FUCK. The 10 and 12 core Bartlett Lake cpu's are coming but will have no consumer release and no Bios support for consumer MB's. Fucking hell I have been waiting for over year for it. And decided not to upgrade to AM5 since I already have an LGA 1700 board. I missed a ram upgrade I was going to do because of waiting.

Fuck you Intel. Seriously fuck you. I was loyal with AMD until I went with LGA 1700 instead of AM5 back in 2022. I bought AMD during the FX years and decided to give you the chance. And you fuck me like this instead. Never again. Should have never abandoned AMD. I guess I deserve that for betraying AMD.

A used 850 PSU for $80? Yeah no. That's not even good price. You cna get an 850W gold rated PSU for $80 on Black Friday's (psu's have great sales on Black Friday's). And besides right now for $75 you can get a Rosewill VMG 850W 80 plus Gold PSU.

Unless you know the guy selling the PSU, and you know the history of the system don't buy used.

No I'm just pissed. I bought LGA 1700 late 2022 instead of AM5. The Z790 motherboard also cost the same as a X670 board would have cost. But I went with Intel because I got a 12th gen i5 with the idea I would upgrade to a high end CPU later and AM5 didn't have good budget options at the time.

Well the 13th and 14th gen i7's or i9's aren't options because they like to self destruct. And I'm not gonna waste money on a 12900KS. This was my hope that I could get something good. But intel decides to screw customers. Never again.

>>
>>107895018
how?
>>
>>107895028
Well I don’t think there’s much variation in performance with 240 aios. Just get it if you like it. Make sure there’s no compatibility issues with your mobo or case though.
>>
>>107895002
it's 360mm. i'm gonna have a 5090 in it so i want it to be as cool as possible. the 5090 has an extra fan (4th one, placed above the card), so if i don't use an aio, it's gonna cut the air that would go toward the cpu cooler. i can avoid using the 4th fan but i think using an aio and the 4th fan on the gpu makes sense
>>
>>107895045
No, I'm NTA. Just saying a 240 has it's uses. Sometimes it's required, sometimes just wanted for a little security. Honestly, with that case, a 240 was the limit. I would have gone 360 if it fit. Realistically, going air would have worked.

>>
>>107895113
kind old though i was thinking i should get something with atx 3.1
>>
>>107895274
Depends on the case. The rear exhaust fans is usually last since it'll get in the way of the motherboard dropping in. Front fans if it has them *usually* can be done first but again depends on the size. Basically, you want a clear path to install the mobo. Now, if you're using an AIO... ME? I install that after the mobo is in, everything else is wired up and before the GPU.
>>
>>107895309
I'm using air cooler. Case will have front and top fans too. 140mm
>>
>>107895294
Why release when no one is going to be building PCs very often this year? It's COVID for computers
Plus it might eat into it's G2 recent release
>>
>>107895327
Yeah, set the motherboard up, drop it in, then any fans you didn't install... like I said, front fans you can do early if there's plenty of room between them and the motherboard, wire it all up, then do the top fans... and as always, do the GPU last.

The PSU, I like to plug in all the cables I'll need, THEN install into the back of the case, and after the mobo is in, fish them through and connect.

Last LAST thing is cable management. Remember- do not put the side covers on before you first fire it up, or it will not POST.

A good cpu will outlast even any amd socket in usability by at least a couple of years so I've never understood this argument against Intel. By the time you should upgrade, the next socket will be out and mature, are you really going to waste money upgrading a 7-10 year old pc's cpu instead of just building a new one? I guess it's a good option to have just in case idk software suddenly gets way more demanding than expected in just a few years or if you find yourself in too dire financial straits to make a new pc...

But me I've never taken platform "longevity" into account for a motherboard.

if the direction is right. it would look more like this.

upgrading a pc after 7 years with a somewhat new and decent cpu with a basically free mobo and ram is a better deal then buying everything new again and again.
>>
>>107895914
Who gives a shit about better deals? These are consumer class computers, they're not at all expensive in 7 year perspective.
>>
>>107895914
My general philosophy is not to waste money upgrading a pc that's too old
>great deal
Eh I'm not going to use the same motherboard for 14 years. Im spending money to slightly extend the life of a machine.
>>
>>107895930
>>107895935

i do. i build a system with a 1600x and 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram and a cheapo b350 board. i later got a 5700x. it's still a fine system. and the jump in ipc was great. if i had to build it all new i would have probably only gotten a 5600x or smth.
>>
>>107895962
okay (you)
i7 265 will last for at least 10 years if you aim at playing gaymes. And it's also a custom prebuilt pc that holds it's value much better than a regular pc. Exactly because of the fact it's custom, it's much smaller and people pay a lot of money to have that.

