>>103302925We know the price for labor and how long it takes techs to build and test a PC. Even if you bill labor at something ridiculous like €150/hr it would still only be a €300 premium on top of the parts. €5000 would mean a premium of about €2000-3000 on top of the parts. This is simply ridiculous.
I'm not convinced the performance gain of an X3D card is worth the up to $200 premium on it compared to other cards? The benchmarks I'm seeing for intensive games in YouTube videos makes it seem like the difference can be like 12 frames at most basically? Do I really want to pay $18 per frame when it's already going past 120 with frame gen ?
>>103303027Both RTX HDR and AutoHDR will never be good options until they're actually able to differentiate the game render from the UI. It's particularly jarring in games that have white UIs.

>>103303170A Ryzen 7600 or 12700KF can work with a 4080 Super just fine in most AAA games. A X3D chip is worth it if you play CPU intensive games like Factorio, Baldur's Gate 3, Path of Exile, etc.If you tell us your budget we can help you pick a CPU that fits your needs and budget, but you neglected to do that.

>>103303234>enabling wide color gamut in games that dont have a wide color gamutIt doesn't do that unless you boost saturation, it does inverse tone mapping (SDR->HDR conversion) but colors stay mostly within the sRGB range (so bt.709).If you're curious you can install Lilium's HDR analysis with Reshade, it'll read the HDR PQ data from the game in real time.>>103303271>HDR doesn't do that in HDR gamesHDR does exactly that in HDR games. The UI shaders are separated from the render to make it possible for you to control the brightness of both. You would never want a game's UI to be as bright as the game render, usually it's at your paperwhite reference brightness (ideally 100nits or 203nits if you're in a brighter room).

>>103303313Mostly just minor optimizations for "surveillance" use i.e. constant writing and infrequent reading. Probably what gets them the higher write speed (if it even holds up in real world use). I have read that they don't check integrity as often, since video artefacts on CCTV are nbd, but there's little hard data on the matter. As far as reliability goes, you, as a consumer, don't have enough combined-use-hours to tease out the differences. Plus you (hopefully) have RAID to obviate the problem. With price equality just buy the one indicated by the manufacturer - IronWolf for NAS, SkyHawk for CCTV. For a small NAS where price per drive is less significant you'd be fine paying a little premium for dedicated NAS drives. If you're building a big one, say 50TB+, and the SkyHawks are noticeably cheaper then go for them. Also don't discount other manufacturers. Your data integrity is solved by proper RAID setup not by 2% differences in AFR.

There's workarounds, of course, but they feel a bit hacky for a home server. Not the end of the world, mind you, and maybe justified if your server is going to grow into more than a basic NAS.>There are some off brand hdd for like 10 to 15bux for 1 to 2tb and stuff>There are only 2 manufacturers right? There's three main ones: WD, Toshiba, and Seagate. The LCD one is expensive. Noctua's also within my consideration, but like the Lian Li, it's also expensive. But since it's an optimized fan for noise-normalized performance and airflow, it's still a good contender. It's just the price is so high. Hi /pcbg/, I’m building my first pc for Christmas and am looking for 2 SSDs, one 256gb for my local drive and one 1TB for the drive that will be designated for my program files (such as game, applications, etc). I’d want to choose a brand that is well known and trustworthy, and is also more affordable. I’ve heard that crucial is a good choice, but it seems like their lowest size is 500gb only. So any recs for brands that have both 256gb and 1TB available is appreciated Country: US Budget: no more than $70 for the 1TB SSD (after looking at Amazon it seems like most 1TB SSDs are around $60 right now)Thanks
>>103304814I've watched this review as well of the Noctua G2 fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5LSGuSRg9ASkip to 20:00.The title basically sums it up. It's optimized for all types of situations. Case fans, radiators. It'll do the job. However, it's not a fan that can brute force its way up to the charts.Since I'm looking for pure performance, I'll go with Arctic. I do like Noctua's customer support, though. One of my NH-D15 fans developed a grinding sound. Noctua told me they'll send me a replacement for free, but I have to render the defective fan unusable. So I went and smashed it with a hammer, recorded it and sent it to Noctua, and then they gave me my free replacement fan. They even gave me free clips for my NH-D15 when I asked for additional ones because I wanted to attach a third fan to it.

