TL;DR depending on your budget consider one of the following: Scyrox V8, ATK R1 Max Pro, ATK R1, Dragonfly A1, ATK VXE MAD R, ATK F1 Extreme

But really just decide on a form factor, sensor and maybe polling rate, then anything by scyrox, atk, mchose, VXE that satisfies those will be fine.

Anyone got experience with cameras for these chink android multimedia?

I bought this one 2 years ago and it's pretty great aside from a few small quirks, but the camera when going in reverse has gone to shit. Not sure if liquid got inside or the plastic got scuffed, but it's unusable.

Is it possible to order a different camera to replace this one or do you think the chinks only made it work with the one they're selling?

I want a desktop usb microphone that will pick my voice but not voices of people nearby to the side. The built-in DSP should filter out sounds based on delay between the microphones, only allowing sounds from the front.
Similar thing was integrated into my old motherboard (with bundled stereo desktop mic) and it worked perfectly, but audio beamforming seems to be lost technology these days.
I tried RODE camera shootgun mic but it's just a normal cardioid pattern capsule in a phallic shell, voices on the sides are slightly muffled but still audible in recording/call.
Also tried some high end creative, asus and logitech webcams that claimed to have stereo directional mic. It certainly was stereo, but not directional at all, picking up everything.

I need a new 3.5mm cable for my old 2.1 speakers. Originally they had a cable with a volume wheel thing but over time that cable failed. For years I used it with a simple 3.5mm cable I just had to lower the levels for the device in windows. I built a new PC with a new motherboard and seems like the audio on that is shittier or something because it puts some white noise into my speakers with that old setup. I had one of those 3.5mm cables with those ferrite(?) chunks on it and that helped a bit but I can still hear some noise. Would a cable with larger ferrite chunks help? Or do I need something else?

I see they also sell those ferrite chunks as clip-ons.

How about you stop being an asshat and suggest a solution? I have speakers that take a 3.5mm and a port on my motherboard that takes a 3.5mm. It was fine on my old motherboard but I can't go back to it because it was AM4 and the current one is AM5. The speakers themselves are old but work just fine.

>>107415512
>ground loop isolator
I'll look into it.
>>
>>107415624
>How about you stop being an asshat and suggest a solution?
There's a couple of reasons why you have shit speakers and can hear a hissing sound.
1. Shit speakers. It's old, like you said, so it might have developed the hiss over time. This always happens when using an active speaker. Since you are using a 3.5mm jack I'm assuming you are using an active speaker and not a passive one.
2. Your motherboard audio chip sucks. This isn't new, all motherboard chips sucks but they did get better over the years. The downside to this is that it can amplifying the hissing sound of your speakers.
3. Using an audio jack is the worst way to plug speakers in because it sends an analog signal to your speakers which is easier for interference to distort the sound.

So, a couple of ways to fix this:
Get better speakers. This is the expensive method. All active speakers will eventually hiss. But getting passive speakers can get expensive. So your best option is to get speakers and replace them every 15-20 years.
Another way to combat this is to send a digital signal instead. Drop the 3.5mm jack and use either optical or USB cables. All modern active speakers should have a USB or optical input. If you are dead set on using an analog signal then RCA > audio jack. Now if you bought an expensive passive speaker that only takes RCA input then you're going to need a DAC to take the digital signal to from your PC, convert it to analog then and send it to an amplifier to power your passive speakers. This is why passive speakers get expensive.

So may advice, get better speakers that has optical or USB input.
>>
>>107415265
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008712967391.html
consider this. hiss can be a number of things like not enough shielding, or your new board has was too high fidelity and expects a newer audio setup or even a DAC to process it, so your outdated speakers can't handle them or it could be just bad hardware
either way this external sound card bypasses the motherboard soundcard i think to give you a clean digital signal

Most stuff is coming from the same sources anyway but I'll tell you how I handle it.
Things that I have on my skin, eat or otherwise let get close to my body for longer periods of time I get from bigger brands and reputable shops that have a reputation at risk if they sell shit plus they don't want to get sued.
Sure, many of them may get the items from the same source but at least companies that worry about their future put money into frequently checking the material and their opponents sometimes do that too for them in case they fuck up, sell toxic shit and then can start a media outrage on them to take them down.

