You can definitely tell the difference between real 1440p and fake 1440p (DLSS quality). It's 1707x960 which is less than 1080p. Lots of game effects depend on exact resolution scaling like 1080p or 720p and 1707x960 is a awkward resolution that breaks a lot of effects.

- I'll be either dual booting Windows and Debian or using either one of these two (Yes I know Linux has trouble supporting NVIDIA cards in general)

Budget: About a 1000 I don't want to spend more because I have no use going upward.

It can be made a little tighter if needed but not much. Went with an AMD card since i have no idea about linux but people always mentions that nvidia cards punch down on linus. For your budget is also about as good as a card you gonna get, if you want to use an nvidia card check the price difference on a 5060TI

That depends how they tested it, writes will be always slower and size of the files matter a lot. But reads should be around 7GB/s.
So either the drive is running at gen3 speeds because it's plugged into the wrong m.2 or it's misconfigured in the UEFI.

Just got this monitor delivered today from a recommendation of an anon here earlier this month. While connected to displayport to get 240hz it was barely working, now flickers when moved or at random occasionally, while hdmi is perfectly fine. While looking for answers online seems like a common trend. Probably going to return to get the VG27AQM5A for the hdmi 2.1 if there arent any solutions. Already tried different ports, blowing on them, switching them around, updating drivers including the monitors one from Asus's website. Has anyone experienced something like this before?

What's the easiest RTX 5080 card to mod?
I'm thinking of doing pic related (Noctua fans + custom shroud). I hate how most GPUs look nowadays and just want one that's silent and boring looking.
The founders 5080 looks nice but is too loud. I'm on a 3080 FE and don't want to get another loud card.

That's a difficult order to pull off for that low of a budget. I threw together something that would be pretty damn decent without digging into refurb/open box/used markets, but it still came out above budget without factoring in tax. You could probably cheapen it by cutting corners on the GPU (I picked a good budget option), but there isn't much room to play with. It's also assuming you're going to reuse the case and PSU as well as all connected devices.

There's the usual shopping around, putting more time deal hunting. You already mentioned being willing to go with used items off ebay, so a refurb/open box variant of components could do you well for extending what you can get.

DDR4 isn't worth at this point unless you see a good combo or something. 12100 would also be a decent upgrade from a 4770 or whatever you're using if you're trying to make it even cheaper. 12600k you're better off with an aio (which are cheap now) but you could make a tower cooler work.
8gb is getting kind of annoying even at 1080p, but you want (need) dlss, so I would do either a 3080 or a 2080ti, which I'd say is the cheapest gpu that is genuinely still decent to use.

The biggest problem I see in the current hobby is this idea that you must have enough to pay for a certain tier of components or it's not worth it. You also have retards like LTT that hate low end new components and try to justify complicating things by buying used instead.
My first PC was all brand new, an i3 2120, gtx 550 ti, 1.5tb hdd and 4gb of RAM. Probably wasn't the most cost optimized thing in the world at $600 for the time but I loved everything about it. Hard to say if I would have been happier with anything else.