The 5700X3D is not the same chip as the 5700X.The 3050 is a trap, the 6gb card is 60% slower than the RX6600 which is usually only $20 more expensive than the $170 3050 6GB.The 3050 8gb is 20% slower than the RX6600 and $200, the RX6650XT is $230 and 4060 tier.

Can someone explain GPU pricing to me?I went on PCPartsPicker and was looking at the 4080 (because the 4090 melts connectors). A genuine NVidia 4080 costs $1800 ("founders edition"). OR, I can buy an MSI/Gigabyte/ASUS/Zotac/RandomShit branded 4080 for typically $1100-$1300.Look, I understand that NVidia makes all of them, but what do the others remove/delete/fuckup in order to make them "worth" $600 less than the original manufacturer? Is it actually worthwhile buying the NVidia, or will any 4080 perform roughly the same?Note, I'll be waiting for the 50xx series to come out in January, hoping to get one with 32GB because I want to do bigger AI image generation. I'm just trying to get some understanding for WTF the pricing is so weird. Not my pic, BTW.
>>103306420What a beautiful image, who painted it?
>>103306420Founders edition stays at msrp price, the other branded ones get price drops with demand and the price fell a lot from launch because the 5000 series releases soon

New PC Build (hoping to be done by Feb):>9800x3d>7900XTX>64GB Ram>x870e mobo>XL North case (mesh)Current Build:>10900k>6900XT>64gb ram>Aorus SFF mobo (forget which one)>NR200pIs there ANY reason to not do this build? I know some people will say wait for X upgrade/new version but I don't know what's going to happen with prices and I don't want to wait and then something happens and I'm like "Damn, I should have upgraded/got parts when I had the chance" I also know stock is nonexistent on some pieces but if I can at least get MOST of the build in hand then I can justify working out getting the final part(s) I need for the build.

>>103306478they bought into the marketing they were fed by Nvidia.
>>103304806I listened to and you went with 1440p. Part of me thinks the 4k was the better buy given they were in the same price range but my GPU is just not strong enough. I would have had to use DLSS performance at 4k and Amd's upscaling ain't as good as nvidias
>>103306476> Is there ANY reason to not do this build? How can you not decide something like this on your own?Do you have the money for it? Do you really want it? You must know this.
>>103306672I don't really follow tech since my PCs builds are usually good. I have the money and want it. I meant in the instance of like "The 9800x3d has a 75% failure rate in the environment you're going to have it in" or the 8000 series GPUs are expected to release later this year or some shit. I've done my research but unless you're crawling through forums there's sometimes issues you may not be aware of since fucking google these days is all AI shit and pay wall articles.
>>103306140I don't own one but I'd get one if I didn't already like how my m27q looks. That's finally cheap enough where if the monitor burned in after 6-8 years it wouldn't be the worst thing ever. I'd prefer oled to be dirt cheap IPS prices though because then it would be a no brainer.

>>103306804>3600meant 3200
>>103306420The FE is being scalped in your region, it doesn't justify that cost premium.NVIDIA's official board partners need to meet NVIDIA's card design and component requirements. The cards will perform about the same at stock settings, some of the higher-end third-party cards will run better & quieter with manual OC/UV.

Used mobo or new?I have a old Ryzen 1500x, and 4100, and busted my mobo and/or 4100 trying to swap heat sinks I think. In my country, the only new B450s available are the Biostars for ~$50 USD, the used Asus or Asrocks are like ~$90 USD. Which should I buy?I want to sell the old CPU but I wouldn't feel right doing it without at least a check boot so I want to at least get the system back up once.
