>good opportunity for growth as a person
From my experience is that if you join the military it elevates your personality in so that if you are a good hard working person you hone in that skill to be better at it. If you are a shit bag then you learn how to be a bigger shit bag. If you are a good manager then once you make the rank you become a better manager.

Experience wise you learn alot more outside of your career to include management skills so you end up becoming a much more capable worker than what you normally see in the civilian world. You can emulate this as a civilian by learning alot of subjects, books, free training or bootcamps, college ect. But most people just focus on the one job that they have and specialize. That variety of experience is why a prior soldier would get picked up over a civilian not to mention just showing up on time is a virtue that the military harps about with consequences.

Cyber Warfare Operations is hard pick up the book for CEH, Sec+, Cloud+, Server+ and Network+. Also A+/Tech+ if you are lacking skills. You really need Sec+ but they give you that in the military btw. Pre learn all of those books and you will be fine for that crazy hard career field.

Military is like an office job if you include PT for 1 hour before work and another hour and 30 mins after work. You are just more busy throughout the day compared to most civilian jobs with random shit and the occasional training opportunity every 3 months that the bosses give out to the smart kids. I probably spent 6 months worth of time doing extra training during my 4 years.

I had an interview recently where they also wanted me to do a little project according to a spec in advance. I think it went OK but what I had not expected was that they then wanted me to discuss in detail how I would make all kinds of changes to it to support more features. So I had to improvise right on the spot. I don't know about your task but my advice is to prepare for what they might want you to change about it.

Gambling is insanely predatory, a lot of people are uncomfortable designing software that basically feeds into addictions. Same as working at a porn company or any other company that produces controversial shit.

I would be super fucking proud to work in the porno business. I don't know how I'd explain it to my wife though. Gambling? Fine I guess why not. I will not work for a company with politics I disagree with or especially for politicians I disagree with though.

>read threads from the same subreddit from a few months ago and every post is saying it's impossible to find a job now and the job market is dead
It's like a switch flipped and the entire market just suddenly imploded in the span of a year or two. How did all of this happen so fast? And why doesn't the broader public care about the fact that America's last remaining prosperous industry is dead now? Is everyone just content with the fact that the future of America is everyone doing 3rd world tier labor for minimum wage and relying on government welfare to survive?

I'm looking through job listing on wellfound and why is every salary either >140k or <15k? Everyone either wants overpaid Americans or cheap 3rd world labor. Why not just hire Americans and pay them an average salary? You'll automatically eliminate all the liars, cheaters and sociopaths who are only in it for the money and you'll just have good hardworking white men who want to do honest work applying, meaning way less applications to sift through and a higher caliber talent pool. How are all these companies so dumb not to realize this?

Naw, I worked for a mid sized consulting firm for a decade before this last place going to random customers in a bunch of industries, mostly Fortune 500 and .gov type places. Boring but effective. I jumped off that ship for a much higher salary and more chill work environment to the startup, and I can say it was the most fun I've had at work. I will probably shoot for another high pay high performance small company next time around. I was spoiled with not having to touch Windows VPN AD corpo shit these last few years and I don't wanna go back to that.

Tbh I'd rather work insanely hard half the year and then not touch a computer the other half. I should figure out how to hound down contracts and do independent consulting stints.

Interviewed at a company that I looked up on Glassdoor before. Someone mentioned that the company sucks and there was high turnover.

Figured it was overblown but then in the technical interview the guy mentioned he'd only been there for three months. Surely he's not even off probation yet.
>>
>>107056841
If you ever hop jobs, negotiate the removal of the probation period from the contract. Probation is like begging to have your back stabbed. Also ask for 3 months of severance in the contract even if you get fired within 2 months so they think twice about treating you like trash.
>>
>>107056830
Looked into that, but I'm an autistic loner who never talks to anyone and they need people to be able to vouch for you in order to give you a security clearance. I've also burned all my bridges with past employers so can't use them as references either.
>>
>>107056866
Generally everyone he gets 4–6 months of probation and generally people don't get thrown out in that time. Companies generally suck at recruiting and don't wanna keep doing it again and again.

I appreciate the advice anon. I do think I'm a hard worker, just temporarily demoralized due to working a dead end teaching job that I hate. Once I get something that can actually advance my career I'm raring to go.

Regardless this seems like my best bet and I suspect people will be desperately trying to get these military tech roles as more job cuts happen and less entry level positions are available to new grads.

I view this as a safe option so that I can wait out the market for 4 years without becoming unhireable and see how things look in 2030. If the job market is completely decimated in 2030 then I'll do my full 20 if that's still possible.

I've heard some tech jobs in the military don't do shit. I've talked to some Space Force cyber guys in particular and they say their job is literally just staring at a computer screen and waiting for an alert to pop up. People read books and play MTG while waiting. Seems like a waste of 4 years though.

Boomers are so optimistic that they resign to up skill and think the gap in the resume won't hurt them.

I think there's a reason (parents of) students at top schools usher them into MBB consulting, high finance, or family-network roles over

Going the big tech FAANG engineer route from a top USA university is highly profitable and even fairly common, but I wouldn't say it is the dominant campus "aspiring professional" culture at these institutions

Engineering can leave you alone laid off for some offshoring reasons. it's not aristocratic in that nature.

Alright let's discuss the topic of lying on your CV for self-taught neets who are actually good but get filtered by the cursed wHoRe-cruiter.

Strictly talking about the accreditations here and not necessarily my experience, that would also account for wtf I've been up to the past 3-4 years of neeting kek.
I'll buy the fake CS diploma from some reputable vendor (any recommendations?), or perhaps I don't even need that? Has it ever happened that some fucking recunigger asked you for your diploma? I'll learn the basics about whatever (out of country) uni I'll attend and conjure up a story.
How does that sound?

