>>107361557>>107361591Thinking about Kingston FURY Renegade 48GB-8000 CL38. It has all round nice price.
>trying to get used to accurate colors on my monitor>everything looks washed out dull and yellowishthis is torture
>>107361640If you have intel, that seems fine. That will be hell on an AMD cpu.
I CAN'T BUY A GPU
>>107361644If you're not doing color sensitive work, just make it look good to you. Color accuracy is a meme for content consumption, especially if you need to pay for hardware to calibrate it.
just bit the bullet and bought picrel as per the op recs in these threads out of fomo, it was mainly between it and the Cooler Master Tempest GP27Q which was about $65 more expensive.I would have went with the Cooler Master if it came in white as i'm migrating to white hardwareshould i cancel?
>>107361640I thought AM5 couldn't really go above 6000 as of right now
>>107361640If the price is fine, that kit is okay.Just downclock the speed to 6000MT/s and use a common primary timing like 30-38-38 or 30-40-40.If you like to memory OC, you can decide whether to run 6000MT/s or 8K.Pic isn't my PC setup, his memory OC is cooled with a 120mm fan pointing at the memory slots.
>>107361717if it's anything like the gp27u, you dodged a bullet because it is plagued with firmware issues that cooler master either can't fix or doesn't care to fix
>>107361697>>107361718>>107361722Okay thats good to know then i will go back to 6000 then
>>107361717I don't see the point in caring about the back of the display's color.
>>107361644Define "accurate".Are you calibrating for specific target? Is your specific target sRGB? Or are you matching a display with your own cameras and printers?Do you konw how and why sRGB should and should not be used? Do you really want to limit your display range to "typical office and consumer devices" circa 1995?If you are worried about oversaturated skintones in live action videos you can define color profiles in player, no need to fuck over your entire OS UX for that.t. own a calibrator for work but use "full gamut" settings at home
What's a good price for a 4070/Super/Ti tyese days?
>>107361718It's board dependent as well as gambling on the IMC but 8000 even as high as 8400 is possible. 6000 is the default recommendation cause it just werks but if you can escape 1:1 mode in favor of 2:1 that's were these speeds come into play.
Just bought an OLED monitor, I want to know what all the hype is about and I can classify it as a business expense. I'm going to use it 16 hours a day 365 days a year but don't worry I'll turn on all the care stuff I'm not a psycho.
>>107361704Yes, you can. Just believe in yourself. More importantly, WE believe in you. God speed, anon.

>>107361765There's a bunch of shit you will need to calibrate. Also may need to order longer cables for it.
I can't find my old PSU box with the cables, I am using 1 8pin cable that has 2 8 pin exits on my current gpu, the new gpu needs 2 8pinsI know the best practice is to get 2 cables, 1 for each 8 pin, but.... can I just use one pin until I buy a new psu?
>>107361708>>107361737cool it with the autismi'm tired of windows fucking up my hdr profiles (windows keeps using the wrong profile on the wrong monitor etc) so i've decided to just leave them default and not add any oversaturated colors using the hdr calibration tooli have a calibrite spectrometer or whatever but i'm not even using it because i can tell the default calibration on these monitors is good enough (if it's washed out and yellow/orangish it's probably srgb from my experience)anyway im just venting and the main issue is windows being shit as usual
>>107361765Based, I've been doing that since 2023 on my OLED G9. Fuck the "burn-in mitigations". I have the same static wallpaper and taskbar showing at all times.

>>107361497But Jay said that GPU prices will be stable, and VRAM is safe from the shortage.
>>107361644Disable all Windows Color management, it's trash. Then use novideo_srgb if you are on Nvidia. If will calibrate your monitor based on your monitor's EDID data assuming it's accurate, or ICC profile which you can get from Hardware Unboxed patreon for monitors they have reviewed. And if you find srgb too washed out, you can add digital vibrance on top of that without clipping as long as your monitor has the gamut, personally I use 54%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRAM_price_fixing_scandal>On 27 April 2018, Hagens Berman filed a class-action lawsuit against Samsung, Hynix, and Micron in U.S. District Court alleging the trio engaged in DRAM price fixing causing prices to skyrocket through 2016 and 2017.[8] Between June 2016 and January 2018, the price of DRAM nearly tripled.>To date, five manufacturers have pleaded guilty to their involvement in an international price-fixing conspiracy between July 1, 1998, and June 15, 2002, including Hynix, Infineon, Micron Technology, Samsung, and Elpida.[3]Hmmmmmmmmm
>>107361739Well under $400 for a base 4070, other 2 just buy a 5070
>>107361927Jay is always wrong. It's almost impressive. I just watch his channel because I like seeing him stick his fingers in running PC fans. He's a clown and is only good when acting as one. You don't take him seriously.
>>107361972the difference in 2025 is that they will get away with it this time
>>107361979I enjoyed his Bazzite installation video. I wanted to try it and that eased the process immensely. I hated Bazzite, but that's beside the point.
>>107361647Well, I'll see tomorrow for sure when it arrives and I can install it all, but I hope it will kill the retarded downtime Wan 2.2 has between bursts of the GPU being fast (which I assume is a combination of decade old RAM, SSD and CPU having shitty speed and not enough capacity to avoid swap thrashing). And being able to compile things faster is always nice (even my fastest homelab server is ~3x slower). So if there's nothing obviously retarded in the component choice, then hopefully that'll last me another decade. And with AMD there are at l ast upgrade perspectives, as opposed to Intel.
>>107361901what don't they understand about OpenAI buying the wafers? Where do they think the dram, vram, gddr, lpddr, hbm, nand all comes from to begin with?
With all the price increases, what's the chance that vendors and sellers are doing a little scalping on top of the actual DRAM increases?
>>107362032
>>107362008Most likely, yes.
>>107362032it's a scam, openai doesn't have the money, and the chinks will release deepseek 2.0 in a few weeks and the AI bubble will be raped to death because everyone will realize the chinks can make it better and faster and set it for free, bankrupting like 5 of murrica's biggest companies because they bet it all in ai

