You have cyberpunk? That + 1 loop of the benchmark with pt will probably tell you if it's unstable. Better than any other stress test I know of.
For my card max stable at .875v targeting 2720mhz, .950v was 3072, and 1.05v 3257. The first will very rarely exceed 140ish watts, but is 6/7% slower (but I also have on of the better cards, shittier ones that's still probably about the same/higher than what you'd see under full load)
Also I'm 99.9% sure +3000 on memory is stable on all 5070/5070ti's

The easiest way is to set a +200MHz offset using the GPU Core (MHz) slider in Afterburner, and lower the Power Limit slider (anywhere between 75~85%).
You can push the GPU Core offset a bit higher (in 15MHz increments), but it might get unstable.
You can set a voltage cap using the Curve Editor, like in the video below (flatten the right side of the curve).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpW9yXHvOU

925 ~ 975mV is the performance/efficiency sweet spot.
https://github.com/LunarPSD/NvidiaOverclocking/blob/main/Nvidia%20Overclocking.md#undervolting

You need to use the beta version of Afterburner to unlock memory OC past 2000MHz.

>prebuilt acer pos
This is the source of all your problems.
Prebuilt PCs usually have proprietary PSUs & motherboards that restrict upgradeability.
It's partly to prevent owners from trying to install components that the board & PSU aren't good enough to handle, but mostly for cost saving.

You need to wait a while for Max OLED panels, I'm guessing at least 3~5 years.
There might be newer 4K OLED panels with DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification within the next 1~2 years.
The current panels are technically capable of reaching TB1000, but display & monitor manufacturers can't guarantee that level of brightness to be sustainable for 3~5 years.

I don't think this is a problem for newer chipsets, not for the B650 & B850 boards I've seen.

enthusiasts are understandably pissed that nvidia is cucking them on vram for the ~60 series cards.

but i'm getting kinda annoyed seeing reviewers talk about how shit the 60 series cards are at 1440p or 4k or whatever.

if most customers are still on 1080p monitors then it might make sense for nvidia to cut costs on vram. i view it as a shitty situation but not an evil one, and i more so blame retarded consumers stuck on 1080p.

the only cards that should have 8gb are the 50 series cards for poorfags and even then the 5050 is still priced too high.

its not just Nvidia btw, its AMD too. the 9060XT 8gb shouldn't exist.. the worst thing is they both had time to alter course because it was clear last gen that 8gb was no longer going to cut it and the 4060 and 7600 were panned for only having 8gb.

on the MSI MAG X870, they lane split like this:
>USB 40Gbps Type-C ports on the back panel and M2_2 slot share PCIe 5.0 x4
bandwidth. Both run at PCIe 5.0 x2 when a device is installed in the M2_2 slot.
>You can switch M2_2 to PCIe 5.0 x4 in the BIOS, but this will disable the USB
40Gbps Type-C ports
and
>PCI_E3 slot will run at x2 speed when installing device in the M2_3 slot. You
can switch PCI_E3 slot to x4 in the BIOS, but this will disable the M2_3 slot. Or disable the PCI_E3 slot and then the M2_3 slot will run x4 speed.
Perhaps that would be a better fit for your needs.

Should i just say fuck it and buy a 5070 ti? Ive been oogling over a new pc build for 6 months and the gpu market newer gets better.
Absolute cheapest 5070ti is 9500NOK(norway) which is 942$ but i was considering getting the Gainward 5070 Ti Phoenix-S GS version for 50$ more. Worth the 50$? Im tired of having to run games on low&mid settings to get more than 100+ fps. Feels like ive been waiting for nothing these last months. Black week/black friday in Norway is also terrible, every shop here turns up prices beforehand to than lower back to same prices they had

What's the other model? Compare the card dimension from the official product page; it's worth spending a bit more if the Phoenix-S GS has the larger cooler & fans.

The cheapest one starts @ $810 in the US, and there are plenty of $900 4K 240Hz OLED monitors to choose from.
$810 option is the ASRock WOLED (PGO32UFS) with 4K/1080p dual mode support; it has limited burn-in protection features, which some may consider to be a plus.

Similar situation here in Bulgaria - the 5070 is by far the best deal starting at 600 euro. The 5070Ti starts at 900, the 5060Ti 16GB is about 500.
9060XT 16GB is 430 euro, 9070 is 750 euro, 9070XT also starts at about 750-800 euro.
The 5070 is easily the best brand new GPU deal. On the used market the best deal is probably the 4060 8GB for 200 euro, which is low enough wattage to be a drop-in replacement for old shit like the 1060, 1660, 2060, etc. that you might still be keeping around, to breathe new life into the PC.

