has support for 5.25" bays though, might consider one since i have some dvd drives laying around

Are you sure you were looking at 7600X3D?
It's only slightly cheaper than 7800X3D while being noticeably slower.
>>
>>107761453
Is it that bad to build in?
Or for the temps? I can put in a 240 AIO instead
>>
>>107761448
I'd worry if the CPU cooler fits or not (check the allowed dimensions of your case), and if airflow is okay in that case design or not. Check some vids maybe. As for the CPU, could be cool to get a small upgrade for a little money if you'll make use of it, but you'll want to undervolt/etc a little regardless to keep temps down in the case, especially being on an air cooler instead of liquid cooling in a small chassis. Make sure your case allows ATX-size PSUs, maybe reconsider your cooler for an AIO, etc.
>>
>>107761511
pain in the ass to build in if you have normal sized hands + temps will be shit. if you are a small asian go for it

I upgraded from a ryzen 3600/RX 580 to a ryzen 5800XT/9070XT.

Plays all my games at 1440p 144hz high settings so why should I buy AM5?

I'm good with my ddr4 32gb 3600mhz ram that I bought years ago.

I'm still sticking with AM4. You have mental illness if you fork the money over for ddr5

My games literally just werk, oh no I get 170fps vs 200fps the horror. Maybe you might get a game like unoptimized dogshit like cyberpunk or ue5 sloppa that has edge cases where am5 gets 30%+ but its always the shit games.

In the games I play I always get 1440p144fps+ high settings. So no I'm not buying am5.

I think a lot of stuff will go this way, but cloud gaming will literally never work. You can have the biggest datacenters, have full fibre lines connecting all the way to your house. The speed of light means that even if we build the most advanced internet infrastructure possible, input lag will always be jarring. Even milliseconds of lag make a game unplayable. The laws of physics mean that some systems should always be local.

But will things like office software end up all becoming cloud based subscription niggerhell? Yes, probably. We are almost there anyway. And to fuck gamers over they don't even need cloud based gaming, the game will still be local but they will just change to a subscription model and ramp up DRM/always online bullshit. Even on Steam which people praise, you don't really own your games, you just lease them.

AM5 has always been a dead socket.

AM5 has always been expensive. DDR5 was insanely expensive on launch and the 5800x3d was still the king since forever. AM4 was and still is king. 7800x3d released in mid 2023 and nobody could buy it for a while until early 2024.

There was only 1.5 year window from where people had a chance to even get ddr5 and 7800x3d and build a new PC IF they had $1500 and many still held onto AM4 because PC gamers aren't just going to toss their PCs in a 2 year period span just because a new socket is out.

Now RAM has killed AM5. People with 5800X3D are not upgrading for another 2-4 years, until RAM comes down. People who want to upgrade from a older ryzen like 3600 are going to go for a 5800XT new like I did because I'm not paying $500 for a used 5800X3D.

And retards will pay $600 for ddr5 ram and $2500 for an AM5 PC just to get 40fps more (in some shitty unoptimized ue5 games)when they are already getting 144fps. Are we up to speed now?

Everyone who has ever owned a gaming PC has an AM4 PC if you built one pre 2020 covid. This ram shit is a hoax its just another covid like price gouge that happened suddenly within a month. It doesn't exist. It will resolve in 1 year max.

What you said just means PC gaming is dead right now, until RAM prices normalize. Because $600 ram is just not acceptable to most people with brains.

Just like I know i have a brain because I'm not paying $500 to jewbay 5800x3d sellers just so I can continue using my PC parts I bought in 2018. 5800XT is new and is $180 on sale. Good value.

If you are a grandpa getting into PC gaming better fork up that $600 for ram old timer.

For me doe I'm on am4 until am6 because am5 is a dead socket for 90% of PC gamers who didn't upgrade briefly within the last 2 years and why would people many still have a 5800X3D.

Stems hardware showed 80% of games played were made in the past 8 years and most indie. Not new 2025-2024 games.

>>
>>107762616
Undervolting is all about the silicon lottery. Good engineering is all about building safety and performance margins into a design. Most CPUs and GPUs can be undervolted. This reduces the temps and allows it to boost higher for a longer time. And it's safe. If it's undervolted too far, it will simply crash. It will not damage the chip.

So, even with no overclocking, an undervolt will run cooler and perform better. The trick is finding that sweet spot where it's stable. Try -20 and if it's stable, try -30. When you find where it's unstable, just back off 10.

