either have pros and cons

a company that has an actual customer base and has good revenue and does a core part of society (i.e. credit cards, loans, consumer based stuff, like shopping, etc.) will always do well unless something major happens then we're all fucked.

A company that hires jeets to outsource software building for other companies is competing with other shitty jeet businesses.

Unless by the 2nd point you meant something more like B2B but alot of those are pure scams.
>>
Our cs team started direct messaging me about issues that are "extremely urgent", no worries, I solved one, the issue repeats again and then I realize the whole implementation I am fixing is fucked up (not my fault) but even then it has apparently been like that for over a year and no one has complained about it...still apparently its highly urgent
Now my manager direct messaged me about it because someone got the idea that it was gonna take weeks to solve when I said I need some time to solve this issue. Rest assured I got tilted at that point for people direct messaging me about my work and didnt get the thing sorted today either.

I should honestly practice some kind of mindfulness stuff to get back on track faster. Now I feel like working the weekend since the day felt like a wate.

The new grad wants a high tech life in a busy city, coding for 60hrs a week, going out to restaurants and bars to socialize every night, smart RGB-equipped tacky apartment/condo and feeling impactful to some rich corporation for a feeling of status.

The tenured principal engineer wants a remote parcel of land where they can grow vegetables and meditate, full of simplicity and analog technology, devoid of tech industry connected products they've contributed to throughout their tenures as they do not trust it. Maybe they invite a few close friends over for a campfire occasionally.

no it doesn't you poor pleb
inflation's only purpose is to make the poor poorer, while the rich easily beat it with safe investments and grow
if you beat the threshold (like 3 mil absolute minimum) you can have an income of 100K from bonds and dividends, while you park the rest for growth
of course the more money you have the easier it gets
if you have like 10 or 30 mil, you gonna double it every decade while still living like a king

Techbros, I'm an Technical IT Manager with a Bachelor's degree and cybersex cert. How the fuck can I make it? I get paid like shit for my work ($92k) and I really just want to go back to SysAdmin or IT Support roles while making big dollas....

what's the secret? I see FAANG and Fortunate 500 companies posting jobs online with $100k salaries and the job duties are fucking elementary level IT troubleshooting and asset management. Yet I can't even get an interview. And yes I am a real IT guy not a faggot manager who sits in meetings and plays Runescape all day.

I put out fires all day long and do project work when the higher ups decide they need another pair of hands. I come home more exhausted than I've ever been every single fucking day. I haven't had a 40 hour week since last month and drive at least 60 miles a day to clients. Wednesday was 200 miles and a 13 hour day. MSPs are cursed. Some stupid fag posted a fagman video of an asian dude complaining about on-call because "duh senior engineers are watching", but I'm on-call right now and fixed an org-wide VPN outage yesterday after hours. It's just fucking normal having c-suite faggots grill you because their shit is broke or being on call with a group of whoever the fuck waiting for you to desperately try to fix the security system locking the front door despite the fact that you've never seen the software before. It doesn't even phase me anymore.

I did everything right, went to a decent school, got a couple internships, got certed, studied hard, home labbed, know how to script. I know basic security, fairly deep networking, deep into cloud shit that I never use. If I studied any other cert I'd be called "paper cert". But I graduated in 2025 and now my life is just over. I think I've accepted this is just the rest of my life. No vidya games, no time for friends or hobbies, no wife or family. Just work a shit job for 24 an hour to barely afford a hovel then die. Never join an MSP anons.

I'm completely fucked and it's my fault. I'm the guy who mentioned he was enlisting in the Space Force for a cybersecurity job.

Do you think this is the right play for me? Goal is to get my top security clearance, finish my 4 year contract, then use that clearance to work private sector, maybe do my masters for free too.

I'm just too incompetent to even pass an interview in my current state in the off chance I got one.

>Currently working as a substitute teacher making surprisingly good money (hate it though and desperate to leave)

i don't understand why people have this mindset. at least you sticked through it and made decent money. stability is everything no matter what year it is. nobody should claw their way to get a job, wasting their time diddling with leetcode, bullshit toy projects, ATS whatever, HR garbage, the fact that you said that it's fairly easy to have job means you're luckier than most.

>degree was basically free due to scholarships + aid
this too is feat honestly. some people would go to uni wasting their parents money and didn't become anything when they graduate

on the other side we have very entitled bitches who refuses to work or make money in other field outside of their studies and rot at home gooning all day.

first things first, be grateful. NEVER EVER EVER QUIT YOUR JOB BEFORE YOU GET THE NEXT ONE. If you want to get masters then just get masters now, do another round of scholarship. Your life is easier than 80% other beings on earth because you played your cards right so far and avoiding meaningless suffering skillfully like being addicted to garbage or having to deal with family drama, nor having to deal with applying to 1000+ jobs and still unemployed.

