W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
-10 years support on IoT LTSC, EoL 2032

-EoL 2035
-Only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
-Same UI downgrades as regular W11
-ISO: 4.8GB

W10/W11 Home/Pro/Edu/Enterprise/EnterpriseIoT
-Avoid
-Only 1.5-2 yrs support

>>
>>103477677
Looks like the generic drivers that come with the install ISO don't play nice with your laptop. Easy thing to do would be to go into the original install drive and use DISM to extract all the current running drivers into a folder for you to put on the USB so you can then re-install them in the new install.
>>
>>103477718
I have a ThinkPad if that helps. So the generic install didn't include any drivers related to Lenovo hardware.
>>
>>103477781
Well I mean the wireless not working can happen occasionally but I've never heard of the keyboard driver being so different that the generic driver doesn't know what to do with it.

If Shift+Fn+10 isn't working then it looks like Lenovo put a block on it which OEMs can do.

You shouldn't link directly to the MAS file. People are less likely to trust that compared to if they get to see the github page (plus you don't actually need to download anything for MAS, you just need a Powershell command)
>>

Yeah I dunno why OP decided to start linking directly to the script instead of just the github page. Running it via the irm command is how they expect it to be run.

They're in there because of it being based on 24H2 but you can just set Copilot to not be able to run in the background/uninstall it with Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage, and with Recall you can just disable it with DISM.

you already did most of the meaningful research by beaing able to pick ltsc on youre own(which sadly cant be said for 99% anons posting here)
your not gonna feel not see any noticable improvement from going to 10 to 11
unless you like x or y feature thats exclusive to 11 theres no real point in "upgrading"
maybe in one or two years some program devs decice they wont support 10 anymore (unless they are completely braindead its not gonna happen this soon) and you use said program 24/7 then you will "forced" to do it but its just speculation at this point
your free to test 11 in a vm or a secondary hard drive to see whats up or sate youre curiosity and if its worth youre time or destroying a perfectly fine working w10ltsc install
>>
>>103489207
Most of me wanting to make the switch was someone from /vg/ mentioning a bunch of stuff related to graphics support being already discontinued on 10 which is causing some issues with some games, GTA V had an update the other day and now for some reason the alt tab looks like the classic windows only when switching from the game to something else, his implication was that he didn't had that issue while playing the game on Win 11, which made me have some doubts about if I should just remain on my perfectly running copy Windows 10 without slop or not just for better support with games.
Hope bringing some of backstory for my reason to switch can either make you double down on me staying on 10 or maybe recommending the switch.

>the alt tab looks like the classic windows only when switching from the game to something else
im 99% sure he ran out of memory so the os is doing its best saving ram here and there, at least i experienced something like that when max memory usage using 7, so far i dont remember experiencing the same in 10
also devs can fuck up stuff too when doing updates
the best thing you can do is search x game you play on yt, say
>death rally w10 vs w11 performance
and see if you can learn anything from it but i bet my ass 99% of the time youre not gonna see any improvement or even worse lower perf
again in the context of gayming 11 is only good if you have a intel cpu with goy cores (ltsc) and if you have the lastest ryzen 9xxx youre gonna need latest vanilla version because they got caught butchering amd performance (this was on release mind you, not sure if they got sume firwmare/bios updates to fix this)
>>
>>103489323
Ok thank you for all the info anon, now i can make an informed decision to not make the switch and remain on 10 and just keep getting security updates until it stops losing support from developers.

Last time I tried to change tamper protection I ended up nuking literally all of Defender and then realizing how screwed I was whenever having to deal with work (MS teams) and with MS apps (xbox game pass).
I'm an admin of my own machine, win 11 pro (10.0.22.631), and I can handle GPOs just fine. I don't have any work-enforced policies since I have no account connected to their stuff (i.e. no intune bullshit).
Somehow I can't quite seem to find a reliable way to disable tamper protection and be able to toggle at wish (without auto-re-enable) realtime protection. Any tips?
>>
>>103490079
There's a tool you can use which can disable as much of Windows Security as you want called Defender Remover by ionuttbara.
>>
>>103490084
That's the issue though, I only want to prevent realtime protection from always being on or re-enabling itself. It's fine if Defender is still there and I might even need it sometimes, I don't want to nuke everything defender related because it's a migraine sorting out its dependencies deep within Windows nowadays.
The end goal would be to be able to just have realtime protection off at all times, and selectin when to scan something
>>
>>103490104
I don't think you can have it both ways. It's either on or off.
In this case it sounds like you wanna get rid of Defender and just download another free AV like BitDefender.
>>
>>103490161
The toggle is entirely bullshit then. It USED to be that you could indeed toggle it off, then they made it re-enable itself frequently, and now it's flat out always on.
Nuking defender fucks up your machine so much that you might as well be using Linux instead of fooling around.
I've noticed that even GPOs don't do shit about defender. Best I could do was to add most folders to the exclusion list, but that's about it.
Installing other AVs requires paying for them as well as having yet another level of spyware to deal with anyway, so meh.
>>
>>103490189
You unfortunately cannot have your cake and eat it too in today's Windows landscape when it comes to Defender.
>>
I have a stupid question. First time posting in /fwt/ so please be patient, I am not very smart with technology software