Alright I'm repasting my Dell 3090 GPU since the mem temps are high and they are known to have a design flaw where there isn't thermal paste around the chip so the memory around them don't have best contact. Putting paste in that area like pic rel lowers mem temps by 10 degrees.

>Never looked into undervolting. How does it even affect running shit as high as possible on a 32:9 monitor?
Processors are overvolted at stock settings to guarantee stability. It's costly & time-consuming for factories to validate more precise V/F tables for individual chips.

You use programs like MSI Afterburner to find a more power-efficient and stable V/F table for your GPU.
4090s are requesting 1.05~1.1V at stock settings, undervolting with some overclocking can help the GPU retain the stock level of performance while drawing less voltage & power overall.
I would suggest a +150MHz GPU core OC and setting a core voltage limit of 950mV to retain the performance you paid for (while running stable).

Download and run Unigine Heaven or Valley (either is fine), run it on Windows, and adjust the GPU's V/F curve like the video below.
You are adjusting the V/F while the GPU is under load to ensure the curve you are modifying applies at 3D rendering loads.
Afterburner can be wonky if you tune the V/F curve without any GPU load.

I just read that some cheap extra Sata PCIE cards could make boots take like 10 minutes or something. But never about a JMB363 cards.

But right now I can either install the JMB363 and plug my 2001 Pioneer slot loading DVD-Rom drive and LS120 reader to the PCIE slots. Or I can instead just plug them to one of my extra USB 2.0 headers and keep my Kioxia 2tb drive that's plugged to a PCIE X1 to NVME adapter. I think the USB method works just fine for me.
>>

Alternatively I could install the JMB363. Then I could buy one of those USB to NVME enclosures and put the Kioxia drive there and plug that enclosure to my motherboards rear USB C 20gps port. Then double side tape the enclosure to the rear of my PC or something. It would be faster than the PCIE 3.0 X1 it's currently attached to.

Maybe when am6 comes around and 9080XTX with the newest am6 cpu comes out in 4-5 years I'll consider dropping $1800 with hopefully a $500 4K OLED monitor.

I'm currently using a 1440p 24" I bought for $120. It has 112% sRGB that's all I need.

Depends on your budget. I'm using US prices here since I'm not sure where you live.

I'd say best two options right now are either the i5 12600KF for $170 or i9 12900KF for $280. Those two CPU's don't have the stability issues of the 13th and 14th gen. But on pure gaming the $265 14600KF does beat the 12900KF by a little bit at launch (it was 4.5% faster) but I suspect they are basically same speed now due to Intel's fix for the instability slowing those CPU's down by couple percent. But the 12900KF obviously also has better non gaming performance as well.

And as you can see at least from this tomshardware review both the 12900kf and 14600k beat the 5800X3D at 1080p. As for ram yeah go for 3600mhz. It's the best price to performance since beyond 3600mhz DDR4 is expensive as hell (even though something like DDR4 4133mhz does beat a lot of the DDR5)

Hi guys, I haven't built a pc in quite some years, but I want to have access to a personal workstation at home again. However, there's two caveats:
1. Because I haven't built one in years I feel like I'm quite a bit out of the loop
2. I originally wanted to build a PC later this year because I just bought a house and was waiting until all the renovations were done so I could purchase components with a more flexible budget (and honestly because I want to buy as little new stuff as possible until I move)
The current situation with the rapidly increasing prices has lead me to consider building a PC right now, but the aforementioned caveats lead me to be both quite unsure about what I should get and have reduced the amount of money I can (responsibly) spend on a PC.
What I need is something that can handle light simulation in possibly complex scenes (such as in 3D programs like Blender) well. I'm not a gamer and have zero interest in things like AI frames in games or anything like that, which from what I understand is a selling point for the RTX 50 series. I understand that a 5090 would be the "obvious" choice, but fuck that thing is really expensive. What are the expectations for near future announcements?
Country: The Netherlands
Budget: €3000 (I'm not dead set on that budget, but I would prefer to not spend much more than that. Open to different perspectives, though!)
>>
>>107763871
No. That's a terrible deal. You're too late for buying an AM5 rig. And that gpu is not worth that much money, you're getting shafted by the new year prices. Ps ps3 emulation is still crappy and is unrelated to gpu, the emulation layer is not developed enough like ps2 or switch

>>
>>107763854

>>
>>107763922
You're too late. Wait 2-3 years or try to find am AM5 pre-built within your budget with a good card. It is not worth building your own pc now, since the October 2025 ram prices went crazy

i5 12600KF - ~155€
i7 12700KF - ~230€
i9 12900KF - ~285€
Just going for the KF honestly seems tempting here. The performance hit seems negligible and it's ideally gonna be an interim solution anyways.
>>
>>107763861
As for the cooler. Make sure you use the intel power limit settings. But I'd say a beefy aircooler like a Peerless Assasin should be enough for a 14600K. Though obviously a 240mm or bigger AIO gives better results.