YOU ARE NOT FUCKED. REPEAT THIS EVERYDAY. What's fucked is rotting on the bed everyday and wasting your health and time like everyone on /utwg/ and /agdg/.

I'd suggest to find meaning in something else. Tech is oversaturated nigger bullshit garbage just like everyone says. Be good at tech all you'd like but don't do it for the sake of impressing recruiters. The fact that you're a teacher means at least there are lots of people who loves you compared to being a h1b jeet. If you still want to be in tech, slime through it just like what you've done so fart by meeting with the right people on random wedding/dinner instead of the application hell like everyone else.

I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1,000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

What's your WFH hygiene routine?

being a cheap ass is different from being smart with your money. I would say that when not spending an amount of money you can comfortably afford is making your life appreciably worse, you are being a cheap ass. If you don't CONSOOOOOOM then you're probably smart with your money.

>I suck at investing though
Investing is a gamble, you should treat invested money as lost money. If you want to park some money somewhere your best bet might just be passive ETFs, as historically they have outperformed 90%+ of active investors. Don't believe the meme of self made millionaries on day trading, most people end up losing everything.

I don't like this career. The money isn't that crazy, just higher than I expected given the low barrier to entry. I hate being in a school setting and having 20+ eyes on me.

There's still tech jobs, although they are drying up. But if I go this route I'll face less competition and h1b as clearance requirements stop them. It's very easy to get hired with a top security clearance and a CS degree.

>>106432660
That's the plan bro. Part of what is motivating me to go military is the benefits as fucked up as it sounds.

100% VA disability is the most common rating and is an untaxed $3900 a month as a single man, even more with a wife and family. Literally just need to work 10-15 years if you have this then you can retire at 40 comfortably

VA home loan means I can stack properties with low interests. Cheaper health, home and car insurance too.

Can I ask if you regret serving in the military and what job you did? If clearances really make getting jobs ez mode?

I feel like it's yet another misguided meme, maybe even a psyop, but all I got out of my years of service is a fair amount of money, a lot of crying, and a lot of non-tear salt, but did finally land a job at a defence contractor (making objectively less than I would if I went back to full-time on a ship, but without having to go on a ship at least)

>Can I ask if you regret serving in the military and what job you did?
I'm a commsie and spent most of my "secondary duty" time on the ships and more recent reservist time as an IT dustman inbetween training/managing young'uns on commsie shit. For as much as I complain, most of it has been "Type II Fun".

>If clearances really make getting jobs ez mode?
IDK about the US but here in canuckistan, a hard no. Private industry does not have access to the same systems that track clearance, and it seems like in private industry you need to be cleared for specific jobs at specific places and this stuff doesn't transfer over.

Also, there are no CS people in the military. Even the US only recently stood up in-house "cyber" people and they are not cooooders, they're glorified SOC monkeys. The military does not develop its own software and memehat hacking is handled by other agencies who have very jealously protective charters saying only they can do that. (NSA, CSIS, CIA, CSEC, etc)

I want to invite whores over to my place, but I feel so ashamed of the shitty shed I live on (doesn't even have a bathroom inside) that I'd rather not do that... but I won't touch this piece of shit house until my mom signs the papers, because she tried to scam me with some money, the fucking narcissistic bitch.

You genuinely do not "try" therapy - you have to 1) WANT TO fix the underlying issue you're seeking therapy for, it has to be something that is burning you up from the inside and 2) try as many different therapists as possible, most of them are retards who don't know what the fuck they're doing. Imagine the average university grad and how fucking stupid they are, and those are the same people who end up being your therapist. You have to find the good ones.

I know this is ragebait so you can feel cool because you've been edgy on a mongolian basket weaving image board, but therapy has helped me immensely to come to terms with my early life and learn how to control my crippling anxiety, depression and apathy. But I first had to get to the point of suicidal thoughts and actually wanting to reach out for help because I was sick of living like that.
Especially if you are a tech worker and spend most of your day in front of a computer and not interacting with nature and other humans you have to take extremely good care of your mental health. I though it was all bullshit myself until I had to go through it.
From what the other anon writes in >>106437783 and >>106437581
I suspect he's been going through something similar and I wish him the best regardless if he decides to go to therapy or not, remember fren that you only get to live once and no matter how though this shit gets there is beauty out there that will remain unseen unless you make the effort to go witness it.
Therapy is not a silver bullet and it's not the be all and end all, but it is worth trying if you have no other option.
>>
>>106437842
Yeah, i've had suicidal thoughts for like 20 years, though i would never tell anyone that, especially a therapist, because that just gets you locked up, and then I'd lose my comfy tech job and RSUs. So if I didn't have this job, I'd be a completely worthless person, not just mostly worthless.

