Looking for a 1440p gaming monitor under $500; something with decent contrast ratio, good motion handling, and minimal VRR flicker
>>
how do you know how much fans is enough for your build? also what fan speed is right?
>>
>>103245748
bitch go clean my toilet and stop using my laptop
>>
>>103245779
I tried maxing out case fans, just got too loud. Went down to 2x front, 1x rear, now it's quiet and temps are about the same so I'm happy with that. I guess the best answer is just try different setups until you find the sweet spot for you.
>>
Currently looking for a good monitoring panel, my budget is 350 euros. Are there any recommendations or is this a matter for another thread?
>>
>>103245789
shes looking down on you for being a itoddler
>>
>>103245779
You should probably have at least as many case fans as you do component fans (CPU and GPU). Unless you're doing something unusual like running it with the case open, in which case airflow isn't an issue.
The more fan throughput you have (more fans, larger fans), the lower speed they need to run to meet the airflow needs. Though noise is only as good as the loudest fan, so if you are just cramming more in there for the sake of it don't go for cheap shit.
Use the motherboard to control fan speeds and throttle up to match how hard your component fans are working.
>>
>>103245864
Shit... maybe it's her laptop then, but that not why I pay her.

What's a good psu for my a770 13600k build? Only using it for htpc could I get away with 650w?
>>
>>103245891
That's good, if they're all the same you'll get positive pressure. It's good in dusty environments.
>>
i'm looking to replace my case because it's fans are very loud and while i managed to negate most if it using custom fan curves it's getting worse probably due to some combination of deep dirt that needs cleaning and general material deterioration. looking for a good mid tower that will use water cooling for the cpu instead of air cooling i am using now. i want a case that has a little bit of window but not too much glass because i'm a rentcuck and shit breaks when moving. recs?

current case is fractal torrent compact if it matters, very very pretty case but way too fucking loud

also i've read the recommendations in the OP but i think i want to try something different more specific for my needs if possible
>>
5090 when? I wanna blow it the fuck up with my gook psu!
>>
>>103245946
Sex in exchange for 5090? Can't be me, that shit will consume like 600W.
>>
>>103245778
Two good ones are listed in the OP.

>>103245779
3 fans is enough for most good air flow cases. And they come standard with them. If you are in doubt, just buy one of the cases from the OP. They come with adequate fans and start at like $60-70.

I ordered some of those DDR5 sticks from Teamgroup (T-Force Delta), does anyone know if they're actually A-die? Timings are 30-36-36-76-112 at 6000Mhz EXPO settings.

Only info I can gather is that they're Hynix and Thaiphoon reports the chips as "H5CG48?GBDX014", so it can't confirm A or M.
Kingbank allegedly sells A-die sticks with the same timings and reading also reports that same parts code.

Tempted to think they have to be A-die because it seems like M-die isn't even used anymore for 6000CL30 DDR5 but I don't know.

There's not much point spending that much for a 1440p monitor unless you're getting an OLED monitor. I believe there are some in your price range but I'm not from the US.
I'd either spend a lot less and get a Dell G2724D or spend a bit more and get a 240/360hz QD-OLED, doesn't matter which one cause they all have the same panel and don't use vendor-specific tuning like pixel overdrive.

You don't need that many if you got something with high rpm and good pressure. Which is pretty much every Fan on the market now unless we're talking utter chinkshit. It's more about positioning and power draw. If your components aren't power hogs that eat 700w just to boot up, you should never run into thermal issues even if you go with very few or zero case fans.

How big of a hit is using a true workstation CPU for gaming?
I want to build a dual-purpose gaming and machine learning PC. I was looking at the Threadrippers for their memory and I/O bandwidth (even a low-end 7960X manages 170 GB/s compared to 90 GB/s for the 9800X3D). But I've heard the warnings in the past about how these wide-ass workstation CPU's suffer on single-application performance.
How relevant are the concerns today? I've seen benchmarks for the 5000-series threadrippers that seem to suggest it isn't as bad as it used to be.

