If you're not doing color sensitive work, just make it look good to you. Color accuracy is a meme for content consumption, especially if you need to pay for hardware to calibrate it.

just bit the bullet and bought picrel as per the op recs in these threads out of fomo, it was mainly between it and the Cooler Master Tempest GP27Q which was about $65 more expensive.
I would have went with the Cooler Master if it came in white as i'm migrating to white hardware
should i cancel?

If the price is fine, that kit is okay.
Just downclock the speed to 6000MT/s and use a common primary timing like 30-38-38 or 30-40-40.
If you like to memory OC, you can decide whether to run 6000MT/s or 8K.
Pic isn't my PC setup, his memory OC is cooled with a 120mm fan pointing at the memory slots.

I don't see the point in caring about the back of the display's color.
>>
>>107361644
Define "accurate".
Are you calibrating for specific target?
Is your specific target sRGB? Or are you matching a display with your own cameras and printers?
Do you konw how and why sRGB should and should not be used? Do you really want to limit your display range to "typical office and consumer devices" circa 1995?
If you are worried about oversaturated skintones in live action videos you can define color profiles in player, no need to fuck over your entire OS UX for that.
t. own a calibrator for work but use "full gamut" settings at home

>>107361718
It's board dependent as well as gambling on the IMC but 8000 even as high as 8400 is possible. 6000 is the default recommendation cause it just werks but if you can escape 1:1 mode in favor of 2:1 that's were these speeds come into play.

I can't find my old PSU box with the cables, I am using 1 8pin cable that has 2 8 pin exits on my current gpu, the new gpu needs 2 8pins

cool it with the autism
i'm tired of windows fucking up my hdr profiles (windows keeps using the wrong profile on the wrong monitor etc) so i've decided to just leave them default and not add any oversaturated colors using the hdr calibration tool
i have a calibrite spectrometer or whatever but i'm not even using it because i can tell the default calibration on these monitors is good enough (if it's washed out and yellow/orangish it's probably srgb from my experience)

anyway im just venting and the main issue is windows being shit as usual

Disable all Windows Color management, it's trash.

Then use novideo_srgb if you are on Nvidia. If will calibrate your monitor based on your monitor's EDID data assuming it's accurate, or ICC profile which you can get from Hardware Unboxed patreon for monitors they have reviewed.

And if you find srgb too washed out, you can add digital vibrance on top of that without clipping as long as your monitor has the gamut, personally I use 54%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRAM_price_fixing_scandal

>On 27 April 2018, Hagens Berman filed a class-action lawsuit against Samsung, Hynix, and Micron in U.S. District Court alleging the trio engaged in DRAM price fixing causing prices to skyrocket through 2016 and 2017.[8] Between June 2016 and January 2018, the price of DRAM nearly tripled.

>To date, five manufacturers have pleaded guilty to their involvement in an international price-fixing conspiracy between July 1, 1998, and June 15, 2002, including Hynix, Infineon, Micron Technology, Samsung, and Elpida.[3]

>>
>>107361647
Well, I'll see tomorrow for sure when it arrives and I can install it all, but I hope it will kill the retarded downtime Wan 2.2 has between bursts of the GPU being fast (which I assume is a combination of decade old RAM, SSD and CPU having shitty speed and not enough capacity to avoid swap thrashing). And being able to compile things faster is always nice (even my fastest homelab server is ~3x slower). So if there's nothing obviously retarded in the component choice, then hopefully that'll last me another decade. And with AMD there are at l ast upgrade perspectives, as opposed to Intel.

>any higher than 8bit will make use of temporal dithering
That entirely depends if the panel is 8bit + FRC or a true 10bit panel.
FRC is frame rate control, a dithering technique that rapidly alternates between colours to simulate other colours. The swapping can cause eye strain if you're susceptible to it.
>>

True 8 bit is 16.7million colours, true 10bit is 1.07 billion colours. you can simulate 10 bit with 8 bit+frc which is what cheaper monitors do to achieve "10bit"

>LG C5
Is a true 10bit display so it doesn't need dithering. And you probably wouldn't be able to see the difference desu.

>So dropping the voltage would be best then, eh?
i would stay at 1.4 V or go above

first steps would be something like
tRC to 52, you can go lower but this is in spec for your kit
tRRDS/tRRDL/tFAW to 4/4/16 or 4/6/16
tRFC can easily be halved, 666 -> 333, you can go even lower but you have to find the limit yourself
tRDRDSCL/tWRWRSCL to 4/4 or lower (can probably do 2/2, like my micron kit)
tRDRDSD/tRDRDDD to 4
tWRWRSD/tWRWRDD to 6

these changes should already provide a huge performance boost, but this is good B-die, the sky is the limit

Depends on the silicon lottery. I wish there was an exact answer, but you'll have to test and go from there. Start at -20 and if it's stable, try -30. But, you have to stress test each time. A simple run through Time Spy won't tell if it's stable for a long load on the CPU.

