Have another question about GPU upgrades for a blender enthusiast

A few days ago i was talking itt about which rtx card I should go for, and the 5070/5070ti are the 2 that I'm currently looking on saving for. But I'm wondering if saving an extra 200 to get the ti version instead of a regular 5070 would be worth the money.

was thinking about upgrading my old PC with a corsair frame 5000D and an intel arc B580. found out that the B580 needs something called re-BAR enabled in bios to run good, and I needed to update the B450 tomahawk max in order to activate re-BAR. updating to a recent bios version allowed enabling of re-BAR, but also caused HDMI audio to stop working. I tried a few fixes from the internet, but they didn't work. flashed bios back to the OG version and HDMI audio instantly worked again, but no ability to enable re-BAR obviously. I consider this a sign that my poorfag ass should hold on to the money

I don't have mobo hdmi out, it was the hdmi audio from the old RX470 that stopped working (while hdmi video still worked). was weird because in "windows settings > bluetooth and other devices", under "audio", the name of my monitor still showed up, even if it didn't show up in the list of sound output devices.

Is this worth £180? I have a 7800XT and a 7600X CPU, and game on a 1080p 24" 180 Hz monitor.

Is there much gain from going to a bigger screen and a higher res? My new work reimburses £100 for the purchase of a monitor, for home working, but I have total free choice. Not wanting to spend much more than £250. The monitor I currently use for gaming would replace my shitty old cheap monitor as a secondary.

You have literally no reason to go above 200m GMT Japshit, especially since this isn't even true GMT.

Are you using your PC case's front panel I/O to connect the headphone? This might be causing issues.
Try connecting headphones directly to the motherboard's audio jack on the back of your case.
If the case's front panel I/O is causing the issue, check the cable that routes to the motherboard and set it away from other cables.

This might not completely solve the issue, because the audio traces on the board may not be properly shielded.
This is a pretty common issue, and you might have to buy an external DAC + headphone amp.

>Until there is a "it just werks" build of linux that everyone can one click install, it will literally never be the main gaming OS
They are doing the benchmarks on a meme gaming centered distro your traditional Linuxtroon pukes looking at it that is literally just werks click and install and even come with steam and some general utility (firefox, mpv, password managers, 7zip, etc) pre installed and you can use Bazzar to have your "click and install" for whatever isn't preistalled
The issues of course remain
>some anticheat can't do their spyware shit so games with these cannot be run
>some games even without these anticheats might not run
>you are quite much restricted to AMD hardware only
>if you are doing some productivity you might need workaround if your softwares are not linux friendly
Maybe not this year but maybe by 2027 already gaming on Linux will be completly seamlessy like on Windows with these "gaming distros"

>>106716313
to be honest, I didnt even notice the 5090, the b850 would still be better because the gpu lanes are unmolested in those
you'd have to go msi only for x870e if you dont want any bifurcation on the gpu

Okay, this absurd. What the fuck is wrong with optimization nowadays? It clearly is an optimization problem, specifically and exclusively, because some games, like KCD2, for instance, look great and run great, while some like this sack of shit looks meh and runs like absolute shit. Borderlands 4 is Randy being Randy, but what on earth is motivating other studios to invest literally no effort into making their games actually run well on objectively good hardware like a 5070ti or a 9070xt? 100FPS is laughably bad results for those settings.

Alri lads?
I bought a cheap processor (i7 3770k) from eBay to upgrade my dad's pc (dell Inspiron 660) so it can get windows 11 but when I installed it the power light was just orange and it wouldn't turn on. I tried taking out the CMOS battery for a few mins then putting it back in and it didn't turn on after that either.
I'm not entirely sure if the processor is faulty, the extra power usage is too much for the power supply or if there is one other kind of issue.
I put the old processor back in and it's working fine.
Any ideas?

is the bios on that computer compatible with the cpu you are trying to install?

This is the most basic and fundamental question to answer.

why are ALL UE4 RT games still broken on POOMD (15 second macrostutters)
>>
>>106717449
The motherboard might need a bios update to support the new CPU
>>
>>106717462
Because ue4 RT games use a proprietary Nvidia RT library that favours Nvidia hardware to a great extent. It's super broken on AMD hardware and slightly broken still on intel hardware.
People shit on ue5 lumen all the time but the one thing it did right was to make RT vendor agnostic and work decently well on different GPU brands

Dear anon-kuns, could you help me out determining compatibility with a video file?
https://gofile.io/d/9aeOxy

downlod the crf 20 file and test if it drops frames on your computer. You need a 120hz monitor or it's going to report 50% frame drops on a 60hz.

