Kind of off topic but any recommendation for a fairly cheap dock/hub to pair with a Chuwi Minibook X? It's a $350 laptop so I'm thinking $40-50 is a fair budget for a dock, need HDMI, Ethernet, 3+ USB-A ports, audio output would be nice.

>>103300804so you could probably get B650 >>103300805why do you need PCIe Gen 5?
Release the 8800XT and 5070 already, fuck CES
>>103300819>why do you need PCIe Gen 5?non-zero chance that future GPUs in the lifespan of my build could make use of it in some wayconsidering I'm not doing a budget build by any means it doesn't make sense for me to skimp out on this.
I have a hard time deciding between these two panels /g/:https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-g2724d-vs-aoc-q27g3xmn/41041/41611?threshold=0.1 They cost respectively 218€ and 283€ here. On one side, I wonder how real hdr looks like, but it's on a VA panel, and the vrr is dogshit according to reviews, on the other side I wonder if hdr and the other benefits of that AOC can be used for general purposes. Almost every site puts those 2 monitors in the "good budget" category.
>>103300839>non-zero chance that future GPUs in the lifespan of my build could make use of it in some wayUnless we see a huge performance uplift in the 90-series or you're buying poorfag 60 series cards with x8 lanes I really doubt it. Maybe if you're going to get the 8090 in 6 years you'll max out PCIe 4 but surely in 6 years you'd be able to justify an upgrade to AM6 anyway.
Lads, is this it ? Buy GPU now or never cause muh tariffs ? I use a 3060 TI for 1440p and i'm feeling the 8gbs of vram. I used to own a 970 and it lasted me 5 years, almost 6. What the fuck do i buy that lasts me 5 years at 1440p high and transitions to medium in it's last 1 to 2 years.I live in Romania by the way but at this point markets are so globalized it doesn't even matter unless you live in Bangladesh or Argentina.
>>1033008524070Ti Super or 7900XT
>>103300685Who makes these boards >PSUs 80 plus gold recommended It doesn't matter a PSU can be 80 plus and still be c tier
>>103300851even then, isn't the price difference between boards with and without PCIE 5 like 30€ at most? all motherboards that have the features I want and capable enough VRMs for the future have PCIE5 anyways, so it's not really something to think about
>>103300852I would at least wait to see what 5000 series offers. It should release so early into Drumpf presidency that GOP will not have time to create the tariffs yet. Anticipation of the tariffs affecting retailers may also motivate Nvidia to lower the MSRP of the 5000 series.
>lancool 207 replaced 216 in OPIs it really better? I bought 216 last week for $100 but haven't done my build yet, could swap it out
>>103300818you're forgetting the fact the GCD is on N5 instead of the N7 of Navi 21.an equivalent GCD using N7 would be 874mm2that uplift is coming from the node advantage.
I would ask /hsg/ but they seem to have disappeared for the moment. is a lowly gt710 (kepler 2.0 version) good enough for transcoding muh aminays, or should I get an arc a3x0? it's all 1080p or less and I will basically never have more than one stream going at a time, so I don't need a full retard $600 space heater like a 3080 or something.
>>103300871nta but aside from PCIe5 (which, as mentioned, you won't need as a consumer) your requirements are satisfied by a €150 LiveMixer. Not to say that you should buy it; only that you're overthinking this. It's fine to overspec the board if you've got cash left in the budget - you never know what'll come up - but you should understand you're paying for speculation and not pressing need.
5070ti means 4080 tier so nvidia is saying anyone with a 7900xtx, 8800xt, or better is a high end pro card
I'm struggling between the choice of IPS and OLED. Of course there'd be like a 500 dollar difference between these two options as well but should I just rule out OLED if I want to use the monitor for desktop usage? They're all bad at rendering text so it feels stupid to spend money on one for that
is there something like the asus proart PA279CRV (4k, 27inches) but with 120hz or more?
>>103300942>I can 100% confirmHow? You're not Mr.Nvidia. The best you could do is 99%. Even then there might be circumstances where the announcement at CES would not happen for some reason.
>>103300943>They're all bad at rendering textThis is such bullshit these days... We're still stuck with myths about panels from 4 years ago. If money is an issue, rule out OLED, simple as, otherwise it's the least shit option to pick from current display market.
>>103300919Depends on the codec(s) you use. A GPU that old likely lacks the hardware to encode modern formats. Or it has it but, due to lack of software support, is horribly inefficient. Ran in to that problem on my old HD3000.I suppose if you already own it the easy answer is to just try it out. If it works, great. If not, A380s are available with next day delivery.OTOH if you're building fresh I'd probably go for something more recent from the get-go. Depending on the platform it might even be cheaper to buy a used CPU with a modern IGP.
>>103300965money is not an issue but I don't want to spend more than $999 on a monitor
>>103300987most OLED monitors and TVs that are more than decent enough can be had for under 900 eur
>>103300965>>103300991https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/gigabyte/aorus-fo27q3This is one I was looking at, 1440p OLED and everything sounds amazing about it except for the text clarity
>>103300965woleds have a 4th sub pixel so the text issue is valid as text assumes rgb. its less of a issue on qd-oled.
>>103300999>QD-OLED looks purple in bright roomsWelp. I never play in dark rooms because having a bright monitor in my fucking face and total darkness around me gives me a headache, so I guess not for me.

