation, any PC Gamer will know they feel like garbage because of the inherent latency.Where am I headed with this? DLSS adds to latency and increases average frame time. Guys you can't see the fu***** frames. But you can feel the difference if 100 frames are stacked together this is why latency matters!Responsiveness is all about frame time and nothing about frame rate. Where it's really confusing is that by increasing the frame rate under normal conditions you decrease the latency and it's directly proportional. But if you have some fake generation crap, your ship sh$%$ NOT going to feel betterDon't buy into the hype, and don't believe everything that a company is trying to sell you!I suggest you use science, and objective reasoning to rationalize an outcome not what some Jack wagon tells you.

EU(Croatia), not in the loop on pc parts at all. Around 1000e but I can spend more if there are really good deals. Ideally I wouldn't need to upgrade for a very long time.Currently on 1080p 144hz but will get a 1440p 144+hz monitor in the future, and I won't be playing games on more than that ever. I'm rarely interested in AAA games but want to be able to play if a cool one comes out. Mostly want to be able to play games like CS2 normally. I code and do data related stuff, data hoard, use photoshop and sketchup sometimes but never had any big issues on this old pc. I also run a Plex server and would maybe like to do in-home game streaming, too. I have a 980 pro and a case (Fractal Define XL) , and will probably buy a used GPU. Need recommendations for everything else including which GPUs to look for.

Unless you really need 24GB VRAM for work that earns you money you better wait with a new PC or get some used/cheap card for it to be rudimentary useable until the 5080 gets available.

The 40XXs deliver fucktons of power capable of maxing everything. The only only exception being if you run 4k on the most graphically intensive games (or terribly optimized games) which isn't something 99.9% of us do. Even for 1440p 144hz any of the 40XXs are grossly overpowered.

This was promised before the launch of 4090 and I didn't saw a single offer I could have put in the shopping cart. Not for a nanosecond.
