Ada didn't sell as well because of the $1200 RTX 4080 and the $800 4070 Ti 12GB.
I'm also guessing the 3060 12GB and the 3060 Ti kept a lot of people happy through that generation.

Pretty cool, it's straight up cheating in FPS games since I don't need to check corners and can just see everything all at once. For singleplayer games, it can be annoying because you usually need some kind of mod to get it working.
>>
>>107820305
This is not a post to support the idea that the 5070 has the same performance as the 4090, not anywhere close; however, baseline gaming performance is barely relevant between generations from the same vendor, and it's even less relevant between vendors. Bar charts are artifacts of an archaic review archetype and certainly do not indicate to the reader what he would be purchasing.

FPS is a bad metric for reviews at this point. That chart has Radeon FSR 3 cards and Geforce DLSS 4 cards side by side despite having massively different image quality and smoothness unless you artificially gimp the Geforce cards. Arguably the 5070 can get much closer to the 4090 in terms of smoothness than the 4070 Super can, and the 5070 is right next to the 4070 Super. Even among 50 series cards, the different tiers get different smoothness improvements and take different latency penalties from FG while under heavy load.

I like the idea of targeting image quality at a resolution, smoothness, and price in a review, but reviews should be focused on a card within subset of cards and explain what that card is and is not capable of, with examples. For example, the 5070 could be demonstrated playing demanding games at 4K with noted settings including SR and FG. The 5070 (at least before DLSS 4.5) could also be shown to be too weak for path tracing at 4K, or at the very least require compromised image quality to achieve playable frame rates. Reviews should show what a buyer can expect from a card, not some abstracted, falsely associated number that provides almost no indication of how well the card plays modern games.

tl;dr: Bar charts are academic at best and lack practical relevance to how purchasers will actually be using the cards.

What I would love to see is bootleg chips, just like bootleg pharmacologics. Sadly the manufacturing process is too difficult for that to become a reality

We have tariffs and sales tax here, but with expensive high margin items, they're already priced as high as the market will bear, so companies eat the tariffs because they can't price the products any higher and maintain optimum profit.

Raster is solved. 5070 is a decent 4K card if you don't care about path tracing. The 4090 is better than the 5070 for 4K but only in the diminishing returns sense of higher DLSS quality levels. 4K DLSS Quality is nearly indistinguishable from 4K DLAA, and 4K Performance is very good, something most people would be extremely happy with. The 4090 is not more than 60% better for 4K gaming as your chart would suggest, and is certainly not worth close to even that low dream world premium (in reality the premium is much more) for simple 4K gaming

The choice to go with a 7600X and 32GB of RAM is a bit of a weird one.
Likewise, 2560x1440 165Hz monitor with only a 9070XT is kinda odd.
Honestly, this whole selection is kinda weird.

It's like a midrange build, but you've got expensive versions of midrange stuff, so much so you could have just gone for more high-end stuff instead.

NVIDIA Frame Generation changes EVERYTHING! Instant performance! Smoother motion! Next-gen visuals without buying a new card! Turn it on and your system immediately feels like a higher tier GPU! DLSS + FRAME GEN is the HOLY COMBO that turns every game into a premium experience YOU CAN *FEEL*! If you aren’t using it, you are LITERALLY leaving performance on the table!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my PC started to shut down randomly, with a clicking sound, then starting back up after 1-2 seconds. I noticed, that this only happens when I use Android Studio (an IDE for Android development). I have switched to Linux, like half a year ago, and don't game much anymore so can't test it with a heavy game, but Android Studio probably eats more power than any AAA game. Is this the end of my PSU? I googled it and seems like it is. The PC worked for 2.5 years, I played games on it before (Stalker 2) and had no problems. I recently had to move, so maybe it got damaged during the process.
My specs are: 7950x3d + 7900XT. PSU is Asus ROG THOR 850P 850 W 80+ Platinum.
I'm about to buy a new PSU because it seems like it's very likely that it's the PSU fault. Just need a confirmation.

This card is still unsafe as fuck and reddit is full of posts about failures, meltdowns and details how paranoid and careful people are with those cards like checking them daily, buying amp measuring devices to measure the coltage of single cables and other weird shit. All so they don't burn their house down and failures within a year seem very common.