I'm interpolating some of my favorite czech soap operas and I would like to know what hardware is capable of playing the videos properly.
On my rtx 5000 series it seems like it is at the edge of compatibility because I was getting some frame drops at higher bit rates on different clips.

I'm guessing nvidia 3000 series and lower will drop frames; AMD rx 6000 series and lower will drop frames?

Just realized ffmpeg made the files variable frame rate when they should be constant. Guess that is a bug to deal with.
>>
Could you help me pick one between these two builds?

Country: Italy

Tasks: heavy web and web applications' usage (Google Workspace, AI image and video online generators), light programming, maybe video editing, Blender and AI local image/video gen in the future on Linux, 2K gaming on Windows (or 1080p, depending on titles): I mostly play FPS games such as Team Fortress 2, Mordhau, Overwatch 2 but I'd love to try also Chivalry 2, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 and maybe even Marvel Rivals in the future.

Disclaimers: the shown prices include shipping fees. I know that Intel mobo will become obsolete soon, but the CPU isn't the part I'm looking forward to upgrading in the future anyways: what I might upgrade is probably only the GPU.

I do expect that it'll get usable within a few years at most, and we might even see GPU manufacturers start supporting such twin card arrangements in an official capacity (jk, nvidia wont do that unless threatened by AMD and AMD cant do that rn cause pre RDNA4 their frame gen is shitty poopy)

So the consensus is that the 5070 ti is a tad better than the 5070, but not enough to justify the extra $300 it'd cost over the 5070.

I think I'll just settle with the regular 5070 since it's still over 6x more powerful than the 6600xt I'm using.

nice. does it drop frames in your media player though? I find that video decode % isn't that useful of a stat.
I get 0 dropped frames on those clips with my 5080.
The fast decode tuning option seems to be junk with x265 because if you compare the clips the image quality is way worse.

I made an av1 version before the x265 and it dropped lke 8% of clips and could only run around 82 fps on my 5080.

Literally anything, keyboards can be way shittier than mice without causing an issue for you. I would spend the $30 on some Chinese mechanical keyboard, which is what I did 15 years ago and am still using) or if you really have no money, an old usb keyboard from a Dell office pc is either free or less than $10.

I am fantasizing about a budget build for my brother. but most gaming keyboards look tacky as hell. The logitech 203 is at least somewhat modest. I think $30 would be a fine price

Using latest mpv with hwdec=auto

The brand I bought at that price is called TOMOKO, but I don’t think they’re around anymore. Though this one has lasted for over a decade without any issues. Just buy whatever is in your price range. You can fuss about switch type and n-key rollover, but it really doesn’t matter. I also game on an old HP keyboard from the early 00’s with like 4-key rollover and it’s never an issue in shooter games.

Thanks. That's just what I wanted to see. I was worried the video would only be playable on rtx 5000 series.

I guess the next most relevant video decoder would be the intel igpu or amd igpu.

Are the B650 affected by the ASRock AM5 boards problems or is it only the B850/X870 ones? Or is it only the X3D CPU that are triggering these issues?
I wanted to pair an ASRock B650 Steel Legend board with a 9600X AMD CPU is it risky? I wanted the board to match the Intel B580 Steel Legend GPU but if it's too risky I'll just get another board.

>>106719886
yep seems correct

some tests to narrow down the issue:
https://github.com/CoolCmd/TestMem5
select the extreme profile and run for 30 minutes
https://www.ocbase.com
select CPU+RAM and run for 30 minutes
https://www.numberworld.org/y-cruncher/#Download
select stress test > VT3 and run for 30 minutes

these are just guesses but
if it fails quickly in TM5, it's probably an issue with the memory sticks or board
if it fails quickly or throws WHEA errors in OCCT CPU+RAM, it's probably an infinity fabric issue
if it fails quickly in VT3, it's probably a memory controller issue

you can also try small FFTs for like 30 minutes in prime95
this shouldn't touch the memory at all, it operates entirely out of the L3 cache
if this fails it's probably an issue with the CPU cores

Faggots report dying CPUs even with the newest UEFI.

maybe check inside case that there is no dust
check power cord seats power
check for hdmi going to tv and tv antenna ground loop
maybe add overvoltage suppressor to power extender
>>
>>106720244
I don't recommend any specific board because it all depends on what you need.
As long as you get good enough IO there is no much difference between many of the models.
VRM doesn't matter much for AM5 unless you buy super-low end.
B650 boards will most likely need UEFI update before you will be able to POST.
So at around $150 you can find some ATX boards, just avoid A620 or B840 chipsets.
Just check the reviews for most common issues.
