My motherboard only has two USB 2.0 connections on the board (not the I/O, I am talking about pin connections). I need a third one. Is there some way around this? A y-splitter of some kind, or an adaptor that goes through SATA or something?

I have 2x8GB DDR4, should I just buy the same set again to upgrade to 32GB or is that a bad idea
>>103311969It's probably fine if you're running a late DDR4 platform (c. Intel/AMD 400-series) at 3200 or below. Problem is it'll be difficult to get the "same set" not least because manufacturers like to swap ICs around in their cheapo kits.Personally I just bought a fresh kit and sold the old one. I'd recommend you do the same.

I have a msi b550 tomahawk. I was replacing my gpu and I noticed in the 2nd x16 slot (pcie 3) is pinned for x8 (pins half way up the slot, confirmed with an x8 sized card I have) even though the specs say it runs at x4 speed. does this make sense?
>>103312065no
>>103311952If your aim is 3.3ghz then just buy a ch341a and flash asscock's aqua vbios. this way you wont have to mess with evc which is much more annoying (altough it can achieve higher results).also dont even try it without decent cooling. ptm7950 and deshrounding is the minimum, otherwise the card will throttle. try to aim for ~2800mhz on memory with fast timings for best results and as far as gcd goes, that just depends on your luck and how low you can push the voltage.
>>103311989I'm seeing plenty of info online that it should just work, and it just seems kinda like a waste to buy a new 2x16gb kit for double the price of just buying the same kit again
>>103311914This would only be worth it if it would push you from like 50fps to 60ish. Ocing for 10 more fps from 120 is just fucking stupid. Limit it to 72fps and then use frame gen because that was what it was actually made for.

>>103312077that's what I figured. directly copied from the spec page on msi:>Expansion Slot>1x PCIe 4.0/ 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E1) [1]>1x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E3), supports x4 speed [2]>2x PCIe 3.0 x1 slots>[1] The supported specification depends on installed processor.>[2] When installing devices in M.2_2, PCI_E2 & PCI_E3 slots at the same time, PCI_E3 slot will be unavailable, and M2_2 slot only supports PCIe x2.so it basically only says that it runs at 4x and is unavailable if you populate too many slots. yet you can see very clearly even on their own pictures that indeed the second slot is wired for 8x. could it just be a mistake or bad translation? maybe something to do with back compat with pcie 1 and 2?
A nas around5600x + asrock b550m board with vrm heatsink (steel legend, pro4 or wifi se).vs7600 + msi b650m gaming wifi / b650m hdv?The cost of the 7600 is double the price of 5600. So it smart? I'm not sure. Should I even be building around am5? 5600(x) seems like a good chip with ecc. 7600 might be the cheapest chip with ecc. am5 might get more updates, but its still expensive. Which one would you choose anons? The problem with buying used is I have to find a way to sell the old gpu, ram, case and stuff.
>>103312267For a NAS? Get the cheapest, lowest power CPU possible. Network storage doesn't require a beefy CPU.
>>103312267I would get something like a 12100 for a NAS
>>103312087It's on a scale.Ideally you want:>Same ICs>Same capacity>Same speed>Same timings>Same PCB layout>Same manufacturerWith all those your chance of instability at XMP speed is low(est). As you remove them the chance goes up. Another way to say it is that your max theoretical stable speed goes down.Additionally, Corsair is notorious for swapping ICs around. The kit you bought in 2019(?) might be Micron 8Gb Rev. E but the one you buy today, even the exact same model, might use Hynix CJR.Again, it'll probably be fine because your PC has a decent memory subsystem and 3200 isn't that fast by late DDR4 standards. The question is whether you want to run the risk for the sake of $10? $20?In fact, that exact kit is currently $40 according to PCPP (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/p6RFf7/) so you wouldn't even be saving any vs. the cheapest 32GB kits right now.

>>103312267Neither is great. 7600 is way overkill, unless you want to run a big Minecraft server or something too, and the 5600X has no IGP which makes board selection and setup a pain. You'd need to find a board that can both run headless and do ECC (many will boot, few will correct errors). If you know those boards will fit the bill then, of the two, go 5600(X). My actual recommendation would be an old used HEDT setup if you absolutely require ECC or a >2020 i3 if not.

I honestly don't get the question of "why do you need X?" It seems to me it's a question posed to trying to get people to step in line with current market offerings. The DIY marketspace doesn't have much ECC so you must justify ECC because the market can't be wrong with the majority of systems not having ECC.

