My be quiet 13M PSU came dented a board is visibly bent inside (ZERO damage on the box btw so most likely not a shipping issue)What's the difference vetween RMe and RMx Cosair PSU's? Im sending this pile of shit back asap
>>107593963RMx is the better psu technically
well the 850e I had sounded awful and the 850x I replaced it with is silent
R8 the poorfag build I have in mind:>Optiplex 9010 MT as base>500W PSU>RX 480 8GB>16 GB RAM that comes with the OptiplexThe CPU in the Optiplex is an i5-3570, but it looks like I can swap it out with a Xeon E3-1280 v2 I have on hand; the sockets are the same, I think. The only concerns I have are whether the GPU will fit, both in the case (not considering removing the drive bracket), and on account of the motherboard's layout (the RAM slots end up making contact with the GPU backplate in some builds I've seen).
>>107594172I should mention that I've already got the PSU and GPU (I'm the retard from one of the previous threads who didn't bother checking if the GPU would fit my mb). I'm interested in that particular model of Optiplex for its Libreboot compatibility. Although the Xeon is (presumably) compatible with the Optiplex mb, I don't know if the CPU fan it comes with will accommodate it, since in the PC I've got it in at the moment, it's got a heatsink and fan directing air towards it with a plastic cover. There might be issues with overheating.
>>107594172Most rx 480s should fit but you are going to be pretty close to the drive cageCooling requirements of sandy bridge isn't crazy or anything, just about anything will do it.
Waitfags lost

Upgraded an old pc from a DDR3 8gb 4core AMD to a used 10th i5 6core + 32gb ram.Now I'm eyeing a 3060 12gb because all other cards are shit 8gb overpriced bs.If I get a good deal on the 3060 mi total for the base (mb cpu ram gpu) upgrade will be under $400.Does /g/ aprove?
>>107594318It's a reference model; picrel.
>>107594421That low end the 8gb vs 12gb isn't going to be that big of a deal, you're better off just lowering texture or shadow settings or something in the 3 games that can rape 8gb at 1080p, and then going too far into the future none of the gpus at the price point are necessarily "future-proofed" at allIf you have the psu for it consider a 2080ti or a 3070.
>>107594427>>107594172Max length for a gpu without removing the drive bracket is like 165mm
>>107594427https://www.reddit.com/r/lowendgaming/comments/gyer2p/optiplex_7010_mt_max_video_card_length/
>>107594475The VRAM is mostly for light AI sloppa, since I play mostly older games that have no problem at all with a 3060.My first option was a used 1070 for about $80-100 but there's no good deals at that price. And the card itself its too old for my usecase. Then I bumped the budget to $200-250 that could get me either a 3060 12gb or a 8gb 3070Also eyed the 5060 8gb but again, VRAM, and the price new is $380, at that point I'm no longer doing a budget upgrade. Not to mention the pcie 5.0 8x of the 5060 would have to fit in a pcie 3.0 16x
>>107594547It's ~240mm; I'll have to remove the bracket. I was hoping for easy drive installation. I should've gone with an RX 580 8GB instead. I got it relatively cheap, so I guess I can't complain. Mine doesn't have an analog output unfortunately. >>107594556All Optiplexes have the same dimensions? There's a 9020 in my area as well, which is libreboot compatible too, so I think I'll go with that instead, barring complications with libreboot not found on the other model.
>>107594579maybe try looking at a 7800xt instead? they do AI aswell, on an open source platform, but Linux OS is recommended, so only for the true time-wasters.
>>107593963maybe it is pretensioned to minimize wibrations
>>107595777That's a $600+ card anon. I'm not trying to build a high end up to date pc, i'm keeping a 2010s pc alive by upgrading it to 2020s
>>107595851Way back when the 10 series cards released I was a broke teen and desperately wanted to upgrade my PC. I found a for parts EVGA GTX 780 Ti for $15 at a flea market. I decided to try my luck and mailed it into EVGA to try and warranty the card. I thought for sure they’d send it back unfixed because I didn’t have proof of purchase and it was several years old at that point. To my surprise they replaced the card and sent it back to me. I was an EVGA fanboy ever since. Really sad they exited the GPU scene. I’ve got my EVGA 3090 going strong, I plan on keeping it until it dies.
The amount of people who don't seem to realize this is it, the last chance to buy cheaper pc parts, is staggering.

Best manufacturer for 5070 ti?I've read that gigabyte aero has\had thermal grease leaking and unbalanced fan issues. I'll be buying online so I can't afford this lotterypny capacitors were literally blowing up proven by igors labCurrently looking at MSI Gaming Trio OC or ASUS TUF (Europe so I'll be dropping 850-900 on each, so price doesn't really matter)both have coil whine but apparently MSI whines even during browsing. It's over. This is our last thread.https://www.club386.com/motherboard-sales-reportedly-collapsing-amid-rising-dram-prices/>According to a report by Gazlog, the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI are reporting a decrease in motherboard sales in the region of 40-50% compared to the same period in 2024. Considering we’re in the run-up to the holidays, with events like Black Friday typically driving up consumer purchasing, it’s safe to presume this drop represents a substantial number of units.

>>107596166Coil whine appears to be dice roll as well, but I don't think its as prevalent as the message boards make it seem. Selection bias or whatever. For current gen, Gigabyte is the only AIB partner that I know of with actual problems like you mentioned. I Didn't know about PNY.I've been told they all have bad customer service but my one experience trying to RMA a GPU was with MSI. I was getting some fan rattle at/near full PWM with my 4080 Ventus. Maybe within 24 hours of submitting a ticket, they sent me instructions to send it in for RMA. During that time I switched it from vertical to standard PCIE mount and hoped that would be easier on the bearings. It worked out, and I never sent my card in. So I'm not sure how smooth the RMA process would've gone, and I suppose maybe MSI uses cheap bearings in their "entry" level SKUs? That's all the info I can give.
Anyone have Lian Li PSU? Are they reliable?I have the Lancool 207 case so I'm thinking about buying their L shape PSU instead of a RMx850 for easier cable management
>>107596166I have the 5080 Aorus and have no problems with the thermal shit leaking out, card is mounted horizontally. I don't know if they even put it on the 5070 models. The temps are great but i have no idea if this shit will last (mines only half a year old). you get 4 year warranty if you register the card online so there's that at least. not sure if anyone else does this, ASUS and MSI maybe but you'd have to check.
>>107597147most PSU's are not made by the brand that's selling them. a lot of corsair PSU's are made by Super Flower Computer Inc. for example. they just slap their own brand on it. the only PSU company that actually makes their own shit is seasonic.
>>107597192Yeah i know, checked the spredsheet and it's listed as A tier so I'm buying it
