-9800X3D: Not usually a significant improvement over a 7800X3D in gaming
-3060: Contrast pricing with 2070 (similar performance, 8gb) and 2080ti
-7700: Region dependent, at ~$250+ you'd likely better served elsewhere
-9060xt 16gb: Performance variable compared to 5060ti, buy only if $350 is the absolute max budget and you can't consider used
-9070: Worth considering if cheaper than the 5070
-"Futureproofing": Nvidia gpus in general have been aging better than Radeon regardless of vram or marginal differences in raw performance

correct those 2 are the better bang for your buck
consider a 9600x instead of a 7800x3d if you games dont benefit much from the x3d cache and consider a 9070xt if you want to try shit on linux or want to try an amd card
both those substitutions are cheaper

Some do yeah.
The wisdom i have gotten on that regard in these threads (and somebody can jump in and correct me if im wrong) is that
>MMOs , Multiplayer shooters, Autism simulators (factorio), City builders with big ass maps, and RTS with big armies (even single player ones) benefit from the extra cache
while
>Soulslikes, Action games, Platformers, Racing games, Metroidvanias, VN, etc dont really gain much from that extra cache

So its a damn fine chip but if you play more on the second category might want to opt for a cheaper chip. Since the anon i replied to did mention the word budget.

Again anybody more informed than me can chime in if im spouting nosense.
Cmon anon... you wanted a rikishi didnt you? thats why you asked?

What are you even trying to do? Asrock Mobo? With burnt chips? WTF? Also, the PSU is not ATX 3.1? Why why why? This shit is all fucked.
>>
>>107102753
You could remove asrock as a brand from the mobo, it would be a couple clicks to add that on the parametric filter. In my country it shows an msi board btw...
I dont think you can add the filter for 3.1 on the psu parametric on pcpp and stands to reason that the cheapest one might be 3.0
But i think that anybody who is starting his build by using a set of filters to LITERALLY THE CHEAPEST COMPATIBLE items in pcpp probably knows he is making some compromises.

You can save a bit of money buying 2x individual 16GB 6000MT/s CL30 DDR5 sticks, just make sure the timing & voltages are the same.

Get either the Peerless Assassin V3 (new fans) or the Phantom Spirit (1 extra heat pipe); the choice is yours.
I would say most people will notice the difference in fan noise compared to an extra heat pipe.
The extra heat pipe gives maybe 1~2°C lower temp, but it's a difference between 95°C and 93°C in the worst case.

There's no harm in buying 2x 16GB 6000MT/s @ 1.35V modules.
Each stick is literally tested by the manufacturer to run at those specs.
That speed and 30-40-40 timing is easy to run on AM5 CPUs & boards.

>>107103531
You want your PSU to operate as close to 80% load as possible for maximum efficiency. A 750w unit would be ideal in your case. You could go up to 850w if you want to “future proof” but You’re going to need to upgrade to the most power hungry GPU in the planet if you’re going to even think of needing something like that. I run a more powerful system than yours with a 650w unit.

Absolute paranoid schizo losing his shit.
CL30s are all Hynix-A dies; there's literally a single product code.
The guy's entitled to a refund if Newegg sends him different memory SKUs.
He doesn't even need to open the product packaging to confirm the product SKU (easier return in the worst case).

That $40 savings means he gets the Thermalright cooler for free, or he can get a better-looking case if he wants to.

You obviously don't know how memory tuning works if you're freaking out over this.
Any updated AM5 board BIOS can handle two of these sticks.

DDR4 ECC Reg has literally doubled
It's the type of shit that makes me think the current spike in RAM prices is not currently based on an actual realized increase in DRAM prices.
I bought some "open box" DIMMs just a few months ago for $21 per 16GB.
The same RAM is now over $40 from the same seller.
These DIMMs where manufactured literally 7-8 years ago. Unless Ebay sellers suddenly all got a shipment of newly produced DDR4. These price increases are on existing stock.