The Ventus is one of the lower-end model, it won't explode on you but the cheap cooling can get a bit noisy if you start overstressing it.360mm aio is overkill and that unit is too cheap for me to trust it with running liquid inside my PC, a twin tower cooler like the other guy recommended is more than enough for the 5700X3D Mine doesn't throttle at full load with Noctua's D12L.And do as he said for the RAM, especially with those mismatched latencies. >>103313885Kek, kinda true. Ideally I'd just get a 4K 27 inch screen and repurpose my current 1440p one as a second monitor, but if I go 4k, I kind of want it to be OLED. The problem is that I spend most of my time on Teams, VS Code and 4chan and I fear I might get burn-in.

>>103316993Yeah, 34'' UW has the same pixel density as 27'' 16:9. It isn't exactly about PPI but rather about PPD, which is roughly PPI multiplied by the distance between your eyes and the monitor. If you sit as far from the UW display as you would from the 16:9, they'll appear as smooth. A 34'' UW panel is basically a widened 27'' one.

>>103317142I wouldn't even call it a skill at this point. I've managed to get 4 out of the 5 cheapo cards that I ordered up and running, including a 2060.You literally just diddle the pcb with your multimeter until you see an anomaly, you check the schematic and follow the current line until you find the source of the problem (it's a short 90% of the time) and you replace the faulty component that usually costs less than the $5 shipping cost and done.Even all the hair thin traces running in one of the pcb layers can be repaired if your fine motor skills aren't dogshit. It's piss easy monkey brain work.

>>103317154>>103317314Also Samsung will be first with a 27" 4K model with better color gamut/volume from QD but it still expected to be triangle-RGB. LG's true RGB 4K 27" panel will be much later in 2025 and unless they go full tandem may still suffer worse color performance. Also @ 16- PPI the text fringing from non-RGB subpixel rendering on Samsung's panels may finally be completely fixed as it was already noted to be neglible on the 32" 4K models this year.

>>103317851I wouldn't be worried about the brand, I have had the same amount of problems (not 0 but few) with MSI as with ASUS, the concern should be the QD vs WOLED.
My configuration has:>8.4% of processor bottleneck>14.7% of graphic card bottleneckAccording to this site: https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculatorShould I be worried?
>>103317850Well, that's the thing. I have dual booted before, recently even, and in those cases it's always shown me both drives I could log into after booting. Here it isn't showing the other drive that I transferred; it's just showing the new one. I am also not sure how the MBR would somehow just not be on my main drive. Right now it's mainly just a huge annoyance because I have redownload everything, activate it, etc. onto this new drive. The outcome is actually since since the new drive is the same one as the old drive.
It's occurring to me that the problem might not be the QD OLED, but the fact that I was using a 9-year-old TN panel before and maybe it just didn't reflect shit at all the way more modern panel types do. I'm looking at videos of WOLED again and I think you can still see stuff reflected in them it's just smudged out more and more importantly won't raise black levels. Soo I think I've been unintentionally spreading FUD the last thirty minutes.

Thoughts on this build? Going for 1440p gaming, but I really to play a whole lot of super new AAA games. I already have the gpu, so my aim is to future proof everything surrounding the gpu then upgrade that when the 50series launches. If the 50series is as disappointing as the 40 series I think ill just look for a used 4070 ti super and then just not upgrade again for like a decade (please let me know if this is retarded). Does anyone know if the NZXT H7 Flow is a good case? Originally I was going to go with the Laincool 216 ATX cause I saw it recommended here, but the H7 Flow is on sale for a better price. Is the power supply good? Originally I was going to get a 750W one but then I noticed this 850W one was on sale for nearly the same price and just figured why not. Is there a way to know if this CPU cooler will be enough? I just got it from the OP and its cheaper than the AIO options. Thanks m8s
>>103317921See OP
>>103318048You could bump that CPU down to a 7800X3D and get a meatier GPU.

As for the gpu I dont want amd since I want to do blender and stable diffusion. The only reasonably priced Nvidia one to me seems like the 3060 12gb, but I dont really like that it would be a downgrade from my current card. Thats why I said I want to wait for the 50 series and just buy a used 4070ti super since it looks like it has the most vram and also isnt over $1000 dollars. But if there were another gpu youd recommend let me know, im not super worried about price I just dont like getting screwed by jewvidia