Small fun gadgets or electronic modules? I don't need an expensive middleman here. But anything body related is something I don't buy for pennies on Ali.

I have a relative who has a medical condition that results in very shitty circulation and makes it rather important that they never get too cold.
They tried all 3, heated vest, heated gloves, heated soles.
In their opinion, heated vests rarely put out enough power to make a difference, and it's your torso, so realistically it's already the hottest part of your body.
Heated gloves are good, but a pain to do the wiring for in his opinion. Also a big deal if you can get ones that aren't badly made (most are gimmicks).
The one thing he does use are heated soles. Again, most cheap ones suck ass though, similar to >>107418602 's reports (though socks are worse than soles).

But take a step back and ask yourself why you'd want that.
Actively heated adds a shitton of complexity and risk for failure, needs recharging and there's a reason it isn't widespread in areas that are historically cold.
Why not read up a bit on layering and the logic behind outdoor clothing (You don't need to actually get outdoor clothing, just understand why), then get clothes that can do that.
I guarantee with some basic understanding of layering you can be cozy warm at freezing temps easily without needing to look like an onion.
If it's for commuting or something short each day but you don't want the bulk (or frequently switch between warm and cold areas) you can also plan the layering such that you can quickly switch out one or two and go from "surviving in the siberian tundra" to "ready for a meeting in a business casual setting" within a 5 minute bathroom break.

If you're interested, look into ECWCS (Just skip to the GenIII layering system), mesh underlayers, and general outdoor layering techniques. DO NOT just copy them, they are for different settings, but understand the why and where.
On a related note if you find a decent quality clone of a Brynje mesh base layer on ali, please tag the OP and link it, I've been looking and can't find shit but always wanted one.

Featuresets seem similar. I find the screen to be bloat and actually a downside (I'd find it annoying) but that's purely a taste thing.
Both have hot swap, both have the connectivity you want.
Aluminium plate is nice, but I wouldn't make that the deciding factor.
Visually I find the HE65 much nicer, the design on the caps of the f65 reminds me of 2010 piediepie merch, just black instead of red.

The big difference is that they come with different switches which is what actually will matter in the end.
Picrel is a chatgpt table to compare, no idea if it hallucinated stuff or if it's correct if it was me I'd double check it but I can't be bothered doing it myself right now.
Personally I have gatereon browns, which are tactile and have 55g of actuation force, plus 2/4mm travel. But I do like tactile much more and don't care about gaming performance, which seems to put me in the minority. Since you mostly chose linear ones I'm assuming that's not what you care about.

The one (supposedly legit) figure I ordered from Japan (yes, still made in China) turned out to be worse than some of the bootlegs I own. Idk why. That experience made me reconsider ordering stuff from Japan. I'd rather just order directly from China for a fraction of the price.

That's just one of those generic bluetooth ones and a (badly) 3d printed shell to give it a DS form factor.
The keyboard is also a grid, and has super small buttons, I don't really see the point.
And no you will not have a windows XP like interface, that's just the wallpaper for the listing. It'll just be normal android when you connect mouse and keyboard.
I'd say bs, but in the end it's up to what you enjoy.

I'll be traveling to Beijing, Chengdu, and Mianyang next year. Any stuff I should pick up and take back home with me as we only pay 3% duty on anything over $800 in value that fits into our suitcases? I was thinking camera lenses and a good camera since they cost significantly less over there.