So I did something kinda retarded which was buying a RX9070 as a GPU upgrade which is obviously getting really heavily bottlenecked by my build, but I thought I might be able to stretch my current build by a few years like this. However, I really am just considering pulling the trigger and making a completely new build but saving the GPU, PSU, cooler, some SSDs and HDDs and even the case even though it is kinda fucked up (almost none of the front panel USBs etc do not work). What would you guys suggest for me to get? Would it be smart for me to save the PSU and such for the new build? My budget is maybe a maximum of 1500 eurodollars (already have the GPU) and my target is 1440p gaming. I reside in Finland.

the "problem" the cable set out to solve was that having like 4 8-pins on the gpu looks terrible, so it was about being as small as possible while still kind of working. They achieved that. It kinda works but not really but more importantly it looks clean.
>>
>>107823082
And it also didn't cost you 3000$-5000$
Also imagine your 5090 catches fire and damages your ram. Nvidia will probably warranty your 5090 (maybe) but your ram is out of luck.

pcie 8pin is rated for 150 but wont melt even if you force 300 through it. That's what a properly designed cable looks like.
the slot is much the same, rated for 75w but it wasnt uncommon especially with cards like the 750 ti to go to 120+ with no external power.
pcie a robust standard all-around.
Nvidia has crapped out a piece of shit standard and it's too late for them to admit it's flawed, the shareholder confidence loss would be devastating since they've already been using it for so many years...

those manufacturers that work exclusively with AMD that are having these issues haven't had time to band-aid "fix" the issue via pcb compensations, whereas nvidia partners have had a few gens to try to iron things out. they AMD AIBs are just now discovering what a horrible piece of shit it is, and it's exploding in their face as a result.

Why they adopted it in the first place, is the much better question. They had to have known how bad it is.

Well, the CPU usage generally goes to 100% in pretty much any recent games, and I feel like I don't get the most out of my GPU. Based on rough calculations I believe the bottleneck is about 20% and does cause stuttering depending on the game (like Cyberpunk 2077).

>do you just feel the need to upgrade to avoid any mismatches down the line
Basically this. The one million dollar question though is that should I just hold on with my current build and not utilize the RX9070 to it's maximum potential (I upgraded from a RTX2070 so it was quite a jump) so I can maybe avoid paying so fucking much for RAM.

which is funny because even 3 pcie 8-pins wont melt before the dog shit 12vhpwr connector does it it came down to it.
>>
>>107823271
Aren't these adapters going to be running into pin compatibility problems? If someone is using a 2019 Seasonic PSU versus a 2021 Corsair PSU then they will use two different 8 pin layouts, how do you rectify that with an adapter bundled with the GPU its self?
>>
>>107823290
the adapter can still melt only your PSU will likely stay undamaged. I switched from adapter to a dedicated 12V 2x6 cable cause the coil whine with former was ridiculous while the ampere balance wasn't better.

Go down to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB Drive and you can get a 5080 and that will give you more gaming performance.

Though, honestly, if you've already got a 500GB NAND SSD you're fine using that and waiting out the SSD price hikes. Put that money towards a 5080 & 32GB of RAM instead.

ye that's just the thing. other option would be to find the best cpu that socket supports. but when you're ready to upgrade it might be worth selling your old build to recoup some of the cost. personally ran a 5700x with my 9070 xt all year last year till i swapped it out for a 9800x3d last month and found a buyer for my am4 rig the same week

-3 fps is old news, you want to leave 0.25-0.3ms of frame time, which will depend on your target frequency.

For 60hz that's 57 FPS
For 120hz it's 116 FPS
For 144hz it's 138-140 FPS
For 165hz it's 158-160 FPS
For 240hz it's 225-230 FPS
For 360hz it's 330-340 FPS
Etc
>>
>>107823460
You don't need to do this shit. I've done the latency tests myself on both AMD & Nvidia. The best latency is -1fps using AntiLag 2 on AMD (many games can inject it same way as FSR4 using Optiscaler) or just turning on Reflex with no boost mode.
>>
>>107823466
That might work for you personally, but the best practice for Gsync is to leave 0.25-0.3ms of frame time. It's why when you use reflex+boost it caps your FPS to similar limits that I mentioned, because Nvidia internally uses the 0.25ms frame time rule.

Well I can confirm.

Daisy chaining my RTX 5070 was what was causing my GPU to crash after 10-90 minutes in game.

Added a 2nd dedicated power cable instead of daisy chaining and it went from crashing frequently, to a 6+ hour block of gaming last night with zero crashing at all.

Yea, native 12VHPWR cable was also ordered, but in the meantime, two dedicated 8-pin PCIe power cables into the 12VHPWR "squid" adapter will work fine.

>>107823597
It worked fine for years on my RTX 3070ti, but apparently the new 50 Series cards are incredibly sensitive to voltage droop during transient loads, which on pigtail cables when they've been running hot for a bit of time, can cause increased voltage droop when a sudden 300w+ transient spike hits, your voltage droops from 12v to 11.7v or less, and the driver hangs, crashing the game.
>>

The problem with LGA1151 as a socket is that there pretty much doesn't exist a better CPU* for it, so I'm kinda stuck with my i7 9700k if I don't change the whole system. Really unofortunate timing all in all... Do you reckon I could get anything for my DDR4 ram? I already sold the RTX2070 to a friend so at least some of the cost is recouped.

In all honesty, that single cable was likely limiting your 3070ti by 5-10%, you just never noticed because the 3070ti would just throttle itself instead of crashing. But the 50 series being more sensitive to voltage crashed instead of throttling, so yea. You probably spent years with a throttled 3070ti.