Both those still cap out in the 80-90 GB/s range for memory bandwidth.
Seriously, machine learning soaks memory access really hard (which is why GPU's dominate it). A medium LLM might guzzle 140 GB of memory access per word it spits out. So twice as much memory bandwidth might mean the difference between the model typing 30 WPM and 60 WPM.
Definitely not going with some 24-channel, dual CPU server build though, even if that would hit TB/s memory access. Too much of a performance hit for other uses of the PC.

I wouldn't say you need to baby them but no, burn-in isn't fixed and will happen quite fast if you use your OLED as a regular monitor. The steps to mitigate the biggest burn-in threats aren't too restrictive though.
What I do is hide the taskbar, keep a black wallpaper, monitor shutdown after 10 mins AFK and mainly use my second monitor for all fixed application and web browsing (still jerk off using the OLED monitor).

It's fine as a main monitor as long as you mainly use it for media, if you have to work with it, browse web for hours or use the same softwares over and over, it'll likely start showing burn-in.
It also depends a lot on how much you actually use your PC, I'm on it 10 hours a day but it might be different for you.

42" 144hz WOLED LG C4
vs
32" 240hz QDOLED monitors

The question still persists.

Does one take the TV-pill and get more ports, built in sound, larger screen and also skip the DSC-related issues like the nvidia 5-15 second black screen alt tab thingy
or
Does one take the new QDOLED pill which probably is better overall but some downsides also the nvidia dsc thingy

I'm still undecided, would have bought the asus already if it was decently priced before it got fucked, the alienware has the curve, the msi is sold out on a half decent price here but still kinda shit, still waiting on discount coupon from dell which might sway the decisions

they don't exist. the alt-tab bug is ONLY with fullscreen exclusive, a mode that doesn't exist anymore since DX12 and that Windows 11 has a better solution for with universal DXGI flip model (ie. DWM bypass in Borderless).

>>103247309
NTA, but this whole post is one of the reasons why I hate shopping for monitors. There's always some bullshit (warranted or not) that not a single reviewer will mention about the screen that could be a potentially impediment to you wanting to buy it that you only discover after the fact, and usually it's a really obscure, technical topic that only being extremely into this shit would ever make any sort of sense in relation to being confirmed or debunked.

>>
>>103247121
>need
No.
4070 Ti Super has around the performance and VRAM we deserve, if it was 2/3 the price.
What you should "want" is something with 12 or more gigs of VRAM and enough performance for whatever games you like playing. 30 series is really low on VRAM, and the lower 4060/Ti is absolutely gimped.
4070 (non-Ti) Super is just about right for everything at the moment. In the least silly games you'll be at 120 fps+ easily and can hit at least 100 fps on the more intensive games with DLSS Quality.

And you can always go lower, but there's drawbacks and limits.

>>103247361
Ultra High quality with RT and without DLSS on some silly unoptimized games like Alan Wake 2 and Hogwarts Legacy do not count.
>>
>>103247442
OP image is a Twitter filename, and given that most AI garbage on there isn't anime girls unless it's porn... I doubt. Some objects in the scene aren't drawn stupendously realistic but they aren't melting or wonky. I just see someone who put all their effort on the girl and the computer, and then a minimal amount of effort on the background because they didn't want to spend a lot of time working on it.
>>
>>103247345
you can't really avoid artifacts. 60FPS is a decent baseline but you also need stable frame pacing (gsync, reflex etc).
>>103247358
>every one has a different take everywhere
anyone who has an opinion on this should post their QD-OLED monitor or shut the fuck up forever.
>some people say the monitors are worse and can't compete in hdr
OLED has great brightness granularity, but is absolutely unable to do full-field bright scenes. OLED TVs are better in that aspect due to their size and WOLED has less strict ABL, but if you care about daylight scenes get a miniLED.
QD-OLED dims full-field quicker but the colors have higher luminance so it evens out, WOLED boosts white very high but color luminance is low and gamut decreases as brightness gets boosted.
see the following article : https://tftcentral.co.uk/articles/exploring-oled-brightness-improvements-woled-vs-qd-oled-and-the-need-for-new-metrics-and-specs
>I clearly stated the nvidia bug
and I clearly stated how it doesn't matter because running into this bug in 2024 would mean you are a retard running suboptimal settings.
>not being allowed to use nvidia upscaling
yes this one is true but I doubt you'd even care considering you're getting a 4k OLED anyways. it's mostly an annoyance for 1440p users.
just for clarification DSC disables Virtual Resolutions (ie. DSR/DLDSR), not DLSS as some think it does.
>even says it happens on borderless window too
FSE is almost entirely deprecated and is the sole display mode in which this alt-tab bug exists, anyone saying the opposite does NOT know what they're talking about (ie. retard).

