Are 4 core 8 thread CPUs like the i3-12100 obsolete or viable for an ultra budget "second PC for Linux" setup? I can get a combo deal with that CPU + 2x8GB DDR4-3200 + H610 MOBO for 140 euro.

>>107011891Both 7800x3d and 9800x3d went back to MSRP because there's zero competition from Intel. Intels best CPU uses double the power, lacks proper AVX512, and still loses to X3D in games. Until rival competes you will deal with retarded prices just like 5080 costing $1200-1400.

>>107012087Yes that has house fire connector. Also avoid all Nvidia GPUs because of unresolved driver issues on Windows 10/11 and Linux. You sound like you hate nonstop troubleshooting so avoid Nvidia. Some retard here will argue all day but you're smarter than that. 9070xt just works on Windows and Linux no driver problems today and it doesn't have the fire connector if you buy various models.Hope you actually listen and don't just shit yourself like other Aspergers here.

>>107012177Kind of biased desu, but thanks for the reply>>107012218Yeah, more than money it's a space issue really, I have a shelf that limits height at 54 cm (or aprox 21 inches) and the depth is around the same distance so a bigger monitor would be too much, rn I use a 24 inches 1080p monitor for work and I feel like it's at the right limit dimension wiseFor the 90 series I don't really have the need for one, 800 euros for a gpu is kind of the upper limit since i would just use it for my free time/hobbies and not work, feels like a waste otherwise>>107012227I see thanks, but still since the 70 ti has a way lower power consumption than the 90 it should be fine, right?
>>107012291>800 euros for a gpu is kind of the upper limit since i would just use it for my free time/hobbies and not workIf you were using it for work it better be supplied by your employer. I don't get this line of thinking. It should be like this,>for hobbyyou pay>for workyour boss pays
>>107012291>>107012321No it's not fine because you have melting connector regardless and driver issues that you cannot resolve either. Use your head. Don't buy a GPU full of hardware and software problems (5000 series). The only people willing to deal with this shit are datacenters because they have more money than sense. If you want something that just works hardware or Windows/Linux software you buy AMD. not Intel or Nvidia. It's 2025 TODAY not 2008-2015 wake the fuck up.
>>107012325Describe one (uno (ichi (1))) Nvidia GPU driver issue, that can be replicated, and is not some extreme edge case that people buying a 5060 Ti or 5070 for gaming will never notice.
>>107012291>I have a shelf that limits height at 54 cm (or aprox 21 inches)so it would fit>and the depth is around the same distance so a bigger monitor would be too much24 and 27 are like literally almost the same
>>107012291>I see thanks, but still since the 70 ti has a way lower power consumption than the 90 it should be fine, right?Well obviously lower power should lower the chance, and there have been some advances on the connectors themselves but there seems to have been cases with any and all cards that use that connector, but yes higher wattage cards seems more prone. There are some advice floating around to help prevent it as in not bending the cable too close to the connector, making sure its fully seated blablablaYou should probably google info on cases where a 5070 or similarly consuming card has had problems with that connector to get a less biased opinionThis thread is usually useful except for gpu since we have a few retards on the loose shitting any discourse about gpuFor whatever is worth come hell or high water im picking a 5070TI myself this black friday to update my 3060TI
>>107012339Wuthering Waves still crashes nonstop but AMD GPUs even when spoofing as an Nvidia card to run the RT settings are 100% stable

>>107012450I can confirm this is realWuthering Waves consistently crashes on me after an hour and a half of playing. Umamusume: Pretty Derby has weird rendering glitches and artifacts. Zenless Zone Zero and Blue Archive are the worst, they straight up don't work and crash a minute after I start them. I've tried DDU, taking out the card and reseating it, fresh windows install, everything. My 5070 ti is literally incapable of rendering Gacha games so I'm switching to a 9070 XT as soon it gets here in the mail this week. Hopefully I can sell the 5070 ti for most of my money back on FB marketplace. Worst GPU I've ever owned because I had RDNA 1 and at least they actually fixed the driver issues eventually with that one.
>>107012321I don't see how that goes against what I said, never said I wanted free shit, but I decide how much I want to pay for things>>107012385Maybe you are right, I should go see some monitors in person to evaluate better, thanks>>107012432>This thread is usually useful except for gpu since we have a few retards on the loose shitting any discourse about gpuI know man, been lurking for a month now, the thing is I have decided on pretty much everything but the gpu (or more like the model of the gpu, 50 euros more over 750 is not much for better quality after all)Also you always reply with advice, most solid recognizable poster itt