What's AIO pricing in your country? Here in Finland you can get a 240mm AIO for like 58 euros which is only 16 euros more than a Peerless Assassin.

I mean KF versions perform the same they just don't have an IGPU.

>>
>>107764034
Not really. Only thing is if you want overclock and such get a Z board. But honestly it clocks pretty hard already so you can cheap out and get a B board. Only thing I would do is avoid is the H610 boards since those boards don't have the best power delivery for a K series CPU and their ram speeds cap at 3200mhz.

So look for a Z690 or a Z790 board with DDR4 support. Or a B660 or B760 if you don't care about overcloking. The 12600KF also will be able to be cooled down by a Peerless Assasin pretty well. No need for an AIO with that.

how likely is it that AMD is gonna show something better than the 9070 at CES?

Waitfags won. Vramlet RTX 5070/5080 lost ahahahahahahaha
>>
I saw Jensen speak on some interview about how great AI is today
I wanted to rip his head off
>>
>>107764075
I'm aware of the options - 5060Ti 16GB was my target anyway - I'm more concerned about future pricing, how much worse it's going to get price-wise.
>>
>>107764125
>>RTX 5070 ti Super 24gb
>>RTX 5080 ti 32gb
these would both be extremely wanted by AIfags
you're not gonna get these at reasonable prices
they will also not give the 5080 as much vram as the 5090
>>
>>107764118
Dont man. High chance Nvidia gonna announce new card on CES. I purchased 5070ti and i regret it because of 16gb of vram. Im gonna immediately sell the card at reduced price for easy sell
>>
>>107764125
Wow $20 of vram chips for the low price of $1600.
>>
>>107764150
>High chance Nvidia gonna announce new card on CES.
lol
>>
>>107764150
Don;t sell till you have something better in hand. The 4090 guys got butt raped selling early for the 5090. Used 4090s were going for 1k early 50 series launch.

bros... pre built PC's with anything better than a 5060 cost like cars in my country...
>>
>>107764279
Buy used. Look far and wide. Normies haven't fully grasped the current situation.
>>
>>107764279
Too late for gaming pcs now. Try to find a used Am4 rig and change it's gpu. It will come to cheaper
>>
>>107764077
that was like the normal price for a brief period
if it makes you feel any better i missed 2x32 6400c32 for 100€ also

>>107764098
based fearmongering

>>107764232
a display should cost between 1000-3500$
anything less and you are getting dog shit poo poo
>>
>>107764279
I'd consider getting a skill and moving the fuck out
>>
>>107764290
Naw I wouldn't have went for that - I read that any speeds higher than 6000cl30 was unstable at the time.
>>
>>107764309
>Naw I wouldn't have went for that - I read that any speeds higher than 6000cl30 was unstable at the time.
you just change time speed down to 6000
>>
>>107764290
>a display should cost between 1000-3500$
I got my neo g9 57 (best ultrawide monitor in the world) for less than that
and lg c2 (one of the best 42 tv oled) cost like half of 1K
>>
>>107764333
So 6000cl32? Would that have been optimal?
>>
>>107764349
a C 42" is like 1k$ in eu on half price sales
closer to 2k$ prior to
but yeah I should have realstiically said up to 7k considering TV sizes coss

>>107764352
it's the same ram you could tune down the timings consiering you lower the speed
it would be hynix ram anyway
so yeah should have bought
scalpers trying to sell those kits they bought now for 900$ dont think its gonna work
>>
>>107764349
Anons said I needed to spend as much money on my monitor as my GPU, so I bought a LG G5.
>>
>>107764125
>RTX 5080 ti 32gb
>Would go for 2-3k
Yeah, what's the point?
>>
>>107764930
The point is you might as well buy a $3200 3090 Asstral. The raping has begun.
>>
>>107764125
someone SS this post so we can laugh at him after Njudea fucks over their paypigs at CES for the millionth time.

Not sure how they'll screw over the goyim this time exactly, but it'll happen, and i'll be here to laugh at you bottom feeding goyslaves.
