Okay, I have 2 kits of Samsung b-die DDR4. One is 32gb, the other is 16gb. What's the fastest, easiest way to test for performance improvement if I can them working together?

They're the same timings, but 32gb is 4000 @ 1.4v and the 16gb is 3600 @ 1.35v. The question is ultimately, will my performance improve if I install both on my x570 board? 5700x3d @ 1900fclk if that mattersand planning to run both kits @ 3800.

It will not improve performance unless you actually need more ram. That's how ram works. if you have an 8gb kit, 16 kit and a 32gb kit and they all run the same speed, they will run equally fast. Until the lower capacity kits run out of space and then start to slow down to a crawl while the higher capacity kits work just fine.

You will have a small performance drop, since your system would limit itself to 3600mhz. Since if you mix two different speed kits it will always slow down to the slowest stick. You will not be able to run the system at 3800mhz unless you manually overclock the 3600mhz kit and hope it's stable at 3800mhz and doesn't crash. Honestly if you do not need the extra 16gb ram your system will be a bit slower and it's best to just stick with the 32gb 4000mhz kit.

3DMark isn't a good tool for CPU testing. Honestly just run the benchmarks on the games you play at low enough settings that your CPU is the bottleneck (since the results would be basically identical if the GPU is a bottleneck). Maybe running something like cinebench can work as well. But for gaming results just testing the games you play is best.

That was because AMD CPUs were actual dogshit and there was no reason to buy one. In the case of Ati/AMD there were generations where the red gpu was cheaper, on a newer node, more power efficient, better all around performance with absolutely no drawback and they were still completely ignored by consumers. I've never tried the 27" qdoleds, but every qdoled 32" I've tried gave kinda eye strain, the matte g80sd being way less than the glossy evnia, like crazy weird light reflections on the glossy coating even on completely plain single color images displaying every single rainbow light color is reflecting in the layer, wonder how much this varies in glossy coatings, not used other glossy qd oleds yet

Passmark Performance Test is a good way to overall measure differences in configuration, it's an all-in-one package for CPU, 2d, 3d, RAM, and disk benchmarking. There is a free version but if you run it many many times in one day it will start to limit what it does because they want you to buy the full version.

I run it when setting up new hardware and tuning, /works/. We used where i worked at huge globohomo medical device manufacturer to benchmark systems when doing integration on new hardware.

You don't have to run the full test each time, can run only memory benchmark when tuning RAM, for example.

I would argue that if you hoard your boxes, it's worth buying the premium PSU's because of the potential 10 year warranty.
And also there are situations where a better PSU will survive brown outs better (tomshardware reviews "hold-up time"). Or the fan is loud, or EM noise?
But the argument that a gold vs bronze PSU will save you money is false, you would save more money by downgrading / limit the GPU/GPU/Monitor than from the getting a gold/better PSU (such as the 500W smart PSU).
The big reason why is because your components typically Idle at a low wattage, even for watching videos. It's just unrealistic to assume you will run your GPU at 500watts for 10 hours a day, and if this was your real world situation, at 20 cents per kilowatt hour, that means 365 days * 10 hours * (500 watts/1000 kilowatt * 0.2) = $365 of power cost per year, so if you had a 20% efficiency improvement, that's $70 a year saved. But you just spent $365 in a single year on power... And that's implying that you don't spend the majority of your day being unemployed and doom scrolling.
But if you are spending like $3000 on your PC, there is no reason to not buy a platinum PSU, but it's just not that worth spending the extra $50+ on a PSU that's 5% more efficient if you are trying to make a $800 PC build, ONLY on efficiency (warranty/noise/aesthetics, maybe, also in the EU I think bronze PSU's are non-existent or not as cheap as in other places).

well, you aren't supposed to use the old PSU with the mainboard, you are supposed to buy the all-in-one pc including the case and PSU.
BUT, if you wanted to save $200~, you could reuse your case + psu, or buy a cheaper case or psu, with only the mainboard.

Now well other manufacturers take this approach? probably not.
Will we get soldered all-in-one motherboards with PC's that need more than 300~ watts? And possibly making a new PSU connector could save the manufacturing cost by a dollar instead of just adding more 8-pin connectors? Maybe, but probably not.
I don't want this change to happen because it makes things impossible to repair for no good reason (since CPU's and GPU's are separate chips...).
But... if APU's got bigger... and way more power hungry... and people demand more mini PC's like the steam machine, it's possible to happen (and it's more likely they won't sell the mainboard, you need to buy the whole box).

GPUs are still priced more or less along the lines of inflation. A 1080Ti was priced at what would be today around $800-$900. And a 5080 can be bought today for $1000.

Obviously the 1080Ti was a way better value proposition for its time, but, regardless of the relative power of a series, Nvidia has priced their RRP at close to inflation, with a little monopolyist greed here or there.