>>107012585There might be something with the shitty coding of gacha games that Nvidia cards don't like because I play Nikke on a Radeon and didn't have a crash for at least a year, but others keep complaining about frequent crashes and most people probably use nvidia cards.
no seriously what the fuck did he mean by this? he said it so proudly on stage too. "5070 = 4090!"
>>107012784this board needs accounts nowjust troll farms spamming years old topics to drown out anything constructive
>>107012777nvidia needs to flush their shader cache more often than amd. it fucks with a lot of games if you leave the cache dirty. google it how nvidia has lots of cache issues. you rarely see anyone telling you "go delete your shader cache" for AMD.
>>107012800no seriously tho wtf did he mean by that. he stood on stage with conviction and yelled that 5070 is equal to 4090.
>>107012784He was alluding to Blackwell cards having more frame generation.
>>107012815Interesting. Just got confirmation from someone who has constant crashes that he has a 4070ti. So maybe the 90 cards don't crash because more cache?
>>107012827He meant that you get the issues of a 4090 for the price of a 5070.
so everybody buying amd cards are the gacha spammers of /v/?another win for nvidia
>>107012800I'm helping out my cousin after his backyard was struck by lightning, frying his router+modem surprisingly enough. His motherboard's ethernet port seems like it was fried as well, unable to really get anything out of any sort of testing with it. Are there any simple, small networking cards anyone can recommend? He's fine with replacing his motherboard since it'll likely need it but I'm going to ask anyways.
>>107013426Nice cope. But quickly flush your cache!
>>107013536depending on the board, you can just buy a pcie-ethernet/lan card and plug that in, but some modern boards don't have the socket setup for it anymore.

>>107013869I said plasma not blood you goobers. It's different, they might pay you for plasma wherever you are as well.
>>107013876Nah they dont pay for plasma either here, its literally illegaleven private clinics can't offer compensation and they have to use (and pay for) the blood from the national blood banks (to which we donate our blood) which in turn helps ever so slightly to fund the public health

Saving this for black friday as a "template" i will then search for offers on similar parts.Anything that looks terrible? Only thing im debating is getting an AIO with a little smart screen on it to monitor cpu/gpu temp instead of the air coolerSo yeah not looking for specifc parts replacement (that will depend on black friday prices) just if anything in there is a down right retard decision.

>>107013907In my experience, LG C1 works very well as a monitor.
>>107013904I need less motherboard...Honestly, I have no fucking clue what defines a good motherboard. I do Zbrush work and that's a hungry little guy.
>>107013907>I just discovered that OLED TVs are sometimes half the price of a PC monitorI think you've been smoking too much of the ganga. Pretty sure that is very not true. A middling oled tv is at least 1k+, you can get a very good oled monitor for less than 1k.
>>107013935Alright thats fine on the ram but the motherboard I think a b850 is more than enough. Unless you NEED a 40gb USB which I doubt you do.
>>107013893>X870EThere's practically no benefit compared to just B850 unless you know you need all that extra storage. And you should want better latency RAM instead of that much capacity. Gen 5 SSD also seems overkill if you're a normal user.

>>107014274Both those and top end 55" oleds are in fact CHEAPER than what the PG32UCDM and other monitors were launched at on sales periodsa G4 55" can right now be had at the same price as a PG27UCDMpeople are buying these monitors just fineyou can buy open box samsungs even cheaperin fact I could buy a 77" B4 oled for cheaper than a PG27UCDM here just a second agothe size discrepancy is monumental, not even closeTVs have predictable and consistent sale periods when they rotate out every time, monitors are a messif you want better value, get a C series or even B now, or S90F later, especially makes sense if you go even larger sizesthis is for people obviously going for 1k+ displaysif you are even poorer you can buy a second hand used oled tv for most likely dirt cheaper a few hundred bucks, just review it and check so it's not completely burned in and fried and have a lines of dead pixels all over, if you wanna deal with thatbig oled tv = same price tier as oled monitors, really is that simple>>107014398is this the new cucked version of the 240->480 dual mode?if that's lgs home page don't remember to stack discount codes from discount sites/student benefitsjust buy the 240hz one>Samsung G8 34 inch monitor? ultrawide? or the old one? 32" ?>>107014437>I have a matte screen protectorhow horrifying
I started playing Bald Gays 3 again after dropping it back in 2023 because it was too confusing and difficult. Runs really nicely on my 5070, all settings at Ultra and native 1440p DLAA. So far 120-180 FPS depending on the scene in the first 2 or so hours of the game. Makes sense, because it's "technically" a 2019 or so game? Like it was in early access or had a demo back then or something, and it's still using graphical tech from back then. From what I've read the 3rd arc of the game is heavily CPU dependant for performance? Will my R5 9600 struggle there?
>>107014317they're pretty much the same as Asus GPUs. same parent company. prime = challenger, tuf = phantom gaming/steel legend, strix = taichi
i want to stop using 4 of my HHDs cause the new computer case doesnt support many and i need more space and convenience of 1 drive.. is Seagate BarraCuda Desktop 24TB 7200rpm 512MB (ST24000DM001) good enough to store files such as images/videos/mp3s/recordings? its very cheap 400$ for 24TB. not looking for anything too loud.
>>107014477its received several patches since 2023 that made performance better because consoles/handhelds have weak cpus. its fine now mostly but vulkan mode will still give you better fps in act 3 because its less cpu bound than dx11. but if you're purely gpu bound then dx11 comes ahead because nvidias vulkan driver sucks ass compared to amd.
>>107014472Yup, meant the 32 inch Samsung one.>>107014409No 32 inch tandem oled monitors scheduled as far as I know, and I cannot wait another year for a monitor.
Honestly the biggest difference between buying a PC and console is the future-proofing. You buy a base PS5 back in 2020-2021 and you know you are getting 5+ years of support for the latest AAA games.Meanwhile, you buy a PC and spec it so it can handle what you currently want to play - there's no guarantee that next year a game might not work on it for an arbitrary reason.