So I'm off shore for a big tech company in the third world and I wanna make it to America to get better salary.
I'm not indian or asian, so i dont have the connections.
So I was thinking of doing my master on stanford, caltech, something closer to the bay area. Like a 2 year masters in computer science or data science, just something to buy a pass to America. I have bacheleors degree in EE so idk if its a good idea considering the price of college is very high and i dont wanna spend a lot of time in school because at the end of the day school is just bullshit.

The issue is that most of the AI people even dumber than the code monkeys, and the previous wave of security people.

Current AI people are literally dumbest normies with title soup and following python tutorials for endless "quick demos". They spiked the devops type tickets.

>40% of the jobs are held by immigrants, and most of those are from a country whose average iq is 78
The thing to remember about Indians is that they have essentially been doing soft-eugenics for >2000 years because of their caste system.
Back in the 1900s, all the Indian immigrants were the highly educated and polite people from the upper castes. Now they've opened the flood gates and we're getting standard Indians. I went to the North Carolina School of Science and Math for high school, and like a third of the people were second/third generation Indian Americans and most of them were genuinely bright.

Two Indians from separate castes in the same city have been found to be as genetically different as Spaniards and Germans.There's something like 1.5-2 billion people living in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh so there's millions of people sitting in the 115-145 IQ range, it's just that the majority of Indians are retarded

Smarter people are lower on the bell curve. If india and the rest of the world had harsh winters like northern europe did for tens of thousands of years we would see that higher IQ curve upwards. Warfare, mate selection and many other things are a factor but the cold winters that kills the unprepared is the largest determiner of higher IQ.

That isn’t true, Europe has harsher winters than East Asia, yet East Asia averages 106 while Europe averages ~98-100

i do know about this. some indians are actually quite bright but its a very very small population of them. they are so brazenly exploiting the system theyre bringing over the low caste monkeys that have iqs in like the low 90s to do intellectual work.
every other ethnicity and group has in-group preference and tries to help their own. whites are the only ones that practice the opposite on a large scale and its even illegal to do so. indians have gotten so obvious with the fraud that theres been at least two tech companies that have had legal penalties for hiring only indians. imagine how bad that has to be to even happen in today's circus justice system.

but all we need to guys is VOTE!!! if we just VOOOOOTE one more time it will actually make a difference for this time, for real! if we just replace the current bought out and completely compromised politicians for another set of completely compromised and bought out set of politicians, things will actually start changing. unlike the previous 30+ years where policy outcomes have been entirely divorced from what party has control.

canada is unironically a good example of this. up here they were notable for being the "good" immigrants, usually being people who went to a real school and came over to work a real job

then JUSTin imported a million of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet and canadian opinion on jeets went from "preferred immigrant" to "NUKE THEIR WHOLE COUNTRY FOR THE GOOD OF THE WORLD" in under a year

you can really tell how bad the caste system has inbred these retards too. just near my hous there's a pizza place run by a jeet, and unsurprisingly staffed by jeets. the owner is a normal guy, kinda shady, but so is every small service industry business owner. the people he employs are literally retarded. they move slow as fuck, are always doing weird shit with their hands, and any time one of them has had to actually cook something they get the order completely wrong and it isn't even good. they manage to fuck up sysco slop when the boss isnt there doing it himself. i've also noticed that they have an animal-like posturing nature. they're super timid around anyone bigger than them (luckily im a big fat mutt of average western height, so a foot on most low casters ez) but i routinely see them bully their peers or any non-indian that is smaller than them. and that's just in a pizza joint. i couldnt imagine working with people like that in any kind of white collar work, or even skilled trades

the situation in canada legitimately depresses me. from what i can tell they fucked up the real estate market so that ordinary people cant possibly own homes for decades to come. fucked up healthcare and made it illegal to get private healthcare. restricted firearm ownership for citizens, no conceal carry, but criminals still have them of course. clown mode justice system where violent criminals are always handled lightly. progressive drug policy so there are unstable violent junkies roaming. tactical demographic nukes deployed on everyone's cities.
i could be wrong about some of that. but its like a glimpse of the future to come for everywhere.
usa is doing pretty shit in these a lot of these regards but at least there are still a few avenues for ordinary people to earn a middle class income to own a house, defend family and property, and send kids to a decent school. policymakers in the west in general are pushing for a much smaller lifestyle for everyone. the goal is to stuff the entirety of working class into ultra high density housing in "le walkable cities", with as little emission and independence as possible. at least previously there was an illusion of the democratic citizen being something more than economic livestock.
it seems like the damage done to some places in the west is so great at this point there's no chance it ever resolves peacefully. boomers are dropping a demographic grenade in the room before they leave.