I need to upgrade my computer, currently running a 10 year old rig with a RTX 1060. Should I just wait for the 50XX series or do an upgrade now?It would be something like this that's around $2100, don't think you can get it much cheaper here in Sweden.
>>103300940I know I'm overthinking this a lot. nothing is available to me right now so that's all I have to cope for in the meantimeguess I'll just buy whatever comes in stock first, B650/X870 SL or Nova
>>103300863That's why there is a PSU buying guide included. There are too many PSU wattages, regions, and price and availability differences to include a list of PSU's. For instance, the Cooler Master V750 Gold i 750 W, one of the best 750W PSU's, is not available in the United States. Also, tip, Corsair RMx 2024 line came out, so that is a safe bet if you want a good PSU.
Reposting from last thread, with a couple questions:>could i get away with swapping the 7800X3D with a 7950X3D whilst using an air cooler?>would this be the best for 1080p or 1440p?
>>1033010285070 should be better than the 4070ti apparently. it might be worth doing the rest of the build and just using your 1060 until the 50-series is out
>>103301028Given that the 5000 series is probably less than 3 months away, you could probably stand to wait. That said, aren't they launching the 5070 first? it definitely won't be below 8190kr at launch. You could buy everything you have in your kassa and wait for the gpu
>>103301055>could i get away with swapping the 7800X3D with a 7950X3D whilst using an air cooler?probably>would this be the best for 1080p or 1440p?1440pif you're going to be exclusively gaming then I would say stick with the 7800X3D unless somehow the 7950 is cheaper

>>103300900>Is it really better?Fair question. Yes, it is better. The 207 has roughly 5C lower CPU and GPU temps compared to the 216 in gaming workloads.Techpowerup review: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/lian-li-lancool-207/8.htmlGamersNexus review: https://gamersnexus.net/cases/lian-li-lancool-207-airflow-case-review-cable-management-build-quality-benchmarksGamers Nexus recommends using a 150mm deep PSU, but that is bs, as people can fit 160mm deep PSU's just fine.https://old.reddit.com/r/Corsair/comments/1fy3xfy/corsair_rm850x_atx_v31_and_lian_li_lancool_207/The main reason for removing the 216 is stock and price issues. No point in keeping it in the OP when stocks are going to dry up and prices will increase.
>>103301088Well they got delayed, and another delay seems unlikely, meaning a Q1 release date is pretty likely at this point. I believe 4060 was slower than the 3070. But you're buying a 9800X3D, literally the best gaming cpu you can buy, seems kind of stupid to pay 6500kr for that and then cheap out on gpu? Just get a cheaper CPU and the 5070, you'll notice a much bigger improvement in gaming that way.
I've been getting random reboots and crashes and I narrowed it down to either the CPU or motherboard, really can't know which so I ordered both. If, for example, the CPU is bad and I try it in the new motherboard (if it arrives first), can it damage it in any way?
>>103300733Your RAM glows.
>>103301124Yeah I suppose that the best option is to just wait for the new series. Just feels a bit tempting buying a PC now during black friday even if it's not that much cheaper.

