Looking to do an upgrade to my current desktop, honestly really lost as this was a prebuilt gifted to me. The psu i swapped out since the old one fried up and the case is also one i bought since the glass for the last case shattered.

Its all stock fans and one i tore from the old case slapped ontop.

Dunno what to move forward.

Budget is about $2000 aud maxed at $3000 aud depending. Australia.

Use case wise, just gaming with lite bit of work. Don't really gaf about ray tracing so im fine switching to amd gpu's.

Interested in an mATX.

its been documented that am5 cpu work the best with 6000mhz cl30
higher mhz would lead to instability
higher cl would lead to longer cycles that the ram needs to do before sending data (slower ram essentially)
you could go with higher transfer speeds and/or lower latency but youll have to fiddle with it manually so it works with am5
6000mhz cl30 is practically guaranteed to work without any tweaks (theres a 1% chance it doesn't work but you could change the ram with the same specs and then it would work). for 6000 cl30 you only need to turn on expo profile in the bios (your mobo has to support expo as well as the ram kit you get)
that's the gist of it (from what I know) but you could also read about it further or watch videos that explains it simpler

Eh, it won't be of that level. RDNA 1 was shit because AMD had completely dropped the r&d ball for Radeon since 2012-2013 and it was a sudden jump from the shite Vega samsung/global foundries 14nm to TSMC 7nm process. They tried to cover 5-8 years of neglect within 2 and it showed. Meanwhile UDNA seems iterative on RDNA and CDNA, AMD has been heavily investing in GPU r&d since the AI boom in 2022 and the main difference from RDNA seems to be that they are trying to finally fix their shit productivity and AI to jump into whats now 95% of the GPU market. Worst case scenario it'll be a sidegrade from RDNA4 gaming wise but an upgrade in all AI shit, so like RTX 4000 -> RTX 5000

9700X is marginally better on a 1k$ graphic card. Pair it with an actually fairly-priced and good-value card like the 5070Ti or the 9700XT and the improvement in gaming is almost gone, let alone considering that the 265K is better in both single thread and multi thread performance and in most professional workloads than the 9700X. Don't get me wrong, I still think that the 9700X is a valuable cpu but I can't understand why the 267K isn't in the OP, since its current price is very competitive and makes it one of the best all rounder CPU available right now.

sounds like theres not enough current getting to the fans, check out the Voltage readings in BIOS in both set ups and see if one is lower. Also check the fan you removed separately to make sure it isnt fucky. If theres too low voltage then your PSU is either unable to supply enough power or its going bad, alternatively it could be that you are exceeding the max current that the mobo's fan header can output.

Just build my first PC using parts from an old pre-built PC and a bunch of second hand parts. Never built a PC before or even touched the inside components of one but I'm generally fairly tech savy and I know what a GPU and an HDD do and shit so I felt like sure I'll figure it out. Nothing came with manuals as it was all second hand so I just downloaded the motherboard manual to see what goes where and I skimmed through a Linus Tech tips video. So I plugged everything in correctly yadayadayada and I think I'm finished. I turn it on and nothing happens and it starts to smell funky.

Turns out psu cables are not interchangeable. I should have known this I guess but I somehow did not. I fried four SSDs. Luckily I happened to use the right cable on my GPU but fuck me. I even had a friend tell me in advance "hey btw make sure you don't use the old cables" but I thought it was like a recommendations instead of like life or death shit. I feel so retarded for having missed this but on the other hand it really goes against common sense that these cables can absolutely never ever be swapped even though they look the same and have the same connectors and will just go in without a problem, no other kind of cable in the world works like that.

The difference between the 42" and 55" in black levels is miniscule, like 0.24 cd/m2 vs 0.34 cd/m2.
The brightness benefit of the 55" comes from the MLA that the 42" don't have, which is pretty much a non-issue using the screen that close, since the MLA is made to focus light further, so the brightness doesn't drop as much when you sit further away from it.

Meanwhile the 42" close by has much higher DPI and can be used closer without that bad pixelation or having to turn your neck into a pretzel, at least that's my opinion.
For actual TV used I'd go for the 55" or 65" obviously.

so my motherboard is gigabyte A320m-s2h, ram is.. 2x8gb ddr4, power supply is Corsair vs650, CPU is Ryzen 5 5600, storage is m2 SSD, the GPU is AMD Radeon RX 5700XT

my issue is that while games that aren't graphically intensive are fine (e.g. paradox map painters), games like cyberpunk 2077 have issues with visual artifacting, for instance when the mouse is moved the borders will be filled with bright lighting momentarily, in other games random light artifacts will fill parts of the screen. Is this likely a case of a borked card, something else borked? Or are there well known issues with this card? I have tried using slightly older drivers but to avail, I tried using newest drivers, etc..
