Here's a dumb one
Is there any formula to track "today", "yesterday" and "tomorrow" in google sheets
I have a column of dates and if the date is today, it's highlighted bright red, if it's passed it's highlighted a duller red and if it's not yet it's default colour

What is the use case of these M.2 TPU accelerator things? I understand a GPU can be an accelerator for AI stuff, and then you have stuff like the Xeon Phi which is a coprocessor which is like an accelerator but different and works in a VM environment... I'm struggling to figure out what this little guy is for. Clearly it's not running an entire LLM or anything.

Does anyone know if you can daisy chain ARGB fans, my mobo only has 1 port, and I got 6 fans which have male female prongs. I'd rather not buy a dumb hub controller, but if it'll kill my mobo I won't do it. Also it appears I can daisy chain the power too, but that doesn't sound great.

siri / alexa locally? Download and reply sound very difficult to implement; AND especially if you want it to know what you're looking at.

>>103253933
I don't think it's worth it for you, mostly because of integration with usable software. If you look around you can see it can be used for AI image processing, mostly recognition. And most importantly to accelerate your TensorFlow training. However if you have a newer cpu you probably have an NPU which is basically the same thing, except more powerful (~40 TOPs vs Coral 4 TOPs)

My windows 10 laptop often randomly restarts. I THINK it had something to do with automatic restarts for updates, but often even after restarting it claims I still have updates paused till a later date anyways, so I'm not sure that's the cause

Sometimes it's an actual "restart" where out of nowhere windows tells me that it's restarting and then tries to apply/check for updates, sometimes the screen just cuts to black and it reboots, sometimes the screen just goes black but nothing happens and I have to force restart

Is there any way to troubleshoot what's going on? A "restarting..." screen instance just happened and I just exported as may of the Windows Event viewer logs as I could from the past 24 hours, but where/how/who do I do or go to to figure out what happened from those logs?

Thinking about it, the Windows 11 laptop I have also randomly restarts, but there it's usually a bluescreen "woops, something happened" error screen and I assume it's just a crash from me having too much shit running since it only has 16gb of RAM and it's constantly at 99-100% memory usage.

I have a ThinkCentre Tiny M72e that stopped outputting any video via DP after a bios update and reboot. I cleared CMOS and still nothing. It has VGA output too, is it worth stopping at the thrift store for an old monitor + cable to test if it can output video? It's going to run headless anyway so I don't care about whether the DP actually works, I just need to set it up.

My computer needs new ram. What is a good price to buy 2 16 GB DDR4 RAM for my DELL XPS 8910. It acts as a workstation. I previously had a 16GB 2Rx8 pc4-2133p.It barely works since I've abused this stick for 8 years now and it takes 2 minutes to load my desktop. I am running Linux Mint and Brave and want to run Jupyter Notebook for univeristy. Why am I unable to get Jupyter launching in Brave by default? I generated and changed the jupyter_notebook_config.py file to have:

 c.NotebookApp.browser = '/usr/bin/brave-browser-stable'

To no success. The only thing i've had luck with is manually going to my localhost in brave after already opening it in firefox.

I have seen some people add a u infront of the config and others adding a %s, neither makes a difference.

I use AOL for email (yes, really) and a while back it redid it's formatting for sending emails and for whatever asinine reason limited the amount of text color and highlight colors you can pick to a bunch of dull hues and shades

However, you can still copy-paste older colored or highlighted text from older emails into new ones and it works fine, and then type out new text next to it in those older brighter colors

Is there an extension that would let me just apply those colors without going through older emails to find the exact colors I want?

if there's anything I can do in inspect elements or can find in the page source or whatever that would help you anons tell what kind of color formatting it uses to find me the right extension, let me know and I'll do it

>have you considered that maybe it's not related to your gpu/3d subsystem, and rather it's something else blowing up, which simply has a side-effect of corrupted textures/animation?
>like maybe marginal ram
That's what all I'm thinking about. It's definitely not lack of RAM and I tried forcing all kinds of settings through Nvidia control panel to no avail.
My hunch is on Windows messing up the language / character conversion, but it's a Unity game, so Unity is supposed to handle that.