>>107014559im euro with high tax
>>107014497do you need the hdd to be on 24/7Id just have it be external and fire it up through usb whenever I need to use it
>>107014537>Yup, meant the 32 inch Samsung one.only buy on big salesG80SD has smart os which is kinda ass and a blacking out bug intermittently if using display port, but speakers and a controller (will make you realize taking the TV Pill might actually be better)G81SF has a very heavy matte coating that looks like ass (allegedly) and potential breakage of the configuration nipple in the back but no black screening due to no tizen oswhy Samsung vs LG though?both have better alternatives in market, like Asusgood if buying cheap, the old 240hz 4k LG is now cheaper
>>107014587no but i want to access stuff on the fly throughout the day so having to plug in the external seems like a pain.
>>107014596but whyyou dont actively use several TB of data
>>107014547When a PS5 Pro enthusiast is blown away at how much better picture quality and fps a RTX 5050 delivers with a 14600k cpu and is light years better than the ps5 pro, it really shows how shitty the consoles arethis is after extensive use gaymen and testing on a 77" LG C4this tells me everything I need to know how bad console picture quality and frames are
>>107014591>Why Samsung vs LG though?I need a monitor with thin borders and no branding. The Asus for instance has that big ugly block at the bottom of the screen. If you could take it off I'd consider it.
>>107014537Unless you stare at a lot of pure white on-screen all the time, the QD-OLED is gonna be better since that 32GX850A is based on the old 3rd Gen WOLED panel before Tandem was introduced:https://tftcentral.co.uk/articles/exploring-oled-brightness-improvements-woled-vs-qd-oled-and-the-need-for-new-metrics-and-specsIt's not just about content brightness, the SPD values of WOLED's emitted range are less narrow meaning the colors they display are also less pure:https://www.rtings.com/monitor/learn/woled-vs-qd-oled#colorsNot to mention Smasung's OLED fabs have less uniformity issues than LG does which would be exacerbated on a larger sized screen.
>>107014559
>>107014658>I need a monitor with thin borders and no brandingfor what reasons? autism reasons only? I mean I agreeor you can even consider a TV if you can go larger, that's even cleaner, like a C4 42"if not then I guess LG is cleaner, Samsung is a better panelthe LG 240hz 4k has better settings and less hassle software > G81SF with peeled coating or enjoy the heavy matte shit > G80SD smarttv shit and use hdmi because dp is buggyif infinite budget I would not get any of them though
>>107014625While this is true, a lot of people prefer buying a console once and being set for this generation by default. If an average PC from 2020 has to tweak settings and play around with DLSS presets, a PS5 gamer can guarantee a 1080p30 experience with good graphics by selecting Quality mode. And a lot of PS5 players are fine with that level of performance....even if the box back in 2020 promised 8k60 and 4k120

>>107014708point is consoles are hardcapped at shit qualities and even tvs have exceeded it by alot at 4k120+at larger sizes picture quality starts mattering more, both pixels and hzconsoles are firmly a poorfag thingif you wanna use good displays good everything literally you are forced into pcI am looking for reasons to buy one but there's only for exclusives and there are literally none worthy of them either almost
>>107014701Yes it's for autism reasons. If I spend almost 1k on a monitor I want it to look clean. >If infinitive budget...What would you get then?
>>107014710you should def wait for the 9950x3d2
>>107014758I mean even if the pg32ucmd(z)/r has a chin it looks relatively clean stillas you can see Samsung has silver bordervalid reasons to sperg out with bothLG monitor has a matte coating, built in fan, but less branding? I guess. it's worse in all other regards though except 480hz dual modeand Asus Truegloss is already out, same panel as LG just better coating>What would you get then?G5 tvs are more minimal and less branding lol, if you were okay with 165hz to start with you are also gonna be okay with 165hz on a TV
>>107014710ask the prebuilt PC general
Nvbros it wasn't supposed to be like this....