Speaking frankly though, a lot of the time the issue is on the manufacturers. Every single monitor is different, literally. And then the problem becomes exponentially worse because of all the different panel types. Then you combine the proprietary marketing gimmicks. And then the cost. Then you need to know about this fuckin' thing or that fuckin' thing. The closest thing I could equate it to would be if for some reason DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 RAM were all being sold at the same time, all of them were potentially valid choices, and then, somehow, the RAM had a built-in software suite that you couldn't remove and every single one was different. But also they directly impacted the RAM's performance. Oh, and the RAM could conceivably cost anywhere from between 200 to 1200 dollars, but the only thing the reviewers ever talked about was the color of the RAM and RAM clearance.

I'd get a different mobo because this one seems expensive for a B650M. B650 Steel Legend should be around the same price and better all around, or you could also pick a cheaper mobo if you don't plan on upgrading CPU until AM6 comes up.
RAM I'd swap for a kit that does 30-36-36-76 timings out of the box (filter them out and pick the cheapest, doesn't matter).
I don't know what resolution you aim to play at, but if you have some spare budget you could try looking for a 7900GRE or 4070 Super.

Hello anons. I have a Lian Li O11D EVO XL and I want to jump into the upright GPU trend.
Should the fans behind the GPU be intake or exhaust? Since they're cooling the backplate.
Also, would it be ideal to get the O11D EVO XL Front Mesh Kit so that the GPU can get more fresh air?
Pic related, it's what I'm planning to do, except the GPU is in upright position and with Arctic P14 Max fans.
Thanks, anons.

Not going to commit the same mistake on that pic. Noctua fans are great when it comes to silence and performance, but I want performance and static pressure that the P14 Max provides.
>>103247766
I like the idea of full modularity on the Qube 500. Loved the reviews of it, but I settled with the O11D EVO XL because it fits my GPU.
Basically, bottom fans are supposed to be intake. Top and rear are exhaust, and front and/or side are intake.
That's how it is for traditional case setups. But since I'm going to do an upright GPU build, I wanted to ask anons about their thoughts.

I already checked multiple QVL pages but they all only mention "Hynix" without the letter. MSI QVL does say it's M-die but I'm not sure if there might have been revisions, mainly because I've seen multiple users with sub 400ns tRFC which shouldn't be possible with M-die.

shopping for a 1440 monitor for this black Friday actually (currently have a Samsung C24FG73 that is on its last legs). Things that are important to me are decent contrast ratio, G-Sync or compatible with minimal flicker, competent motion handling, and HDR would be nice.
From what I can see, my options are:
>Entry level monitors in OP at under $200, the AOC not listed as G-Sync Compatible and the Dell has terrible contrast
>the AOC Q27G3XMN, which seems better but has some issues and not a lot of dimming zones for $280
>big fucking gap with no better alternatives that I can see
>spend $600+ on an OLED that will look great but suffer from burn-in due to my mixed gaming, programming, and music production use case
Am I missing some options here? Should I just get a cheapo 1440p to hold me over until there are better monitors on the market? Am I being too paranoid about OLED burn-in? Where are all the mini LED options?