My ryzen 5800h laptop lags really badly when running android emulators which is making me hesitant to go to AMD for my next desktop. Intel is just all around more reliable still right? I don't care that much about the increases in fps in gaming
>>
>>106410163
Not really. They both have issues but most users won't encounter them. If your emulator uses some intel-specific technology like VT-d then sure go for it but you should look into why it's lagging first; if it's something simple like running out of memory or thrashing a core then an upgrade in that area, regardless of vendor, should fix it. Ideally you'd find benchmarks but idk if anyone benches Android emulators like that. Worth checking, still. FWIW, Intel's current gen processors aren't /bad/ in general - they just don't offer as much value for the average consumer.

Laptops always overheat and throttle. It's not a good measure of a CPU brand's performance as it hugely depends on the laptop manufacturer's cooling design.
To answer your question, intel's fastest desktop CPUs, 13th/14th gen, is affected by massive reliability issues from voltage causing accelerated wear. Their 12th gen is okay but slower than amd's Ryzen 9000 series of CPUs.

The emulator was LD Player and it was lagging with 1+ second delay playing Azur Lane, an old gacha game. That laptop didn't have cooling issues since I could play more demanding games as it had a mobile 3060. My 10700k has no problems.

I'll be running multiple instances of LD Player or whatever better future emulator comes out on my desktop. I want my obscure Japanese indie hentai game to work. I read anecdotes like my screenshot and it makes me unsure.

If "wfh" means Excel/Word/browser you could save some money here. Don't need 12 cores unless you're going to use them all at once (rendering, encoding, compiling, etc.).

It's fine but again probably overkill depending on your workload.

At this capacity I'd be thinking RAID at the least and ideally a NAS. If you've got some backup/network stuff running already it's fine.

Almost eight hundred of the King's English Pounds Sterling for a 5060Ti.

Extreme overkill for these components. Frankly still overkill if you jumped the card up by three tiers.
>>
>>106410567
Thank you. For the case, I could switch to a Meshify 3.
I don't mind being overkill with the hope of it lasting a while. My current computer has lasted me 12 years because I went overkill there also.
I think NAS is a better solution but the idea of creating a NAS system instead of just a hard drive I can slot in seems easier, but maybe that is better.
>>
>>106410584
>For the case, I could switch to a Meshify 3
Yes that would be better temps/noise-wise but you do lose the dust filter. OTOH the (properly filtered) Meshify 2 has worse fans so pick your poison. Other case brands are available.

>I don't mind being overkill with the hope of it lasting a while
Sure but 8 is currently the "headroom" count for gaming/browsing and you will get the option of an in-socket upgrade if you ever need it. Plus FWIW some games see a small regression on the dual-CCD CPUs.
The real problem with all this "overkill" stuff is that it's adding up to a significant amount. There's probably £400 of easy savings in that build which could go towards more impactful components - a 5060Ti is not going to last 12 years. Or, alternatively, it could be put towards other stuff like your chair/audio/mortgage/etc.

>I think NAS is a better solution...
It would be. You'd get the benefits of redundancy and easy access to your media anywhere on the network. Really I'm mostly concerned about putting all your WFH files on a single HDD. Again, it's fine if your company has some sort of backup system or it's just going to be replaceable stuff like films.

I have two screens and I am considering a NAS system. However, I have this idea. I buy a cheap case and throw some cheapish parts in for a basic homemade NAS. I then connect my normal computer to my left screen and my "NAS" to my right screen. I connect the computers with ethernet and use the mouse without borders thing to use the same m+kb for both. This way I can have Windows and Linux at the same time.

Any reasons why this is retarded?

Unfortunately that's not how that works. You could rig up a system where you're "permanently" SSH'd into your NAS on the second monitor but realistically it'd just be easier to run a VM if you need to jump between multiple operating systems. Plus, presumably, the NAS will be quite weak so having quick access to its compute wouldn't even be all that useful.
>>
>>106412013

>>
>>106412045
If you like. Back when I built mine they weren't great value, especially if you want to run plugins, but they work well enough. I guess your main problem is you seem confused about what you want. If you just want a NAS then you don't really need instant access but if you want quick access to a Linux environment you need something stronger than a Synology box.

there's a hard cap of 1.3 V SOC in AGESA
so it's probably not the source of the problem at all, asrock just wants to be perceived like they're actively working on the issue
if they pushed SOC LLC to max on old BIOS versions that might have done it but i can't imagine why they would do that in the first place

AMD feels like the motherboard vendors did them a solid by supporting AM4, even though the early 300 boards were shit. B450/X470 were better and the 500 boards were meant to be Zen3 exclusive as a way of AMD thanking the vendors.
naturally that went down like shit so AMD said "fine, 400 series can too but 300 series never"
then AMD reneged on that because Alder Lake was good and Zen4 was late.
so now AMD is firmly on top and is still acting like they owe the vendors when they really should be making demands of the vendors to stop fucking up, instead of passive aggressively locking it down through AGESA.

the only reason to buy gpu with vram as the priority would be local LLM use, and you wouldnt buy amd for that
so idk what that guy is on about
18gb 5070 super should be fine for most, or 24gb 5070 ti super for slightly larger models.

