-9800X3D: Not usually a significant improvement over a 7800X3D in gaming
-3060: Contrast pricing with 2070 (similar performance, 8gb) and 2080ti
-7700: Region dependent, at ~$250+ you'd likely better served elsewhere
-9060xt 16gb: Performance variable compared to 5060ti, buy only if $350 is the absolute max budget and you can't consider used
-9070: Only worth considering if cheaper than the 5070
-"Futureproofing": Nvidia gpus in general have been aging better than Radeon regardless of vram or marginal differences in raw performance

Pretty okay all things considered, some ue5 games would be kind of cancerous but you could probably coast with it until new platforms or the start of the next console gen.

i have a ryzen 5 5600X with a RX 6600

>How does the ryzen 7 5700x hold up? found a good deal on it
Starting to show it's age. Considering a far more powerful 14600K is ~$200, a fair price for it would be about $145 today.
>>
>>107109486
youd be looking at 600€ for a am5 mobo, ddr5 ram (lmao prices), new cpu
+ 600€ for a better gpu

the gpu is by far the best upgrade now, look at 5070 or 5070 ti
then after that look at 1440p oled monitors, glossy tandem is best

5070 is likely the best option
its more powerful, relatively cost effective and will work better at 1440p for the future
dlss has wider support than fsr

so pirate windows and buy 5070 even if you have to save a bit, the cost difference vs 9060 is worth

Multiply your monthly income with 2 and think whether you should spend it on a 12 GB gpu. The answer is NO.

>>107109562
i get about 50fps on elden ring, and between 30~40 on HD2 on medium settings unless i use scaling
i can only play cb77 on medium on low, don't remember fps
i can't say the load on the gpu as i don't think i ever bothered checking, but i do remember that it got really hot sometimes, like 90ºC
maybe another factor for me is how much power is it gonna draw compared to the 6600, because electricy bills are really expensive in the country right now
>>
>>107109582
you'll be running most games at balanced transformer model dlss
the extra vram of 9060 doesnt make your gaming experience better with worse fps, and not having fsr4 is a not of games + all the other software benefits nvidia has

Keep saving, if you go for a budget gpu it will last you 3 year max but if you spend a little bit more you'll get something that can last you up to 7, specially if you can hold on until the next gen as new consoles will be out so they'll be significantly more future proof than current hardware

Not sure if anyone remembers but I’m the anon who was having trouble with his 4070ti running hot as fuck and the fans were ramping up to 100% no matter how many fans I added and I even bought a new case to see if it would help.

I finally fixed the issue.
Undervolting the GPU and now every game runs fine without DLSS and with high frame rates.
Something so simple.

I still have time to return this new case I bought - with the only reason not to is because I have my AIO radiator mounted to the top of my case which allows for the front of my case to have 3 fans.
Radiator used to be mounted at the front of my old case with tubes at the top (I’ve been told this is bad).

Is this reason alone worth keeping this case? Putting everything back into the old case will for sure suck but it is what it is. If it matters, the case was $79

cheap IPS likely perform very similarly to each other
then minileds have backlight zones that make hdr easier to accomplish and OLEDs have 0.1ms pixel response times and each pixel is controlled individually which gives you best hdr experience

Nothing, if the panel is the panel is the same IPS in both cases, enjoy your cheaper monitor and let the pay pigs pay for their brands. If one is Oled and the one you are looking at is VA or IPS, the branded one is better.

If it's a DVR/CCTV type of HDDs those usually have TLER=0 meaning if there is any weak sector they instantly give up and skip the sector as bad.
Normal desktop drives can retry one weak sector for up to 30 seconds, often successfully recovering the data.
However I have no idea how often that type of read error can occur.

We don't have a good price comparison site for Poland so advice will be more general i.e. no optimisation on the commodity components. With that in mind this would be a good starting point:
>CPU
7800X3D or 9800X3D depending on pricing/budget. Could go 265K if you do (paid) multicore work too.
>Cooler
Dual tower air; PA/PS120 or similar. 280/360mm AIO if you want super-quiet operation.
>Mobo
Always a personal choice but a B850 in the $150 (600zl?) region should be a good starting point. Avoid ASrock for X3D chips.
>RAM
Cheapest 2x16GB 6000-30-36-36 you can find. Try not to cry.
>SSD
2TB PCIe4 HMB. Again go by price.
>Card
5070Ti is probably the best you can afford with this budget. The 5080 isn't a big step up but could be viable depending on local markets. A used 4090 might be possible at the upper range of your budget
>Case
Again a more personal choice. Obviously you'll want a full mesh front but the aesthetics are up to you.
>PSU
750W/850W ATX3.1 Gold+ efficiency. Another commodity component with big regional price variation.

Example build (US pricing):

AFAIK nobody makes 8Gb DDR5 ICs so dual rank is highly unlikely. It wouldn't even be desirable if it were tbf.
>>
>>107111082
Yup. Allegedly the big 3 are reducing output in favour of HBM for datacentre cards.

That's what I thought so as well.

Those exist. They can firmware lock 16gbit modules to 8gbit enabled

that list of recommendations is solid to use when checking with your retailers.
If you can order from amazon (germany?) could give you a more concise list, but if you follow that post you can't go wrong.