I'll have to look at the ram, I built this for him a long time ago when I was like 18-19, and was pretty uninformed about timings and ideal mhz, especially since I had only previously done intel builds at that point. But I'm glad the 5700x3d will suffice.
>>103248084
Uh GPU budget probably 3-500$. I'm probably going to buy him the 5700x3d as his b-day / christmas gift since they're so close together, and then I'll see if my parents might be willing to cover the GPU, since he's a 1st year college student and is killing his courseload r/n as far as I know.
>>
>>103248129
>minimal flicker
this alone would disqualify OLED if this is a strict requirement. VRR flicker is very much an issue on them with framerate limited menus and video players with VRR.
games rarely dip that low but could be annoying to you if you are very sensitive.
>Am I being too paranoid about OLED burn-in?
probably but it's still better to have a second monitor for persistent productivity tasks and applications. you can just get a Dell/Alienware monitor with 3 years warranty and use it somewhat worry-free.
>Where are all the mini LED options?
doa, OLED took the market by force and they're struggling at making them. they'd rather just recycle OLED panels
>>103248167

this is a non-issue, nobody wishes to pay or wait for Nvidia to certify the monitors. VRR is a VESA feature, it'll work just fine.

The GPU I was going to wait to see how the NVIDIA 5000-series cards hit the market next year.
I might just say "fuck it" and build a normal gaming desktop though, and admit I'm better off wasting my money on Azure VM's. But, fuck, the storage on Azure VM's is what grates on me. You probably wont get this reply, but FYI the laptop you chose has a battery life of 6 hours vs 28 hours the macbook pro m4 has (BUT the macbook pro is 3x more expensive I think, and only 16gb of ram and 500gb storage). but it's possible the newer version of the victus 15 is 10 hours, since that's the battery life of the 16" laptop released in 2024 (I can't tell if that's from the size or from the ryzen CPU, it's probably both).
Honestly I thought crossover was free but it's like $60 a year, holy shit (there are frequent discounts down to like $6 for a year + you can keep the version you paid for, so if you stop paying you keep it). Alternatives do exist however but it probably requires more tinkering.
The main reason I suggest mac is because I don't have an optimistic view of windows future, and I think you are going to really like the display.
You don't sound too serious about gaming (I doubt you would need more than 500gb for the games you are playing), and I think if you use crossover, it's not going to be hard to get most games running.
I hate how expensive it is, like I said, if you use your desktop more than your laptop, invest in a better desktop display (oled/miniled?), if you think your laptop will be niche use, then get the cheapest laptop that does the job. Your laptop gives around 2x more fps than a ryzen laptop without a GPU (760m/680m), the the m4 (4060 equivilant in theory) has 2x more fps than the 3050.
So the macbook pro has a chance of being a replacement for your desktop if you REALLY like it (mainly due to the display), but maybe you don't.
There are lenovo yogabooks I have heard that have 30hours of battery life (probably zero gpu power), but I don't know.

The operating system and models and shit. Those machine-learning VMs use the ultra-premium storage on Azure, because they assume if you're using an H100 you're going be demanding 10Gbit storage access.
Meanwhile I'm just pissed off how long configuring the VM took (why doesn't it ship with the right drivers???) and don't want to redo that every time I spin it up. So if work doesn't complain about floating that $80 / mo then fine, but fucked if I want to pay that for personal use.

i was originally aiming for an mitx build and would like to in the future, but thats a bit too spendy right now. just one less thing to upgrade/keep laying around once i do change things. the frozen edge came out $50 cheaper than the lf3; i can put either in my current build once the mitx upgrade happens, so cost was the biggest factor.

Ok, then there Nova is great, one of the best, but its in short supply. If you go a tier higher, ther is taichi lite. If you want to go cheaper, x870 pro rs is a good choice, I have this one. b650e = x870 also x670=x870e.

I built my current system in 2018 planning to get 5 solid years out of it, I thought Star Citizen would be a playable game by the time I wanted to upgrade anything - lol, lmao. Did my overclocking, stability tested, and haven't messed with anything since. It's been perfectly reliable. I'm driving. 1440p primary @ 120hz and a 1080p secondary at 60hz.

>Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
>i7-6700k @ 4.60GHz
>4x8GB DDR4 3400
>EVGA GTX1080 @ 2088MHz / 5027MHz

It's still going strong for most of the games I play, but just starting to show it's age a little bit with some of the more demanding games. I've had to turn some graphics settings down to get stable framerates for the first time this year.

I was thinking I'd wait for the Nvidia 5000 series to upgrade. Obviously I'll need a new mobo, CPU, and GPU. Can I just stick with my current RAM though? I know DDR5 is the new thing, but will motherboards capable of supporting the latest CPUs be backwards compatible with DDR4 and will it cause any meaningful bottleneck? I still feel like 32gb is enough, so I don't want to replace anything that isn't going to be a significant performance improvement.

Well, apparently, Arctic released several revisions of the P12 PWM PST. I've found that it's in Rev. 4 now, which means it's using Fluid Dynamic Bearings. It used to be Ball Bearings from what I've read.
Some people said that P12 Max uses Rifle Bearing, but according to Arctic's website, it uses FDB. So I guess it'll be better to wait for Rev. 2?
I'm planning on buying P14 Max myself once Arctic releases the white version. They announced it on their subl*ddit, and they're selling it on their own website. But it's not yet on Amazon.

it's VA. It's fine, I bet it's the same VA as the miniled panel so it's going to be darker than IPS without huge smearing like last gen ultra-budget VA's (but IPS is still better for clarity over contrast).
miniled is great if you spend a LOT of time in the dark, but you might notice zone artifacts while browsing the web, and you might decide to turn it off while you are not gaming / watching movies.
Also I would add, AMD is fine, but you are picking AMD because you prefer AMD as a brand, not due to being better bang per buck, the 7800 XT does not have a huge cost advantage over the 4070, and muh dlss.

Just watched this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIXL89IWXvE
So it looks like Arctic went with Fluid Dynamic Bearings immediately on the P14 Max. They learned from their mistake with the P12 and P12 Max.
It was a mistake because lots of customers complained about the noise that the Dual Ball Bearings make inside the P12 and P12 Max, so much so that it took 4 revisions of the P12, and 2 revisions of the P12 Max to get it right.
One of the comments said that he has a Rev. 1 and Rev. 2 P14 Max, which might indicate that the Rev. 2 was meant to fix the mistake on the packaging.

My water cooled build is quieter than air and keeps my temps way more stable, but it did cost too much money. I spent almost $800 on cooling parts, but most of them will last basically forever. The other big problem is that there is a ton of fuddlore about water cooling and lots of bad advice about flow rate, etc. Because I installed lots of sensors I was able to tune my setup for most effective cooling and it follows almost none of the 'advice' you'll see out there.

>you need less coolant flow than you think
>anything but distilled with simple anticorrosion and biocide, or a clear premix is a meme
>max size radiators and put them between heat generating components
>more, better fans at a lower speed
>scale fan speed on coolant temp, not chip temp

It's probably not worth it on a pure dollar value basis, but I enjoyed setting my system up and it has been ultra reliable. My controller, radiators, pump, etc will probably never die.

>>103250578
The main issue with watercooling is the upkeep. Every single time you upgrade CPU and GPU you will need new water blocks and if you use hard tubing you will need to adjust it etc etc. A lot of stuff takes weeks to arrive and draining loops can be tiresome

>>103250624
There is no reason to buy SATA since NVME cost the same and have much better performance. What you should look at is your motherboard manual and see if it does lane splitting. If you have no idea what that is just post the model name here and hope some anon checks it out and gives you info

Thanks for the responses.

I was under the impression that many games needed to be installed on the C drive in order to work properly and that other programs and such also run on the assumption of being on that drive. Is that just a misunderstanding on my part and moving Steam to another drive wouldn't cause any issues of that nature?

It is a gaming PC, and I need an SSD rather than a SATA because I have multiple games that require an SSD. How would I check whether or not I have a spare M.2 slot?