Is it popular to pretend that the 9070XT doesn’t have any advantages over the 5070ti? It’s got 20% higher 1% lows than the 5070ti on average and is even beating the 5080 at all but 4k in the new battlefield. It’s just better card for the most part if you’re only gaming.

Allocation =/= Utilization.
The VRAM amount that a Radeon GPU needs to allocate =/= the amount needed for GeForce cards.
Obvious performance degradation & game crashes are signs that 12GB VRAM buffer isn't enough, and these only happen on games where the 4070, 5070, or equivalent GPUs are too weak to render the scene at above 60 fps with DLSS.

It's not enough to extract maximum performance out of the chip; manual static OC is recommended to get the best possible score.
You also need to OC the memory because 3DMark's CPU score scales with your system's DRAM performance.
Pic shows the world's best 9700X Time Spy CPU score. I picked this chip because higher-end ones like 9800X3D attract XOCers with LN2 cooling.

When you want the best personal record for 3DMark benchmarks, you want the CPU to be constantly running at the highest possible effective boost clock (flat CPU boost line in performance monitoring section).
When you compare other people's 3DMark records, pay attention to average clock frequency & average temp.

Day2 FAFO'ing with the G80SD

recap of yesterdays adventures and more
>can't connect laptop with USB-C -> DP cable, as such can't test 4k240 over DP
>seem to not have any eye strain yet so far, compared to other glossy qd with same panel tested before

>can't run game motion plus meme shit with pc input even though I am in 60hz mode should be a fix in osd for it
>no pixel refresh notifications or nags quite yet
>seem to have 0 dead or stuck pixels, which would be my 2nd 32" 4k 240hz panel with literally no dead pixels

>considered going and getting a DP male -> USB-C converter and trying if it works with the standard dp cable, might try that tomorrow

>again 32" is not not that large on a desk, would maybe consider if there really is a point to 27", considering you can literally use unscaled 4k 32" quite easily (redacted my opinion on this, kind of maybe slightly)

>still feel monitors lack many picture setting adjustments, especially dark areas and gamma related shit, "black eq/increase dark areas shit" ok 3-5 points that almost don't move that insane, but I am used to a cranked to the bottom gamma IPS

>motivates me more to buy a 55" S95F since I kinda like this if anything, but wondering if 55" might actually be retarded

>almost always wish the panel is brighter always but settings that increase brightness almost always fuck something up idk

>tested HDR in ER and increasing brightness slider in this game does not blow out detail, it did some how on older monitor in hdr on pretty much all settings, even with full windows HDR calibration, what the fuck is that?
>on old qdoled monitor could see almost all the black boxes on lagom lcd test, but on Samsung can't see fucking none of them except the last, only increasing black levels in osd shows some more, should not that mean that it's worse calibrated? very strange

>matte coat almost glossy at an angle

what more to say, to be continued

I'm in the market for a new monitor and trying to figure out resolution between 1440p or 4k.
I got a 4070 Super Ti. I play games mostly, including fighting games so I want very low response, but I also watch some movies here. Am I supposed to go a lower 1440p for high settings andgreat refresh rate, or 4k with lower settings and good refresh rate?

Also is OLED still a meme?
>>
>>106414768
You're supposed to get gaming monitor and a good TV.
>>
>>106414768
at a certain distance the difference between 1440p and 4k becomes insignificant. OLED is fine for exclusive TV (with no static logos) and movies but for anything with static elements like regular PC usage or gaming I wouldn't get one.
>>
>>106414768
>fighting games
literally locked at 60fps usually no? so 4k

>1440p or 4k.
unless you want 500hz and play esport fps there is no point, looks bad compared to 4k

>Also is OLED still a meme?
only if you buy a bad firmware monitor which is annoying or you run into the few classical problems like blackscreen flicker that might be to nv, windos driver or software or hardware or dsc
which also existed on lcds before but I digress

or you can get a 4k 55"+ oled tv for the best quality and brightness if gonna play at 60-165hz and have the distance

What fighting game? I thought a lot of them had locked fps ceilings...

If you watch movies, I would check getting an ultrawide monitor.