I have a 6600xt and looking to buy a used gpu for an upgrade with around $300 or so budget. And I've been eyeing a 10gb 3080 for gaming and blender. Would that be a good enough upgrade?

Also stuck with a 5600g cpu

Got this before the price hikes in Romania. While it was shipping, the prices started rising
>>
>>107111292
it'd be an OK upgrade but used 3080's are 5y old now and its a bit risky from age perspective + its not great perf per watt unit compared to tsmc 4nm gpus

Id look at used 4070 type gpus, new 5070 for a decent upgrade that will work for the future, $300 is absolute low end for todays gpu market and doesnt buy you anything good.

RTX HDR requires Windows HDR to be on. Its converts SDR 8bit to 10bit. It's a hack for Nvidia because they suck at real HDR compared to Intel or AMD. Not everyone talks about it because real HDR isnt for poorfags you need at minimum a $600 display and fags here don't want to spend more than $200-300 on their 1440p shit.
>>
>>107111330
I'll buyfag some more on black friday (this week here), it's the last good time to build a pc before the ram shortage also affects gpus and ssds
>>
>>107109613
You stupid? Nvidia has garbage HDR compared to AMD.

I'm pretty close to affording the 3080, and anything else is gonna take me at least half a year at best with my budget so I might settle with the 3080 and just sell it later on if my money situation gets better
>>107111376
What even happened with ram for it to skyrocket? Are we in some sort of drought similar to the COVID era when gpu's were stupid expensive?
>>
>>107111364
he's making it up, HDR sucks on windows period on either vendor and needs software to make up for it, but RTX HDR generally does a better job than AMDs solution
>>
Yeah Nvidia HDR is broken on Linux and Windows and doesn't even support Mac.....

>>107111359
It's just a desktop filter like Reshade/MadVR that does color hacks.

>>107111364
Nvidia drivers spazz the fuck out in multiple HDR scenarios. Sometimes it's fine for games, other times it's broken as shit like not working unless in exclusive fullscreen (which isn't a thing in DX12 games) or you fuck up your media player you don't need to these on AMD.
>>
>>107111399
the ram cartel did the same thing about 7? years ago, 16 GB of ram was $200 or something

what are the rules for combining ram sticks?
is it fine as long they're the same frequency and CL or does brand play a difference?

AMD doesn't have a graphics card powerful enough to adequately support the top HDR monitors

I've bought all components except the GPU and CPU. Will prices of those increase? Looking for 9800X3D and 5090 or 5070Ti (or possibly waiting for 5070 Ti Super)

No you're making shit up stupid fuck. It's widely known that Nvidia has broken drivers and fucked up HDR. Their new display controller fucked up everything since Blackwell. Nobody is buying Ada in 2025 or talking about last 1-5+ years ago drivers it's all about today's date post your HDR signal on your display with today's date 11/5/2025.

That's supposedly "correct" SRGB mapping for SDR content on HDR display.

>>
>>107111509
Real Proper HDR isn't supposed to distort colors to the point dithering which your image is doing. That's what you call "compressing colors". Or Nvidias dogshit HDR implementation. It looks wrong at all times. Just like Nvidia drivers are broken and wrong at tweaks.
>>
>>107111506
You're acting like games don't turn on with normal cpus.

As identical as possible.
You can get away with some mixing. But, if you're using mixed frequencies, it'll run at the lowest frequency (Or only at 4800MHz) and I think with latency it'll run at the highest latency. Or some "Safe" setting. Or else be unstable.

Generally just get the exact same fucking kit and don't mix it, it's not worth the hassle.

>>107111531
buy 5700x3d in that case
or just dont games at all?

>>
>>107111565
Yes most modern consumer displays are somewhere between ARGB and P3 thus they can display more intense, more saturated colors than 1996 "typical home and office viewing conditions" meaning bottom of the barrel consumer TVs which were the basis for SRGB.
Using clamped SRGB makes sense for content that was specifically produced FOR SRGB. That's why old movies can look unnatural on new TVs.
But for software, websites, anime, games etc there is no photorealistic baseline and most of the time washed out colors feel subjectively worse than full gamut.
>>
>>107111622
maybe 15 years ago but they act completely the same now, it's just a schizophrenic asspull because radeon loses on real performance and real features
>>
>>107111606

>But for software, websites, anime, games etc there is no photorealistic baseline and most of the time washed out colors feel subjectively worse than full gamut.
Oh I see. What about game and anime that were made back in the sRGB-era and get remastered now. Are the colors just locked-in to what they were then, or does the newer colorspace standards available make them any better?

That is damned weird. Maybe it's like when Micron downsampled 16Gb Rev. B to 8Gb for their Ballistix Max kits.
>>
i see the president has equipped his daughter with ballistix
>>
>>107111668
SDR content by itself merely exists as abstract 0-255 scale and it's up to hardware manufacturers and end users (meaning both content creators and consumers) to communicate what should be the correct absolute color mapping and set it manually.
Certain SDR applications like photo editors can provide alternative color mapping data to OS but most just default to SRGB.