>>103301147Anything is possible with defective hardware. A dead short between two pins could easily kill a mobo. It's pretty unlikely though especially given that your PC boots and runs somewhat - a "hardware killing" issue will usually do just that the first time around.

>>103300983the 600 series is supposed to be the oldest gen to support nvenc, so I should be gtg with my 710 especially since it's like 5 years old not an original release so it should have a new enough feature set to be able to do at least the basics like h264 (as you may know the 710 is THE most rebranded/rereleased gpu in history, no exaggeration) but I suppose I'll have to do my research to figure that out for sure.I wasn't planning on doing a new build, I mean I would like to, but just too expensive for me to justify it considering this is just a file server I'm adding jellyfin to. but I was considering doing a 11/12 gen intel build because it would be cheaper and for the integrated quicksync to make things easier, but 14nm+++++ burns too much power even on the low end and I know how stingy Intel is with lanes on the low end too so idfk.I wonder that if I do end up going with an arc, it'll be worth it to spend a bit more and get an a770 considering that while it is 3x more than a a380, it's tdp is only 75w vs 50 for the 300s and it has triple the vram and way more powerful.

>>103302809That doesn't exactly answer my question. I'm guessing that I will be able to preorder the 5090 depending on the store, but due to manufacturing shortages and high demand I will be placed on a queue and have to wait potentially weeks or months for me to finally get it?
If anything lights inside your case your fucking gay
Bought a Samsung SSD from Amazon and I can't tell if it's legit. The packaging is sealed but is also kinda worn and doesn't look new.Is there any way I can check if this shit is legit with a serial number or something?
>>103302868Yeah, that's the gist of it. Any estimates or even guarantees mean fuckall in this bitch of a market.
>>103301101I don't know what that is in real money but a 4080 build for $3,000+ is insane. You can comfortably get a 4090 at that budget. Looks like a FE 4080 no less.
>>103302651I know the draw of ptm is that it doesn't dry out and is good basically forever, but is it any worse thermally than non liquid metal common pastes for non oc'd out the bunghole applications? is there like a max heat vs coverage area chart out there?
>>103302391they should really stop scamming people with this man300 nits on an IPS panel with a no local dimming? honestly its just making people think HDR is non-sense (I actually did until I learned more about it and saw real HDR with my phone)
>>103302880Alright. I'm fine with waiting months for my turn as long as I can preorder it. Seems way better than the stress of having to keep track of stock or paying several hundred dollaroos in premium to scalpers.
>>103302898>honestly its just making people think HDR is non-senseYep, all people who shit on HDR are people who never even experienced it.Proper HDR and VRR should be de-facto nowadays.
I don't even know why I'm stressing about any of this.I play like two modern games a year, and spend the rest of my time on things I could run on an old laptop
>>103302894I mean it's a good deal when compared to other builds. You're literally paying for the service of having someone build it, ship it, and handle returns if anything is fucked up. That build would cost €5000 if it was from a high street store.
>>103302532QDEL (Quantum Dot Emissive Lighting) will likely replace OLED soon, it's literally OLED without ORGANIC and it's very cheaply scalable and could be easily be manufactured with existing LED pipelines just modified by a nit. Their demos last CES 2024 looks fucking great. They said it'll be ready in 2-3 years for the TV market but probably earlier for phones, laptops, and monitors.
>>103302917I reckon you get enjoyment just from building it and watching it run.
>>103302684I wish that attitude was shared with actual PCIe slots, which can also do M.2 plus more.I'm not jaded, I promise.
>>103302925> paying for the service of having someone build it,Imagine paying this high of an idiot tax> ship you have to pay for someone ship your parts anyway.
>>103302565The open beta test was atrocious and insanely CPU bound for no reason,You will 100% need to run FSR to 1080p because that shit is not gonna run at all well at natively 1080p on that hardware but not because the spec are too shit for that game, it's Crapcom selling a Pajeet core coded game for $70Just play World, Wild is not going to have the same success
>>103302944Building is a lot of fun. I do like optimizing things
>>103302898>HDR is non-senseit kinda is with how bad it's implemented in games, there are like 3 good ones and some (like cp2077) still need RenoDX to work properly.still haven't seen a single game using actual wider color gamut, it's almost 99% within bt.709 (SDR essentially)the only good thing with HDR are dark scenes with small highlights, anything else and your monitor won't be able to display it due to ABL and other tech limitation
>>103302959I knew you were gonna stop reading there and post that exact comment. Autistic people are so predictable.