Anyone know how to deal with fumes when soldering? I'm in a basement and the only window I have is on the other side of the room.
Has anyone tried using a desk fan with a filter on it?
>>
>>107419657
>Anyone know how to deal with fumes when soldering?
Ideally you don't. Avoid them if you can.
>I'm in a basement and the only window I have is on the other side of the room.
Not great. The issue is that most of those cheap ones suck ass and are about as good as no filter at all.
I'd say if you're tight on money, get a PC fan/desk fan, strap a HEPA filter to it, and maybe some carbon based filter behind that.
There exist good ones that suck out air and work like a fume hood, but we're talking hundreds of dollars for those.
The ultimate "I'll get cancer but at least later" method is you just have a fan that blows away from you so it doesn't directly blow into your eyes and nose, try to get your soldering done quickly, then vacate the room and open the window to air as much of it out as you can.
Ghetto as fuck and not ideal, but it'll at least help.
You can also wear a filter mask (I sometimes used to), but I am dubious that actually does anything from a health perspective.
>>
>>107419753
>I'd say if you're tight on money, get a PC fan/desk fan, strap a HEPA filter to it, and maybe some carbon based filter behind that.
Yeah, this is what I was planning on doing. I'm going to position it so it's directly in front of me, blowing away from me. So it sucks up the smoke immediately. My problem is would a HEPA filter be enough?
>>
>>107419768
>My problem is would a HEPA filter be enough?
My intuitive answer (not based on actual facts) is no.
But this is one of those "great is the enemy of good" situations. Dosage makes the poison, so just because it's not enough to perfectly eliminate everything doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. Ideally you'd get a professional one that acts as a fume hood of sorts. I suspect that's not an option, so alternatively you'd do it somewhere with better ventilation. I assume that's also not an option, so then the question is "what's a reasonable way to help" and fan ->hepa filter -> activated carbon filter should do adequately.
Though you'll want to check if then the fan is strong enough and maybe want a DIY shroud so the air has to pass through both stages.
>>
>>107419305
Prize figures can be good or bootleg tier. A few scale figure manufacturers are iffy but that's usually reflected in the price. When you get to the stuff that's $100 or more per figure there's a very clear difference. Figure prices have been stupid for the past decade or so though so it's more like $200 for a good scale.
>>
>>107419828
Okay, looking at my room I think I can move my set up close to the window whenever I solder. A pain in the ass to do but I think it's better than breathing in toxic fumes.
I can probably build a fan connected to a tube that mounts to my window when I solder. Probably better than the HEPA filter.

Water beads are essentially slightly altered silica gel balls. They will have an upper limit in how much water they can suck up. They still deteriorate because the beads can get damaged or burst.
That being said, they'll last a couple months at most if you leave them in a vase like that. They will deteriorate though sunlight and just exposure to water and air. They're pretty fragile when they're pumped full of water.
Arguably the biggest hurdle for something like what you're doing is going to be stuff growing in the vase. You're pretty much making a really dirty aquarium, you will get algae growth even with a lid.

>>107419920
Don't even use a filter. You're trying to extract fumes, you need unobstructed airflow to get the most fumes out. The filter will slow extraction a little bit and there's no benefit other than slightly filtering the air before it goes outside.
Completely pointless and you now have a false sense of security.

There are airbrush stations for around $100 last time I was looking. They are little fume extractors with fans and a filter that take paint fumes and dump em out a window, take the filter out and it's pretty good. Might be a good solution?
>>
>>107420084

Not that guy but I had the ATK Z1.
I did not like it since I went from a Logitech G600 to it. I was so used to using a heavy mouse that it felt off. It also felt small in my hand.
If you're using some basic bitch mouse then it's pretty close to the size and weight. It's good for shooter games where you need to move the mouse quickly but I don't play those games so it doesn't suit me. I went back to my G600 mouse.

Some of my christmas orders arrived.

>Wooden animal puzzle (2.87€)
Better than expected. The backplate is adequate, the paint is consistent and most importantly, the tolerances on the pieces are loose, meaning there's some play. Great for toddlers still struggling with motor control, too tight would be bad for that.
>Wooden animal box (6.30€)
Probably my highlight in this set. Each figurine looks pretty cute, it comes with a bunch of cards with suggestions how to stack them as challenges, and even some wood with a slot as a card holder. While the toddler is too young they can just play with the animal figurines, then in half a year or a year they can start stacking them. One of the plastic latches is broken which is a shame, but what can you do.
I fear I have introduced a great evil into my sibling's life though, in that getting all the figurines back into the box once they are out is surprisingly hard (took me 3 tries kek). So the parents might hate me for it. Then again given the broken latch they'll likely not use the box much anyways.
>401 and 495 glue (1.20€ each)
These are for me. I already have some 401 glue and it works amazingly well, for insanely cheap, so I got a refill and some 495 for where you don't want to use 401. Given the highway robbery local stores do with "superglue" (legitimately 1€/g or 1000€/kg) this is a must own.
>RC diecast models (11.20€ each)
The quality is great. They have a small and simple suspension, front and back lights, and 3 different speed settings. The remotes are also paired to only their device, so all 3 work at once without interfering thankfully. Charged via USB-C and the model itself still looks good without power.
The only downside is they aren't that fast. You'll definitely want to have a course with tighter corners or some obstacles to have fun, for a straightforward race they just don't get fast enough to make it exciting. Then again for indoor they are fast enough in my opinion.