I live in jewrope where the market isn't as bad as in the US but it's arguably still cucked. So my chances aren't too bad
>>
>>107060879
>Has it ever happened that some fucking recunigger asked you for your diploma?
As someone with an actua B.Eng, no. I've never had to prove to someone that the degree in my CV is real. Obviously it has a real school's name and my thesis work on there, so they could call and ask, but I doubt that anyone's doing that.
>>
>>107060748
Why are you applying to those? Of course they're not going to hire somebody with multiple years of experience, that's likely not who they're looking for.
>>
I don't understand what is going on in this job market. I got a decent resume and portfolio according to the people who have looked over them. My previous employers have always been fairly happy with me, typically saying I do good work and am open to feedback and growth if a bit introverted, yet it's taking me so long to find a job that the government is sending a job coach my way because I've been trying by myself for the past months and failing. I don't send out an application to everything that I see online, I only apply to jobs that I think would be a good fit for me with a personalized cover letter and slightly tweaked resume. I even tell the company in my letter why I specifically applied to them to show I'm not some idiot sending applications to any place I see online with a generic AI-written letter. It doesn't matter, in the past 5 months I've only gotten two interviews and no offers. I don't even know if anyone reads anything, seeing as I've had online/phone chats where they just asked me to repeat what I put in my cover letter. Why do you even want to chat to "get to know me" before the interview?

It never took me this long to find a job, even in the beginning of my career, and I refuse to lower my low standards any further. I used to accept unpaid positions or minimum wage positions because I figured it'd at least beat doing nothing, but now that I actually got the experience nobody will take a chance on me even though I've proven I got a broad skill set and can pick up almost anything you ask of me if you just look at my resume. And again, nobody can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Companies never answer my follow-up questions and nobody I've asked, including a few experienced professionals in the industry, can tell me what's wrong. I think if I pass the one year anniversary of unemployment I'm just gonna find a job stocking shelves because I feel like a complete failure when I'm unable to even find a simple job maintaining old WordPress websites.
>>
>>107054618

bro every business is trying to gear down for holiday shutdowns. realistically it will be in january or february once things open up/some of the workforce have killed themselves over xxxmas break

This summer people told me that everyone is on summer holiday so jobs will pop up afterwards. That was wrong advice, I should have gone all in this summer, would have gotten something by now before more unemployed people join the unemployed cohort.

>Now use this weekend to train up on leetcode problems!
Absolutely not.

I've had the opposite observations.

One company was trying to hire a contractor quickly because they had some shit due for Q4 and needed someone in a hurry. Also got two calls from companies today. One from a talent pool with a possible suitable job, another one from a company I interviewed at.

October–November seems fairly suitable for job hunting. I expect December to be dead as shit though.

Most companies literally don't care at all if you have experience or if you're the best person for the job. They just want you to solve 4 leetcode mediums in an hour and nothing else moves the needle at all.

I paid 200 bucks yesterday to get degree evaluated by americans. I got the result today that it's equivalent to american degree, now I can apply for jobs in the united states if I want to but I won't because I have to use it for something else.
Meanwhile you paid for a happy ending. Maybe your deal was better.

I'll have no problem building gambling software that feeds on addicts, I don't give a shit about them. I do however have a line I refuse to cross and that's rigging the software. Fuck that. House already has the edge and don't need the scales tipped further.
I would have to give up what little goodness I think I still have to do it, and I don't know if it would be worth it.

>Is everyone just content with the fact that the future of America is everyone doing 3rd world tier labor for minimum wage and relying on government welfare to survive?
ummm... thats a good thing? like are you literally insane? we're going to have walkable cities, affordable housing, and best of all is second gen africans running government. the future is so bright. the places they come from are jsut so good thankfully they replaced literally 35% of the entire population with them. have you ever seen the cowloon walled city? its so cyberpunk and epic. things are goign to be cool.

some of the people in these threads are just as dumb as indians. they think theyre the first guy to ever think of lying like the industry isnt built around vetting liars nonstop. jesus christ.
they can even buy a copy of your social media history from lexisnexis.

Back in 2004 anyone who did a two coding bootcamp would get into a tech company and get free massages, gourmet chefs making food at the cafeterias, and sleeping pods at the offices included along with a 60k salary (120k today).
In 2012 anyone who could code a mobile app would get rich. Flappy bird making 50k per day for the dev.
Things have only gotten worse.

And unlike doctors our careers are unprotected. We don't have licenses to tend to the machine so our field can be devalued by the endless people who got inspired by the past 30 years and decided that computer science leads to wealth. Anyone who studied computer science or computer engineering has 7% unemployment. Meanwhile journalism and other bullshit degrees are at 3% unemployment.
I hope the next step is government licenses otherwise we are finished.

Unemployment statistics are misleading because you're still counted as "employed" with your journalism degree if you work at Walmart. Higher unemployment in CS and CE show that jobs are scarce and also that CS and CE grads refuse to take unrelated jobs.

This is the consequence of following your dreams in a free society instead of having a caste system where you know your role.

>they can even buy a copy of your social media history from lexisnexis.
Nobody does this.
>>
>>107068972
At least nobody does this to vet employees at an SMB. You think every company does a full-on CSI investigation, rocking up to your house and start analyzing the hair in your shower drain and the semen on your curtains. All you need to do is look at the absolute state of this industry, and then realize that clearly people who have been blatantly lying this entire time have only not been expelled, but have been consistently thriving.

6 applications a day
365 days a year
that's 2190 applications
surely you can manage 6 applications a day, can't you?
>>
>>107069017
Depends on the type of application.
Linkedin quick apply can be applied to maybe 100 times per day or more.
