I have x250 can someone link me long-lasting battery on aliexpress?
Is there any chance of a arm x1 or was the x13s too big a flop?
God I love the X280
I dug out my old x220 that I used for college back in 2012 but startup takes about 100 years and once it gets to desktop the CPU temp idles at like 90-100cI assume I'm gonna have to completely dismantle the thing and clean out the heatsink and change the thermal paste, right? Are there any good guides or resources on tearing down an x220? I've never taken apart a laptop and this is a tinyass form factor so I'm hesitant
>>103219890I've done that with my x220 and only managed to get the temps down to like 50-70cIt honestly might not be worth it beyond just saying you have a legendary model like the x220
>>103219890At those temps yeah you need a repaste. It will make a very significant difference.
it off my old t61 from grad school this fall, even running a fairly light distro it still seems perhaps the day of the core 2 duo is at its end, video playback above 480p is hit or miss even with a t9300 and 8gb of ddr2. It was a good war horse i wish we still made laptops like it.
What is consensus about current thinkpad models? I've been thinking about replacing my x270 since it doesn't keep up with everything I do for a E14 with a ryzen 5 7535U
>>103188675>I'm using a long custom CSS howeverIf it’s not too much of an inconvenience, and if you wouldn’t mind, I would be deeply grateful if you could please share it.

>>103223820There's a retailer in my shithole country whose selling a yoga with an i5 10310U, FHD display, 16 and 512 for the same price. For 450, 16 Gb of ram should be a minimum as it's soldered on the x1 yogas
>>103223912yeah, of course this is also preowned, and i live in a shitter country too. i initially didnt know about the 8 gb soldered ram, but now that ive looked deeper and deeper into it its just kind of a dealbreaker now
>>103222839I don't think anyone will provide you his personal, custom CSS; hence, no use asking.
What's the smallest screen /g/-approved Thinkpad? Like anything 11-12" would be nice. Main use case is for browsing/office stuff at the couch, in bed. So a small laptop I can easily set aside and actually use on my lap seems appealing. Bright screen I can use outdoors is a bonus but I'd mostly use it in my gazebo which usually has good shade unless the sun is right in that spot behind me.
>>103224587X120e is about it for netbook size shit without delving into tabletshit. You could maybe do an 11e. But they're very old.Moving up to a 12.5" size you have more options - everything from the X220 to an X280 depending on budget.Going modern there's the X1 Nano. It's a 13.3" screen but physical dimensions are very close to the old X220-80 12.5" machines. That said focus more on physical dimensions rather than screen size.
Why is this piece of shit ultrabay seen&capped as sata2 instead of sata3
>>103217955bought a t460 a while ago>upgraded ram, wifi and ssdthe ThinkPad sticker on the palmrest is faded out but i cant find a fitting one
I recently bought a T480s with a touchscreen, however it doesn't work in large areas. I just had a look at the LCD connector and it seems as if some pins are damaged. Will I be able to just replace the cable and get touch working fully? Anyone here had this problem yet?

I currently have an "old" ThinkPad 13" 2nd gen with an i3-7100U processor and upgraded RAM to 32GiB.I had to upgrade the RAM because of VM work and such. Now with CLion using even more resources, and the old i3 starting to feel very sluggish, I've been looking for a new laptop for a while. There's a nice sale on refurbished ThinkPad L14 here now on about $360.I'm just scared that I'm not upgrading enough since that L14 is still just DDR4 and the CPU is a couple of gens behind. But looking at laptops costing twice the amount, they usually have a Ryzen 5 7520U which for some reason is slower than the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U in this machine.Should I go for it bros?
>>103228819The Ryzen CPU is significantly faster. I'm not sure why you'd feel that way. This isn't like a generation or two CPU jump with marginal gains. It's a lot. Go compare them on a benchmark website like Passmark or something. Having more cores to dedicate to your VM(s) will also be a welcome improvement. Can't comment on price, varies too much from place to place and how much """refurbished""" means to you, and if there's a warranty, etc.
>>103229147>The Ryzen CPU is significantly faster. I'm not sure why you'd feel that way.I have a Ryzen 7 2700X in my desktop computer, and that just feels fast enough. Never really been CPU bound on that machine. Only when using local language models or playing Cyberpunk 2077 has it been maxed out.>Can't comment on price, varies too much from place to place and how much """refurbished""" means to you, and if there's a warranty, etc. There's very nice laws on warranties over here. There's two years of warranty on that laptop.I don't really do that much VM stuff on my laptop anymore, or any computer for that matter. The main thing that eats up my time is compiling software. And on the laptop it takes like 5 minutes until the CPU finally isn't maxed out after waking it for sleep. I guess that L14 won't have that problem.I think I should buy it then. But I still hate using money, especially when I already have a laptop that works as well as it did when I got it.

Damn, I love my T15 gen 1 I got for $150.
>>103231162Yes
thinkfags who upgraded to a glass trackpad is it worth it?
>>103219890No doubt it's due for a repaste, but does it have a spinning HDD in it? Upgrade to SSD and put more RAM in it if you can, maybe install Linux if that's your bag. My T420 is still the only laptop I own and it works well enough I feel no reason to buy anything newer.
difference between intel 8th gen and 10th gen? im looking at 8th gen cpu with more ram and 10th gen cpu with less ram (x1 yoga)
>>103232176Very little. 12th gen is the next worthwhile jump after 8th. My advice - opt for the 8th gen with more RAM.People rarely talk about screens but you gotta stare at this fucking thing all day, don't get one with a shitty panel. Or if you tinker get it cheap enough you can replace it with a higher specced one.
>>103232261thats what i was thinking too. honestly i dont know really why im such a stickler for the x1 yoga but so far i would say the preowned older models are around $400-600, i cant really find any preowned P models, and i might look into using it kind of like a sketch or drawing tablet in the future.
>>103229216>>103229147I ended up buying it.
Is there a setting in Windows that shows if a panel is TN or IPS. I wanna ask a seller about that, but don't know if they know the difference? >>103227461But /csg/ told me KingSener is good.
Is there a decent option for a modern high-end Thinkpad (P series or whatnot) with a high-DPI screen (at least scaling factor 2) and an AMD GPU? Nvidia is unusable.
Is tiling WM good for sub 14" thinkpad?
>>103234310Enjoy. You won't regret it.>>103232755Don't sleep on Ryzen models in that same processor generation/age range. They tend to be pricier but it's worth a look.>>103234355If you have the serial you can cross reference it with Lenovo's site and see what it was built with. That, and look up the PSRef for that model Thinkpad. Unless it has multiple panels at a particular resolution and touch/nontouch option, you may be able to figure it out thru process of elimination. Failing that, there are a variety of ways to get the panel's "EDID", which will tell you what it is.KingSener is the best chinkshit you're going to get. Their QC isn't perfect, but your odds are better.