I am building a new PC next week when my graphics card finally arrives. I want to use the storage from my current PC the way that it is, and just move all of it to the new motherboard. Simple enough. But, the motherboard has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability, and from what I've been reading on the motherboard's specs and such, apparently you should install the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers alongside Windows instillation, and some of them talk about a BIOS update as well. But since I'm swapping this current SSD into the new motherboard, I won't be installing Windows, I'll just be using the same storage parameters as before. All the comments I'm seeing about installing Wi-Fi after the fact have me a little scared though because they make it seem very daunting to finish up if you decide to save it for later. Is it really that difficult? Can I just install the Wi-Fi stuff later on and be okay? Or is a full SSD wipe and reinstall necessary? How do I know if my BIOS settings are okay or if I need to update?

Motherboard is Asus B650M Pro RS Wi-Fi if that helps. The graphics card will be here Monday or Tuesday so I'm trying to figure out if I need to just go get something to store all my stuff on and just wipe this system clean. This is only the second time I've built a PC so I'm in completely new territory.
>>
>>103490285
You can just keep the Asus B650M Pro RS Wi-Fi bluetooth and wifi driver setups from its support/driver page on a USB to install later

Also, IoT LTSC only gets security updates so it never breaks. It's the entire point of that version
>>
>>103490825
IoT LTSC only gets the monthly updates/quality updates but these days they have been sneaking a couple extra features in with the updates as well, like that Windows Backup thing or them retroactively adding Copilot to 10 with the November 2024 update (which is at least easy to disable, and doesn't even do anything if you're using a local account.)

Well explorer.exe spiking like that is nowhere near normal, so there might be some kind of software/system rot going on with this old ass install.
Would you want to ever clean wipe it and reinstall something like IoT LTSC 2021 on it or something?

The zhongfly builds are what I use these days. It comes portable, with you needing to make an mpv folder in Program Files and moving the extracted zip files into it, then running the mpv_install.bat script so it appears in the start menu and associates itself with all video/audio formats.

10 IoT LTSC is supported until 2032, but how long do you guys think will other companies continue to support Win 10?
Gaming is one of the wide uses for Windows, but just a month ago Win 11 has finally overtook Win 10 in Steam's Hardware survey, making it the most used OS by Steam users.
>>
>>103492641
Well it does say that only the latest feature pack installs can use this, so it looks like you'll still be using USB to connect your phone if you wanna stay on IoT LTSC 2021.

>>103492656
They'll support Windows 10 for as long as the ESU updates roll out, like how it was with 7 and its support being gradually lost since its ESU updates dried up.

so how do i get 10 IoT LTSC in non-english languages?
>>
>>103492936
Download the LTSC 2021 ISO in your language and install that, then with MAS just change your edition to IoT LTSC with the edition switcher before activating.
>>
>>103492945
can i make the change myself instead of relying on MAS?
>>
>>103492972
Why do you not want to use MAS? Like if you wanna do it manually for whatever reason you can just change your product key to the IoT LTSC one after you get to the desktop.
>>
>>103492972
You can do it by just changing the key in your activation settings and using the appropriate key from here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/kms-client-activation-keys?tabs=server2025%2Cwinowsiot%2Cversion1803%2Cwindows81#generic-volume-license-keys

But you'll still have to activate your windows with MAS after anyway, so I don't see the point of doing it manually when it's just easier with MAS and you have to use it anyway
>>
I use KMS_VL_ALL_AIO because I don't like that MA phones home to check for updates
>>
Is there a preferred version of Office you guys use with Win10 IoT LTSC, or just go with whatever the latest is?
>>
>>103493144
MAS doesn't "phone home" what are you talking about. You load it up once to activate it then not have to use it again.
If you mean the HWID activation then yes that uses MS's activation servers, but if you want to activate locally you got other options like its KMS38 activation or the aforementioned KMS_VL_ALL.

