Removing all AMD cards is inciting a brand war. Whether you should buy any components from any vendor is always dependent on local pricing.

Budget is 1 month's savings if you work at Costco
>>
>>106944108
It's so easy too.

Take your budget, and if there's an Arc card, get that, failing that, get the AMD card, failing that, get the nvidia (vomit) one.

I wanted to get a 2nd monitor, I currently have a Dell G2724D. I don't think Dell sells them anymore and I can't find anyone else selling it for a decent price. What're some monitor that are equivalent? I don't really care about having multiple input ports on it like USB or an audio jack, nor do I care about speakers in a monitor. I also don't mind using IPS still instead of OLED.

Should I get the Meshify 3 or the XL variant? I have a Meshify S2 which is like the XL variant of the OG Meshify, so I'm cautious about downsizing. The 3 XL is not only pretty overpriced, I can get the full RGB version of the regular Meshify 3 locally for pretty damn cheap. Realistically I don't have the need for the full space of the S2 as-is, but the regular size 3 makes me worry with its clearance for PSUs since I will need to upgrade in the near future and I don't even know what I'm going to need just yet.

the 7800x3d is probably the sweet spot on performance/price right now, you should be able to get a decent b650 mobo and 32 ram on those 500 pounds
There is right now a scare on ddr5 ram price (just check the posts above yours). Usually i would advice to wait for black friday but if the cpu is already on sale (since you mentioned the price) might be worth it to pull it now in case ram keeps climbing, hard to say

i am and i dont like just soending hundreds on parts all the time. bought a prebuilt 1050 in like 2016, then a orebuilt 2060 build and have changed all parts, had a 3060ti and now am5070ti. soent so much it needs to slow down or at least have hardware last more than 2 years. i get 30fps playing iracing with a i7 10700 and a 5070ti.
>>
>>106946931
awesome, thinking im going to need a cooler unless i can get some bracket for my arctic aio for lga 1200. might just get the cpu and wait till my bday in feb to get the rest.
>>
>>106946955
well can't check prices right now but on my last post my idea was 260 for cpu and then 120 for each mobo and ram, can't check cause pcpartpicker is down and i have no idea of UK prices, if you also need a cooler then yeah its probably better if you can scrounge another 100 or so for the cooler and to spruce the mobo and ram.
>>
>>106946931
also, is the b650 the bottom tier above the h boards? i have a b550 atm and think i could spare a little more to get the next better one. its going to actually be a good pc with oc abilities so wouldnt mind a mobo to enable that kind of thing.

motherboards are a touchy subject, even more so on this thread
basically you want to spend as little as you can on the mobo while getting every feature you might need
For most people here that means a mid tier b650 or b850, since you just want to play vidya and watch porn. Usually people that need a more feature heavy mobo already have in mind a list of what they need, stronger wifi, faster/more usb ports, more lanes etc
If you are weary of picking a b650 due to it being lower on the totem pole we can find a decent b850, it just all adds up.
>>

pcpartpicker is back up
pic rel is 546 bongdollars, you can drop 15 or so on getting a b650 instead but i picked an b850 since you were a bit worried of picking the lower tier tech which would take it to 530 pounds. Keep in mind that you might need to flash the bios on the mobo before it recognizes the 7800x3d, depending on the revision of the mobo you end up with.
You would need a cooler which will be another 30-45 pounds depending the model. So it goes a bit above the first idea of 500 £
The 7800x3d seems to be 345£ so if you can get it at 260 you probably should nab it now (if you are sure of then finishing the build) as i dont see a world when it drops 80£ on price out of the blue.
Let me know if i can help you with anything further

Classic sign of bugged NVME firmware. You shut down PC but the NVME itself fails to shutdown until you power cycle the thing. When you dont power cycle the controller accumulates poop data and never flushes it. At best it slows down the PC at worst it prevents it from booting. Next time don't buy mystery meat controllers.

AMD wanted to charge way more before Nvidia came out with a much lower MSRP than they thought. Remember the cards sat on the selves for months before sale while AMD waited to see what Nvidia would do.

