FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.

You might as well just use IoT LTSC if you're thinking about IoT.

generally speaking yes to no TPM and legacy mode (no EUFI no secure boot)

if you have a spare drive around make a test install to that and see

It seems that's how ESU updates will work going forward. There's still patch tuesday updates but now there's also singular security updates as well for each month, which install really fast but still need restarts.

Windows 11 is viable on at least 3rd gen Intel Core (Ivy Bridge), but I certainly don't recommend it on anything older. If you want to make use of the virtualization security, you'll need 8th gen or newer, though it is not anything mandatory.

Downsides to win10 ESU?
>>
>>107258603
Here's some general W10 downsides
>No optimizations for 12thgen+ cpus
>Dropped active support by mainstream programs/vidya
>Half-finished OS semi-abandoned by MS and enshittified in 21H2-22H2 branch so people feel pressured to update, incosistent UI, intentionally annoying decisions like leaving abandoned apps pre-installed that don't even work anymore like 3D Objects, Cortana, having no support for MS's own stuff like JPEG XL extension, AVC Extension, no preinstalled HEVC extension. Shit like literal updates for some reason being put into Settings -> Apps and treated as apps in 22H2 GAC, or in 21H2 not allowing you to remove win access bloat like calc without bricking your OS or baiting you into using insecure shit like internet explorer or win media player legacy that uses the internet or le troll face making it if you restore win photo viewer with regedit your wallpapers get fucked up.
>no proper support for autohdr or updated dx12 ultimate, drivers of AMD being dropped in 2026
it's just over, people need to move on and stop pretending like W10 was any good anyways, literally the most stinky pajeetware slop ever, using W11 is like eating a delicious perfectly made steak in comparison to it with how inconsistent and unfinished w10 feels, there's literally no consistency, open start menu, open file explorer, right click on taskbar, transparency effects are terrible and inconsistent, text legibility worse than in 11, it's just so fucking shit it makes me depressed looking at it. Only good part is that it's easier for lowbrow retards not capable of using gpedit or regedit to make basic changes like disabling a background app or setting a default app or adding a context menu option which MS makes more difficult in 11
>>
>>107258684

That anon is dooming. There really isn't any downsides to using 10 with ESU besides not getting anymore "features" as it's just security updates for three years. It's the stability that ESU 7 was.

They have a website with docs on how all their activations work. And when you run the irm command in the OP in an admin powershell to download/run it from the temp folder, it gets it from either from their github, their azure or their self-hosted git.

Mostly the feature pack on the box. 22H2 ESU doesn't have issues with certain programs that want 22H2 specifically like IoT LTSC 2021 can with its frozen 21H2 feature pack. Otherwise at this point in time IoT LTSC 2021 and 22H2 ESU both get the same security-only updates.

>>
>>107259950
No, IoT LTSC 2021 gets the updates as normal without extra licenses, you don't need any licenses like with normal 10 needing TSforge ran on it to activate them. And yes, it does look for drivers on first run of WU, just maybe keep your PC's wireless/LAN driver on a USB if the basic networking driver that comes on the ISO doesn't work with your system.
>>
>>107259950
With IoT LTSC, you just need to activate Windows with MAS (HWID is generally the recommended activation method)
If you install regular, non-LTSC Enterprise, you need to activate Windows with HWID, then to activate ESU with TSforge, both with MAS

>>
>>107258950
Scripts like tiny11builder use the ADK tools. There's not much point in using them as-is but t11b is probably one of the better scripts to build your own from.
>pre-apply GPOs
Unfortunately there is no way to apply specific policies to an offline image you'll either have to load a whole policy set (i.e. dumped from a current install) or set a post-install script.
>strip packages
You don't even need ADK for this, DISM is included in your current install. Pretty much all the features and capabilities can be removed but you have to be careful with some of the PAPs because they can unexpectedly break some (first and third party) applications. What LTSC includes is a fairly good baseline but still not everything in it is strictly required.
>Preload drivers perhaps.
The only reason to do this if you're not imaging a fleet is for WiFi drivers or something else not a part of WU. I don't even see a reason to use manufacturer direct GPU bloatware over what is installed by WU these days.

IoT LTSC 2021 with the 22H2 enablement pack added to it doesn't work properly when it comes to monthly updates because IoT LTSC 2021 with 22H2 doesn't actually exist, it's a hack install.
If you want 22H2 then you should just install normal Enterprise 10 22H2 and enable the ESU licenses to get properly monthly updates until late 2028.

Enterprise lets you disable much more telemetry.
>>
>>107270868
>I dont really want to mess with any MAS stuff
Well, if you refuse to use MAS, it's not like you can easily switch to Enterprise for free anyway. In any case the biggest advantage is that you can disable more telemetry as the other Anon said

I know you don't want to use it but I'll still let you know that MAS lets you activate the 3 year commercial ESU

I thought that since I enabled 22h2 through a DISM, doing the reverse and reverting to 21h2 would be good enough, as it's written in the pastebin (pic related).

It was only 1 month ago that I did that, I think the pastebin was updated with the new correct info some time later.
>>
>>107271122
Maybe that works fine
I was more talking about if you wanted to switch to regular Enterprise to be on 22H2 but still get updates until 2028 with ESU

It will be for a new PC, I plan to keep this old one on pro with ESU.
as for an ISO for enterprise, is there no direct MS download of that? masgrave only has links for ISO they are providing. also, arnt enterprise licenses different than consumer editions? or do they just use HWID once and the system is now registered on MS servers?
>>

You just add the DWORD AllowTelemetry to the registry with a value of 0.

All editions can be activated with HWID except for non-IoT LTSC (which MAS auto-converts to IoT when you try to activate it with HWID)
If you’re on a W10 GAC edition the only additional thing you have to do is activate the 3 year ESU with MAS TSforge

only part of that that annoys me a little is how the win95 progress animation is smooth/blended, one of the most noticeable differences between the 95 and 98 boot splashes is how the 98 one is dithered while the 95 one isn't

Both regular Enterprise and IoT LTSC can be activated with HWID
Non-IoT LTSC can't be activated with HWID so MAS will automatically convert your install to IoT LTSC if you choose to activate it with HWID

Basically no matter what edition you've installed, choose the HWID activation in MAS, then:
>you're on any IoT LTSC or any W11
You're done
>you're on a regular W10 edition like Home, Pro, Education, Enterprise (not LTSC)
Also activate the 3 year ESU with the TSforge option in MAS
>>

>any downsides to opus?
Less compatible with older devices
Basically H264 video plus AAC audio will play on practically any device made in the last 15 years
>>
>>107283047
just compatibility with old devices really. at this point they'd have to be pretty old, opus isn't exactly new anymore either, opus is from 2012, while aac dates back to 1997
basically if your device is "not ancient" or at least is capable of running "not ancient" software, opus should be fine, otherwise aac is the "should work basically anywhere" alternative

also; if your device is new enough to play vp9/av1 video, it can play opus audio
youtube providing h.264/aac is just for old stuff. there's no reason i can think of to pick aac audio when you're downloading vp9/av1 video, since there's surely nothing that supports vp9/av1 and not also opus (vp9 is from 2013, and av1 from 2018)