at least AI will revolutionize how effective at enforcing such a depressing police state will be thoughbeitever
>>
Guys, all the boomers in my team are retiring. I work with some ancient machines, and the older guys are the only ones who really know how to keep them running. Most of them have been here 10–30 years, while me and my coworker only started last year.

So… does this mean my job is basically secured, or is the whole company about to implode?

this is not and has never been true.

>clown mode justice system where violent criminals are always handled lightly.
highly incorrect but 90% of the country is basically unpoliced because outside of onterrible and quumbic they just leave it up to the RCMP who do not care (imagine calling 911 for a home invasion and the FBI takes the call, you think they're actually gonna show up when they have dissidents to waco and parliamentary documents to shred??)

>progressive drug policy so there are unstable violent junkies roaming.
not really outside of BC and BC is basically just California With Even Less Snow Somehow

>tactical demographic nukes deployed on everyone's cities.
what does this even mean

canada is turbo fucked up but it's not at all like americans imagine. the reality is much more boring and honestly worse because it's more that there are no jobs. there is no manufacturing but also "tech" is a joke here and finance only happens in one(1) city so there is no job market at all outside of min wage service or working for an american company that happens to have an office nearby (who will pay you below market wages)
chink speculation on property destroyed housing before you were born and more recently coof and ukraine made rents and food spike through the roof for no reason other than "they could". infinity jeets is a problem but in the grand scheme it's a minor annoyance compared to the long list of things that make canada a lame place to live

>just
nigga that was almost 20 years ago
>a pretty shining example of violent crime going unpunished. he spent like 12 years in prison?
iirc he was committed to a mental institution and placed under basically permanent probation. and he got off "light" because the case hinged on him having been in travel too long and not having access to his meds and basically admitting "yeah if i'm off my meds for too long it could certainly happen again; please put me under monitored care". and before you assume OMG HE WAS BORDER HOPPIGN WITHOUT HIS MEDS ????? he was already a citizen for several years by then.

>This means that Canadians cannot pay out of pocket for services that are covered by their provincial or territorial health insurance plan.
this applies to the doctors and insurance companies, not the patients. it's that if you go to a private clinic for a gunshot wound and flash your provincial insurance card, they can't then bill you directly, they have to give you the care and then file it with the gubberment insurance people exactly as they would with (non-shit) private insurance

>According to Stanley Yaren, his court psychiatrist, Li told him that he had converted to Christianity and was baptised during his employment at Grant Memorial Church, after he heard the "voice of God" talking to him. Li said that the voice called him the "third story of the Bible", as well as the "second coming of Jesus", destined to save people from an alien invasion. In preparation, the voice would regularly order Li to travel through the country on foot or by bus, often disappearing from his home for days on end, as corroborated by his wife.[9] Due to his paranoid belief that he was constantly under threat by alien infiltrators, Li began carrying a buck knife on his person for protection. This is the same knife he ultimately used to kill McLean. His delusions would later be ascribed to undiagnosed schizophrenia.[21][22] Li's wife recalled that he often went several days without sleeping or eating, and often spent his days at home crying and telling her about his visions of God. She and many of Li's friends attempted to get Li to visit a doctor for his auditory hallucinations, but he refused due to a fear of hospitals.[14] The couple subsequently separated in March 2005, leading Li to leave for Thompson, initially planning to buy land, but after realizing that he had no money, he instead began working as an overnight maintenance worker at a local Wal-Mart. Four months later, Li saved up enough to move back to Winnipeg, where he briefly worked as a gas station attendant for Domo and part-time at a Tim Hortons. Li says it was during this time that he suffered his first full-blown mental breakdown.[14]

its about the penal system placing no value on human lives. you can be brutally murdered by a stranger and they will walk because its the "humane" thing to do (the most economically efficient thing). is that written simply enough or do you need it reworded again to be able to understand the point is not about crime rates?