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-34-240hz-qd-oled-gaming-monitor-aw3425dw/apd/210-brrk/monitors-monitor-accessories
QD-Oled so it's more of a night time / low light monitor.

https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34gs95qe-b-gaming-monitor
lg woled panel (better in higher room lighting) but it has a strong curve 800R

now, if you don't want an ultrawide, it depends on the your eyes wether you should get 1440p or 4k. Some people don't notice the higher res for it to matter to them.

with 4k you can get 27" or 32" nowdays at 240hz. So it depends on the size of screen you want also.

Can you download the demo of this official match? I'm curious about the 1% lows your system can get.
It's the same demo that a Vitality pro (Ropz) complained about (1GB file, so I understand if you don't want to bother).
https://www.hltv.org/matches/2384381/tyloo-vs-vitality-esports-world-cup-2025
Click on the "Demo sponsored by..." link (once), and it will automatically start the demo download.
Run the Nuke demo map, Round 15 in Ropz' POV (demo perspective automatically set to Ropz, just skip to 34:15).
https://x.com/ropz/status/1958657021114307030

>How to run CS2 Demo files
Save the nuke .dem file in ~\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo
Open the console in CS2 and enter "playdemo demo_name" to start it. You can also just enter "playdemo[space]" and the console will find playable demos you can run.

>To enable the Steam performance monitor, go to Settings->In Game, and find the Performance Monitor settings and detail level options.
The worst 1% low presented in the Steam performance monitor for that round was 97 FPS for me (after utilities thrown), and it also dipped down to 170 FPS when Ropz landed a headshot.

The game tracks utility thrown in every area of the map, regardless of where you are. The fps drops when there are a lot of utilities thrown within a short timeframe.

you're right about that
at 34:34 it dips to 111 FPS
at 35:08 it dips to 183 FPS (i think that's the headshot you mentioned)
1440p low like before

Proprietary NAS like Synology or DIY MiniPC NAS on x86?

i'll do a windows test tomorrow because now you've got me curious lmao
it's not a meme that AMD on linux runs better and has lower CPU overhead, but i also know CS2 performance was pretty bad on linux at launch because it's forced to use vulkan

What's the most "powerful" LP single-slot consumer GPU? Yeston RTX 3050?

I'm kind of surprised pro players complain about those spikes.
But I guess they play the game so much that they can notice all those distractions.

Galax released a single-slot 4060 Ti iirc

I am looking at models on their site and they all look 2-slot. There is reddit thread about it, but on pic it looks like workstation card with a blower and no visible branding.
>>
>>106416818
Single slot + not a quadro = yeah the 3050
Do you really need a single slot card though?

I don't want another huge-ass box for NAS...
But having GPU in there would be nice.
Do you know any compact cases that have 4x3.5"HDD and fit 2-slot GPU onto ITX motherboard?

Used 2060 super, 2070, or 2070 super. Get the best one you can find for $150/$160ish
Could also find a 1080ti or titan X pascal for about $120. Keep in mind for the titan there's an x from 2015 and an x from 2016. You for sure would want the 2016 card if this is your choice.
Could also look for a Vega 56 or 5700xt, but these cards can be temperamental (driver type issues), and a lot of them the memory is burnt out.
In newer games even the 2060 super is way better of than a 1080ti, really want to be on Turing (rtx 2000) minimum for anything 2023 onwards.

>any suggestions on upgrades?
I'd wait for RTX 60 or UDNA/RDNA5 for a video card upgrade.

>maybe cl26 memory or faster main drive?
Is that kit's 6400MT/s stably running on 1:1 UCLK:MEMCLK mode?
I'd learn to manually tune the existing modules before getting a better binned set.
It's also kind of a waste to buy novel 6000~6400MT/s kits when Zen 6's memory controller and interconnect upgrades might raise the sweet spot to over 8000MT/s.

Can someone tell me the difference between these 2 models and if either are worth getting? https://www.ebay.com/itm/267305027724 is easy enough to get the full specs but https://www.ebay.com/itm/277237933212 doesn't really come up with anything other than a single acer link that doesn't work.

>6400MT/s stably running on 1:1 UCLK:MEMCLK mode?

UCLK:MEMCLK mode 1:1 but 6000 and cl30, i dont think it was stable the last time i checked using 6400 32

Follow this Buildzoid EZ timing, but I would set tREFI to 40959 instead of his suggested 50K if there's no active cooling for the memory sticks.

You try playing anything past like 2020ish and you'll be wishing you had something better. There's several games that are now literally unplayable on gtx cards.
But I guess if the price is right and you only care about old games...
How much? I would say if it's not like $70 just get a vega card at that point.

NTA, but 2060 Super is the better option.
It can still play some of the newer games on an Intel 9th-generation i5 CPU.