Budget: $3000
Is this a good build?
Should I bite the bullet and get 64 GB worth of RAM instead of 32 GB if I can afford it? How much of a difference does that actually make?

nta, but whats wrong with evo? not having DRAM? is that even a notiecable difference?

I remember the incompetent fella in the OP image and the crossdresser sending me an email a few years back. They'd done a comparison against two card, but were making incorrect claims, I told them how to verify the performance per wat metric by limiting TDP and locking clock speeds to stock and boost frequencies and neither of them could pull it off.

Do people still watch those retards? The only thing I understand that they were ever good for was pixel counting console slop and finding "equivalent" settings.
Bunch of retards, I tell you what.
>>
Currently this is my PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/t6TcWc

Plus 48-64GB of RAM (technically have 4 cards but one isn't detected for whatever reason, the compatible ones are all DDR4 and so should the "invisible" one be) and a 1TB NVME (a kingston that doesn't show up in the list).

If I have a budget of 400$ tops, what would be the recommended upgrade to consider today? CPU (and I guess MB to go with it?) or GPU?

Well, that certainly looks familiar. A better GPU and a bit more storage, but quite similar. Mine's solid. Crushes 1080p and runs 1440p decent. Yours should crush 1440p. Be sure to have the motherboard updated to the latest bios and don't overclock it. You might need to up the power limits SLIGHTLY. Going from 181w to 195w gave a massive performance boost.

No, 64gb is overkill unless you're rendering videos or working with very large data bases.

I recently opened my laptop to clean its insides (and I got the CPU about 10°C cooler by doing that) and I realized I have an unused RAM slot on the motherboard so I figured I would buy one. However according to speccy the RAM stick I have right now is
>8.00GB Single-Channel DDR4 @ 1330MHz (19-19-19-43)
and I couldn't find a RAM stick of exactly 1330 MHz, would it hurt to mix sticks of different speeds and/or sizes? In any case, how could I possibly know what's the maximum speed my motherboard supports? According to speccy my motherboard model is
>Dell Inc. 02VK51 (CPU 1)
but a google search didn't give me any spec sheet. The (very faded) sticker on the laptop says it is a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series, bought like 3 or 4 years ago.

Might as well buy the 64 GB option if RAM prices are going to keep skyrocketing because of AI and if I can get 64 GB for just $170 more, no? If I'm already paying $410 for 32 GB, $580 for 64 GB doesn't actually sound so bad.
>>
I am building 3 budget gaming systems for my kids, I got 3 14600k processors and wanted to keep the budget as low as possible so I thought going with ddr4 was cheaper, I can get 16gb for only 140cad, ddr5 is more than double that. I bought 3 MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4 motherboards, and am about the order the 3 sets of DDR4. Should I pull the trigger on the ddr4 or return the DDR4 motherboards and get DDR5 motherboards and pay double for the memory? >Why is the Corsair Vengence $300 more expensive if it has the exact same stats? Just brand fuckery?
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, idk how other brands do it but waythefuckback in 2016, 2017? When I went for 64GB of RAM, I remember Corsair's site had verified average OC's for the ram in the vengeance series, above the XMP speeds advertised.
Now, back then you weren't paying $300 more, you weren't even paying $30 more so...take it as you will, bubble prices will knock this stuff outta alignment maybe.

Check the corsair site for the kit, down at the bottom in docks, there'll maaaaybe be a good set of documents and benchmarks on it, mighta stopped that though, nearly 9-10 years ago after all.
>>
>>107364653
Depends on what you want to put in there. Being smol often necessitates only supporting certain sizes for some hardware types (e.g., mobo, GPU, CPU cooler).
>>
>>107364700
Not power limiting your card is the cuck move
1-2% performance drop which can be offset with a clock curve bump, and you get way better thermal performance.

NTA but building takes like an hour even if for an amateur, maybe 2 if you go really slow, read manuals and you're anal about cable management
The only 'troubleshooting' you'd need to do is making sure everything's plugged in, and the RAM is seated properly.

It can, if it happens to error during a write operation with critical system files. Can also corrupt your own personal files during a copy operation.
Not terribly likely to happen, but it can happen. Use memtest to check but honestly it's not really worth it to manual OC RAM nymore, just use EXPO and call it a day.

Upgrading an ancient gaming rig I got from a friend awhile back. Keeping the case, SSD, and PSU. Trying to keep it close to $300 but I can probably do up to $400.