If Ebay e-waste bagholders can double their prices, then corporations surely are

A mix of worry about the 12v connector that I just couldn't shake and price, even the cheapest SFF 5070ti models were at least £100 more and I didn't really want to compromise thermals too much with having a tiny heatsink that would also end up running fans louder.

It's a bit of a crap time to buy a GPU in general between current controversies and supers not that far out but 9070xts seem to be far from bad cards by any means coming from a 3070ti, even lacking the desirable NV feature suite.
I couldn't get the model I would have preferred without going a bit of of my way though but it is what it is.

I heard that it can be good to reduce SoC voltage on AM5 motherboards to increase DDR5 memory stability. Is this true?
I've heard numbers thrown around like "1.27V" or "1.2-12.5V" or "anything under 1.3V" but what do you guys think? Is it necessary to do this? I haven't gotten the motherboard and other hardware yet so I can't even check what the SoC voltage is by default, for all I know it's less than 1.3V out of the box.
>>
>>107104494

Damn, I know I shouldn't use the money and reinvest it but it's so tempting. I want to get away from Intel CPUs, so that's a new CPU, a new motherboard, a new cooler and probably new RAM.
>>
>>107105673
I think you got wrong info, lowering SoC voltage can help with FCLK AKA Infinity Fabric overclocking. On the flip side it's easier to OC RAM with high SoC voltage, this is why 1.3V is max and default as soon as you enable EXPO on AM5. Old UEFI pumped even more voltage but that caused premature CPU death.
If you want you can lower SoC voltage manually and check if your system is stable, but that will come to silicon lottery.
Just prepare to stress test your system thoroughly.
>>

>>
>>107105807
EXPO (Extended Profiles for Overclocking) is overclocking, if you want safe and stable use JEDEC.
VSOC will drop to around 1.0V without enabling EXPO and you will also have lower idle power consumption at the cost of performance.
>>
How often do you guys build new PCs?

Yup. I recently learned not to skimp out on anything that is supposed to be between you and the floor for long periods of time.
This includes beds, chairs, shoes and stuff.
Buy a $300 office chair and it breaks in 2 years, and you have to replace it. $300 becomes $600, then $900, then $1200. Versus buying an expensive chair and can last a lifetime for a one time cost. I'm like that person where I HATE buying used chairs, I just find it disgusting.
I plan on replacing my old Staples office chair soon.

Asus XG27ACS or AOC Q27G4 (200hz "fast IPS")
Monitor hunter suggests the former is/was best in class for 27" IPS, but other reviews call it a budget, bang for buck or entry level model. The latter has better specs on paper and is cheaper, but there's less information about it available. Use case is invested hobbyist - rather than professional - photo editing in lightroom, photoshop, and some (online) gaming. I play fewer competitive games than I used to, just TF2 and Battlefield now, so I don't need a 6000 hz 0.0000001ms response rate esports redbull monitor, but I'd still like something with a decent refresh rate and response time. Single player games are mostly eye candy Skyrim, Dark Souls, various older fantasy RPGs among others.

Open to other suggestions as well. Mininum 1440p, 27", 144 hz, 1ms response time. Very strong preference for IPS due to balance of colour accuracy and gaming. No budget as long as price:performance ratio is good and I'm not spending $1000 for a 1% upgrade. Preference for a white exterior but not a dealbreaker.

9070XT, 9800X3D
>>
>>107106050
4800MT/s JEDEC is rather slow.
I would simply enable EXPO in UEFI because you paid for it anyway.
Slight increase in power use is irrelevant and if somehow you have problems with your system stability you can always disable EXPO at any time.
Since it's your first DDR5 platform don't get alarmed by your first boot time, it can take a while.

There is infant mortality but it's measured in years,
If something was going to die it's within the first 3 years.
Measured lifetimes can be in excess of 10 to 15 years depending.
That's assuming however a best effort in engineering and sourcing for reliability. Hard to tell with any given manufacturer and consumer electronics

I'm by no means an expert but I do fuck around with old 5-10+ year old computers on a weekly basis, and the most common part I see dead/dying is the ram, followed by the HDD/SSD and then the PSU. As far as I'm concerned a properly functioning CPU/GPU is immortal, I have NEVER seen one that didn't work. I'll find 10+ year old dirty bastards with literal sugar residue on them that run with zero issues.
if an old HDD stays healthy it's likely to stay healthy for a very long time. I have multiple 8-10 year old HDD that have yet to show any problems, just don't be stupid about trusting them with important files.