Is getting a 4TB SSD a bad idea?
>>107362119Seems like it's a bad idea for you if you need to ask.
Is there anything wrong in buying a B650 motherboard over a B850 one?
>>107362119If prices are right, hoarding storage is never a bad idea. Most users would be better off with a 2tb ssd + 4tb hard drive than a single 4tb ssd though.
>>107361497I might just order a spare 5090 out of pure FOMO.
Just pulled the trigger on a 9060xt even though I don't play that many new games. But I've been waiting for the GPU market to "get better" since 2018 and it hasn't.

>>107361932I have a b650 Lightning and it works perfectly fine

>>107362119Depends on the price, I recently bought used 7.68TB U.2 SSD with only few TB written for around $200 and it's great to have decent space and no spinning drives on my main desktop.
>>107362194Don't vertically mount it (Giga Thermal Gel slipping).
>>107362142Depends on OS, if you're planning on Win 10 650 is the one you want if you want working wifi and bluetooth. But even then you have to check each 650 board before buying if they have working drivers.

>>107362268>any higher than 8bit will make use of temporal ditheringThat entirely depends if the panel is 8bit + FRC or a true 10bit panel. FRC is frame rate control, a dithering technique that rapidly alternates between colours to simulate other colours. The swapping can cause eye strain if you're susceptible to it.
>>107362352I have an LG C5, does it do that? Also what does it even look like because I don't see any difference after switching.
>>107362364>>I have an LG C5, does it do that?FRC? No
>>107362364True 8 bit is 16.7million colours, true 10bit is 1.07 billion colours. you can simulate 10 bit with 8 bit+frc which is what cheaper monitors do to achieve "10bit">LG C5Is a true 10bit display so it doesn't need dithering. And you probably wouldn't be able to see the difference desu.