>>
>>106948459
I guess they thought Nvidia would sell the 5070ti for even more than that. Nvidia shocked everyone with the lower than expected MSRP this gen, I just wish both they and AMD could stick to it. I guess it’s better now. I agree $900 would have been crazy.
>>
>>106948459
Prices fluctuate wildly for GPUs even for same model number. 5080 ranges from $899 to $1399. 9070xt is $599-899
>>
>>106948473
That's above Nvidia levels of greed, even. Their chip costs no more to make than the 7800xt because of it's gddr6 and 360mm2 die size and they would be getting a decent profit margin even at $500 let alone $700
>>
>>106948492
Their process node is more advanced than Nvidia this gen, so there’s some cost there as well. But overall, I agree and am glad they came to their senses before launch.

Never say never, Anon. It'd be better to have the space and not use it than to need the space and not have it. Plus building and cable managing in an M-ATX case is a pain. I'd only go for one if it's happens to be cheaper than the equivalent ATX case.

I just had a thought. If non-conductive paste or any soft material can be put inside of a socket and not impede the function of the CPU, why not fill that socket with some kind of soft insulator padding then? A rubber or silicone like substance that can compress a little to conform to the pins bending under mounting pressure, but firm enough that it works as essentially an anti-pin-bending gel. Then if anything falls inside the socket it can be easily cleaned out without worrying about pin damage besides the exposed tips.
>>
>>106948755
>Which DELL Optiplex should [I] get
Ideally you want one with a 7th gen i7 or better (i.e. ≥4c8t). Try to get one with standard ATX parts but more recent models will most likely be proprietary.

>and which low profile GPU should I put in it?
The best card that runs off slot power alone is the 3050 6GB but do be aware that some models require supplemental power.
If your PSU happens to have PCIe power you can go up to a 5050 or maybe 5060 (or used 4060, 6600, etc.). Not much point going higher because a new PSU will eat up all your savings.
The 1650 non-super is worth a mention if you can't afford the other options.
>>
>>106948824
Signal integrity. When you add layers like that you're degrading the electrical signals which can lead to performance issues at best or non working CPUs at worst.

Followup on the glitching RX 7900 XTX from a few days ago.
I did as suggested, tried all DP ports. The green glitching remains.
HDMI seems to not have the green glitching, but occasioanlly blackscreens, and sometimes appears to not have signal at all..
The card is not stable at all, system tends to freeze after less than a minute.

With linux the same things happens. Once any kind of graphics driver loads, the card produces a corrupted signal. Please note that I have no clue how to linux.

What makes me think it's VRAM instead of GPU was this: Loading into World of Warships made the glitches disappear. Things were stable for several minutes until I alt-tabbed out of the game.

Anyway. replacement 9070 XT is ordered, roughly the same performance and avoiding the 12VHPW for another few years.
I will look into finding a GPU repair shop. Anybody know one in Germany?

Purpose is numerical simulation workstation on extreme budget.
location is former soviet satellite in EU (understand shitty hw availability and low salaries)
I have opportunity to buy 2nd hand xeon workstation with E5 2683 V3 CPU and 256GB ecc ram (DDR4 2133 MHz) for under 500e (excluding GPU).

both the PS6 and new xbox will run amethyst which will be fully able to take advantage of this tech and promise path tracing capable machines, You can look at the finals or arc raiders, that shit is running the worst engine on earth the unreal engine 5 but the RTX branch of unreal engine 5 which properly utilize the RT cores and you have basic hardware like 5060 TI running (Native) DLAA at 1440p and hitting 60 fps with epic settings and dynamic epic RTX

So basically PS6/XBox 6 games should be able to take current advantage of blackwell so 2027?