I don't trust used ram or used PSU, but I'll cautiously buy a used HDD/SSD that passes crystaldisk. I wouldn't even think twice about buying a properly cared for CPU/GPU, hell I'd probably buy one that was sitting loose in a dusty drawer if the price was good.

How so?
My entire NAS right now is built from ebay parts
Only 2 things I was really disappointed with was a 10 count lot of HDDs had 45K hours on them, granted they spoke nothing off the hours and all of the HDDs are doing fine at 75k hours

Which of these monitor stands would look better for a 1990s/early 2000s themed desk setup?

The listing for that Eizo EV2450 stand pictures two different objects, so depending on which one they actually ship I'm thinking of ordering the NEC stand for my white and beige build if it ends up giving me more space and more stable pivoting. Something about that centered tilting on the Eizo stand makes me feel weird more than the giant plastic condom on the NEC stand, even though based on what I read it should BTFO the NEC stand in terms of functionality.

Both should hopefully be sturdy enough to support the weight of my screen, but I have no idea what to expect as far as the weight distribution goes.

beige is more 90s, pale is more early 2000s

Q27G4 is probably just an overclocked 180Hz panel.
XG27ACS is a solid monitor if you can get it near $220 or lower.
I'd get a colorimeter to calibrate the monitor if you're into photo editing.

Well, I'll find which one I'll get after tomorrow I suppose. Hopefully it fits on my monitor, which I also intend to repaint to match. There are a few units left to the NEC stand in case I change my mind and return the EIZO stand, though it might prove too useful to toss.

Hello guys I am here to ask for your help.
I need to make a build with the upcoming blackfriday to play mostly FPS games and LoL but I want to play also single players at at least 60FPS (the more the better).
I want it to be full AMD (fuck nvidia) and I want it to be for a 1080p display.
Could you give me builds I could look for?
I guess 32GB DDDR5 RAM
1TB SSD M2

But then I need indications for CPU GPU MOBO and CPU FAN.
Also if the case needs to be like full or mid.
THANKS to anyone trying to help me out.

Are there any monitors that exist with all of or nearly all of the following features:

>Non-OLED
>4k
>31in or larger, ideally 34-36in
>Supports hardware color calibration
>has at least 95% DCIP3 and Adobe RGB Coverage, ideally with both over 97%
>Supports VRR
>Ideally 72, 90, or 120+hz, but I'm fine with 60hz as long as VRR works between 30 and 60fps
>Is under 2000$ roughly, ideally under $1500 or even less
>Ideally doesn't have terrible response times

Or giving up on hardware color calibration, if the Adobe RGB coverage is 99%-100%?

I'm wanting something for both photo/image color correction and gaming (not that I care about super high refresh rates or super low response times, I just want it to be decent in those regards)

I know some LG monitors have both hardware calibration and VRR/gaming features, but IIRC none of them have Adobe RGB coverage above like 93% I think. The Asus ProArt line has one that's almost perfect aside from I think maybe Adobe RGB coverage again, but it's an OLED and i'm not paying 2000$ for a monitor just to have it degrade and get burn in after a few years

It's a combination of I think non-integer scaling and the fixed pixel structure of OLED. CRTs would look great even @ 240p. What they could have done is an even 4x reduction over 1440p with 640x360 if they really needed to steal limited bandwidth from resolution to pour into the refresh rate. We REALLY fucking need new display connection standards like GPMI (192 Gbps) or HDMI 2.2 (96 Gbps) to launch as the underlying panels they are driving are being crippled from the data transmission limitations now.

Color gamut and color volume are not the same thing. The first is how many shades of colors can be displayed, while the latter incorporates at what brightness levels and therefore purity can be exhibited.