>the main issue with watercooling is the upkeep. Every single time you upgrade CPU and GPU you will need new water blocks
You can just get new mounting hardware like any air cooler for most CPU blocks.
They also make quick disconnects so you can swap things without draining the loop.
GPU blocks are also quite cheap compared to what AIBs charge for a good cooler nowadays. You can build an ok loop for what Asus wants for a strix over MSRP, you can build a damn good loop for what they want for a matrix

Everything should work on all drives it's just that a lot of programs and games write stuff to the C: drive like save and config files etc etc

SATA is SSD just like NVME and there is nothing physically stopping you from launching anything on a 2006 HDD for example it would simply be unusable due to the loading times

Looks like your motherboard has 2 m2 slots and no lane splitting hence you can just add another NVME without issues
>>
>>103250753
>many games needed to be installed on the C drive in order to work properly
Might have been a thing in the distant past but I've personally had no problems running them off other drives. You'll want to keep the core Steam files on C: but Steam will let you designate other drives for game storage.

>programs also run on the assumption of being on that drive
Yes there will be some, but not many, programs that expect to be on C: but you should have ample space for them once you migrate your games to D:

>It is a gaming PC, and I need an SSD rather than a SATA
SATA is just the interface - you can buy SSDs that use it. Indeed, until recently they were the norm.
In any case, I believe your board has 2 M.2 slots so you can take your pick here. Though you don't need the best of the best like the other anon suggested.

As far as what to do, you need to install your new SSD per the instructions, activate it, then format it. Then you can use Steam to migrate your games over and install new ones on it.

There's no reason to buy that drive for a gaming PC. It won't make your games load faster.
If you were doing something that could benefit from its speed, i.e. huge file transfers, then you would want some sort of heatsink.

Several anons recommended a PowerColor Hellhound card when I asked about Radeon manufacturers a while ago, maybe check if they have those at a comparable price?
Otherwise Sapphire have a reputation for being the EVGA of AMD cards.

NTA yet the first slot is gen 4 and the second gen 3 so unless you want to upgrade the motherboard swap your existing drive to slot 2 and buy a new gen 4 drive for slot 1

Buying gen 5 will not improve anything since you will be limited by gen 4 speeds. There are plenty of guides online for buying SSDs and again the safe bet is a samsung 990 pro yet there are other brands with similar quality for cheaper

>>103250890
ASUS cards are usually 1 of the best especially their ROG series. With that being said why buy a card now? The 5000 series is coming out in January and you will be able to purchase a 4080 super at a decent discount or buy a newer AMD card

>>103250941
I was in the process of writing a semi-detailed response yet >>103250953 basically said what I was going to say anyway

NVME drives do not require heat sinks unless you use gen 5 yet again the cooler the better, around 50c is the sweet spot depending on the exact drive. There is no need for thermal paste and most motherboards should have plenty of heat sinks preinstalled hence there is no need to buy SSDs with OEM heat sinks

>>103250964
Thanks once again

>>103250971
NTA yet to be specific 99% of the stuff you use benefits most from random read speeds which have stagnated in SSDs anyway. A SATA is barely slower than a NVME in games yet in terms of copying files over from 1 drive to another the difference is huge yet BOTH drives need to have similar speeds to not be bottlenecked

Found the module. picrel. Only Hynix named. In this case the manufacturer, TEAM, reserves the right to use any type of Hynix chips. Whatever is left from production of other modules. If I remember correctly we had similar happening before with Samsung A- and B-die chips. There is no guarantee that this model comes with a particular type of Hynix chip. Rated at 6000CL30 they wouldn't need the very best chips anyway. What do you hope for by knowing the chip type? If you insist on the very best you need to get modules specced 6000CL28(Trident Z5 Royal Neo) or 8200CL38 (Patriot Viper XTREME) but I think this would be a waste of money. 6000CL30 is perfectly fine and you should rather get more capacity like 2x24GB.

They have the Hellhound as well but it has lower stock boost clocks than the other 2. The TUF is interesting to me because it has a huge 4 slot cooler and it normally would be $150+ more than the cheaper cards but is on sale right now. I am just afraid of ASUS considering all the recent RMA drama.