Think there will be any sub $200 cpus black friday worth upgrading from an amd 5 5600 x? Last parts that need an upgrade are my cpu and motherboard, been holding out but don't feel like spending a fuck load.

>>103302977Works perfectly on PS5 and Xbox One X/S out of the box. If you have a Nvidia GPU, any game that supports HDR on PC works fine and even older games benefit with AutoHDR on Windows 11.>till need RenoDX to work properly.No.
>>103303023Probably no hotter than glass as glass panels add 5 degrees according to GN

Irishanon here.Currently running a Ryzen 5 2600, RX 570 8GB and 16GB 3200 MHz CL16 RAM, on a B450 TOMAHAWK MAX motherboard. I honestly don't play many demanding titles, and besides playing Fortnite and other similar multiplayer games, I only plan to upgrade my system in order to play Dead Space (2023) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The Ryzen 5 5600 is currently at a Black Friday price of £79.18 from Amazon UK (low enough Irish people like me don't pay custom fees), is it a good enough upgrade to at least get better frames in Fortnite and give me a decent CPU for the demanding single player titles once I upgrade the GPU sometime in 2025? Could it even help get 30fps minimum for the Dead Space and S.T.A.L.K.E.R., despite the RX 570?
>>103303027the fact that you even mention AutoHDR shows that you have no idea what is "good HDR" beyond "bright = good"
I'm not convinced the performance gain of an X3D card is worth the up to $200 premium on it compared to other cards? The benchmarks I'm seeing for intensive games in YouTube videos makes it seem like the difference can be like 12 frames at most basically? Do I really want to pay $18 per frame when it's already going past 120 with frame gen?
>>103302629No 10G network for that price is kindof a letdown on such an expensive board.

>>103303069It doesn't always work well but when it does, it does good. I mainly play on PS5 Pro behind a LG C4 anyways, you can't get better HDR in games than that.
>>103303086but then you could get rid of your fake vaseline smeared frames in favor of crispy and sharp real ones
RAM compatibilty is a thing now?I bought a microcenter bundle and they graciously let me swap out the CL36 for CL30 sticks. After building my system, when powering on there's no POST, blank screen and the dram LED is orange, and supposedly only certain RAM sticks are compatible I'm reading?
>>103302896
I have the Peerless Assassin cooler for a AM5.How tight am I supposed to tighten this thing? I've heard that too tight or too loose is a big problem, and might be why my build isn't booting at all.
>>103304348if it refuses to post you might have bigger problemseven if your cooler were inadequately seated your CPU would at least boot until it throttles and automatically shuts off
>>103304424I see. Multiple forum posts seem to say that if you have a RAM light issue it might be because you tightened your cpu cooler too tightly. I don't know if that could actually be it or if its just one of those timewasting things nerds blurt out for you to go and try.

>AVOID: Intel 13/14 serieswhy ? I planned to buy one of these to pair with a 4070 super / ti super
>>103304820Thats just normal ddr5 things? To test each stick individually in each slot and get it to work that way? I know apparently DDR5 needs to test the ram or something for awhile before its ready. I didnt know it helps to do it one stick at a time
!?!Wtf I do? I've been fucking with these ram sticks all day. Should I enable fTPM?
Should I enable TPM? Does it give any advantage? I don't plan on using win11, stucking with win10.