>you can be brutally murdered by a stranger and they will walk because its the "humane" thing to do
he didn't walk, he spent 12 years in an insane asylum and several more under probation

it's not like the US doesn't have Insanity Pleas either, and "I thought I was killing an ayy lmao" backed up with "I'm his wife and he has been talking about killing ayy lmaos for like a decade now" and "I was a passenger and he repeatedly shouted that he was sending an ayy lmao to meet jesus" and a doctor saying "yeah there's a history of obsession with killing, ayy lmaos, and killing ayy lmaos in what few medical records we could get out of Chyna" seems like one of the few times an insanity plea is appropriate

by contrast, the other Big Canadian Killer, luca magnotta, got life and all appeals denied. he only didn't get the chair because we no longer operate the chair (electricity too expensive, oil sands no longer profitable and we ran out of coal, please understand)

I addressed this and honestly when I talk politics with the locals it's something I get mad about:
>90% of the country is basically unpoliced because outside of onterrible and quumbic they just leave it up to the RCMP who do not care (imagine calling 911 for a home invasion and the FBI takes the call, you think they're actually gonna show up when they have dissidents to waco and parliamentary documents to shred??)
I am a firm believer that the RCMP does not provide effective policing and the lack of provincial security services is just kikish penny-pinching by the provinces, and municipal PDs are hilariously ineffective outside of the largest cities because even places with city police tend to defer jurisdiction to the RCMP very obviously just to save money. and individual RCMP officers have little impetus to do police work properly and effectively since they're rarely if ever actually from the place they're serving (they get posted around as needed sorta like military members and rarely serve their home towns). the RCMP is a fine counterpart to the FBI, but have no or even perverse incentives when deployed as beat cops, but they are the only beat cops in most communities.

ok fair but canada sucks for different (and actually vastly worse) reasons than you believe. perhaps it is presumptuous to expect a FOREIGNER to understand canada's issues, but we as a global community cannot fight global decline without properly identifying the problems

I've been working IT for about 5 years and I'm wondering if I should just change careers. The job market looks bad. I don't even have a degree, I consider myself lucky I can still sit on my ass working comfortably from home but I'm worried about the future.

It's just a stupid trend. People putting stickers on their computers are the same people that would advocate for using X/Y/Z libraries/framework or doing A/B/C in a certain way because some study by some no-name organization.

yet again you meme yourself into a /pol/ tizzy by missing the core issue
>you cannot post the images yourself
>presumption of innocence
im pretty sure the US has laws about this too, and canada specifically has libel laws that trip even if the bad things you say about someone are true. so like, if you were to go on an internet hate campaign about a restaurant that gave you food poisoning, the response would be the same: "you're actively trying to destroy this man, this has ascended from mere complaint into vexatious litigation shit so stahp". the actual recording is not the issue.

HOWEVER ALSO
>toronto
t-dot is a corrupt shithole and is becoming even more "california with worse weather" than BC is. the only people that willingly live in toronto are bugmen, finance boomers, and indians who want to become finance boomer bugmen
>SQ
basically the mob, what they mean when they say "use proper channels" is "we get our protection money first" (and the SQ (and SPVM while we're at it) is actually notably fucking brutal towards criminals that impact "civilians" much like oldschool organized crime was)

fairly sure you can record your own property in the US. a lot of states are one party consent in much more ambiguous recording situations than recording your own property.

everywhere is getting like this though. "just call the police so we can do nothing, but so help you god if you actually act on your own behalf without our permission"
we are just economic livestock

fair assessment but despite news reports and fear mongering canada has castle doctrine

>>>Criminal Code (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-46)
>>34 (1) A person is not guilty of an offence if
>(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person;
>(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force; and
>(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances.
>(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:
>(a) the nature of the force or threat;
>(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force;
>(c) the person’s role in the incident;
>(d) whether any party to the incident used or threatened to use a weapon;
>(e) the size, age, gender and physical capabilities of the parties to the incident;
>(f) the nature, duration and history of any relationship between the parties to the incident, including any prior use or threat of force and the nature of that force or threat;
>(g) the nature and proportionality of the person’s response to the use or threat of force; and
>(h) whether the act committed was in response to a use or threat of force that the person knew was lawful.

a guy famously wallbanged a plainclothes RCMP officer and got off, to paraphrase, by saying that the RCMP officers did not announce themselves properly, so he thought it was a rival drug dealer and he genuinely feared for his life.

When i was laid off at my last job, my work laptop was covered with anime stickers. i had to ship it back to the company. I still think about the poor IT guy that has to deal with pealing oversized ganyu off the 5 year old macbook to this day
