Guys, is it normal for modern phones like the Poco X6 Pro to run hotter than older models?

I just upgraded from a 2020 Motorola to this phone and literally without doing anything (I'm not even planning to install games), just with the screen on, there's noticeable heat both on the back and screen area. I got it no more than an hour and a half ago, and during the initial setup, it was warm the whole time until now (Not to an uncomfortable level of high temperature but I think it's exaggerated, or I don't know.). After that, all I did was open the themes app and I think it got even warmer. Right now, after being idle for about 7 minutes with the screen off, it's finally starting to feel normal, solid cold, like my shitty Motorola would while doing low power tasks.

I have a 9 pro. It's okay. I only got it because I had busted the screen on my pixel 7. I copied my entire setup over and things work the same, so I can't complain.
Since I root my phones, Google helpfully disabled all the dumb AI features for me so I'm not getting distracted.

Wondering the same thing. Samsung has great support, probably less ads and is more trustworthy but the camera seems pretty suboptimal. Every picture I've seen looks either overexposed or unnatural as fuck. The Xiaomi has a great camera, more storage and a dedicated toggle to mute the shutter sound. So I will probably get that one. Everything about it seems to be the better product.

I don't use the Google charger much if at all. I really only bring it on vacation/traveling. Day to day the phone gets charged:

I know you can replace USB ports but I don't and won't. I consider modern phones completely non-user-serviceable.

Unless the mfr includes an obvious and easy way to get in (basically no modern phones do), taking a phone apart to replace the battery or USB port or anything else, the phone will never be the same again and you compromise any IP rating you may have had so I just do my best to make the phone last as long as I possibly can without having to take it apart.

I just realized something. I never experienced old school smartphones properly, because I had no mobile data until like 2015, and was heavily limited with my data cap until straight up 2019, when it loosened up to like 5GB a month and I started using my phone a lot more. I've had smartphones since 2012.
My old phones' batteries seemingly lasted a lot, because I barely used them! It's not like they had amazing battery life and SoT, I just only did like 1 hour SoT per day or something stupid like that. Nowadays I do at minimum 3h and that's "light usage" days, while heavy days can go up to 7 hours of SoT.
Now I finally understand why my classmates back in high school years ago brought their chargers to school - they actually used their phones, because they had internet on them, and needed to top up their tiny 2000-3000mAh batteries midday.

I'm thinking of going BIG again for my next phone. I tried to be funny and got a regular-sized/small phone (S23) for my current one and there's 2 major drawbacks - battery is just okay, and thermals are NOT okay when playing ZZZ. The compact phone dream is over.