>one tool i know of which can change what gpu is reported to a game is dgvoodoo, though it's more for older games
Great idea, but I couldn't make it affect the game in any way, which is weird. I do have another PC, but not ready access to it, so the best I can do for now is changing around system variables and see if something makes a difference.

It depends where they're coming from, but basically a lot of very common stuff that are very easy in other languages are surprisingly difficult in Rust until you throw away the entire purpose of the language and wrap everything in unsafe block.

What that other guy said, plus the organization maintaining the thing is full of religious jerks who will, at best, refuse to talk to you if you show signs of not believing whatever they do about society and the human condition. It's also highly dependent on their repository for "crates" which they'll kick your software off of if they catch you holding the wrong opinions.
Oh and it at least used to be the case that compiling the compiler required compiling all previous versions of the compiler, don't know if they've fixed that yet.

the first guy is correct but to elaborate they alternate which bank the slots go to, so 1-2-1-2 (or reversed, doesn't really matter), so you want to put your matched sets on the same banks for the best performance. that's why they tend to be different alternating colors, especially in the pre "every single mobo is black on black on black" era.

My new (used) HP pavillion gaming desktop tg01-2260 when powered on has lights and the fans are going, but no signal to monitor and the keyboard backlights don't light up either (have tried all usbs)

No beeps of any kind from the mobo. If I remove the ram sticks, it does the expected error beeps from having no ram.

- I've removed the gpu and now using the motherboard hdmi [no difference]
- I've reduced ram sticks to 1 and tried different sockets [no difference]
- I've tried a different m.2 drive [no difference]
- and no m.2 at all [no difference]
- I removed the cmos battery for 10+ minutes [no difference]

Still same. No signal to monitor. Just lights and fans. Only difference in behavior is when there's no ram at all (error beeps).

No they aren't sir. EFI system partition *can contain* very specific CSV files that makes the firmware to create entries based on it. Debian and Fedora Linux have this but it's not set in stone. Also worth mentioning Windows doesn't do it.

I am going to be sharing internet with my workplace, and as such I rented a VPS and stood up a vpn tunnel so all my traffic goes into the tunnel and comes out the VPS instead of through my work for obvious fucking reasons.
But 4channel is permanently blocked because its a VPS and of course it would be blocked.
Is my only option to buy a pass to post? If I do buy a pass, am I breaking the rules by using it over a vpn or is it allowed? the pass FAQ says nothing about vpns but somewhere else it says vpns are not allowed.

I don't know what the fuck I'm doing or what to look for though. I also just found out routers/modems can come preinstalled with VPN which I didn't know about either. All I know right now is:

>would like pre-flashed VPN that's easy to set up (manly for torrenting)

Do you still need to pay a subscription for pre-installed VPN though? If so then I probably won't consider it. Also I read that you should ideally keep your modem and router separate and not use a modem with wireless but I don't know why. Please explain it to me like I'm retarded and give me recommendations on what to buy if possible, thanks.

It will depend on what you are upgrading
If you are changing GPU brands you will need to clear the drivers otherwise it mostly work

I'm just upgrading my GPU and CPU. 1080 -> 4070tiS and 2600x -> 5700x3D. BIOS upgrade needed because mobo is old enough to not support the 5700x3D out of box.

Which of the hardware options below should I get, for a decent beginner-level home server? (use cases below)
>multiple Raspberry Pi in a rackmount
>single Intel NUC
>Synology or Qnap NAS

At the moment I only have a single Raspberry Pi 3 B+ running FreePBX as a house intercom system. I do not have any "old laptops lying around", the rack cabinet we got isn't deep enough for a Dell server, and standing servers aren't an option at this point either.

