>How do I activate Windows?
https://github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts/archive/refs/heads/master.zip
HWID2 mimics a valid Windows installation to generate a permanent legitimate license

Same link, use Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
-10 years support on IoT LTSC, EoL 2032

-If you need MS Store run this in cmd: wsreset -i
-ISO: 4.5GB

W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
-EoL 2035
-Only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
-Same UI downgrades as regular W11
-ISO: 4.8GB

W10/W11 Home/Pro/Edu/Enterprise/EnterpriseIoT
-Avoid
-Only 1.5-2 yrs support
-Limited control over updates
-Preinstalled bloatware apps (games, music, news, weather, onedrive, start menu ads, etc)
*W11 specific
*Removed features and reduced performance in Start, Taskbar and Explorer
*Recall bloat (ARM)
-ISOs: 6.4~6.6GB

Finally installing Win10 on a drive for a couple things after years of resistance on a chad Win7/Mint dual-boot. I wondered what's the best guide/package to mod a standard ISO before and after installation to remove MS spyware, telemetry, bloatware, and junk services? This seems like exactly what I need. Any other advanced tips? I used to go deep into modding XP and Vista/7 but I've been off the memos for a while

>>
>>103558170

>>
>>103558240
It's pretty well known that when installing Windows to a new drive that you need to either remove any other connected drives before booting or use diskpart within the setup to temporarily make the drive appear offline. Otherwise shit like this happens.
Is it a Linux distro? Could you not just re-install your bootloader from a live USB?
>>
>>103558290
I don't know how to reinstall a windows boot loader from a linux live usb, i didn't know that was possible. I had a secondary drive that had arch linux on it that had half or all my primary windows boot loader on it. It doesn't even give me the recovery screen to boot tools off of.
Should I just back everything up with a linux live usb and re install windows?
>>
>>103558331
If it was Windows you could make a boot USB using HirenBootCD to get access to a Windows live environment which also includes some GUI programs that can fix Windows bootloaders like EasyBCD.

whats the windows equivalent to /home on a seperate partition? i know i can change the location of individual folders like documents, pictures, music, etc. but can i move my whole user directory? appdata and all?
>>
>>103559000
/home is the C:\Users folder on Windows. And no you can't.
>>
>>103559000
there's a bunch of system folders inside each user folder, namely appdata, moving that would probably kill that user account
there's no need to move any of that, just move the docs/pics/etc to another drive, explorer will automatically update the registry values

>>
>>103559000 (Checked)
Ignore >>103559042, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Windows (or more precisely, the User Profile Manager servicie) respects HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList!ProfilesDirectory when creating a user profile ("home directory"), so you can do it that way.

Moving ProfilesDirectory to another volume, however, is "unsupported", as it can break (especially) UWP apps, which use hardlinks to install themselves around %AppData%. Hardlinks, famously, don't work across volumes. As an aside, moving %ProgramFiles% to another volume is unsupported for the same reason.

It's why Microsoft provides the ability to change individual folders as a consolation prize.

What do you guys plan to do after your preferred Windows Update version reaches end of life? Enterprise LTSC? Go back to an earlier version like Windows 10/7 and hope for the best? I was about to ditch Windows when I was still on 22H2, but luckily a friendly anon pointed to an enablement package for 23H2.

But this might be it. 23H2 is probably the safest update I can hang on too without problems. Any further and I might run into incompatibility or security issues. And then there's the whole cat and mouse game Microsoft is trying to play with Recall. I don't want to have to keep scrutinizing my privacy settings after every update from now on in case MS turns it back on or reinstalls all the recall stuff after I've removed it. They were already trying to do some funny business since Timeline and Cortana, but now it's gonna be even more annoying.
>>
>>103568307
>Use IoT LTSC 2024

Is that free as in free or free as in don't let Microsoft catch you using it free? They're not the biggest fan of open-source software when it comes to their own stuff. This has to be some third-party grey area thing.

>>103568426

Since it seems like my favorite Japanese adult comic book site is starting to use .webp more and more so I need a working viewer for them. I updated IrfanView and installed the .webp plugin as well as the WebP codec.

The problem is that in a folder with multiple .webp files IrfanView doesn't seem to browse though the files with scroll wheel or arrow keys like it does with other common image formats. The file association for .webp has been set to IrfanView so that shouldn't be the issue. Is it a "feature" thanks to the .webp support being a plugin or is there a way to fix it?