This isn't true. If it were companies wouldn't spend the money for >200 ppi screens on phones/tablets. You need that level of pixel density for convincing clarity on fine details and text and to thwart screen door effect. Picrel has ~100 PPI on the left vs. >400ppi on the right. 27" @ 1440p is 109ppi.

>>

Try to see this at one arm distance, where you'd normally use the monitor from.
>>
>>107108975
And for a phone, you see it at 15cm at times, so high ppi is required in phones, but not in monitors, IMO.

is it a good idea to buy parts for another pc build as a backup in case any component in my main one fails?
>>
>>107109104
Depends, ram, ssd, fans? Sure. A gpu or cpu? Fuck no
>>
>>107109104
I can't see this being worthwhile unless you've decided to stay on a CPU socket forever in which case a spare motherboard would be worth it as it will eventually run out of stock and mobos are often one of the first components to fail
>>
>>107109104
my backup machine is mostly just the old one I upgraded from. If you can make a full second machine out of whatever's in your spare-parts box plus maybe one or two more cheap components, sure, that's a good thing to have around. I wouldn't build a whole duplicate of a current-spec build, though.

Check the fan's spec sheet; it lists the required amperage.
The Arctic P14 Pro PST, for example, has a maximum input current of 0.35 A.
Fractal Momentum 14 (non-RG) can draw up to 0.18 A

That fan speed controller states it has a 3A maximum current capacity.
Most motherboards' fan headers can handle up to 1A each.

Told you guys to look for summer/back-to-school sales.
There were some insane deals, especially on the Intel side ($210 14700K & $150 14600K).
>>
A thought; is it safe on the headers to pull out ARGB plugs while the PC is running? I have a problem of either my motherboard ARGB3 header failing early or its the fan hub that has 1/3rd-died (it is still delivering fan power and using the case's button to switch the hub's color options still works), however I haven't gotten around to it because its ass to turn it on and off and I have things to do.

Do you buy 2 cars in case 1 breaks?
>>
>>107109104
If you are making money from it, yes. But, just have a laptop for this,
>>
>>107109216
NTA, I have a Car, a motorcycle and a scooter. In PC, I have a primary PC and a laptop.
>>
>>107109216
Unless your car is less than ten years old and reletivly low milage, it might be best to have another.
>>
>>107109216
If I had the money I would have lots of cars.

i need help with getting extra storage
picrel is my motherboard, a Biostar B450MX, which i currently use with a 1tb nvme. i don't understand much about connections and slots and such, so i don't know if this board has space for a second nvme, or maybe an extra ssd, thanks

Why isn't it getting the same hype as the torrent?
>>
>>107109253
Unless it's on the back, looks like there's just the one NVME slot. Tech sheet backs it up too.
>>
>>107109285
Because you're not allowed to buy expensive cases.
They are consumables now and your meant to throw it away each build rather than reuse them.
>>
>>107109253
you can either plug in a sata ssd or use an adapter for a extra m.2 nvme
best option would be buying a new mobo from black friday sales except ddr5 prices are double from a month ago

The board's spec sheet says it has 1x M.2 slot and 4x SATA ports, so you can install 4x SATA SSD/HDD.

I've marked the SATA ports.

thanks anons
i'm not from us/europe so buying a whole new mb unfortunately is not an option for me right now, as i can barely afford the new storage.
my objective with it will be mostly to store pics, music, movies etc outside of the main disk because i'm a serial distrohopping addict
extra thanks to >>107109302 for the marked layout this is a life saver for me. if its not asking too much, i get that i'll likely use a cable to connect the sata port, but where do i "hang" the drive?
>>
>>107109416
your case has a connection mechanism for sata drives

Damn, this is great. Thanks again. I don't know if they test 200mm fans though. I have a lot more 200mm fans than 120mm fans. But I guess 120mm fans are much cheaper.

I wonder how difficult it would be to rip out the front air scoop so I can put a radiator in the front and top of this case?