I don't have a gaming PC yet and I am going to have less time next year so I want to enjoy it now. I won't be too shaken up if I overpay by a couple hundred bucks vs waiting. Additionally, I want AMD for the linux support and their next gen cards may not even be much if any better than the 7900xtx. Plus last gen cards mean more stable drivers.

Curiosity and they're incredibly cheap right now in EU with the Ali sales (ordered a kit for 69€), so if they're A-die it's a crazy good deal.

So the listings on Amazon for example that say with heatsink aren't really necessary strictly speaking?

>the first slot is gen 4 and the second gen 3 so unless you want to upgrade the motherboard swap your existing drive to slot 2 and buy a new gen 4 drive for slot 1
Checking online I found "M2P_CPU slot should be PCIe Gen 4 Type 22110" and "the M2A_SB will be PCIe Gen 3 Type 2280". It looks like my current NVMe is installed in the M2A_SB slot. So I'd just need to make sure the gen 4 NVMe I buy is specifically Type 22110 and I should be fine right?

Would I need anything other than a screwdriver to install a new NVMe?

Thanks again for all the help anons.

>>103251183
No the heat sinks are just a gimmick most dudes take off because they are incompatible with heat sinks integrated into motherboards

The exact type does not really matter since a gen is a gen. There should be zero compatibility issues

And aside from a screw nope. No worries btw and if you have more questions feel free to ask
>>
>>103251183
Anon, just to make this crystal clear, the performance difference in gaming and general use between SATA, PCIe 3, PCIe 4, and PCIe 5 is not perceptible. Also PCIe is cross-compatible. A Gen4 drive will work in a Gen3 slot and vice-versa. You don't need to worry about that stuff. Buy it, install it, format it, migrate SteamApps.

>Would I need anything other than a screwdriver
No.

>can I buy an NVMe that is lower in number than Type 22110
Yes. That's just the max length. Most drives are 2280 i.e. 80mm long.
>>
>>103251176
> Definitely has both XMP and EXPO, pic related is a Thaiphoon screen from reviews.
Strange. These might not be the same modules that ASrock tested. Or Asrock just did a terribly sloppy job by not noting the presence of the profiles in their QVL. I suspect that manufacturers of motherboards are given memory to test that may not be identical with the final production units. But it could be a mistake on anyone's side here. You will soon know.
>>
>>103251269
NTA yet make sure to not format your drive as microsoft storage device. Tons of compatibility issues

Use the manage disks tool instead of the control panel

And yeah the difference in games between SSD types and generations is very small. Basically a few milliseconds

Samsung is matte, has smart tv annoyances, silver border

Any 64GB or even more so 96GB 6000CL28 kit would be exotic and rather expensive. There is no reason to seethe as the difference in performance is marginal at best. I will buy a "reasonably" priced 2x48GB 6000CL30 kit and if ever necessary upgrade with another identical 2x48GB kit. If you choose to get more than 2x24GB you will get DS modules anyway and 8000+ MHz is beyond reach. In this case you can go directly 2x48 instead of 2x32 because the latter won't clock any higher but is not as upgradable and won't last as long capacity wise, requiring 4x DIMM earlier with all implied issues.
>>
>>103251506
>people have been complaining about it so long
it's just because of the mystique around it, people fear it might have some underlying unseen issue because no one knows too much about it.
none of the relevant display reviewers were able to figure out any difference between DSC monitors and uncompressed ones, it literally doesn't matter.
>it must be monitor dependant
it has nothing to do with any other issues a monitor might have and nothing points towards it, you're just making up stuff
blackout issues are mostly because of saturated DP/HDMI bandwidth or poor quality 2.1 cables, rarely an actual monitor issue. and that could happen to any monitor OLED or not.
>Have you used it in comparison or are you just quoting online people?
both the C1 and C2 I have exhibit this tint. it's a known WOLED issue.

>Can't you calibrate it, is it panel variance?
you can't calibrate for it because it's angle-dependent and it might be worse depending on panel variance, no idea.

they're all the same, pick the cheapest and be happy