Use cases we're trying to implement soon:
>centralized server for FreePBX
>Ubiquiti Network Controller
>Plex or Kodi, possibly the latter
>shared network folder, possibly with Samba(?)
>some kind of NVR for 3 cameras, not yet decided to either go with Hikvision or keep consooming from the Ubiquiti ecosystem
>something can accommodate a PoE doorbell
>>
>>103272130
Every time I am building something that will work 24/7 I think of the electricity bill and go with the lowest energy consumption solution. Think multiple raspberry pi has a lower consumption than the other two
In plex/kodi case, raspberry pi is a bit shitty for it, especially if you want something more fancy like x265 transcoding, the rest the Pi can do fine

Nah they might get more expensive as demand drops but I expect SATA will continue to have support for a long ass time. As the other anon said I would use more than 4 for extra redundancy without losing storage, you can get PCI cards that add more SATA slots (or m.2 slots if you want to go that route)

Performance won't be as good as if you had a modern mobo with built in m.2 slots, but I expect you already know that and depending on your use case you might not notice the difference

If i'm wanting to update my laptop's GPU drivers do I want to be downloading shit from here

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
or here
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

Even when I fill out the drop downs in the way which fits my laptop model for both, it gives me different drivers to download

ALso, do I really need to use DDU or whatever to uninstall my current driver before installing a new one? Will the laptop's display and GPU even work without a drive installed as i'm doing that? (For context I am trying to install/update the laptop driver because I'm randomly getting blue screen of death crashes with a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR error code)

the normal troubleshooting steps for everything is:
>install drivers
>if still bad, reinstall OS
>do a stress test and check temperatures, notice if anything insane

If it does NOT then it's software issue.

There's also the Broca's area, a dedicated language center in the human brain, so we know that natural language processing while clearly a portion of a person's intelligence is a largely separated part from the rest of it. g305 is great and cheap enough that you can just replace when it fails. ive used a lot of mice and worked in a pc shop, and they all fail around the same frequency though razer seemed to be the worst. so my advice is buy cheap and just replace it, because mice are not quality at all.

I've been wanting to do animations where there's a base body on the first layer, and pupil movements and lip sync happens on the upper layers (no proper "animation" besides simple transforms and rotations; the lipsync is just quickly switching from one viseme to another).

I experimented with this animation style in Hitfilm Express, when I used to use it, and it worked pretty well, but all of those projects never saw fruition and are now gone. I dropped HFE because of the gay licensing shit, and I learned that the Express version doesn't even exist anymore, and the company that owns Hitfilm is becoming more and more Jewish, so I installed Kdenlive yesterday to try it out again.

Except apparently, composite shots in Kdenlive work totally differently from Hitfilm - you can't just drag images on top of on another and expect them to just layer on top of one another perfectly, and size and ratio each image manually when the layer is highlighted; you have to add some weird "Composite and Transform" effect, which, from what I can tell, only parents two layers together, and one layer can't parent multiple others. The animation style I'm going for totally breaks. I think lipsync would be a total nightmare as well, with multiple images flickering by for only a few frames, and I have to manually "composite and transform" each one individually.

Is there a free or one-time-purchase video editing software that composites images like Hitfilm? I'm losing my goddamn mind here.

Can unbranded chinkshit laptops be trusted?

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop, but don't want to spend a lot. In particular, I want to get one with a better processor. If I look on Amazon, the cheapest new laptop with an i9 processor is ~£900, and the cheapest with an i7 processor is ~£500. But if I go on AliExpress, I can find an i9 one for ~£250 and an i7 one for ~£170 (examples below). They're unbranded, but seem to have 5-star reviews and offer warranty.

You can read the docs and startup scripts for your own distro to understand the process flow. These things are always changing, and there's not much reason for end users to understand how they work.
>is it safe to say it's kinda like windows 3.1 shell running on top of DOS?
Kind of but not really. The GUI is just another process that uses graphical output. It's not like DOS where the OS doesn't have task switching without Windows.