>>107364847Just get a Hyte X50
>>107364347It looks good but if you already have a rig that you can use and if you dont mind waiting a few more months then you should buy the ram, gpu, storage and psu/cooler/case now and wait until next year to complete the build as the ram shortage will reduce the CPU/MOBOS prices, specially with a new gen of CPU's coming out in q3/q4 of next year
>>107364873>Recommending waitingKill yourself
>>107364834Entirely up to you, but me personally? I never had a use for that much ram. Your mileage may vary. I'd either bank the money or put it somewhere else in the PC.
>>107364795just stick any old ram in there it'll run at whatever both can run at I assume you care more about size than speed on something that old
>>107364845I already have the Samsung 980 1 TB in my current system. so I would get the Western Digital WD_BLACK as a new drive and then just use both of them in my new rig.
>>107364834Corsair is mega Jewish that's whyTheir ram sticks aren't better than gskill's
>>107364834>Why is the Corsair Vengence $300 more expensive if it has the exact same stats? Just brand fuckery?uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, idk how other brands do it but waythefuckback in 2016, 2017? When I went for 64GB of RAM, I remember Corsair's site had verified average OC's for the ram in the vengeance series, above the XMP speeds advertised. Now, back then you weren't paying $300 more, you weren't even paying $30 more so...take it as you will, bubble prices will knock this stuff outta alignment maybe.Check the corsair site for the kit, down at the bottom in docks, there'll maaaaybe be a good set of documents and benchmarks on it, mighta stopped that though, nearly 9-10 years ago after all.
>>107364653Depends on what you want to put in there. Being smol often necessitates only supporting certain sizes for some hardware types (e.g., mobo, GPU, CPU cooler).
>>107364700Not power limiting your card is the cuck move1-2% performance drop which can be offset with a clock curve bump, and you get way better thermal performance.
>>107364916back in the ddr4 days it was pretty difficult to find quality b-die ram made by corsair since they kept selling fancy looking 3200cl16 crap for premium prices and people kept eating those up
>>107364977>fancy 3200c16kek I remember those days and got b-die 3200c14 from teamgroup with nothing but heatspreaders. Seeing those expensive 3200c16 filled me with disgust and contempt.
Well I bought everything I feel like I made a mistakeThat was a lot of money spent.Feel a little sick actually
>>107365022Well, at least you can laugh at the waitfags in a month or so.
>>107361497>I know this is worrying, goy, but I really, really need you to do two things now>>Step 1: PANIC.>Step 2: Buy my products.
Are there any good 1440p monitors with matte coating, 144hz, HDR and maybe Gsync?
>>107364838buy ddr4, its totally fine, they're kids
>>107365022I only felt that way after my first PC. I spent like $300 on a motherboard in 2008 that supported Tri-SLI and a GTX 280. I was going to get two more GPUs but realized how unbelievably fucking retarded that was. Now I just buy midrange parts and it feels much better.
>>107365022and you still have to build it and troubleshoot it
>>107365022That's completely normal unless you are a goycattle retardIt's normal and expected to feel bad when you spend your hard earned money on vanities like hobbies and entertainment
>>107362856Oh wow okay. Thanks anon! You're the ram wizard as far as I'm concerned though; that shit got complicated fast and I had to rely on dram calculator before but it's not helping much on this kit. Anyways thanks again!
>>107365059>Now I just buy midrange parts and it feels much betterI think this is the right idea. I've always had junk so I went all out and spent a fortune. But I worry about it constantly, the fear of so much money being tied into one little box and a mistake could cost thousands of dollars is too much pressure.
Can unstable ram OC fuck up my windows install and other data? What's the safest way to test it then?
>>107365061NTA but building takes like an hour even if for an amateur, maybe 2 if you go really slow, read manuals and you're anal about cable managementThe only 'troubleshooting' you'd need to do is making sure everything's plugged in, and the RAM is seated properly.
>>107365205some people said it can, but it never happened to me
upgraded from gtx 1070 to 9070xt, its too powerful, I feel like I don't need 30% of what the card gives me, I am on 1080p and will move to 3440x1440 next year, maybe then the purchase will be justifiable
>>107365205It can, if it happens to error during a write operation with critical system files. Can also corrupt your own personal files during a copy operation. Not terribly likely to happen, but it can happen. Use memtest to check but honestly it's not really worth it to manual OC RAM nymore, just use EXPO and call it a day.
get them while you can lads
>>107365205open cmd as adminsfc /scannowdism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
>>107365302That shit does literally nothing
>>107365306it does work
>>107365272Already boughted a 5070 Ti, I'm done with GPUs until 2030 minimum
>>107365306I thought so too but no, it does actually fix some random weird shit.
>>107364847how many miles of airtime can that get?
I thought finding the right mobo was hard but it turns out the monitor is the absolute hardest part to pick when building a PCSo many options and features
>>107365335and none of them good
>bought a 200mm fan>it doesn't fit the screw fuckingfucking Js, I'm just gonna leave it on top of the case blowing air out
>>107365354fit the fucking screw holes*I'm exhausted from ram ocing, installing a new gpu, new fans, etcpc building is a workout
>>107365354You have a case that supports 200mm fans on the top?
>>107365395>>107365395>>107365395
>>107365400yup, this one
>>107365400>200mm fansAKA the coolermaster special
>>107365430How does the screw not fit? I don't understand
>>107365321>>107365328I'm going to give it a try right now to try and fix some weird issues I've been having with Firefox lately. Sometimes when I play video on a tab (like on youtube or reels on instagram), the tab will crash and it will leave the system very unstable. In that state I can't use ffmpeg to convert videos because it will give me and error about not being able to set an encoder or something like that. My hypothesis is that something might be wrong with video drivers? Anyway I'll give it a try right now
>>107365454the screw holes on top of the case are rectangular, on my fan they're squareish, on older 200mm fans they have many screw hole setups on the fan bracket, mine is chinese, just has one
>>107365302Good tip, but you flipped the order.https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e
>>107365491I'm pretty sure Noctua has all the patterns built into their fans. I used to use them on my old cooler master case.
>>107365555they do, coolermaster sickleflow also seems that it'll work, I'll buy one later, it's fine the way it is right now
>>107365306nah, it can fix acl's iirc, particularly useful if doing recovery
What's the best GPU I can get that works with a 450W Platinum power supply and is at most 250mm long? The machine currently uses ~120W at peak but that's with the iGPU + overclocking, if I turn those off that saves a third of the power.
>>107363276you could just, y'know, replace the fan
>>107366216Go on pcpartpicker, filter GPUs by 250mm length and tdp = ~250w
>>107362119Got mine last year for NZD$319. Hasn't been anywhere close price wise since.
Upgrading an ancient gaming rig I got from a friend awhile back. Keeping the case, SSD, and PSU. Trying to keep it close to $300 but I can probably do up to $400. Is the 5700X worth the extra $45 if I'm only going to have the 980Ti? I might get a better GPU or more RAM a few years down the line if I feel like I need it and prices aren't absolutely fucked.I'm not big into gaming but my I had to refund RDR2 because it was unplayable and modded Minecraft is starting to get a bit choppy.
>>107367543That many generations back? No point. Six core would be plenty.
>>107367693I figured, thank you.