No real stinkers in the order, nice

It's no joke that issues suddenly start showing up once you go past 30. If anyone here is still younger than that start taking care of yourself early. That doesn't mean you have to live a boring life. Just do the unhealthy things in moderation and make sure to include the healthy things. Exercise is probably the biggest thing.

I really would want to get 3d printers but I don't have a space for them where I wouldn't have to worry about the fumes. Such is life living in a small box.

>I really would want to get 3d printers but I don't have a space for them where I wouldn't have to worry about the fumes. Such is life living in a small box.
Thankfully 3d printers have gotten fairly small (a1 mini for example), but yeah personally I stay the fuck away from resin on principle, and even with fdm the particulate matter they produce is substantial. I'm lucky in that I have a "guest/living room" that I rarely use where I can print in and air it out, but without it I'd worry too.
You can look into those setups with plastic grow tents around a 3D printer that some people do (or get an enclosed one to begin with), but that takes space again.
Thankfully you can print for pretty cheap these days from various services and there's a high chance a local university or library has open access printers for a material fee too.

Lots of resin printers ship with some sort of filter but it's still not something I'd want to have in my living space.

Using a service or going somewhere else is just not the same. Having one for yourself would turn it into a tinkering hobby. I mean it depends on what you need. I'd agree for rapid prototyping which is what I use mine for, the turnaround of mail order prints is far too slow to make it viable, arguably even going to the library an waiting for a time slot is still a hassle.
But if you just want a print here or there, then it's fine.
Do keep an eye out for the enclosed ones (most mid market and higher ones these days are) or a grow tent shrouded one then, might be a solution for your situation.

The oldfags here will remember just before captcha was added there was a worm called 4chan.js that spread by downloading images from here and opening them.
Well the script kept evolving and it culminated in 4chan.hta which was also a worm but it was advanced enough to be able to piece together sentences from other posts and slip through the rudimentary spam detection.
The scary part was that quite often it was able to create coherent posts. Obviously there was no real machine learning going on but it was still spooky.
You might have seen this referenced in one of the rotating banners at the top of the page (pic related) I dunno if they still use it tho.
That took place like 15-16 years ago now so it's been going on a long time and I think LLMs have amplified the problem dramatically.

Nigga everything you buy is future landfill, it's just a question of how much time there's between the purchase and the landfill. No reddit "buy it for life" basedpogging will change that fact with maybe the notable exceptions of cast iron pans if you wanna larp as a trad outdoorsman.

Related to christmas shopping I am still looking for 4 gifts at least: and would appreciate ideas:

>Aunt and her husband
Both are in the 60-70 range and I rarely see them. I have no fucking idea what to gift people like that. I already did the defaults (alcohol rocks/reusable straws).
>Sisters
One is 40, the other 35. We decided years ago that christmas gifts between us siblings are limited to 5€, though due to inflation up to 10€ is fine. Bookmarks and book holders are already done sadly.

Last year I made chili jam from homemade chilis, I have some this year too, but I don't want to just do the same again and I hot sauce is risky as my sisters are pussies when it comes to heat (due to their children hating anything hot they don't really eat heat anymore either).
The year before that it was homemade mulled wine bags plus the reading stuff.
This year I'm all out of ideas.

I already have something for my parents in their late 60s, but birthdays for them are coming up too so if you had some ideas, always appreciated.

Everyone crying online is crying mostly about ddr5 prices.
But it doesn't take a genius to realize that if all the ddr5 becomes financially unviable for a while, more people will go to ddr4, which means more buyers, which means higher prices until production reaches equilibrium again. This is less strongly the case due to ddr4 and 5 being physically different and not cross compatible, but at least some people will change consumption habits because of it and that'll affect ddr4 prices too.