Most recommend to just use Office 365 Pro Plus but you can also use the Office Deployment Tool to install a customized set of Office modules using either 365 Apps For Enterprise or Office LTSC 2021/2024. You use to only be able to activate volume license versions of Office but since Ohook (and the new activation method MAS discovered that'll be added soon-ish) you can activate retail license Office these days.

Literally nothing you can do. The kernal anti-cheat needs access to ring0 and you can't do shit about it.
I was playing LoL again after years cause I wanted to scratch the itch but the idea that there was now a kernel access level thing in my system that at once made my computer boot slower and second just the idea that something has ultimate access of my kernel, so after playing it for like a week I uninstalled it because I couldn't stomach the anti-cheat being there anymore.

not being able to isolate or virtualise them is their literal reason for existing, because if you could do that, you could do that to hide cheats. the reason they're so low level is so nothing on your system can hide from it. if you could get around it, it would not be doing its' job

Scanners aren't complicated though I can easily work one I just don't work cause i'm a millenial, you're actually a retard who thinks there is nothing wrong with a desktop not showing the correct number of files despite me explaining it is my own desktop im looking at in the folder. Its ok though its clear who the actual zoomer is here.

retard here, is the 24h2 update going to get rid of some of the glitches or is it just some extra superficial features and long time support?

Is Recall on LTSC 2024?
Articles today talking all about how it captures credit card and SSN info despite saying it wouldn't (lol @ anyone who thought it wouldn't)

Hmm let me do some quick math here.
>33+25=58
>"there are meant to be about 60 icons"
Hmm. It's almost like C:\Users\<user>\Desktop and C:\Users\Public\Desktop are mixed together for display or something. Same with the Start Menu. It's probably been like this since NT 4.0, and tagentially related to why everyone here thinks you're a stupid fucking cunt.

$50 says this chimp has the Win+Tab Timeline turned on, but because Jewtube didn't tell him to care about that, he doesn't.

yea no that doesn't add up i've counted how many icons are on my desktop its 62, so where the fuck are the missing 4 files considering your math?

anyone know of a windows 7 iso that has all of the updates installed and the telemetry microsoft added removed?
I want to put it on my old laptop I use to watch tranime and don't feel like updating/fixing it myself.
>>
>>103507728
>all of the updates installed and the telemetry microsoft added removed?
You're asking for dry water or smart freetard here. Every CU for Windows 7 issued after 2017 contains the telemetry updates (something the baby ducks always conveniently forget).

I found this iso that's updated and claims to have removed some telemetry. I'll dig more into it later and hopefully disable the rest if all of it isn't already, it's saving me some time at least.

It's almost certainly another case ofo "we didn't install the KBs that came out in 2015 or 2016", conveniently forgetting, as mentioned, it's in every CU since early/mid 2017.
Windows 7 baby ducks live in this freetard-like world of fantasy and self-deception, pretending if they just ignore these things, they just go away. It's part of the reason they're all running shitcoin miners (the other part being the 30-odd WONTFIX RCEs in Windows 7). They really think unconditional love for Aero Glass is a substitute for Group Policy or configuring the firewall.
Keep this in mind while installing.
>>
>>103508450
yeah one of the first things I'm going to do is set up a firewall, though desu I'm probably not even going to use the internet on it after downloading a few programs.
I just want to plug my external drive I keep my tranime on and watch it in bed.
Making win10 look like 7 would probably work too but I don't really need anything from modern windows on it and I may as well go for the real thing.

What would you do in this situation
>>
>>103508988
most obvious telemetry stuff can be easily disabled from the settings or group policy, or shutup10 if you want an easy app for that

This shit literally made the game unplayable, lag when sprites popped in and out during camera movement exceeded multiplayer connectivity threshold.
Yes it's a 2D turn based game. No I have no fucking idea why it needed to pop sprites from hdd instead of precaching, nor why tcp/ip mode multiplayer required constant high quality connection in a game with acutal built-in play-by-e-mail mode.
Oh and also 20 years and multiple sequels later devs still don't know how to netcode.
>out of sync, reloading turn.