I guess it'll depend on devs, but since game optimization has been in the shitter for so long I don't have high hopes.

on a sidenote, do you think 5070ti and 9070xt prices will be lower come ~Jan2026? 9070XT models were hitting MSRP finally but they've gone up a bit now. Feels like the Super announcement should tank prices a bit, but MSRP should happen soon regardless

>>
>>106950803
In my experience if you dont care about AI or need the extra vram this is the best time to buy, maybe right until november, during christmas and when super comes out the prices are probably gonna go up again.
>>
>>106950803
Prices won't go down significantly enough to wait for discounts, especially for the 5070 Ti.
NVIDIA may have even stopped making those chips by now to ramp up 5070 Ti Super GPU production.
Super is rumored to have the same core configuration, it will probably have a slightly higher guaranteed boost clock (sub +200MHz).

>>106950855
I don't think the Super is going to be available at any reasonable price until probably mid-late 2026 if this year was an indicator of how things go, but like I said, no rush to buy GPU so I can sit and wait out
>>
>>106950886
Odds are not in your favor if you think the 5070 Ti will get further discounts, it's the most commonly recommened GeForce card of this gen if you're not considering a 5090.
Maybe some of the overpriced cards might go down closer to $800, but don't expect any discounts below the base MSRP.
>>
>>106950886
Well if you can wait until next gen there is no reason to upgrade anyway, most games are targettring 2027 for the new console and you'll be able to see how easy is to implement the new tech they are promising across the next year

Introspection is often more challenging for autistic individuals due to differences in interoception, the sense of the internal state of the body. Difficulty in interpreting internal bodily signals, such as a racing heart or tense muscles, can make it harder to identify emotions, leading to issues with self-regulation, emotional awareness, and a potential link to conditions like alexithymia (difficulty identifying and describing emotions).

Thats fine, just making sure you did your homework
I personally have 2tb nvme that i use for windows and programs (read games) and then a 1tb SSD i kept from my previous rigs that is jut for storage in case i ever need it, for movies and shit. 4TB is a lot
The cpu is a matter of taking advantage of the x3d or not, and frankly x3d is a very esoteric concept, but seems to be widely accepted that is mainly used on big ass city builders, long campaigns of strategy games, mmos that have to load a lot of players at once and CS2.

For the case the phanteks the other anon mentioned is perfectly fine if a bit bottom of the ladder.
I would check a montech air 903 which is always very well recommended in these threads. Either way check if your case will need extra fans or even consider switching the stock fans if they are molex for pwm fans

I apologize if this is the incorrect place for this. I'm trying to fix my mother's home PC which she wishes to use to work from home on some days. It was built a few years ago - I don't remember when exactly - and was used for a little while without issue before she started to use a laptop in a different room as her machine of choice. For whatever reason the machine was left idle for about a year, then was switched off.

>Specs
Ryzen 5 3600 XT
2060 Super
Asus Prime X570-P
Aorus 32GB RAM. Unsure of model, speed CL timing etc
M.2 SSD
Win 10
2 Dell business monitors

>Symptoms
Motherboard LED glows fine when PSU is switched on
When main on/off switch is turned on, all fans, CPU graphics case mobo, spin up as normal. RAM LEDs glow.
Monitors do not detect signal from PC. It seems as though they attempt to, as they don't display a message about going into idle mode if no source is recieved while plugged in, but simply say that no signal is recieved from the source.
NO POST BEEPS. There have been no POST beeps of any kind during each power on.

>Attempted fixes
Disconnecting all peripherals and running only with PSU power in and video cable(s)
Attempted 2x DP, 1x DP on each monitor by itself, 1x HDMI on each monitor by itself, all plugging into graphics card. Same result each time. Also attempted HDMI into mobo but I know the processor doesn't have graphics
Reseating RAM
Running only a single stick of RAM in case the other is bad, and swapping
Above but in different slots
Reseating graphics card
Removing CMOS battery and leaving it out for ~20 minutes before reinserting

>Things I haven't tried, yet
Seating graphics card into different PCI slot
Using different internal cables

>Other
I've tried plugging her laptop into the monitors via HDMI and it displays without issue

Please help

Seems like you've done most of the standard troubleshooting already. I'd say to leave it on for 10 minutes in case it's just retraining the RAM. If that fails update the BIOS (assuming it has Flashback). Then a full rebuild just in case something got loose. If it still doesn't work you're looking at swapping in components (or taking it to a shop).
