I don't understand what is going on in this job market. I got a decent resume and portfolio according to the people who have looked over them. My previous employers have always been fairly happy with me, typically saying I do good work and am open to feedback and growth if a bit introverted, yet it's taking me so long to find a job that the government is sending a job coach my way because I've been trying by myself for the past months and failing. I don't send out an application to everything that I see online, I only apply to jobs that I think would be a good fit for me with a personalized cover letter and slightly tweaked resume. I even tell the company in my letter why I specifically applied to them to show I'm not some idiot sending applications to any place I see online with a generic AI-written letter. It doesn't matter, in the past 5 months I've only gotten two interviews and no offers. I don't even know if anyone reads anything, seeing as I've had online/phone chats where they just asked me to repeat what I put in my cover letter. Why do you even want to chat to "get to know me" before the interview?It never took me this long to find a job, even in the beginning of my career, and I refuse to lower my low standards any further.