nobody is going to pay for a small unupgradable pc a premium on the used market. anyone who wants a used pc would want something standard so he can easilly replace stuff down the line. with a standard case, standard mobo, standard cooler and a standard psu.
>i7 265 will last for at least 10
so will any am5 system + more with a new cpu like my build does but without having to buy a new mobo and ram.

because paying more than $250 or so for a Radeon is still a ridiculous notion to most people. Poolaris was the last time AMD was even worth considering over nvidia. Before that? Probably the HD 6000 series.
>>
>>107895962
could have just bought an 8700K back in 2017 and then you would never have needed the upgrade
but 1600X to 5700X is not a bad upgrade, it's not like those people that went from a 1600X to 3600X to 5600X and thought they got a good deal from AMD

>>107896115
yeah i'm not saying you made a bad choice, but you could either make large investment in a good motherboard, CPU and RAM up front, or let AMD catch up with yearly IPC improvements

i don't know but probably not very well, quad cores have been obsolete for a long time

you can replace cpu, gpu, ram, even the motherboard when a new zbox comes out. This is zotac's standard that existed since nvidia 9xx cards. Doesn't need to be ITX/ATX compatible.

EU27507TC (i7 265) supports up to 6400MT/s memory. Corsair has 6000MT/s CL30 SODIMMs available. Other vendors produce low-latency SODIMMs too. CPU doesn't care if you have CSODIMM, SODIMM, DIMM or soldered memory. It only cares about supported timings written into SPD.

>Why are amd cards so hard to fucking sell
because only gamers buy them. artists, creators, streamers, LLMs and generative ai users all buy team green because the encoders, software work faster and better on nvidia cards. FSR4 doesn't work on old AMD cards which makes their value less than the newer cards that come out. DLSS4.5 works on 20 series GPUs. AMD almost ended gaming driver support for 5000/6000 series before the community had backlash in November. Do I need to paint a bigger picture to why AMD is dogshit? NVIDIA is not perfect at all either, they both are evil but NVIDIA wins a majority of the market for a reason and AMD needs to catch up in a lot of places still next generation. I have high hopes for UDNA when it comes out. I want AMD to succeed... so NVIDIA cards can come down in price :3

I'd say go for it. difference between 5070ti and 5080 is like 10-15% so it's a reasonable boost for 100 bucks extra. 5070ti was the best value this gen because the gap was so small. 5080 is basically a 5070ti super

Also any tips for someone about to put together their first AMD CPU system?

Even new Radeon cards mostly attract frugal people.
You're dealing with even worse penny pinchers when you sell used Radeon cards.

install their chipset software. disable the igpu. lower the llc to the lowest level. disable faggot lights. do not download lgbt control software. use the balanced power plan. don't run stupid pbo settings.

Watch a LOT of PC building videos from a lot of different channels. Do plenty of research and become your own expert. Use PCPartPicker.com and check all your parts, get the right price and ensure compatibility.

Update the board BIOS to the latest stable version before you install the CPU & memory if your board supports it.

Cute bnuy. Will do. Waiting on one more item but going to get started tomorrow so I don't procrastinate further. I bought most a month ago but I had family over during holidays+ got COVID right after they left and had to catch up a lot of work.

>medium load boostit
Does this relate to PBO?
>>107897213
Are you sure? I heard it's better to wait on brand new BIOS and something about not being able to 'downgrade' after certain ageca (??? spelling) updates that don't let you go back anymore.
I'm planning X870E due to 3x NVME (avoiding saturating my GPU lane)

Also you think I can get away with Win10 if I don't care about wifi for my 870E?

any advice on x670e mobos? asrock and msi to be avoided? experience with gigabyte and asus?
>>
>>107897283
>Are you sure?
At least get the latest BIOS version, where the fixes include memory stability/compatibility and performance improvements.
You don't have to be afraid of losing access to older AGESA; worst case, you're covered under warranty.

Anyone have any experience with Z-Edge and Koorui monitors?
I don't know about Z-Edge, but I read that Koorui uses the exact same panels as AOC, but obviously I cannot confirm if this is true.
I'm trying to look into cheap chinkshit alternatives that aren't outright scams.

At this point AMD cards are just overall worse in everything compared to NVIDIA in terms of function and the only thing they have going for them is the value angle, but at the same time AMD doesn't sell them at a low enough price for their value to be truly compelling. That's why not many people buy them.

If you're selling one used, I guess it's the same problem, nobody will buy a used AMD card unless it's truly exceptional value.