I got a 5800X3D and Nitro 6800 back when they were still new and both still work.
>>
>>107424447
Yeah, me and 2 other friends got CPUs from there and I know of another guy that got a RX580 a few years ago.
They all work.

Nice, did some minor cleanup and manually removed some duplicates, and now the total is 99 mitus.
More than will ever be needed for OP images I'd guess.

Should I upgrade to 64GB RAM?
I do eventually want to get into my own local AI image generation.
>>
>>107426024
I can do local image AI generation with just 16GB of ram, you want to focus on image, you should spend that money on a high vram gpu instead.
>>
>>107426058
What AI shit needs a lot of RAM then? I'm honestly new to anything AI related.
I have a 4080 and I don't want to upgrade that.
>>
>>107426137
Text models requires RAM
Image models requires VRAM.
>>
>>107426174
thanks bro
i dont have to worry then
>>
>>107426137
LLMs are RAM-hungry
for images (and possibly some video) that use VRAM, your 4080 is more than enough, as the models most people use are about 6.5Gb,at least for images

This shit scares me. For now I'm good on my 48 GB of ram but if I decide to upgrade my CPU I'll need DDR5 eventually. Hopefully by then production has increased to compensate or AI has either collapsed (wishful thinking on my part) or found something else like with the google tensor chips. I just can't imagine what that'd be.

have you tried bamboo fabric? if you live in a warm/hot climate, bamboo weaves in your bedding/clothes are a godsend for staying cool, also the fabric is quite soft, all my bamboo socks/sheets/pillow cases feel great to the touch.
>>
>>107426335
>>107415087
>>107415046
>Mulberry Silk
>bamboo fabric
It's all the same rayon/tencel/lyocell - wood pulp fiber chemically bonded into very soft very silky fabric that feels good in any weather.
Technically it is a kind of "plastic" in its most broad, dictionary, definition, while also perfectly "natural" according to eco-retards (oil=artificial=bad, plant=natural=good).

Similar thing here, bought a 5700x3d and the seller told me to buy 7800x3d (not compatible with my motherboard) for 480USD instead, when I refused he told me to cancel the order and ruin my account, wasted my time and coupons, I could've gone to another store.

How dangerous are solder fumes really, lads? I rarely solder, once or twice a year maybe and just small things, but I breath that shit straight in.
I use Ali leaded solder too. Am I gonna get chink lung canceraids?
>>

i see. they will stop selling to consumers and sell en masse to vendors and OEM in anticipation of the AI bubble blowing the fuck up
i remember building my first pc and choosing them because they undercut all the other ram brands

I got a Xiaomi phone but it can't connect to local networks presumably because of its EU firmware. I could flash global firmware but the bootloader unlock process requires a mobile network to validate , which I need the bootloader unlocked to connect to ... Is there a workaround to this other than just physically going to a country that connects with EU firmware or should I just return it
>>

luck of the draw. ali will give you a return label within like 3 months of purchase if you're in a good country and/or your account is in good standing with high vip level
if it dies after that then you will have to send it back on your own *if* they accept it back
if this is a dealbreaker for you then just buy local. the extra cost is most definitely worth the peace of mind it brings

Just a little tip if you guys have fee free currency conversion cards

If you're a little off on a spend and save voucher or coupon threshold, just change the currency.
For example here in Bongland if there's a £5 off £30 voucher, in the US it will be $5 off $30.
Which means if your cart is £27, it'll be over $30 and coupon eligible if you switch to USD

Now, $5 off isn't the same as £5 off, but what I've found is paying in USD is often cheaper than GBP anyway so it balances out in this scenario.
>>
Is it true sellers get penalize 10% of the order if they dont ship within 48 hours?

Because the seller from my post here is trying to get me to cancel my order but I really want them to ship it out so I'm ignoring their message. >>107421353

I guess they will eat the $58 dollar pentalty if they dont ship it out. Is it dumb to press the "extend delivery time" when there is only 1 day left and they refuse to ship it out?

iirc someone here did that before and the seller finally ended up shipping it

1. you don't have to do anything
