What it does:

i hope to be able to have my own company created by next year
been working for my employer for like 8 years now and its been pretty good, but i've kind of hit the salary ceiling for a software engineer in this company, and its in some ways comically low, €4600 per month
i think i could charge like €80 per hour as a consultant with a similar assignment, so between like €13-14k per month, essentially doubling my income (leaving some in the company for sickness/vacation/no assignments)

If the worker can't do the job because they're not skillful enough, then whether or not they are friendly and sociable doesn't matter. At the end of day, you still need to deliver results. A bad programmer might be able to scam a few people and even get a high ranking position, but they'll run out of luck eventually.

I’m really frustrated with developers who can’t admit when they’re wrong and resist constructive feedback.
I have one colleague in particular whose pull requests often need improvement.
When I politely point out issues and suggest better implementations, he dismisses my comments and reacts as if I personally attacked him.
Even simple suggestions aren’t accepted in the current review but are instead sneaked in as if they were his own ideas in later commits.
I’ve encountered similar attitudes in open source communities too, to the point where I’ve lost motivation to contribute. Fuck that.
